Tonight, Dave concludes our final instalment in this series by looking at the charge in 2 Timothy 4:5, to “be watchful in all things”. We explore these final words that Paul pens to his spiritual son Timothy and see the call upon all of us to watch, but to live out the call of God upon all of our lives.
Grant teaches from 2 Timothy 2:15 and reminds us that before we can rightly divide the Word we must first spend time deep in study of the Word which will lead us into finding our approval in our Father and not being ashamed to stand for Him. Out of this place we will be able to speak the truth precisely, assertively and with confidence.
Go back to the Bible and take a look at the men and women who did great things for God. Almost without exception, they were risk-takers who weren’t afraid to lay it all on the line for God. Tonight we look at Timothy’s charge from Paul to CONTINUE in what he had been raised in…to continue in, remain in, and stay in what he had learned and believed. I can hear Paul say, “Conserve the truth that you know and trust. Don’t leave it”. (2 Timothy 3:14-17)
Robbie teaches from the fourth Charge to Timothy found in 2 Timothy 4:1-5 and reminds us of the utmost importance of preaching the Word. How it is vital that we know the Word and continue to grow in it and gives some biblical advice of how we can preach the Word in our everyday lives.
Tash teaches from the 3rd Charge to Timothy found in 2 Timothy 2:1-5 and reminds us the we start in grace, we stand in grace and we are sustained by grace, and we allow that grace to overflow out of our lives and into others, starting a chain reaction of disciple-making within our church communities.
Continuing on with the charges to Timothy Katy looks at the importance of ‘holding fast’ to the truth in a world that will do anything to distract us from it and why we must be people who model this truth out in our lives.
Tonight Dave begins our new series by exploring who Timothy was and his relationship to Paul. We then unpack the first charge in 2 Timothy to “fan into flame the gift”.
