What's on your mind? This is soooo important to usefulness and productivity! If you are constantly drowning in negativity, your brain becomes negative. Surround yourself wit positivity, your brain will follow.
What not to do when it comes to supplementation and diet. Chances are, you've been sucked into the realm of PREWORKOUTS with enough stim to kill a tank. It's counter productive for what you're trying to accomplish. Tone it down, pick up some AT4 (so you know what's going in your body), and start feeling better and achieving goals. Your Diet also sucks! We all eat bad food sometimes! Moderation is key. 80/20 rule.
Welcome back to another season of the 2Marines 1Mic Podcast. Over the next few weeks we'll be getting deep on how we fuel our bodies. Mind, Body, Spirit. This episode we're talking about food and the controversial Game Changers Documentary.

What a weekend!! We flew up to DC on Friday morning to participate in the festivities leading up to the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday. What we didn't know was how applicable this race and weekend would be for our Podcast Season on "Adversity." Holy cow! Wade's girlfriend Jen crushed her goal of running the full in under five hours. Her mom Phyllis completed her first full marathon. And Phil, against better reasoning and judgement ran the full marathon, with five days notice, and zero training. They all did great and the aftermath made for some awesome content! (at Phil's expense)
Welcome back to another Season of the 2Marines 1Mic Podcast! Over the next few weeks, we'll be digging into "adversity." Where does it come from? How do we know when Adversity is heading our way? And most importantly, how do we prepare for it? We each have plenty of experience with overcoming obstacles as well as, not overcoming them and thinking we're stuck! Next stop, Washington DC!
As we bring our season of change to a close, we recap everything we've learned and implemented over the past few weeks! Can't wait to start our new season on Adversity next!!
2020 is approaching fast and we have been dialed in on our mission to get a giant head start on our plans for next year. We welcome back Kevin Armentrout, an expert on change and our good friend. We hope you learn from and enjoy this episode; we did. Remember, Evolve, Grow, Change while keeping #2020Vision
Adam is the Founder and CEO of The Lift Box, America's number one fitness-based subscription box. He is also an Active Duty Special Operations Shooting Instructor for the Coast Guard. Adam talks with us about change being difficult for most people because of the over-looming thought of failure and how others will perceive that "failure."
As we begin our new series about "CHANGE," we were pointed in the direction of a Man that has had to conquer exactly that. Rob is a Husband, Expecting Father, Paralympic Medalist, accomplished Triathlete, Marathon Runner, and Author. He is also running for United States Congressman in his Virginia District. This is Rob Jones Journey:
"I deployed to Habbaniyah, Iraq in 2008, and again to Delaram/Sangin, Afghanistan in 2010. During my deployment to Afghanistan while operating as a part of a push into Taliban territory, I was tasked with clearing an area with a high likelihood of containing an IED. It was in this capacity that I was wounded in action by a land mine. The injury resulted in a left knee dis-articulation and a right above knee amputation of my legs.
I was taken to National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD for the initial phases of my recovery, which consisted primarily of healing and closing my wounds. I was then transferred to Walter Reed Army Medical Center for the remainder of my rehabilitation. At Walter Reed I was fitted with prosthetics, and worked very hard to learn how to walk with two bionic knees. I also used the time to relearn how to do other things with my new challenge including riding a bicycle, running, and rowing. I took naturally to rowing, and since I am always in search of a challenge that I can use to become better, I decided to train for the 2012 Paralympics.
After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in December, 2011, I immediately moved to Florida to train with my rowing partner, Oksana. We spent five months there, and during that time period won the trunk and arms mixed double sculls trial race held by USRowing to become the USRowing national team for our boat class, and also won the Final Paralympic Qualification Regatta in Belgrade to qualify for the Paralympics. We then moved to Charlottesville, Virginia to continue training until the Paralympics in September, 2012. Our hard work paid off for us as we brought home a bronze medal in our event. I continued in the sport of rowing through the 2013 season, where my partner and I placed 4th in the 2013 World Rowing Championships.
On October 14, 2013 I began a solo supported bike ride across America which started in Bar Harbor, Maine, and ended in Camp Pendleton, California. The ride was 5,180 miles long and completed on April 13, 2014, a total of 181 days after it began. Over the course of the ride, along with my team, I raised $126,000 for the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, and Ride 2 Recovery, three charities which aid wounded veterans.
Between Fall 2014, and Summer 2016, I trained in the sport of triathlon with the intention to compete in the 2016 Paralympic Games. I saw considerable personal improvement, but was unable to qualify.
In the fall of 2017, with the support of an incredible team, I accomplished my goal to run 31 marathons in 31 days in 31 different cities. Beginning on Oct 12 in London, England and finishing on Nov 11 in Washington, DC, I ran 26.2 miles for 31 consecutive days in 31 major cities in the UK, Canada, and USA. In conjunction with this, my team raised over $200,000 for the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation."
What. A. Week!
We've done it all this week; Some really amazing things and some not so fun things to do:
Your World Within LIVE turned out to be more incredible than we could have ever imagined. We both have plenty of thoughts on how our individual talks could improve but overall, amazing day!
As we wrap up our first series on umcomfortability, South Florida is bracing for the impact of Hurricane Dorian. We hope you all love the new series-style episodes and we look forward to launching into our next series about "making changes,'' next week. If you're in our area, join us on September 7th at Margaritaville Resort in Hollywood Beach, FL. Also, If you're a Floridian or anywhere in the path of this storm, be safe!! We'll talk next week!!
Phil nails the purpose of the podcast!! Change is hard but don't waste your life with years of shit that doesn't matter. Some things don't always roll as smooth as YOU think that they should. Make the change anyway! The real growth in life ALWAYS happens during the most uncomfortable periods.
Today, we're joined by current Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant, Aaron Calderon. Gunny Calderon is serving as the Drill Master for The Marine Corps Barracks at 8th & I. After 20 years of service, Aaron is getting ready to transition out of the Corps and into civilian life. Create Your World Within. #70 we bring back our dear friend Eddie Pinero. Eddie is a pure example of taking uncomfortability and the unknown and completely owning it! So excited to have this talk with Eddie, as we dive in to pivotal moments and decisions during the biggest changes in his life! With the Your World Within LIVE event right around the corner on September 7th, this is the perfect preview of what to expect.
Jumping into the first week of our newish series format, we'll be talking about how important it is to stay uncomfortable. In #69 we get into some of the things we are doing now to stay outside our comfort zone, including stand-up comedy!
Restructuring. #68 .... As we restructure our lives, we see clearly what areas need improvement. We have decided to restructure the podcast in an effort to provide a more focused and valuable message. We're going to shift into a "season" structure and talk about one or two specific topics over the course of six weeks. After that, we will go off-air for two weeks and return with another Season of The 2Marines 1Mic Podcast.
Everyone Struggles... The title isn't meant to say that everyone struggles at the same time. This episode is a glimpse into some of the things we are going through at the moment and our plan to reverse the process. There is always someone there and willing to help. you just have to ask.
Lots going on in #66... We talk about mental health and why isolation is not a great idea for people struggling and the importance of reaching out to others. The community we've managed to build around us is the glue that keeps the ship together. Everyone wants to feel significant and people are inherently good. We have so many fun things and important dates coming up on the next couple months!! So exciting! August 4th, We take to the stage for more stand up comedy in Boca Raton, Florida. September 7th, We're speaking at the Your World Within Live event, here in South Florida with our good friend Eddie Pinero, as well as Alan and Kevin from the Hyperconcious Podcast.
What would you do for your friends? Does it include doing stand-up comedy for the first time ever in front of 100+ people? Probably not. Wade takes to the stage and delivers a surprisingly great set for our friend Danny. Hope you love it!
Time to get REALLLLLY real. In #63, we talk about some of the things that we are currently struggling with in our own lives and the processes we're employing to eliminate them. The process is everything. It's the journey and we can't go anywhere without a journey.
Happy Father's Day. In #62 we talk about being the example; not just for parents but for everyone that feels like they can do better in some area of their life. The easy way is rarely the best way and everything takes some sort of practice. Start keeping more promises to yourself and Be The Example for others to emulate.
This is an incredible episode chalk full of fun and interesting theories of better communication and presentation. We talk with renowned Speaking Coach, John Bates as we dive into the importance of communicating on an emotional level, rather than a level based on logic. humans are irrational and make choices based on feelings, not sound logic. There is a ton of stuff in this episode that will help you become, not only a better public speaker but, a better communicator all around.

In #50 we recap some of the ideas we express often and some of the amazing guests that have graced our show. If this is your first time listening, Welcome!! it's never too late to start right now!
Trust is the backbone of any relationship. We just happening to be talking about the relationship that exists between a company and its consumer. In this case, it's a literal consumer that ingests the products we are referencing. It is our duty, as business owners, as Veterans, as human beings with hearts and families to ensure that our customers can trust what we tell them. They expect that we have their best interests ahead of our own and that their safety and well being is more important than any dollar we can make from them. This is true for us and we will continue to do the right thing NO MATTER WHAT.
In All Honesty, the only thing that really matters is what you believe. If you believe in an idea, actually believe in it and, more importantly, believe in yourself. Because, In All Honesty, if you can't bet on yourself, who else is going to? Take action and then make a plan. Be patient and persistent.
In prep for a talk we gave to the Middle Schoolers at American Heritage Boca/Delray, we go really deep into what makes each of us who we are. A must listen! Neither of us ever "had it made." We've both worked and still work extremely hard to keep ourselves moving forward. Resourcefulness > Resources.
Communication is the foundation of every relationship we have. At the most basic level, communication is how we make people feel, not just by spoken word but, with our body language and intentions. SgtMaj. Mario Fields has had an extensive career leading Marines and is beginning his transition into civilian life. The Most Motivated Marine In The Marine Corps is the founder of Global Inspirational Speakers and Still Serving Inc. for-profit and not-for-profit speaking bureaus respectively. The Mission is to bring Dynamic Veteran Speakers to Corporate America to share their experiences.
Hard Work Works. Pro MMA fighter, bodybuilder, powerlifter, gym owner, and now the Strength and Conditioning Coach to the best MMA fighters in the World, Phil Daru is THE example of "if you want something, put the work in to get it." Pleasure talking with him about his process and everything in between.
The way people feel when they leave an interaction with you is their perception. What can we do to insure that we are communicating effectively and getting through the message we believe we are passing on. We can all become better communicators. MOD: Become aware of how people are interacting with you and how you're making them feel during that interaction.
In the past five years or so, there has been a lot of talk about "balance." What is balance? Is balance what I really even want? If so, what does that look like? After years of getting frustrated, I decided to stop chasing balance. At the end of it, I realized I never actually wanted "balance" in the first place. There will be chapters and points in your life where work will take up more focus than your home life; the opposite applies too. Stop seeking balance. it doesn't exist the way that you want it too. MOD: Be present in everything that you do and take time to work on yourself.
Here's Anthony's story, it's gnarly, gritty, and it's real. Overcoming adversity is an understatement when we look back into the early years of his life. But it doesn't stop there. With a family, new career and an "Own it" mindset, he'll inspire and encourage you no matter what your excuse is.
2019 is upon us!! What will you change this year? Better yet, HOW will you change it? Do you know where you're going? Dive in with us as we talk about failure, missed opportunity, and wasted potential. Goal Setting 101 will give you the tools you need to body slam 2019!! Who's in?! MOD: Start writing your goals down daily!!!
Deep dive into the mind of Ultra Endurance Athlete, Scott D'Angelo. We get into some of his most treasured victories like the Badwater 135 and his 300 mile run from Boca Raton, FL. to Jacksonville, FL. All while digging into what keeps you going under extreme stress and pain. Quitting is not an option. Tune in for another great episode. MOD: Earn the Day. Do something that makes you feel weird. Follow Scott @scottnesss
Limitations Are Self-Imposed!! Shortest podcast description ever. this is a must listen!!! MOD: Challenge every Grievance with Gratitude. Chris Ruden: @ChrisRuden ChrisRuden.com
Former Navy Seal, Justin Knowles joins us for episode #32 of the 2Marines 1Mic Podcast. Welcome to the thunder dome of military podcasts. We have been in contact with Justin for a couple of months and are absolutely inspired by the value and practical, uplifting content he shares through his platforms. We get into topics like: your inner circle, YOLO, and the importance of routine and small changes. MOD: Make a SMALLLLLL change to start your self-improvement process. 1% better each day for 100 days equals 100% better!! FOLLOW AND KEEP UP WITH JUSTIN!! Instagram: @Military Podcast: The Justin Knowles Project
Super cool to have Gunnery Sergeant, Jesse Wu on the podcast. We've been in contact with him for quite some time, sending instagram videos back and forth to get our points across. Now, we cornered him for almost an entire hour!! We talk about professionalism, and other character traits we have all learned as Marines and how we continue to employ them even after we part ways with service on Active Duty. MOD: Hold the door for someone orrrrr say the proper greeting of the day to someone who has no idea who the hell you are. FOLLOW GUNNY WU on the Instagram!! @gysgtwu
You can deliver the same message over and over again, in a million different ways, to the same people. It only takes one of these times for that same message to strike the cord necessary to institute change. Bottom line, get off the friggin couch!! MOD: Step out of your comfort zone. Put yourself one step closer to the ideal position you see yourself in by ignoring that little voice thats telling you you can't. YOU CAN! WE BELIEVE IN YOU. If you can't do it for yourself, do it for us!!!
How Many or How Much? What is it that you aren't willing to give up to become the best version of yourself? Is it a dead-end job? A bad relationship? "Friends" that are bringing you down? Or even something as little as one less episode of your favorite show? Start taking a hard look where you can exert some good energy into something positive and impactful both for you, and the people around you. YOU ARE THE EXAMPLE.
In #28, we get into our criteria for guests on the show. Also, we talk a little bit about failure and indecision. You have to take action one way or the other. MOD: Figure out what you need work on within yourself. Is it your body (hardware)? Or, is it your software (brain) that needs an upgrage?
Once again, it's so incredible to be 27 episodes in and have such an amazing and growing community listening to us every week. In this episode Phil talks about taking the first step, getting started, and exactly what it means to put the action in. "It's not what you know. It's what you do with what you know." MOD: Break the cycle. Make a change. Get started on your true path TODAY!!
The way we make people feel is more important than what we say. How do people feel after interacting with you?? How can we get better? The goal is to make our lives and the lives of those around us better and easier; not more chaotic and confusing.
WOW!! 25 episodes!! We're extremely grateful for all who are listening and watching this right now! Thank you! In 25, you are the key to your success. If you don't help yourself get right first, you will be incapable of effectively helping those around you. Be the change you want to see in the world and be the leader you wish you had.
Own The Dash is the concept of being accountable, and living your best life. It has everything to do with the changes you can make in your life, and nothing to do with the parts you can't necessarily control; the day you're born and the day you die. Some key points to take away: 1. Picture your life like a lifeboat. If you have people in your boat that aren't paddling, kick 'em the fuck out of your boat. 2. Do everything you can to help the people around you. If we ALL are willing to help each other, the world becomes a better place. 3. The second you get too busy to help others, you FAIL. Social: Dakota Meyer: IG: @DakotaMeyer0317 FB: Dakota Meyer Twitter: @Dakota_Meyer
Phil and Wade deep dive in to the nitty gritty of self confidence. Phil runs away with the mic on this one. They talk about common struggles with confidence that everyone can relate to. Being confident in yourself has everything to do with how useful you are to other people. Confidence equals effectiveness. If you don’t believe that you can do a good job, how can you do a good job for somebody else? Pick out the things that you don’t like in your life and start there. MOD: Do a good fucking job at being a good person.
Sacrifice Everything.... What does that mean? is it open for interpretation? We all have things that we hold onto that are clearly preventing us from becoming the best versions of ourselves. If you can't sacrifice the little things, the big, great, things may never come. If you're sitting there nodding your head "yes," make the change. What's your "WHY?" M.O.D: Make a MINOR adjustment in your life, sacrifice one happy hour, eat one less taco, go to bed an hour earlier, or stay up an hour later.... It's your mission!! do you!
