What a bizarre album. It's bizarre, dynamic and constantly evolving, but somehow it all feel cohesive. It’s an incredibly impressive feat.
Jeff Rosenstock is a punk rock extraordinaire hailing from Long Island. His recent string of albums including We Cool, WORRY, and now POST- have been critically acclaimed and turned him into a legend within the community. His latest installment is big, ambitious, and markedly different from his previous work. For FTMB, WORRY is already a classic and one of our favorite albums of all time. BROCKHAMPTON doesn’t need more hype. The self-proclaimed boy band (they are more of a rap collective) was on fire in 2017. They released a trilogy of albums, Saturation I-III that received a ton of attention over the course of the year. And all the attention is well-deserved. It’s impressive to produce the volume of work that BROCKHAMPTON has put out this year, but even more impressive to maintain (and even improve) on the quality of each successive project.
I first came across Yaeji when I watched Genius’s video interview with her on the official lyrics and meaning behind her song drink i’m sippin on. The video caught my attention, not least of all, because most of her lyrics in this particular song are in Korean.

In episode 4 of Friends Talking Music with Beer (FTMB), Matt and Riley discuss White Reaper's latest album, and all around stellar rock indulgence, The World's Best American Band. This album hearkens back to the anthemic power rock songs of the 70s and 80s with a modern touch.
This is the third studio album from the Louisville-based band and marks a noticable shift in musical style from the low-fi, garage rock of their previous albums. It's a fantastic album to blast in your car with the windows thrown down on a sunny day and their live shows are bursting with energy and rock-and-roll goodness. Beer of the podcast is Seventh Son's Proliferous DIPA. Slightly boozy, but very drinkable, this double IPA is a fantastic beer to enjoy on a warm day while rocking out to White Reaper.
