Ep. 21 - Taking Creative Risks To Build Stronger Relationships With Bridget Quigg by Contact Mapping
“I look back when I first started in this profession and, you know, I think I was trying so hard to be someone else or, I was trying so hard to like learn scripts and you know, what to say and what not to say. And it almost became like robotic, you know, and people sense that and they feel that, you know, and so when I started really doing a lot of the personal development, I think that’s when a lot of my relationship skills were enhanced because, you know, I had a mentor that said read How To Win Friends and Influence People. So read the whole, the book the entire way through, and then read the first three chapters three times and it’ll change your life forever.”

“I hear it all the time from women…oh you’re so good at that but I’m just not a salesman. Oh okay, you’ve sold me. Hmmm. We all sell and we just don’t realize it. But I hate the word “sell” anyway. What I do know is that I am a master at creating relationships. People like me, people trust me, and people tell me their secrets. Why? I care, I hear them, deeply. We all want to be HEARD. Listening is a skill and I can teach anyone to be a good listener.”
-Denice Chenault
“So you’re not relying on the outside world, or you’re not relying on your results, your outcome to motivate you, but you’re creating a fire within that motivates you regardless of what kind of results you’re producing and what I found in coaching people, not only in network marketing, but in all areas of life is motivation was number one.”
-Richard Bliss Brooke
“Well, that's where it really does come down to relationships because people think that you're going to do this digital online marketing and then all of a sudden, just people are going to sign up on your website and they're going to do this and that doesn't happen. That doesn't happen, you know, may happen for your parent company because you've got that brand out there. But until you've got that big of a brand, that's even then you have to, you know, some of the "bigs" in this industry and they still have to reach out and get into a relationship. They still have to pick up the phone or get on Zoom. I love Zoom because you get to see people and get to see what's, you know, going on for them and really get a glimpse into who they are and what their life is. So I think that the new school stuff, the digital stuff, it makes things go fast. It makes it go fast, but you still got to go back to, you got to be in relationship with people and that's why it's so important to keep track of, "Oh shoot! Who am I supposed to be talking to today?"
-Joy Kelly
“So here's some tips and tricks and secrets and hacks. One, learn people's names. Before you learn what they do, learn who they are. Learn their name. People love to hear their name. They love when people remember their name. Notice something about people that you sincerely notice, and compliment them on it. Pay attention. When you go and you meet a lot of people in a given space, like we're at an event right now. Here's something that's really cool. You'll go to an event, and you'll meet a ton of people. The average interaction with somebody you don't know is going to be 90 seconds, with somebody who's running here, somebody's running there. People waste 90 seconds with small talk to the point that 10 seconds after the person has left, you can't even remember their name. Instead, when you meet somebody, ask them their name, ask them where they're from and then say to them, "Please tell me something about yourself that you don't usually share with people, but you want me to know to make sure that I never forget you." That is a great introduction with people that you don't know, and you will never forget them, and they will share something they don't usually share, and they will never forget you.”
-Lisa Grossmann
“What's held true is relationships. Making contact, getting info to the people, whether that is a tool. What's changed? When I started in this industry, if you wanted to get information to somebody, you picked up the phone and called them, on a landline, not a cell phone. There was no texting, there were no computers. What's changed is of course now at the touch of a button, you can be right in front of them on Zoom or Skype and that communication. And they can not only read the information, you can speak the information and they can see the whites of your eyes. And that makes a big difference for people. And so the time and the technology has just changed… this is the time to be in network marketing. Never as there has been a history in time when we've had so many avenues and tools and technology to allow us to really build.”
-Chuck Gates
“The beautiful thing about network marketing is of course that you don't have to wait for the one to be done before you can do the other, you do them simultaneously. And so my journey really, I embraced the personal development part of the business. I knew that to lead others, I needed to lead myself first. And certainly for the first couple of years and continuously still it was really just about developing myself to lead others. And I think a lot of network marketers might get that wrong. They might think it's about the product or the service or the comp plan or whatever. But really it's about your own personal growth, your own commitment to becoming a better leader. And once you do that people start to follow you more. So I was really committed to that process.”

“My goal every day is to make a friend and start a conversation, ask questions, be interested in the other person, listen and really genuinely care about what they're saying. And I think so many times, and I did this for years where I couldn't get a relationship started or it would crumble or, I'd be so frustrated because nothing's working. I can't stay connected with this person or it's uncomfortable for me or I can't move it into maybe some business when it started at our friend relationship to start with. And one thing I had to start doing is I had to start being more present. I had to listen more. I had to ask questions where I would get to know about that person and really find out what we have in common and what we can start talking about and what we can start laughing about and, just growing closer together. And when you do all those things, here's what I know what happens; is they, their guard goes down, they like you more, they trust you more, they're more open to hearing maybe what you have to offer from a product service standpoint, a business standpoint. And they're more open to look at things and do things once that is established.” -Tony Zolecki
“This business is oftentimes referred to as relationship marketing. I like that term because it really does speak to the fact that a lot of what our business consists of is indeed built on our relationships.”
-Ed Wiens
“When you see their eyes start to shine, you know you've found something that resonates with them. Then, you can ask more, and go down that particular path. People love to talk about what they love.”
-Jeff Olson
“You have to be interested genuinely in what they do and what they need. And once that happens, then you're going to turn your things around.”
-Dino Nedelko
“I can tell you the reason I've been able to build relationships is because I put the relationship before the business and I put the friendship before the business so people know when I come at them with something or approach them with something or we're talking about something, I'm talking to them as a person”
-Anthony Napolitano
“When you're looking to build relationships on social media, especially on social media where everything is a highlight reel or a catfish, be your own real self. Because ultimately, that is what will attract the people to you that need to be in your life and vice versa whose life that you need to be in. Tell your story. Talk about things that you love. “ -Lindsey Tronolone
“A sustainable business you only can build if you are building relationships with people. People trust you.” - Torsten Sedlmeier
”Intentionally meeting new people every day, intentionally connecting new people every day, and thirdly, appreciating people every day. Those three things can create an explosion in the success of your business.” - Jordan Adler
“The absolute fundamental philosophy that I live by is make everyone feel like they're someone. That's it. So, I don't like any separation from "Well you're a massive loser, you're a huge success." I like to bring people as close together as possible.” -Frazer Brookes
“We can't sell anything unless we have what I call relationship marketing. And what that means is that you are first of all building and then you are nurturing. And hopefully it's authentic because people can smell it when it's not. And people have been saying this for so long, it's the know, like, and trust factor.” -Haley Hobson
“The reason I've had success year in and year out is because I build relationship capital. I stay connected with people, reaching out to people and my brain is not perfect. I keep records and you guys have got an app for that which is amazing, that allows people to stay connected to people” -Todd Falcone
