In March of 2019, we launched the Business & Technology Show on YouTube. The purpose was to help other local business engage and use social media, promoting their business in the local community. The popularity grew and grew and now by request we have converted the show to a podcast.

For sure we face some challenging times ahead, so what to do, we could all be facing real uncertainty as inflation goes up, interest rates go up, and the stock markets start to slide, lets not forget about energy

You only need to see the impact on Crypto Currency over the last week and realised that investors are beginning to pull their money out, we saw LUNA go from £88 to pretty much ZERO and other coins tumble.

Following this the US markets dropped further as the real threat of inflation and recession becomes a reality.

“That sounds like a lot of Doom and Gloom right there Alistair” - I hear you say

That is not my point, I’m not fear peddling, but if you are not looking to the horizon then you’re not seeing what is coming over the hill

As business owners we can do one of three things

✔ 1. Ignore it, do nothing, and hope for the best
✔ 2. Hide under the duvet although it might smell like farts
✔ 3. Start to plan and have a strategy to navigate, mitigate any potential threats

Yes I’m a number 3, I don’t panic I plan, it would be such a shame to see some of the newly created small businesses here on LinkedIn be affected because of potential threats that can be avoided.

Asking for help is never easy, as we all like to navigate our own ships, but if you need to, please find suitable qualified business advice that stops you potentially hitting an iceberg

Ok, you have probably guessed by now that I’m a bit of a data geek, especially when it comes to business data and helping customers understand what you have and how you can use it.

As you might imagine there are loads of statistics I can quote and there are some numbers later in the article.

However, in this article what I wanted to do is explain some of the importance of how you can use your business data more effectively.

First let’s look at the history of digital transformation, and see where it all began.

Going back to the 1990’s for a moment, the typical office was full of paper and filing cabinets, I remember when I started my career as a software engineer, developer notes and release documents were not only something that eventually got printed, but many were handwritten.
