Cindy Robinson

This podcast is intended to be a place parents (or any adults for that matter) can go to get resources and advice on all things mental health, parenting, and realizing a passion. We speak with entrepreneurs, experts, doctors, therapists, scientists, moms and so much more about the components to living a truly fulfilled life. This is no generic "lean in" podcast... here you will get the information you can use to grow, heal, and embrace yourself and others. Come with us on a journey to redifine success!

Michelle is a very talented and very recognized event planner in Atlanta and beyond. She owns Lemiga Events, which specializes in full service planning and event design. She has earned her name for herself, mostly due to her ability to take small intimate details about the person or couple, and translate it into a lavish event everyone enjoys and no one will forget! I enjoyed sitting down with her briefly and discussing how she juggles two high demand jobs: event planning and motherhood.

Today’s episode is about high schoolers. I knew I wanted to talk to a high school teacher since they are on the front lines of the high school climate. The first person who came to mind is Kristy Ventre because I would have LOVED to have had a teacher like her when I was in school! She also happens to own her own business called Ventres Adventures, which specializes in study abroad programs for high schoolers. We talk a lot about the importance of travel and what her advice would be for any high school student and any parent of a high schooler.

Today’s episode features a mom who knows a thing or two about juggling family with business. I think it is important to highlight moms who are out there killing it as mothers and following their own passions. Sumhr Giboney perfectly personifies this message. She is the owner and creator of Pollyann Collection, custom wood signs you’ve probably seen all over your instagram feed and all over atlanta. I was so excited to talk to her about the juggle and the struggle of balancing motherhood with business.

I knew I wanted to do an episode on babies for a while now because I feel like new parents are bombarded with information. I think they are given the impression every decision they make can make or break their child. So I wanted to talk to someone who could really lay out what we should worry about, and what we shouldn’t. Allie Horne is a nurse practitioner and owner of The New Normal, a parent support business that combines the competence of a medical professional, compassion of a friend, and empathy of a fellow parent.

Today’s episode is about nice girls, and particularly nice girls in business. And I can’t think of a better entrepreneur to talk to than Michelle Carlton. She runs a branding company called Just Styling, is the co-owner of Pop up at 8th, and wife (and creative director) to the Not as Famous cookie company. She’s so nice she agreed to sit down with me and talk about how in a time of badasses and boss girls, where do us nice girls belong? I think a lot of women will be able to relate to this episode, I hope you enjoy it.

I am releasing a special bonus episode in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th. I sat down with Teresa Ruspi, the co-founder of the Better Than Yesterday LRJ Foundation which was started in honor of her brother, who she lost to suicide. The foundation is aimed providing awareness and education to schools and the community about mental health and suicide prevention. I appreciated she made time in her busy schedule to sit down and talk with me, I hope anything we have to say can be helpful to at least one family in identifying their child may be at risk and getting them the help they need.

This episode is all about starting something from scratch and Lizeth Gomez is a great person to talk to because she started an amazing creative business from her living room! Moms Kloset is a balloon design business. She has designed for all events including weddings, conferences, launch parties, and even Cardi B's baby shower! She is open about how she did it, who helped her along the way, and the even mistakes she made (secretly, this podcast is her apology letter to ATL Bucket List - haha). Listen to this if you are a creative person, want to start a small business, or just love hearing the story of a great mom who found her passion!

I am talking with Marni Grodzin, owner of Gathered & Grounded about all things teen. She is the teen queen, Gathered & Grounded is like a community center for kids and teens - except a community center they actually want to go to. As she perfectly puts it, if it's legal, it's allowed. In this episode I tried to get an understanding of what we should and shouldn’t worry about, and what it’s like to be a teen in today’s world.

This episode I discuss failure with Keon Davis, owner of the Smooth n Groove smoothie trucks. Keon is far from a failure, but he has seen his share of struggles and has a lot of insight to share on how he overcame them. Hint: crying is a business strategy. Because Keon was honest and open enough to talk about how close he came to taking his life, I am using this episode as an opportunity to share the Suicide Prevention Lifeline - 1800-273-8255.

Meet Cindy Robinson, host of the Go Get Mom podcast. She is the founder and creator of The Kid Factory, a community project aimed at raising awareness about the mental health crisis our kids and teens are facing. She decided to start the podcast in an effort to reach and effect more families on a deeper level. She has learned to cope with her own childhood trauma and in turn wants to help others do the same. She works in Atlanta as a mindfulness curriculum coordinator (a job she proudly made up herself) at a children's counseling center. She has had a strange and winding path to her career, but she attributes most of what she knows to the school of hard knocks. She describes herself as chronically curious and aptly anxious, and has the simple dream of ending the rise of anxiety, depression, and suicide in kids and teens. She is supported and loved by a very patient husband and a very insightful son. In her down time she loves on her farm animals, travels, and loves a good craft!
