What story do you want to be told about you and the business you created? If you want it to be one of success, one of creating a better world, one of inspiration and influence, one of making lots of money, one of having time for friends and family, one of serving others, and one that you are genuinely proud of, then this podcast is for you. This show is a platform designed to help change the story about women in business and entrepreneurship. Change the story told about us, to us and most importantly change the story we tell ourselves.
This show will inspire, motivate and empower women, myself included, it will also share strategies and tools, so that we all rise together and change the story of women in business and entrepreneurship. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
I believe that our education systems and how our society is structured traps us. We are taught to fit within a mold so that we are ‘employable’ and can hopefully find a job that allows us enough pay to live comfortably and gives us a few weeks off a year.
Yet inflation is skyrocketing, the cost of living is outrageous and people feel disconnected from things that genuinely make them come alive.
We need change.
I know for many of you reading this, you feel that way too as entrepreneurship is about taking a step away from all of that.
For almost a year now I have been exploring blockchain technology (crypto) and web3.
There are many things that overlap with my passions and curiosities. Entrepreneurship, sovereignty, community care, innovation, philosophy, and more.
Like every sector there are people in the space whose only real objective is making money with little regard for others.
However there's also an emergence of concepts and ways of creating that previously could only work in small microscopic ways.
On this week's podcast I explore ways in which you could possibly use these things in your own business. As well we explore public goods, community resource sharing, regenerative economics that value the environment and sustaining it, trying to solve complex philosophical problems in the open, building out systems that can help mass amounts of people achieve financial freedom through shared rewards and more.
The more time I spend learning the more I can see how revolutionary it can be if we empower ourselves to learn about it.
There is a massive learning curve, but I fundamentally believe it is worth it.
I also believe that online entrepreneurs like you and I are so close to it already as we need to keep up with changing directions of the internet.
Always feel free to hit reply if you have any questions or shoot me a message on IG (@lanadingwall) or twitter (@lanzdingz)
Our world is shifting and I want to ensure that people who are community oriented have the tools and resources needed to participate in this space - otherwise it’s just going to be the same old power systems.
We have an opportunity to make a shift, but it’s going to require enough of us to learn and actively participate. I’ll be using my podcast to help with that and I hope you follow along and learn how you can use this technology in your own business as well.
You’re doing better than you realize.
Until next week,

Have you ever found yourself anxiously anticipating something?
Maybe it’s small like a task you need to complete or maybe it’s a large goal that requires you to push big-time out of your comfort zone. No matter the gap between where you are now and where you want to be, anxiety, fear, doubt, all exist primarily in the anticipation of something- not the act of it. Why is that?
It’s mostly because when we’re in the act of doing something we’re present and in action mode - which leaves little cognitive space for fear and anxiety to show up. This means that when we’re doing hard things that can bring about big rewards for ourselves, we’re not actually thinking about how hard it is - we’re simply doing it.
This perspective and reminder can help us make progress on our biggest goals and dreams because it reminds us that often the most anxiety shows up in the anticipation of doing something big - not while actually doing it.
This is what we explore in more detail in this weeks podcast episode. I remind myself of this when I find myself overthinking a situation, which tends to leave me stalling even though I really want this thing to happen.
I hope this perspective shift helps you as it has me. As always you’re doing better than you realize, and you have what it takes to accomplish your dreams.
I believe in you and I hope to chat with you next week

If you’re on social media and work in the space of entrepreneurship and/or spirituality you’ve most likely heard the term self sovereign over the past few years.
I wanted to dive a little deeper into what I feel it means and why it is directly connected to community care - because sometimes when I hear people use it, it just comes off as inherently selfish and not empowering at all.
Self sovereignty and community care are highly interconnected. The more empowering and expansive a community is, the more sovereign you become. Why is this? It’s because they teach you to use the tools and resources within you over telling you you need them (the community) and must conform to their rules and boxes to fit in.
Being sovereign is less about doing everything yourself and it's more about interacting with the world in a way that's fully you. Sometimes that means having full responsibility over yourself to help protect and ensure your freedom AND sometimes it's allowing others to do what they're great at (and love) so that you can do what you're great at - because this is also a form of protecting yourself. This protects your time and helps ensure you have the freedom to pursue what you love.
This week I dive further into this topic and explore how it intersects with entrepreneurship, web3, philosophy, mindfulness and more. Check out the episode here.
Many of us yearn for something different, but if we don’t explore community and sovereignty as interconnected, we might end up building more of what we already have.
Our individual freedom does not need to come at the expense of our community and our community doesn’t need to come at the expense of ourselves.
I believe things like entrepreneurship, web3, mindfulness and other things can help us build a more sustainable and flourishing community for all of us.
Until next week,
Lana

A few weeks ago IG announced it was beta testing integrating NFTs onto its platform and so far things are going well.
Youtube, Meta (aka facebook), Amazon, Shopify, Stripe and other content hosting platforms and commerce based businesses now officially all have web3 teams who are using, building, and integrating blockchain technology.
What the heck does this mean?!
It means that many of the platforms, applications and tools we use in our businesses are taking web3 seriously - which means that we should too.
This doesn’t mean drop everything and go deep dive (unless you want to of course), but it does mean that starting to get curious and learn more about them is important.
If we look back on even just the last 5 years, a lot of social media platforms have shifted, content creation looks different, technology is more advanced and we can do cooler things and it's easier than ever to get paid online doing something you love.
It’s safe to say that the same will be true 5 years from now.
Web3 isn’t a destination, it's simply the evolution of the internet. We started with read only, then went to read and write (where we are now) and its moving to read, write, own. Ownership means we own our content, data etc the same way we do our email lists and websites, but not really anything else we create on the internet.
This week's podcast episode dives into some of what this will look like, how you can learn more and some ideas on how you might utilize some of this technology in your own business.
If you’re curious about learning more or even how to create your own NFT, social token or something else web3 related, my inbox is always open to help.
Just like we talked about last week, little steps add up. Learning even a little bit today, can help you tomorrow.
You’ve got this!

It is very common for us to view ourselves as 3 separate people. There is our past self, our current self, and our future self. The reality though is there is only one us.
This isn’t to say we stay the same, we know we are constantly changing. What I mean though, is that without changing something today, nothing will change in the future - except that time itself has passed.
Sometimes by thinking our future self will somehow be more equipped, more motivated, more responsible than our current, self tricks us into forgetting who we are right now has to make the shifts needed for that to actually transpire.
I will not be able to retire in the future, if I don’t start saving today.
Right now inflation is at an all time high, stocks and crypto are crashing, housing prices (in Canada) are insanely high and outpacing people’s average income levels. These are stressful times - they are also times of opportunity.
What small things can be done today, to help set you up tomorrow?
How can delaying our desire for instant gratification, create an opportunity for us to think about the box in a way that will reward us in 5 years time?
I remember being younger and thinking about my ‘adult self’ and who I would become. I still think about this future self and who I will ‘become’ even though I already am the future self of younger 23 year old Lana. My current self, is my past selves, future self (try and figure that one out LOL).
I realize that today and everyday I have an opportunity to do small things that are in support of not just who I am now, but who I will inevitably become too - because we are one and the same.
I dive more into this topic on this weeks podcast episode. I also cover my take on the crypto/stock crash, what my gameplan is and how I personally am looking to hedge inflation, our current economic times and how I’m working on my future, today.
You’re doing better than you realize.

Many of us can feel as though we’re in a race to reach ‘the finish line’ in our business and lives. We look to those around us to determine if we’re ahead or behind and this can create a sense of urgency. The reality is that we aren’t actually in a race, we will most likely never feel like we ‘crossed the finish line’ and we aren’t competing with anyone either.
When this feeling is used in a healthy way to motivate us it can be motivating, however many of us use it to stress ourselves out.
There are so many different ways to build out and get to where we want in life. Rushing through everything because we feel we’re behind or that someone else is going to get there before us leads us away from not only enjoying ourselves, but potentially not getting as much out of everything as we can.
When we slow down we’re able to make better decisions. When we give ourselves time for sweat equity we can often do incredible things at a fraction of the cost. We are able to explore new ways of creating and going about building whatever we’re building because we are more focused on the process rather than the imaginary race and finish line.
We explore this topic in more detail, including how slowing down and ‘taking the long road’ has helped me on this week's podcast episode.
You are not in a race, time is not running out and the only person you’re competing with is yourself - and even though it's actually better to just team up with yourself than anything else. Doing things today that help out your future self, allows you to build on what you’ve already created and done.
You are doing way better than you realize.
Have you ever found yourself working countless hours on something only to realize that you want to throw it away?
Not because you don’t love the overarching thing you created, but because you feel so burnt out by the process and the idea of doing it again makes your heart sink. Sometimes how we build something affects our ability to do it long term.
One of the most important things we can do, that most people struggle with, is creating systems that align with who we are and how we thrive vs what we think we’re supposed to do.
How can one know what will work without first trying different things? The reality is we can’t fully know until we try. Which is why when you’re in those first few years of business you want to avoid putting all your eggs into one basket.
I have seen so many entrepreneurs burnt out, wanting to throw in the towel because they are spinning their wheels going nowhere. The reason they’re stuck is because they are in the wrong gear and need to adjust.
As an example I am someone who thrives with real time conversations, problem solving and coaching. Pre recorded coaching content (aside from my podcast because it's conversational) actually drains me because it is missing the key ingredient for me - interaction. I could spend a full week live working with people and feel I have more energy than if I spent that same week recording the exact same content solo. For some people it is the exact opposite. This is why we need to take ourselves into account when we build - we are the backbone of what we’re creating after all.
This week's podcast episode we dive into how we have the choice to build in meaningful ways. That also means we have a responsibility to ourselves, to figure out what systems make sense for who we are and what allows us to thrive. At the end of the day if we thrive, our businesses thrive as well.
You owe it to yourself to create something that makes sense for who you are.
Keep being awesome and chat with you next week!

What if you could build out your content and business in a way that rewarded you AND your audience economically? With blockchain technology you can.
Technology has always had a huge impact on how businesses interacted with their audiences. Email, social media, youtube etc have all shifted the relationship between us and our customers over the last 15 years. Believe it or not, there was a time when people did not understand why they would need a website, or email address and why they would interact with their customers in that way.
Social tokens and NFTs could bring about a new shift in how we create and build our business. In 5 years it’s possible that they will be as common as email. NFTs can be used as coupons, tickets to VIP events, a membership pass to your community and more. Social tokens can be used to ‘cash in’ on certain things only available to holders (think mid way and how you would win tokens and cash them in for a prize), used to vote on what cities you host events in, what topics they want to learn about, or used to get 1 on 1 time with you, etc. There are new and creative ways of engaging with our audience emerging through blockchain technology that allows us to build wealth and create income AND can allow our audience to do the same (they can buy and sell your nft as an example).
I dive deeper into this topic this week on the podcast.
If you’ve been wanting to shake up how you currently offer some of your services or products and have an interest in learning more about web3, this could be a fun way to learn.
Artists, musicians, content creators and all sorts of creators are building with web3 tools (aka blockchain) to create new markets, offers and ways of relating with their audiences.
As always, there's no rush for you to learn more about this space. I want to keep dropping information here and there as I do believe it's really interesting with a lot of potential for us entrepreneurs and creators.

How many times have you spent countless hours of your life stressing out about social media and having to learn something new, yet again, in order to keep up with its changing rules of engagement?
Since starting my coaching business about 6 years ago I feel like I have whiplash from having to learn something, create a new strategy around it, only to have it need to change within 6 months.
The reality is that running a successful business using social media requires us to be very agile.
That seems acceptable if the ONLY thing we had to worry about was in fact social media. But the reality is that most render services, or offer products that have NOTHING to do with social media. That means that we end up spending more time trying to figure out how to market ourselves than we do actually doing the things that have the biggest impact.
The reality is that social media platforms need content creators more than we need them. Social media is a tool, and has made running a business easier in a lot of ways, but we forget that there are other marketing strategies out there that don’t require as many pivots.
I dive deeper into this topic on this week's podcast episode. We also talk about how struggling with marketing doesn’t reflect the quality of what you do - it simply reflects how good you are at explaining it. Those aren’t the same things.
Social media is a tool, but many of us act as if it's the only real measure of success - that’s how good these platforms are at convincing us we need them. Just remember though that without content creators (aka anyone that posts or creates videos), well no one would really use these platforms…..
You are doing better than you’re giving yourself credit for.
You’ve got this and I’ll chat with you next week.

What if there was a way to retain the autonomy, creativity, freedom and innovation of entrepreneurship, but also have the community, structure and support of others that we sometimes miss when running a business by ourselves?
This is what has me so intrigued with DAOs - decentralized, autonomous, organizations. Think of a startup business meeting a community driven project, meeting a bunch of self motivated people coming together to share resources to make money and achieve a goal.
They aren’t a new concept, in fact they first popped up in the 80s but because of limitations in banking, trusting each other with money and location limits they didn’t really catch fire. Enter blockchain technology, the internet, and things like zoom and now we have an opportunity to reshape how we work with each other, get paid and create change in whatever area interests us.
I sort of fell into working as a contributor with a DAO (Blu3DAO) simply because its mission aligned with mine (helping people make more money while having a greater impact) and was enjoying the community centric nature of what I was experiencing. Next thing I know I’m a governor (think board of directors), a contributor (think freelancer), my partner and I were given the power and funding to pick 35 strangers (and 3 people we met in Denver) to bring to Rio, Brazil. Once there those strangers quickly became friends and we helped many of them start their own DAOs and projects (NFTs etc) and helped secure funding for them to launch.
The best part was that no one there knew that I run my own coaching and consulting business (expect my partner Kate of course), but people kept telling me how good I was at coaching and consulting. LOL the power of doing what you love, and knowing you love it no matter what environment you’re in.
It’s one of the reasons I’m excited about the potential of DAOs. For many of us, we love what we do and we never want to be in a position where someone else is telling us what we need to do or how to do it, but we still miss getting to create with others.
DAOs are designed to reward self motivated, innovative, action takers. There is no CEO or ‘person in charge’. There might be leaders and core team members but they are simply people who have more responsibility on whatever goal your DAO is working towards - but that doesn't mean they have more power or authority - it does mean though they can have a greater impact on the project.
Being a serial entrepreneur, I know that some of the ideas and projects I want to bring to life will require me to work with others, but I also know that I don’t want to be a ‘CEO’. I want collaborators, co conspirators, not employees. DAOs are the first time I’ve felt that I could create those larger projects without having to do it alone, and without having to be the bottleneck CEO that is responsible for everything. Working with my amazing business partner for Astrid Park has taught me a lot about how nice it is to have a teammate.
It’s also worth mentioning that people often work in different DAOs, or like me, have whole other businesses that they run. The space is designed for cross pollination, it encourages people to be creative and do their own thing and you choose to work together because you have shared goals, not because you ‘need a job’.
If you’re interested in learning more, have questions (or concerns), as always feel free to hit reply. I also dive into this topic more on this week’s podcast episode. Check it out here.
Entrepreneurship for me has always been about innovation, expression, bringing ideas to life and getting to choose what and how I spend my time. If you’re the same, DAOs might be something fun to look into, even if it’s just to learn.
Keep being awesome my friend!
The very first thing I need to make clear when talking about the metaverse, is that it is NOT owned by Facebook, nor are people that interested in what Facebook is building. Why?
Because most people in the web3 space, myself included, are most interested in decentralization. Meaning no one person, government, entity or company has full control or ownership.
The other reality is that we already live in the metaverse. I am writing this while in Rio, Brazil, and you will read it wherever you are. I host many workshops, Lighthouse Collective calls and sessions with clients via zoom. I take photos and videos of what's happening around me, post them on social media and you are able to see those regardless of where you are.
The metaverse isn’t this official place you go to, it's simply the integration of technology into our lives, and that is already here.
On this week's episode I dive more into this, as well as why it's okay to resist and not want to partake, and also some reasons why I hope you remain curious.
The same way social media and email has transformed the ways people run businesses from over a few decades ago, the metaverse (think more an evolution of tech than a place) will also transform how we run our businesses in the future.
Being aware of what's shifting isn’t to make us fomo into jumping on ‘the next thing’ as there will always be the next thing. It’s more about being open and curious, learning a bit here and there and when we feel ready exploring in a more serious and tangible way.
As always you’re doing far better than you’re giving yourself credit for.
You’ve got this and I’ll chat with you next week.

Many people (myself included) pursue the illusion of power, because under the surface what we desire is freedom and we think this is the only way to get it.
The only way I can be free is to have so much power, that no one can have authority (ie control) over me. Because we live in a world of haves and have nots, I need more power, money, status and things than other people to ensure I am one of the ‘haves’, someone at the top of the pecking order. *(having power and being empowered are not the same thing)
I am happy to say that years ago I gave up that ideology and way of relating with the world and others - but I'd be lying if I said it still doesn't creep up on me from time to time.
I believe that true freedom means freedom for all. This doesn’t mean getting to do whatever we want, whenever we want, without any regard for others and without consequences. We are so vastly interconnected in ways we can’t even comprehend, that we need to respect each other and part of that means understanding that I will have some peramatures where my freedom might bump into someone else's, and that freedom isn’t an all or nothing thing.
Power though, well now when I have power I don’t need to respect anyone, I can just squash bulldoze right on over them because I have more power.
You might be asking what the heck this has to do with entrepreneurship, and I would say everything.
Many of us (as I did) build out our businesses and lives wanting more power and often what can happen is it leads us off course. It leads us away from the things that bring us joy and instead have us focusing on accumulating more because more = power and we confuse power with freedom.
Freedom means the beautiful space to be you - to live the life you want, not the one others tell you to want - to be able to express yourself in ways that light you up vs the ones ‘you must do to grow your business’.
We dive deeper into this philosophical discussion on this week's podcast episode which you can listen to here.
I still want to be powerful (AND empowered), I just know that the power I seek comes with significant responsibility and I never want it to come at the expense of someone else ‘having to lose’.
I believe that pondering certain kinds of questions helps us better understand ourselves, what we desire and what we’re truly looking to create.
Are you potentially confusing power and freedom? Have you maybe been living in a paradigm where there needs to be losers in order for there to be winners? Or do you live in a world where we’re all able to win, we just need to work together to get there?
Keep being awesome my friend and together we can, will and already are creating a different world together.

There is so much (and this seems common unfortunately) going on in the world right now that can make us feel overwhelmed.
I’ve been in many conversations with people asking ‘is there any hope of changing these systems’ and while all I have is my own opinion, I believe decentralization (which is KEY) and blockchain technology has the power to change the world.
I recently got back from ETHdenver, which is a conference dedicated to ecosystem of blockchain technologies that align with the values of ethereum (decentralized, open sourced, community oriented, giving power back to everyday people, creating systems not limited by geopolitical location, gender, race, age, work status, social economic status, even langage).
I listened to people speaking about reforestation efforts that utilize blockchain technology to cut through all the bureaucracy allowing them to plant trees 100x, sometimes 1000x faster than current systems.
I learnt about efforts to restistbute wealth and create basic income for people outside of government programs, and relying on grants and taxing people.
I learnt about programs designed to help connect with people in places like Sierra Leone who don’t even have bank accounts because they don’t have birth certificates and other official documents needed to open them. These programs will hire, train and fund real people who live there and are a part of these communities to help them access not only (non centralized) banking for themselves and their communities, but give them job training and pay them base wages of $75USD+/hour and more to do so.
I learnt about decentralized science, and how gated research and data often leads to slow and costly cures for diseases, innovation for climate change, and more. How blockchain technology can allow for us to open up information for people across the globe to work collaboratively, while still giving credit where it's due, to help us solve global and localized issues faster.
These are just some of the things I learnt, and doesn’t even begin to touch on the amazing people I met.
I dive more into some of these initiatives on this week's podcast episode which you can find here.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I’ll be diving deeper and deeper into this space personally, as I believe it’s so much more than ‘crypto and money’ and genuinely feel that if the right people enter this space, it will radically change the world in equal ways, that can create wealth that doesn’t involve human exploitation, and doesn’t rely on governments or corporations.
I was a part of a team (Blu3_DAO - on IG and twitter) that pitched a project that received $1 million in funding that is geared towards this vision of wealth equality, and creating a better future together. With that said, if you’re ever interested in diving into this space more yourself, my inbox is always open.
The world is heavy, but I still believe in it, because people like you, my friend , exist in it. Good people, who believe in community over competition, who want to leave this world a better place than they found it.
You’re doing so much for the world, simply by being here. Thank you!
Until next week,
Lana

I understand the resistance to learning new things. Which is why I want to sprinkle in little bits of here and there, because it adds up over time.
I truly feel this space of crypto/nft/web3 is going to change the world faster (but still over the course of a decade +) than anything else in modern history. We’re still so early in its creation, which is why I want more good hearted, visionary people inside of it.
As entrepreneurs, it’s an easier bridge over into this new territory as we’re already used to learning new things, taking risks, and seeing the potential in things that aren’t fully formed yet.
I wanted to interview someone who has immersed themselves in the crypto/nft/web3 ecosystem, that has a background in traditional product/service based businesses, to come on and share their experience and passion for the space.
Meet Sierra Renee, a serial entrepreneur (runs + created product and service based businesses) who has extended her savviness into the web3 world.
In this week's podcast episode we explore the possibilities of web3 (regardless of your background), some of the areas we’re the most excited about, as well as helpful tips and mindset strategies to get you started.
If you have any questions about this space, please don’t hesitate to reach out. There's a lot of information out there which I know can be overwhelming.
You’ve got this!

We live in a world that is constantly grasping for our time, attention, energy, money and resources. This means that more than ever, we need to know how to support ourselves, regulate our emotions and practice mindfulness in our daily lives.
There are a lot of shoulda, woulda, coulda moments that could have been avoided if we had slowed down, and brought awareness to what we were experiencing, thinking and feeling and how this was impacting our decisions.
I don’t know about you, but I have absolutely bought things that weren’t going to help me because I got caught up in the moment. I’ve lost a whole day, my mood and my energy to doom scrolling and comparing myself to others online.
Being mindful of these situations and how they affect me, allow me to support myself through them, instead of getting swept out to sea by them.
This is why creating a mindfulness practice for yourself and bringing it into how we operate our business can not only have a positive impact on our work, but our lives as well.
We dive into this more this week on the podcast if you’re interested.
Mindfulness can look differently for different people, so taking your time to explore what works for you, can help you create a system that has real impact for you.
If you want any help setting one up (I’m a trained meditation teacher), just hit reply!

I know there are so many ‘secret’ weapons out there when it comes to business, but here me out!
This is one that I believe also deeply serves us in all aspects of our lives - It is the ability to remain open.
We live in a world where it is extremely easy for us to close ourselves off - to getting help, to believing in ourselves, to taking risks, to learning, to believing that things can change, to hearing competing points of view, to respecting someone even when we don’t agree with them, to name a few.
A key in business is remembering that remaining open to things gives us an advantage because most people don’t.
We need to remain open to learning new things, trying new things, believing in something that has yet to manifest itself, believing in ourselves even if we don’t know what we're doing yet.
This week on the podcast I dive deeper into this topic of remaining open and how it has helped me get to this point where I am now… happy, fulfilled, financially successful, operating multiple businesses, doing things I love, having time to actually enjoy my life and still have space to want to learn and do more.
I talk about what remaining open looks like and means for me, and how you can use what speaks to you, to support you in building whatever it is you’re looking to build too.
You’re capable of creating whatever you want, you just need to remain open to it long enough for it to get to you.
You’re doing better than you realize!

I know how much it can suck having to learn a bunch of new things, especially technology, in a world where it feels that just as we’ve grasped one thing, something new comes along.
Please know, that you can ALWAYS opt to not adopt new technology, and that is totally okay. I also know that sometimes it's easier for us to grasp and learn, than we give ourselves credit for.
Maybe you have heard about NFTs and web3 and maybe you haven’t. Either is fine, it’s all so new, think the first minute, of the first period, of the game.
I have been dabbling in this space since last summer and what I can tell you is that I personally am very excited about it’s potential.
I will go into more detail on this week’s podcast episode, and will be continuing to talk about it in future, so if you want to learn more about it, follow along.
What I will say is that what I've read about the space via media outlets VS what I have experienced in the space is very different. NFTs, web3, crypto is a place that is very exciting for creators like us and no it isn’t like collecting beanie babies, and no it isn’t full of elitist people (although they do exist because they exist everywhere).
What I’ve experienced is a really cool way to connect and create communities that are a lot more elevated than how we experience them in traditional membership spaces (facebook groups, paid memberships etc).
If you’re a creator of any kind, I suggest doing a little bit of research (even if it's JUST listening to this episode), as web3 is a place that will give power back to creators (away from SM giants like FB, IG, etc), and allow you to create community and make money in a way that feels good in new and interesting ways.
Remember it's only the first minute in the land of NFTs, so you’re far from too late.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.
As mentioned I’ll be sure to talk about it more on the podcast in future ( don’t worry it won’t be the only thing I talk about). As well, inside The Lighthouse Collective, I’ll be bringing in guests and teaching everyone more about this new space for creators and entrepreneurs.
Keep being awesome my friends!

We are never just one thing in life, and the same is true in the space of entrepreneurship.
We’ve come to understand being non-binary in relation to gender. I feel it can help us better support ourselves and flourish in ways that are far beyond gender identity.
When we view ourselves, our ideas, our lives, our hopes and dreams and these multidimensional, beautiful complex works of art, we realize we aren’t meant to fit into tiny neat little boxes.
We understand that language, information, and guidance isn't meant to put us into ridgid categories that then tell us how to be and what success looks like. Instead it helps us realize the nuance of carving out our own path based on our attributes.
That ultimately we are the captain of our ships and no one can truly tell us where we need to go.
We explore this deeper in this week's podcast.
I also touch on what can happen when people misunderstand what we mean when we say something - since very few things are universally agreed upon. As I had someone express how something I say often kept rubbing them the wrong way.
Entrepreneurship and living a life well lived, it’s about figuring out what makes sense for you and going out and doing just that.
I hope this week's podcast episode makes you feel a bit more confident in doing something that intuitively is for you - even if it's the opposite of what I myself have done. Remember, there is no right or wrong, there is only what is right for you.

First off I hope you had a lovely holiday season and were able to get whatever it is that you look for from that time of the year.
I wanted to start off the new year by tackling the concept of productivity. NOT because I think we need to focus on being ultra productive, but because focusing on the right kind of productivity can actually liberate us, fulfill us AND create more ease in accomplishing our big goals.
How do we do this you ask?
By refraining how we view productivity, tuning into our own intuition more and giving ourselves permission to do more of what feels good and ditching the rest.
We need to detach from this idea that productivity is directly connected to economic output. We aren’t machines, so we can’t evaluate the value of something solely based on what $ number it produces over everything else in our lives.
We are all also very unique. Meaning that what ignites a flame in me, might put out your flame. We need to tap into what excites us, what makes us feel good, what things we feel energize us and feel purposeful. These aren’t universal things either, each of us have our own special zones and we need to know what those zones are.
We dive more into this topic on this week's podcast episode, if you want to learn more.
The goals we set need to align with these things and we need to align how we work with these things as well. When we do, we are able to do more than even we could imagine, while exerting a lot less energy.
Remember you are doing way better than you’re giving yourself credit for AND you deserve to do work that really lights you up.

One of the main things drilled into us throughout our lives is that we need to ‘obtain’ safety + security, through a series of events.
A good stable paying job with benefits, saving for retirement, marriage, a house, kids, and other forms of social and material status. If you ‘achieve’ these you’ve done something right… but have you?
Safety and security truly cannot come from something outside of us (a job, a relationship, money), because by its very nature it's meant to actually prioritize something that isn’t just you.
Learning how to ride the various waves of life, the good, the bad, the inbetween with curiosity, openness and a knowing you’ll be alright no matter what - that is true safety and security.
As we close out 2021 and move into 2022, I wanted this year's last podcast episode to be something that helps us all build a tool for a better future, and that tool is ourselves.
Sometimes we give up the very things that could liberate us in the most beautiful of ways, because we’re afraid to give up some sense of safety + security (S+S). We always need to ask ourselves if what we’re giving up is worth what we’re getting in return.
I don’t know if doing work that feels draining, daunting and unfulfilling for most of my life is worth any amount of S+S, but that's just me and you don’t need to agree.
On this weeks (and the final of 2021) podcast episode we discuss…
I hope you have a lovely holiday season. I am signing off for a few weeks and will be back in the new year.

Want to know one of the main reasons we don’t accomplish the things we desire?
It isn’t because we don’t work hard enough, or have what it takes…..
It’s because we feel that we are our mistakes, our shortcomings, what we lack, and because of that have a hard time tapping into our inherent goodness.
Believe it or not, we are SO MUCH MORE than what we feel holds us back. It doesn't matter how much ‘proof’(aka the bad stuff you constantly run through your head) you have, you are inherently good, capable, deserving and have what it takes to get to where you desire.
As we move into the end of this year and the beginning of a new one, one thing that can help us get to where we want to be is to believe in the goodness that we are, and give less airtime to the bad.
Look, we have all made mistakes. Remember that time I spent over 20k on something that was essentially useless even though I truly thought it was going to take me to the next level. It didn’t, but it did teach me some really important lessons.
The biggest one being that I am more than that decision. That one choice I made, even though it cost me a lot of money, doesn’t mean I have lost my ability to make future decisions like that for myself. If I felt I was that choice, then it would have been so crippling and devastating I wouldn’t be here writing this email. I wouldn’t have gone on to buy, guy and restore a home with my brothers. I wouldn’t have started Astrid Park (an off grid camper motel).
I took it seriously and I learnt from it, but I didn’t let that one thing define me. It became a massive bump on my continuing journey.
If you are finding that you’re being held back because of your fear of failure, imposter syndrome, or anything else that doesn't believe in your ability to succeed, check out this week's podcast episode.
You are doing far better than you’re giving yourself credit for.
You have what it takes to create whatever it is that you want.
I believe in you and you need to believe in yourself too.
You’ve got this,
Lana

Hey!
How do you feel about the concept of being self made?
We often think of it in terms of money and access to wealth and early mentorship, but the narrative around it can be harmful.
In reality no one is self made, not even the people we think are, because we’re all products of those around us. We need mentors, community, people who help us problem solve or do things we’re unable to do. Collaboration is a key ingredient in success.
So my question to you is, do you have enough collaborators, support, mentors and community, or are you trying to do too many things on your own?
As we move out of 2021 and into 2022, what kinds of support might help you make more progress on your goals?
How might your load be lightened with others helping you carry it? Are you holding yourself back in some ways because you’re trying to ‘figure it out’ all on your own?
We dive deeper into this topic on this weeks podcast episode, which you can listen to here.
When I reflect back on when my coaching dreams were just these little flashes, I realize now how much faster I could have brought them to life if I had gotten support.
It wasn’t until I genuinely sought out help, got mentors, built community and surrounded myself with people who could help me bring my dreams into reality, did I actually start seeing real progress.
When we realize no one is self made and instead a by product of all the support they’ve received over the years, it makes it easier for us to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves to figure it all out.
Help lighten your load, and get the support you need in bringing your epic ideas to life.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where your fear of failure has actually prevented you from doing something?
If there is one thing I’ve learnt over the years, it’s that our fear of failure harms our ability to live the life we desire more than anything else. Fear causes us to feel shame, and shame ultimately traps us.
The thing is though, failure doesn’t really exist, not in the ways we think it does at least. If anything it's simply a moment or state of being that we move through. It isn’t a fixed state of reality, even though we act as if it is.
We have all failed many times, at many different things, we just don’t really carry the weight of them because…. well we’ve moved on.
So why then, do we put so much pressure on ourselves ‘to get it right’, to ‘succeed’, to ‘avoid failure’?
It’s a mind trap that we set for ourselves over and over again.
This week on the podcast, I dive into a big ‘failure’ of mine from when I was younger, how it changed the trajectory of my life and more on how the idea of failure is a trap we set for ourselves. You can listen here.
Is there anything you’re wanting to do, but the fear of failure (or lack of perfecting it) keeps you stuck? Hit reply and I’d love to chat more about it.

It is human nature to want to belong, but when does our desire to fit in come at an expense that might be too high for us to pay?
Often fitting in is a lot more about membership - checking off certain criteria that creates exclusivity over genuine belonging.
However we want to take time to understand the difference between the two, because genuinely belonging is what we desire, and membership doesn’t give us that. Yet we often think that membership = belonging and therefore we’re willing to give up parts of ourselves in order to fit in.
Lately we’ve been talking a lot about goals, values, creating lives for ourselves that are actually what we desire and we can’t do those things unless we address what can sometimes get in the way.
Membership is the notion that in order to fit into a certain group dynamic, place or organization, you need to follow certain rules. If you have a family dynamic that loves drama, you’re expected to partake in the cycle of drama, otherwise ‘you don’t fit in’. Maybe you need to be an academic, or have a certain kind of career, or be married with kids, to fit into another group. You might need to have certain political views, or socially conscious views in order to ‘belong’. The idea is that all of these require you to fit into some kind of box, in order to maintain your ‘membership’.
What happens though if you don’t fit? That can often lead us to feeling as though we don’t belong, but that isn’t the case at all.
We all belong, and we need to restructure how we view belonging vs membership in order to make choices and decisions for ourselves that are in alignment with what we desire. Not what others require from us.
We dive more into this topic in this week's podcast episode if this topic resonates. You can listen here.

If I were to ask you what a good life meant to you, how would you answer that question? And after answering it, would you be able to say yes, you are in fact living that life?
If you’re anything like me, these last fews years have really left me contemplating what it means to ‘live a good life’.
I have come to realize that certain ways I’d answer that question aren’t really me, but the conditioned response I’ve been taught to believe were things I wanted for my life. That, that was someone else's response to a good life, but not mine.
There is also this space of needing to acknowledge the things that get in the way of us living our best lives. The desire to belong, the need for financial security and a sense of safety, responsibilities we feel we are tethered to, to name a few.
This week we dive into how to discover what our version of a good life is, explore the things potentially that feel like hurdles in our way and ultimately how to cultivate that life in a way that feels sustainable and possible for us.
Because if we aren’t building out a business that supports a good life for ourselves, then what are we doing and who are we building this business for?
For me I know I am living many aspects of what a good life means to me, that there is still some distance left to go AND that there are some pieces I have yet to discover.
How about you?

Goal setting is such a prevalent concept in our society, yet a lot of us can get it wrong.
Now ‘getting it wrong’ isn’t to imply that you’re not meeting some arbitrary expectation, but to say that sometimes our goals don’t align with our values, intentions or how we actually want to live.
We can use ‘goals’ as our guiding force in life, but sometimes those goals are leading us away from what we actually want.
Taking the time to figure out what your guiding principles for a well lived life are, what your values are and how you actually want your life to feel in the future is the foundation we want to build our goals from.
Not from an insecurity we have to ‘achieve x in order to feel y’.
What are your truest values? What are the things that you feel make up the very fabric used in creating the tapestry of your best lived life? How can you make sure these things guide your goals?
What would your goals and vision for your future be if you didn’t have to worry about money or had all the validation you yearned for? How does your ‘need for x’ impact how you set goals, and is it maybe hindering you?
We explore these questions and more things on this week's podcast episode that you can listen to here.
You owe it to yourself to live your most fulfilled, aligned life and that starts with making sure the goals we are setting, actually set us up for that.
Keep being awesome my friend!

Have you ever found yourself face to face with some kind of resistance or obstacle in your life and immediately blamed yourself for it?
If you’re human I am going to guess the answer is yes, because we’ve all been there. We’ve all faced resistance in our business and lives and instead of compassionately reminding ourselves this is a normal part of the process, we blame ourselves for it.
We will list off our reasons as to why we aren’t good enough and why we were dumb for ever thinking we could do x thing.
However, we aren’t alone in making mistakes or facing resistance so why do we so quickly belittle and blame ourselves when we do?
Part of becoming a person who lives out the life we desire is actually letting go of this idea.
We aren’t alone, you aren’t alone. We all launch things that do not turn out the way we hoped. We all struggle to create content (I re-recorded this week's podcast episode for a record setting 10x before I felt satisfied enough with it). We all feel like an imposter at times.
It’s all a part of the process of becoming. Please be a little gentler with yourself the next time you find yourself in a situation you’d rather not be in.
Maybe, just maybe, this isn’t actually a sign that you’re not cut out for something. Instead, maybe it’s a gentle reminder that you’re human, constantly in flux.
I dive deeper into this topic on this week’s podcast episode if you want to come along for the journey with me. I lovingly mock myself for how I personalized struggling to create this week's episode as if it meant something other than I was just having a hard time creating a piece of content.
Keep being awesome my friend. We all hit bumps in the road, it's what makes life fun.

Have you ever stopped and asked yourself if your hopes, dreams and goals for the future are actually yours?
When we buy a picture frame, it often comes with a stock image holder that's meant to be replaced.
Sometimes I feel the same is true for our lives. We get handed this life and we’re told we can fill it however we want, but that we forget to take that placeholder image out and end up creating goals for ourselves based on the placeholder - not necessarily what we deeply desire.
As an example, as a coach I find when I talk to other coaches, all of our goals and dreams sound the same. We want to build out variations of the same ‘funnel’s and offers’ and do variations of the same things - even though we are vastly different people.
It got me thinking that sometimes what we think we want is just really heavily influenced by what others we admire are doing, and then assuming we need to do the same.
But we don’t.
We get to be our own people, who do our own wild and beautiful things, we just need to slow down, lean in and listen to ourselves more. We need to be willing to think outside the box, leave what isn’t working behind and move towards what feels right for us.
A lot of us base what we work so hard for, around what we think we’re supposed to want, do, become and have. We need to learn to let go of those things, and reunite with what is meant for us - and only we can figure out and know what that is.
That is what we are diving into on this week's podcast episode. Check it out here if you want to listen. I also go into some ideas on how to create the things we desire (financial freedom, security, meaning, purpose) without having to follow someone else's path or idea of success.
Remember that this beautiful life is yours and you get to decide how you live it. That includes what you create, how you run your business and what you do to generate income for yourself.
I believe in you!

Hey!
The term lazy is definitely something that haunts a lot of us, especially entrepreneurs. There can be alot of shame, self judgement and frustration that washes over us when we think we’re being ‘lazy’.
However, we need rest and I’ll be the first to admit - I love being ‘lazy. Maybe it’s because I’m a taurus and we are notorious for wanting to chill, or maybe it’s because I know we’re not machines and therefore are very deserving (without having to earn it) of rest.
But today’s email and this week's podcast episode (listen here) is actually about a different kind of laziness, or rather two different kinds.
One is the kind that is rooted in us forgetting our brilliance, and becoming disheartened and therefore disconnected.
The other is becoming busy, being busy and therefore don’t have time for matters most.
I feel these actually impact our ability to live our fullest lives and create the magic we want to see in them. Not because we don’t work hard enough, but rather because we work way too hard doing things that don’t matter, become disheartened and give up on ourselves because we forget how brilliant and capable we truly are.
To summarize that, we can get so lost in the hustle, we actually go nowhere (hamster on a hamster wheel) and start to question ourselves, our worth and our capabilities in the process.
That is a form of laziness, because it becomes easy to be distracted, detached and give up (and we all find ourselves here from time to time, so no shame).
The opposite of this would be working to wake ourselves up. Reminding ourselves, even when it's hard, that we have the ability to create the business and life we desire. We need to focus less on what others are doing, and focus more on what makes sense for us.
If you want to dive deeper into this, check out this week’s podcast episode.
And regardless please remember, you’re made from the remnant of stars, and you’re doing way better than you’re giving yourself credit for.

If you are anything like me, everytime a new social media platform or ‘must do to grow you business’ feature comes out, you might find yourself doing a familiar dance of ‘do I, don’t I’.
It’s easy to fall down the rabbit hole of keeping up with the Joneses when it comes to social media trends, platforms, and the do and don’ts that are always changing.
What we need to learn is how to master the art of letting go. Letting go of the feeling that we need to pivot and change every time a platform tells us too.
The reality is that social media is designed to keep us on its platform and they will do whatever necessary to keep us there.
That though, isn’t your goal is it?
Your objective is most likely to connect with your audience, provide them with something related to what you offer and at some point have some of your audience buy your product or service.
Social media is a tool that we use, but it isn’t the only tool we have available to us. We all need to remember this when interacting with it.
On this week's episode we (me and my pal George Kao - a soulful dude, coach and marketer) dive into why it's okay to let go of the idea that you need to keep up with all the trends, and do all the optimizing and what to focus on instead.
There are so many moving pieces when running a business, do yourself a solid, and make it a little easier for yourself by giving yourself permission to not have to do all the things.
Oh and before I sign off I wanted to mention I am hosting my first in person event in a lonnnnnng time. It’ll be hosted at The Yoga Attic on October 15th, where we will explore this theme of dismantling the barriers we’ve created within and around ourselves.
We will look at how what we are striving for in our businesses and life (more clients, a strong vision, more freedom, more fulfillment, more stability and wealth etc), can come to us as much as we move to it.
You can learn more about it here, and always feel free to hit reply if you have any questions about it.
As always, you’re doing better than you think! I believe in you.

We’ve all been there... that eternal battle of what you desire and your limiting beliefs going head to head.
One of the most frustrating things about being human is genuinely how we can struggle to get over what feels like our own self imposed hurdles and roadblocks.
Please know though, that we all have them - nothing is wrong with you.
One concept that has really helped me over the years is that whenever I find myself spiraling in a pool of my own insecurities, doubt, and fear I change up how I am approaching the situation with myself.
I believe our energy flows where our focus goes. If I am spending my time, energy and attention on questioning if something is possible, or if I have what it takes, I am going to be met with lots of hesitation, fear, doubt and stories that reinforce that idea. Instead I ask myself how, how am I going to do this, how does something like this get done.
It might seem small, but asking how instead of if, completely changes how you approach a situation. You spend more time and energy finding solutions and taking action than you do spinning your wheels.
This is just one of the things that I did at the start of my entrepreneurial journey and is something I still do today.
On this week's podcast episode we dive more into how I support myself through the waves of doubt, fear, anxiety and all those pesky limiting beliefs, while talking about how when I first started my business I was NOT getting the traction or results I wanted.
I believe in you, you’re doing better than you’re giving yourself credit for AND you do have what it takes.

Have you been feeling this pull (or maybe a push) to change things up?
Whether that be starting a new routine, creating a new offer, shifting how you do things in your business or even starting something new altogether, fall often brings a feeling of wanting something fresh.
What we need to learn is to listen to that pull, as it is our intuition guiding us in the direction we need to be moving in.
Even if some of this change might mean starting something new or starting over, we need to remember that we’re never really starting over. Every time we begin a new project, business, routine, offer or even way of living, we are building upon what we’ve already experienced, learned and who we’ve become in the process.
Change can be scary, but it’s necessary for growth and innovation.
On this week's podcast episode we dive more into this concept and talk about different ways to approach and look at where this desire for change is coming from, how you can go about it in a way that feels good and why we’re more equipped to tackle our next challenge than we realize.
I believe in you and keep kicking butt my friend.

Have you been feeling a little ‘meh’ lately?
If you have been, you’re not alone. Lots of people I have been chatting with have been feeling the same.
While there are many different factors that play into our energy and engagement levels, a few I wanted to highlight today are comparable to relationship advice we routinely hear.
You’re going to have a honeymoon stage in your business and at some point, like every relationship, the mundane will start to kick in. Now this doesn’t mean the fun is over, it simply means you have to intentionally infuse more spark into your work.
That’s often why people try out new projects or offers, they are looking to keep the excitement alive in their business.
And as with relationships, we all change. If you and your business are able to change and adapt together, it’ll work out. As you grow and learn and connect with yourself more, you’re bound to go through some growing pains transition wise with your work.
On this week's podcast episode we dive more into this concept and talk about different ways to approach and look at this lack of motivation and spark with your business.
If you’re feeling this funk, don’t panic. It’s normal and it just means you need to do some digging into what needs to shift or change, and look at how you can bring back the joy and spark into your work!
I believe in you and keep kicking butt my friend.

Throughout the course of our lives we change many times. As life ebbs and flows, so do we.
One thing I know to be true is that sometimes creating that change we desire can be hard. Not because we aren’t capable, but because integrating new ways of being and living can come with its handful of challenges.
The key to integrating lessons, insights, and desired ways of being in a sustainable way into our lives all comes down to creating the right containers, and routines to let them become a part of how we live. It isn’t about this big drastic change, which can be hard to sustain. It’s about finding a way to weave what we desire into what we already do and have.
How to weave these new things into our lives is what we explore in this week's episode…
Keep flowing with all that is unfolding before you and now that changes you desire will come.
I believe in you!

Have you ever had that moment where you realize you need to let something or someone who's been a pillar of your life, go?
There will always come moments in life when we need to let some part of ourselves that is connected to something else go, in order to make space for what's next.
It is scary, but also full of so much opportunity.
Nothing, or no one makes up the sum total of who we are, the value we bring into this world and what makes us who we are. That is what we need to remember when we are faced with needing to let something or someone go.
What happens when you let go og the thing you’re the most afraid of losing?
We let go of the identity ascribed to it. We let go of all the ways we’ve tried to make ourselves ‘fit’ in order to maintain it.
We open ourselves up to finding a way to love and accept ourselves fully, instead of using this thing or person to make us feel whole and valuable.
There is so much strength in letting go and that is what we explore on this week's episode…
Remember that you are inherently valuable, simply because you exist. Nothing and no one can take that away from you.
I believe in you!

A phrase we hear often in the spiritual and entrepreneurial world, is to do ‘what is in alignment with you’. I am all for living and running an aligned business and life AND I am aware that those things will never look the exact same for two people.
We are similar and yet so vastly different, of course my goals and how I achieve them and your goals, and how you achieve them are most likely going to be different. That is exactly how it should be. We aren’t created in the same way, we don’t have the same hopes and desires, skills, experiences, lived realities or knowledge, therefore ‘my aligned’ and ‘your aligned’ are going to be different.
Some of us get hung up on the fact that what we want for our lives looks different than those around us, because that can make us feel as though something is wrong with who we are or what we want. There is nothing wrong with you.
In this week's episode we dive into…
To live our happiest and most fulfilled lives, we need to learn to tune into ourselves. Figure out what we want outside of expectations and obligations and be okay with living our lives according to what makes sense for who we are and what we want.
I believe in you and whatever you desire for yourself.

A lot of people are starting to reintegrate back into the world, which means that we’re starting to feel the strain of obligation creep up on us again.
Something that I have observed is that a lot of people are realizing that they feel out of alignment with some of those obligations and expectations to go back to.
There might be resistance in how you go about conducting business, spending time with particular people, dressing a certain way, or having to do certain activities. No matter what it is, there might be something that feels off.
One of the reasons for that might be because you had so much space from those situations, people, or ways of doing things that you’ve even had time to realize they don’t jive with you. Sometimes we do things not because we enthusiastically choose it for ourselves, but because we feel it's ‘just what we have to do’.
I would even say that a lot of things we do as humans are performative. Meaning, we play the role we think we need to play to fit the scenario, even though that role isn’t actually who we are.
It's important for all of us to check in through this period of reintegration and make sure we’re doing things we want, spending time with people we enjoy and most importantly, honouring who we are and how we want to show up in the world.
In this week's episode we dive into…
Be you my friend, because the world needs all that you are.
I believe in you!

I would say that one of the things the vast majority of people try to avoid in their lives is conflict.
It sucks, it takes up a lot of energy, it causes us anxiety and all around isn’t fun.
However, conflict really is an unavoidable reality of life, and entrepresigp. You can be the kindest, calmest, most on top of everything person with the greatest of intentions and someone at some point will still have an issue with something you said, something you did (or didn’t do), or how you approached something.
Conflict doesn’t always occur because someone did something ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’. Conflict happens because we all have different experiences, expectations, ways of doing things, different values/rules we live by, ways of communicating, ways of interacting with others, we have different lens and ultimately this creates a lot of opportunities for mishaps.
On this week's episode we dive deeper into this topic.
On the episode, we discuss:
Conflict is normal, so please try not to panic too much if you’re finding yourself in a situation that has it.
Breathe, extend compassion to yourself, check in about what is happening and figure out how you’d like to respond.

Have you ever wanted people closest to you, whether that be your friends, family, or partner, to support you more when it comes to your business?
One question I get asked often is how to get people around you on board with your entrepreneurial goals and one thing I have realized is that sometimes it might take a bit of time to do that.
This isn’t because these people don’t care about us, or don’t want to see us succeed, it really just comes down to the fact that they don’t understand it. For many entrepreneurs, the only people who really get it are other entrepreneurs.
Our society doesn’t necessarily encourage people to become entrepreneurs, it encourages us to become employable - but not to become the employer. For our friends and family, we might very well be the only entrepreneur they know. Which is why they might not support us in the ways we desire - they simply haven’t learnt how yet.

Are you struggling to figure out what offer to launch?
Or what business to start? What career to build? What opportunity to pursue?
I hear this so often from many of my clients. They want to express themselves in so many ways, that in our one-dimensional definition of success, they start questioning their ambition for more than one passion.
We are constantly evolving beings. From the books we read, to the people we spend time with, and even how we take our coffee can change over time! We allow our tastes to change in certain areas of our lives, yet restrain them in other areas - often in our careers.
We expect perfection from ourselves and a straight line to success.
But when you’re a multi-faceted human, your success metrics are always evolving.
What if the industrialized rinse-and-repeat cycle is not the best success metric to aim for?
What if we set aside the old school masculine business methods that teach us to condense ourselves into a machine over a human?
I want to invite you to look at yourself as an artist and someone who has their own style, approach to life, and way of living and being.
As an artist, your multi-passionate self is a valuable trait. Why not take on a lens for your life and business that supports who you are rather than pushes down who you are?

Last week we talked about how transformation can feel like failure. Especially when we’re in the middle of a big project, everything is looking more messy in the middle and overwhelming us.
This week, I want to go even deeper in this. What happens when you find yourself in this “slump”? Think of this week’s episode as my pep talk to help you climb out of it.
When I’m in a slump, the support I always reach for is shifting my perspective, grace and compassion, and getting support.
There is so much in business that goes on behind the tactics and strategies. So often, the biggest hurdle is our own belief that we have what it takes to come out the other side.

I’ve been having so many conversations with my clients and within The Lighthouse Collective when it comes to transformation. Many of us are finding ourselves in this energetic space of change and kind of knowing where we’re going without actually knowing where we’re going.
If you’re in this space, and even if you’re not, I recorded this week’s podcast episode with you in mind.
It reminded me of all the caterpillars we’re currently seeing here in Ottawa. What I recently learned about caterpillars is that they actually turn to mush in their transition. To unbecome a caterpillar and become a butterfly, they must disintegrate into mush for a period of time.
Are you in the mush phase? That middle phase where you’re no longer who you used to be and not yet your future version. Or your business is no longer what it used to be but not yet its potential.
Remember that when it starts to feel like there’s no progress happening in this phase, it’s because you’re in the mush phase of your evolution. Transformational change is happening, it’s just harder to see the progress in this phase.
Keep going though, you’re doing better than you realize, you’re making more progress than you’re aware of and the change you desire is just around the corner.

Subject: Having a Hard Time Making Money? Is This Social Construct Holding You Back?
Do you feel shame around wanting to be wealthy?
Commerce and capitalism are not one in the same. Capitalism is a newer economic model in relation to how long humans have had goods and services to trade for. Commerce exists outside of capitalism and in many ways can actually be apart of what dismantles it.
I share this because many of us have deep social constructs running through our minds when it comes to wealth and capitalism. This shows up in how we speak to potential clients and our audiences. We project our feelings when it comes to making money, capitalism and wanting to be a good person. We can (or others can) confuse the idea that wanting to be wealthy AND wanting to be ethical and support our communities are mutually exclusive ideas. That it has to be one OR the other. But that isn’t the case.
Making money (or a thing you can barter+trade with) existed before capitalism and it will exist after capitalism. This is a huge distinction to understand, because our support and encouragement of making money doesn’t need to be tied into the negative narratives of capitalism, because while they are linked, they are not the same. You can make money, build wealth AND dismantle capitalism at the same time.
Positive change occurs when people find ways to beat the system - whether that’s capitalism, patriarchy, or any other repressive construct.
What I want you to take away today is that you can live and win (aka be happy, healthy and supportive of others) in a capitalist world without playing by its rules. You don’t need to exploit others or believe in competition or choose profit over everything else.

Entrepreneurship signifies the possibility of what could be. We might not know exactly what something will look like, but we still have this feeling of what it could be and we follow that feeling.
However, there’s also an aspect of entrepreneurship where sometimes we’re trying to prove something. We create it into this magic pill to cure a job we don’t like, a salary we’re not happy with, work we’re not fulfilled with.
Our energy is the most important compass for our business. In anything we do, we can look at the root energy force that is fueling our actions.
The power of perspective is that if we’re approaching something and not getting the results we want, then we can shift our perspective and approach it from a different direction. This shows up often in social media and feeling like the algorithm is against us and no one is engaging with us. The answer is not to grind harder. The answer might be to ask yourself: how can I approach social media from a different angle? What can I change if this isn’t working? If I don’t even like what I am doing AND I am not getting the results I want either, maybe I can try something fun or more enjoyable?
Simply approaching ourselves+business, where we get stuck, and the problems we might face from a space of curiosity instead of critique can help us move forward with more ease.

So many of us get caught up trying to keep up that we fail to realize how we might be doing ourselves more harm than good - both emotionally, physically, and in our businesses.
Today I want to talk about my favourite topic: ditching the should’s and doing what feels like fun.
Consistency is one of the most important muscles in your business, but consistency doesn’t come from sheer motivation and grinding it out. It comes from being passionate and intrinsically motivated to show up and do the thing.
This is why there’s no cookie cutter playbook for the right strategy and schedule - because it all depends on what energizes you, what feels like fun for you, and what makes you come alive.
What are those for you? What tasks energize you?
Consider how you show up on social media. We can feel socially pressured to show up in a certain way online, or in a specific way, or on an intense schedule. How can you show in a way that’s more aligned with who you are instead of how you think you “should” show up?

We go through different periods of life and our business where we feel overwhelmed. It can be easy to actually add onto that overwhelm simply from our own expectations and how we expect ourselves to show up.
As entrepreneurs, we inherently have the intrinsic motivation to push ourselves to build our business and life in a way we desire. But every strength has an opposite trait - in this case, a tendency to push ourselves past what is necessary, or even healthy.
When we are feeling overwhelmed, our inner motivation can take on a new energy and become a little too pushy.
I’m in a period of my life where I’m launching a new business while also continuing to grow my core business, which is business coaching. Going through this experience and learning to balance my own energy in a way that keeps me from burnout is actually what helps me relate to my clients and help them push through a busier time of their business with grace and compassion.

This week I want to share a beautiful conversation I had with Errin Weisman about a topic that many of us can relate to and have probably experienced to a certain degree in our business or careers.
It’s the idea of sacrificing everything in our life to pursue a “good profession” and then once we’ve made it realizing that we actually feel empty and have lost so many years just blindly husting without stopping to appreciate what’s in front of us. It’s waiting for the delayed gratification to come and realizing that it’s not going to come.
Errin Weisman is a family physician turned life coach who is all about calling out the bullshit on the hustle culture. She did what many professionals might be afraid to do: moving out of a career that we’re told by society is “good” and that we’ve “made it” - and instead pursuing a career like coaching where there is so much judgement and negativity that it’s not a “real job”.

We can’t let what we “should” do get in the way of what we “can” do.
We’ve all added many “should’s” to our to-do list. Whether that’s social plans, a strategy that our friends or peers are following, and even limiting beliefs that we hold.
Ironically, I recorded this week’s episode almost a week later than I usually do. So many opportunities unlocked this past week - from launching the next cohort of The Lighthouse Collective, as well as my new passion project, AND still working through the final renovations of my rental property.
So when it came to recording this episode, I’ve been pushing it off because I can’t find a long enough pocket of time to record the length of episode that I always do. I filled my head with so many “should’s’ - I should record soon, I should make it a long episode, etc.
And then I looked at today’s topic and I laughed.
I sat myself down and reminded myself that I can be okay with a shorter episode this week and the episode will be just as valuable as it is meant to be… and immediately I felt the stress leave. Instead of stressing over how short the episode will be, I chose to embrace how I can record the episode right now exactly where I am.
This is a reminder to me and to you - drop your “should’s”, drop your expectations, and watch the pressure drop on its own.

At the age of 22, Mallory co-founded what quickly became a
multi-six figure, globally recognized powerlifting apparel
brand. After experiencing a major burnout, she knew there
was a better way to build businesses.
By the age of 27, she'd built three multi-six figure businesses.
Today, she helps entrepreneurs build without burning out.
Entrepreneurship is an energy - it’s a specific way of thinking and being.
For this reason, I want to plant the seed here today that this entrepreneurial energy is what allows us to build a business in our own unique way and on our own unique terms.
I fundamentally believe that we will be more fulfilled without a cookie cutter strategy - because this energy of freedom and experimentation should not be contained in the same rigid box as a corporate job is.
How your business looks today isn’t necessarily how it will always look, nor should you want it to. You have the freedom to build and grow your business in a way that aligns with your own personal growth and ambitions.
When you’re willing to take responsibility for your life and future, you will be more willing to take on the difficulties that come with entrepreneurship.
When you’re growing and scaling your business, also look at how you can grow and scale your life. It’s a balance of how much money will give you more free time to do the things your heart craves.
Remember, it’s not only about financial wealth, we also have to invest in our emotional wealth.

Community is, without doubt, the number one asset in our lives and business (other than ourselves - and we are a part of the community).
The type of community that we surround ourselves with is a reflection of who we are. It helps us generate and test out our ideas, build our network, create opportunities for ourselves and others, collaborate with people to create new things and more.
The more encouragement, space, and support we have around us, the more we are able to flourish.
I strongly believe that community is my own, and should be everyones, #1 business and personal growth strategy.
In this time of mass isolation, the trap we can find ourselves in is perpetuating our feelings of isolation by trying to do everything ourselves, to not reach out for support, to think we have to do life alone. Even my own energy is very determined and resilient, but that can lead me to think I can do everything on my own by sheer will. I convince myself that I can do everything alone - even though I can’t.
But not everything in life is meant to be done alone.
If you’re currently in a place of feeling “stuck”, this might be a clue that you’re trying to figure it out on your own. How can you look for support?
Pretending that our success comes solely from our own effort often comes from our ego. Our desire to prove that we did everything ourselves. You’ve heard me talk about the concept of being self-made before, and how I believe none of us are self made. We are an accumulation of all the interactions we’ve had throughout our lives - good, bad or neutral.
We are who we are based on the people around us and we have to take responsibility over finding and nurturing who those people are.
One of the most valuable questions I have asked myself, that has significantly helped me create the business I have is… “how can I find the people, who become my people”.... Whether that be friends, mentors, collaborators, clients, or any combination of those, a strong network and community is integral to not only our mental health, but the success of our business as well.

Feeling uninspired is actually a normal ebb we all go through.
We aren’t machines.
Even those of us who are typically optimistic and positive can find ourselves in a funk and a low vibrational energy that makes us restless and uninspired.
It’s important to notice how we label these emotions, which is often “bad”. We think being in a funk is bad, being unmotivated is bad, and being overwhelmed is bad. But because we are cyclical beings who experience the full range of emotions, we will continue to have light and heavy emotions. The personal development industry pushes us to fix anything that is “bad”, and so we internalize this need to “fix” ourselves anytime we feel a “bad” emotion.
I’m here to remind us, myself included, that we can simultaneously want to change and evolve and grow, while also recognizing that we’re whole and amazing just as we are.
Sometimes there’s nothing to fix. Sometimes we just need to sit in the emotion and gently move ourselves through it.

When we shoot for the stars, it’s important that we acknowledge the powerful magnetic force of gravity. When things fall to the ground, it’s all part of nature - not a sign we don’t have what it takes to try again.
When things metaphorically fall in our business, we should take the same perspective. Failure and quitting and making mistakes - it’s all part of the journey.
In the context of sports, taking shots and missing them is encouraged because it means the chances of scoring become higher. Growth and “failure” are embedded in the process. Teams lose games, and seasons all the time. In fact only 1 team every year actually ‘wins’ the championship. In sport you recognize that in order to win, you have to be prepared to lose, grow, learn, and lose some more. No team ever has a perfect season and no matter how amazing a team is, there are always going to be seasons where winning a championship isn’t in the cards that year.
I want us to take the same approach in life and business. We can become so hyper focused on whatever just occurred. We forget the longevity of our careers and the importance of having patience throughout each season of winning and growing.

We aren't here to build empires that require us to sell our souls. We're here to make a massive impact and income, while also creating more time and energy for ourselves.
My goal is to help you set up your business in a way that you are doing things you love and that includes how you find your clients. There’s a big difference between asking where and how to find ANY client versus where and how to find you ideal clients.
There’s also a second layer, which is how do we nurture those leads after we’ve found them?
If you want to dive into this topic, I invite you to download my free guide 15 Ways to Find New Clients AND Attract Consistent Leads. I cover the 15 ways I personally use to find new clients, and then the 9 steps I take to nurture my leads.
I give some insight into where and how I’ve found clients over the years, including how social media might not play as much of a role in finding new leads as you may think.

How do you show up for your dreams even when it feels like you’re stuck in a shit storm?
Entrepreneurship feels like an uphill battle, even on the best of days. It requires persistence and pushing through the resistance we are feeling. But we want to look at persistence from the wholeness of our lives, not just from the single slice of our life, which is our business.
Persistence can become harmful when we’re just focused on one single area of our life and when we think there is only one way to get to our goals - and so we push ourselves into burnout and overwhelm.
Persistence should be tied to the wholeness of our full life, not just to the singular area of our business pursuits. We all feel stuck at different parts of our entrepreneurship journey - it’s not a sign that we are doing anything wrong, it just means we are in a temporary transition phase. We might have to show up differently at this time or take on a side job or reaching out for help.
This is not the time to panic and spiral in thoughts of shame or disappointment. It also doesn’t mean giving up the rest of your life to persist through the quicksand you are currently feeling in your singular business mission.

What happens when we confuse validation for love?
Is that opportunity really worth accepting?
Is that relationship really worth fighting for?
Is that friendship really worth the effort?
I ask these questions because it’s important to reflect on WHO is the person we become in the pursuit of approval and validation. Are we giving up parts of ourselves in this pursuit? Can we even recognize the person we’re becoming?
Nothing is worth abandoning ourselves for. We just need to be brave enough to know that we can pave a path that allows us to be who we yearn to be, while making room for who we already are.
I recently shared a poem I wrote on Instagram (shared below), inspired by a conversation that we had in my online community, The Lighthouse Collective, about how easy it is to confuse validation for love, Or the number of followers we have with the impact we’re creating in the world.
At the beginning of my business, I was making many concessions in who I truly am. It’s the moment I embraced my full self that I became empowered to show up even more as myself.
If you want to hear more on this topic, check out this week’s podcast episode.
On the episode, I cover:
Here is the poem I wrote and shared if you’re interested.
when I confuse validation
for love
who do I become
in the pursuit of it?
how do I bend + contort
shapeshift + hide
betray myself
to stay inside their zone of comfort
how do I give up approval
for self-actualization
how do I reclaim myself
the parts left behind
how do I appreciate
the complexities that make up who I am
maybe it's realizing the cost
of validation + approval
are too expensive
when it comes at my expense
maybe its realizing
love will never require me
to leave myself behind
especially when I realize
how profound
being me truly is
how I lose out
how the world loses out
how love loses out
when I believe anything less
I believe in you.
And remember the world truly does lose out, when you believe you are anything less than profound.

Selling and sales is quite literally the last step before we not only get paid and make a profit, but also before we get to do the thing we actually enjoy - the service we offer!
It’s also the step that people struggle with the most.
Not having a sales process that you feel confident in…
Not charging what your service is actually worth…
Not working through your money beliefs…
Not being able to handle people's concerns and hesitations...
Without mastering selling, you will not only struggle to make money in your business, but you will constantly be doubting yourself and your abilities.
Selling with ease has nothing to do with how good you are at rendering your service.
Selling with ease has everything to do with how good you are at articulating the TRUE value of your work.
In selling, we often bring ourselves into the conversation, along with all of our insecurities. We make sales conversations about us (over explaining ourselves out of fear, justifying our prices, etc), when it should be about the client.
For this reason, we often think a higher priced sale will be much harder, and so we choose a lower priced offer because we are afraid of having to sell. Many of my clients prior to working together, will underprice their product or service because they think it will make the sales conversation easier.
One of the easiest sales I made was $25,000 and the hardest sale I ever made was for an $8 donation for Doctors Without Borders. When I made the $8 sale, I spent two hours working with the person and navigating their concerns and questions. Whereas the $25,000 client was eager to hand over their money because they had a $25,000 problem to solve and needed my help.
We often pick our prices and what we’re going to offer people based on what we feel is ‘realistic’ for us. When we do this, we’re actually bringing in limiting beliefs and having those dictate our business decisions.
Are you picking an audience to sell to based on your own money insecurities and stories?
Are you undervaluing yourself simply because you feel that you don’t have what it takes to break into a higher priced service offering?
If you think you would benefit from redefining and changing the way you sell in your business so that you show up and sell your services with ease and confidence, I invite you to join me at the workshop I’ll be running on Wednesday, March 24th on Selling $1,000+ Services With Ease and Confidence.
You’ll learn how to sell high end services that are $1,000, $10,000, $20,000 and more, in a way that feels good for you, and makes it easy for your clients to say yes to.

This week is all about how to tap into your creativity more so we can express ourselves in new ways.
You don’t have to find ways to grow your business through your creativity, but if you are a business owner and you do want to use it as part of your business, then this is for you.
Creativity and entrepreneurship are deeply connected. Everything that exists was once just a dream. When I work with clients on new marketing strategies, it’s often in their creativity that the best strategy lies. Having confidence in our creativity allows us to steer away from following cookie cutter marketing formulas and to embrace our own unique way of connecting with our audience.
I recently picked up writing poetry again, something that I was doing just for myself. Part of my resistance and for many others is that we don’t feel qualified to be creative because we’re not “good at it”. It’s giving ourselves permission to create without needing to be ‘good’. We forget that creativity, like anything else, requires practices to see growth and improvement (AND there is also no need to grow or improve on something that's for fun). When I decided to write poetry for my own nourishment, I became more comfortable with it, and eventually felt empowered to share it.
Good is relative, and the goal isn’t to be good when we are being creative. There’s so much vulnerability that stops us from sharing with others and even simply getting started.
What is something that you love doing? Dancing and movement? Telling jokes? Painting?
Business doesn’t have to be all ‘professional’ and look a certain way. There is so much room in business and entrepreneurship to weave your creativity into it. When you bring more of yourself into your business, you not only feel more energized, but your clients and audience benefit from getting more of you, too, and more value.

Marketing and sales can be a struggle for many of us.
You probably didn’t get into business because you love doing them, but because of the service you offer or product you sell. Because of this, we often resist marketing as a part of our business.
It is okay to not be great at marketing and sales.
What’s not okay is ignoring it and avoiding getting help.
You need to learn marketing and sales.
In order to create a successful business, you need to find a way to reach your intended audience, and how to build enough like, know and trust with them that they will want to purchase from you.
Which is why I want to share three marketing mistakes and some solutions that will help you understand marketing and sales.
The first mistake is only posting educational content and what might be missing.
The second mistake is prioritizing consistency over quality and managing your creation energy levels.
The third mistake is thinking it’ll be easier to sell something that is $100 vs $1,000 and how to sell with more confidence and ease.

Life can be a lot sometimes.
Business can be a lot sometimes.
It’s important for us to acknowledge that we are constantly living in cycles.
It doesn’t matter how much money you have or how many ideal clients you have, we are not invincible from the ebbs and flows of entrepreneurship.
When we find ourselves in a cycle of overwhelm, it’s important to remember that we all go through this at one point or another. It’s not a reflection that we’re doing something wrong. We are never broken or doing something wrong in life or in business, we are simply in a cycle of our life where we need to support ourselves a little more.
Instead of shaming ourselves for being in this cycle of overwhelm, we should accept that it’s happening and then give ourselves the compassion and support to move through it.
Today, I wanted to share three things that you can do when you find yourself in this cycle of overwhelm, anxiety, and intense feelings of panic.
Observe what you are feeling.
Expand your perspective.
Get to work (while being compassionate with yourself).

It’s easy to get distracted with all the marketing trends we see our peers jumping on, but you always want to make sure that your marketing strategy takes into consideration the back bone of your business. By the way, this can shift as your business model evolves.
The more time or money it takes for someone to invest in your service, or the more emotional resistance it takes to invest in your service. The more resistance there is around something working with you or buying your product, the more your marketing has to change.
The marketing strategy of someone selling lower priced products versus someone selling a higher end service is going to look very different. If your income is based on the size of your audience, then quantity is part of your strategy. Whereas if you sell a higher end product or service, that means there’s more resistance, then quantity is less important and quality becomes more important.
It is important for you to understand WHO is your ideal client, what are their habits and tendencies? Who are they beyond the checklist items that are obvious? Price and value is all relative. The same house in the city versus the country is going to cost a very different amount.
Because this is more of a complicated conversation, I created a worksheet for today’s episode and what kind of strategy you should be using to attract them easier.
Take the pressure off yourself from needing to know every single marketing strategy. You just need to know what is important for your business and to be open to learning if you feel called to it, but you do not need to feel shamed for not doing what others online are doing.

We’ve all heard people talk about getting more done in less time, but is that actually possible?
I would say that it is, however, what that means for me is most likely very different from what that means for you.
It all comes down to learning to manage our energy and that will look different for each of us.
For this week’s podcast episode, I decided to release a private training I ran for my membership community, The Lighthouse Collective.
In this training, we covered energy and intuition and the idea that we’re much more in-tune with our intuition than we realize, we just don’t always know that’s what’s guiding us. When we’re better able to understand how this works for us individually, we are able to actually get more done, in less time - and in a way that feels good.
The more that we can reflect on how it feels when we’re following our intuitive knowing versus our ego, the easier it is for us to make empowered decisions for ourselves.
I also want to share some reflection questions that can help get you aligned with your true values and desires as you listen to the episode:
Remember, there is no right or wrong, only what is right for you.
If you found this training valuable and are curious to learn more about The Lighthouse Collective, just hit reply! We’re opening the doors again until next week and I would love to have you join. One of my favourite things about TLC is that there are intangible aspects to it - it’s not a cookie-cutter program that I’m taking you through. It’s a community of socially and spiritually conscious entrepreneurs and creatives who are looking for connection and to do their life’s greatest work. It’s hard to describe this energy in words, so I hope this training gave you the feeling of what TLC is all about.

With my coaching clients, I get to see varying levels of people in terms of how they feel about money and how they feel about their relationship with money.
Depending on your own relationship with money, it will manifest in different ways in how you approach making money, attracting your dreams clients, and growing your business.
Today, I want to cover two sides of the money “making” discussion.
Making money versus creating money.
It’s subtle, but there’s a difference between creating and making money.
When we talk about “creating” money, we are thinking about it in terms of actually cultivating it - nurturing a process that we know will require time and energy investments from us. We know we can’t snap our fingers and create a million dollars because we understand our part in the process and how it will require us to show up.
When talking about “making” money, we are also sometimes assigning value to it - our value. It feels more like snapping our fingers and we say things like, “I just want to make a million dollars”. It can feel disempowering if you don’t actually know how to make it or have it.
Creating money feels like you are in control of it, while the idea of making money can be connected to your worth and what you deserve. This is why how we think of money is so varied depending on our own money mindsets and relationship with money.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think - AND your value and worth as a human being is NEVER tied to your bank account.
The world is lucky to have you in it.
I believe in you.

Whether you’re working at a full-time job, debating your life purpose, you’ve just started a business, or you’ve been at it for many years, an existential crisis can, and will, hit us many times throughout our working lives.
I have many of these existential thoughts and maybe you have them too. Something along the lines of “who the hell am I and what am I doing?!”.
When we think we’re aligned in our business and these thoughts still come up, we can start to second guess ourselves even more. Are we not on the right path? Have we not done the work on ourselves?
It’s important to remember that even when we are fully in alignment with our business, we can still have these moments of an existential crisis. We are always growing and evolving, which means we’re always on the cusp of a new level. It doesn’t mean we’re out of alignment, it simply means we need a small adjustment.
Add to all of this the current global climate that we have all been living through for a year now.
When we feel like we’re in a crisis, we tend to grab on tighter to everything in our life and it’s important to notice that we’re holding on to the things that nourish us and energize us. Often, we overlook that we are actually grabbing on to what’s closest to us, and sometimes that’s a business or strategy that we have outgrown and would be better off letting go of.
I have been in this place over the past few weeks, experiencing waves of existential thoughts. It has been a heavy time globally, it’s the middle of winter here in Canada, and I’m missing in-person events (where I usually get filled up energetically) and seeing my friends. What this has reminded me is to focus more on what I can control, like waking up early, doing card readings, listening to a meditation, reading poetry, and turning off mindless scrolling online.
We can’t avoid the human thoughts that wash over us, but we can listen to the alarm bells that are reminding us to get back to what nourishes us.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think.
I believe in you.

With everything that I share, I always want to remind you there is never an absolute right or wrong way to do something.
When we are listening to those around us, it’s important to root down and ground ourselves in our own power. When we are not grounded in our power, we are easily swayed by those we admire and blindly take their advice and strategies that perhaps is not the best one for us.
When that strategy doesn’t work for you, it reinforces the idea that you don’t have what it takes to accomplish your dreams.
All business strategies are relative. You will always be your best guide and mentor. Remember this when you are listening to advice from those around you. If your inner guidance is telling you a different story than even I am sharing, always remember that you know best for yourself.
Your compass and my compass are being guided by so many different dependencies.
You have immense power and your power is going to look and feel different than my power.

I wanted to share my 2021 theme with you, which is to become an adventurous creator.
It’s all about building and cultivating new things that are exploratory in nature.
I’m giving myself permission to fully step into adventurous creation. It’s something I’ve already been doing, but I haven’t owned it fully.
When you’re an adventurer, you don’t always know where you’re going. That’s the joy of going on an adventure - not knowing exactly where you will end up. This is the kind of energy I want to bring more of into this year. To run more online workshops, to write more poetry, and share more behind the scenes of my own side projects and business ventures.
I want to build more space for myself to create without everything having to be 💯 planned out. Sometimes creating just for the fun of creating is enough.
Ultimately, I’m hoping to give myself permissions to be more whole, to show up fully. And I hope that sharing this with you will give you permission to also show up more whole.
We’re all allowed to grow and change and evolve. I want to challenge you to be courageous and show up however you are called to show up this year.
If you are looking for extra support in doing this, I want to invite you to join me this week for a workshop on: Building a 2021 Business Strategy That Is In Alignment With Who You Are.
Take a look, and if you are called to join me, I’m hosting it on Wednesday, January 13th at 11:30am - 1:00pm EST. I would love to see you there.

Welcome to a new year!
With a new year comes a fresh energy of opportunity and hope.
Hope is a very important tool for us to have. Even more so in the world we live in today.
It doesn’t mean you should put pressure on yourself to be a “new year, new me”. What I invite you to focus on instead is on the essence of what you want this upcoming year to look like. Not the specific tactics, or strategies, or tasks… but the essence that you want to embody in yourself, in your relationships, in your business, and throughout your full life.
Essence is the energy we consciously choose to hold space for in our life.
If nothing else comes to fruition this year, what is the energy that you want to finish this year in.
Last year, I chose to embody compassion and I can genuinely say that, while the rest of my life looks completely different from what I had planned in early 2020, I have carried the essence of compassion with me.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think.

The gift of 2020 for me was the extra space that appeared in my life and allowed me to explore other creative outlets for myself.
I had big ambitions to travel and host in-person workshops, was set up to speak at multiple conferences across North America this year and as we know, that didn’t happen.
Instead, I became curious about expressing myself in new ways. I’ve noticed how Instagram and my podcast and writing poetry have unlocked yet another facet of myself. I have begun expressing myself differently, and what is interesting is that every time I challenge myself to show up differently, I peel back a new layer of who I am.
We are not one-dimensional and using different mediums and modes of communication and expression actually tap into different parts of ourselves.
Often, the typical social media strategies tell us to find a niche and share it across our channels. But what’s even more important is allowing yourself to show up without overthinking it and surprising yourself with how you show up.
By doing this, we become a beautiful kaleidoscope (I am referencing a poem that I wrote and shared on Instagram - here it is if you missed it and want to read/listen to it!)
On this week’s episode, I decided to experiment with a unique content approach, on top of talking about different ways to express yourself.
I pulled a card for all of us and gave my interruption of it.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think.
I believe in you.

This year has left us feeling disconnected from many of the spaces that had previously inspired and supported our business journeys.
Often, when we are feeling stuck in life or business, all we need is a space to come together, be inspired, and get outside perspectives and insights into what we can do to take our next step forward.
I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to incorporating more collaboration and connection in 2021, which is why I created a monthly ritual where I can connect directly with all of you:
A monthly group coaching + Q&A fireside chat where I answer all of your questions. And last week, I hosted the first of these calls - something that I plan to run on the third Wednesday of every month in 2021.
I’m sharing the recording with you today so you can get an idea of what to expect and to invite you to join us in January.
Here are the questions I answered on the Q&A:
It was an honour answering your questions.

Beyond dealing with different situations in our life, we also have to face ourselves in response to the situation.
Whenever I hear others telling me that I’m brave for starting my business or showing up authentically online or sharing this weekly newsletter, I always remind them that if we recognize traits in others it means we have the ability to embody those traits ourselves.
If we notice bravery in others, it means we have bravery within us - whether or not we are choosing to fully embody it at this moment.
When we catch ourselves wishing we could be like someone else, it’s important to catch ourselves creating this divide between who they are and who we are. We are all capable of the traits we admire in others.
In relation to business and showing up online, we often have this fear of being seen in the pursuit of learning and fumbling through that process of honing our craft. We’re afraid of being seen in the raw beginning process. But even as we grow and expand in one area, we will be curious and pursuing the next creative pursuit.
Don’t let this fear hold you back from showing up. Bravery is being willing to learn something new and expanding on that time and time again. When we think of bravery, we often think about conquering a goal. But we should focus on the small daily wins, following those soft whispers in our life as much as we do the big wins.

This year, I’m approaching the end of the year a little differently than in previous years.
2020 has been a ride.
Some of us have experienced massive growth, some of us have faced massive struggles, and some of us are somewhere in between, but all of us have been affected in some way this year.
Which is why I will be approaching my year-end planning in a different way this year...
To remind ourselves that, despite what happened in 2020, there is no dream that is too big to achieve. That the version of you who will accomplish all of your wildest dreams already exists inside of you.
The fact that you can conceptualize that small seed of an idea shows that there is a version of you who can bring it to life.
And maybe our purpose in life is simply to live out our deepest desires?
One of the biggest things I work on with my clients (and personally), is creating a container big enough to call in and support our biggest dreams.
Because big dreams require a lot of work and responsibility.
We cannot hold our dreams in our hands, if we don’t yet have the capacity to support their weight.
Often our biggest goals might not yet align with what we’re capable of handling.
Let me be clear, you are ALWAYS worthy and deserving of your dreams, exactly as you are right now, and nothing needs to change for that to be true..
However, being worthy & deserving doesn’t mean we’re ready.
That’s the beautiful paradox of life.
Feeling deserving is the very first step. Making space for that person to emerge is the second step.
Making space means a few things...
It means moving past fears, insecurities, doubts, self limiting beliefs, and replacing them with seeds of belief, resilience, confidence, inspiration, and knowing we are capable. Yes, even when we question that.
It means creating a plan for building a container big enough to hold these dreams, while still giving them room to grow and breathe.
It means creating systems and strategies, aligned offers, and finding innovative ways to offer them.
It means creating entirely new streams of income in our lives and letting go of things that don’t serve us.
It means facing ourselves in brave new ways and believing in the possibility that we’re actually beyond capable, worthy, and deserving. Because yes, you are.
And it means making mistakes, getting lost, and compassionately moving forward anyway.
The sky isn’t the limit my friends, because the universe is infinite.
You can create and live out whatever you bravely allow yourself to believe is possible for you.
And if you ever need help, my door is always open.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think.
I believe in you.
It’s that time of year to reflect on the past 12 months and gain perspective on everything we went through and are still going through.
This week I went through my storage boxes, flipping through old letters and notes, and it was such a beautiful time to get reacquainted with all the different versions of myself that sometimes I’ve forgotten about.
We have all lived multiple lives in our current life, and this is the power of perspective. Often, we feel trapped because we can’t do something or we only see the reasons why we can’t have something or achieve something. It makes us feel defined and rigid, forgetting that we’ve been many different versions of ourselves and have evolved our mindsets and opinions and fears. Things we’ve been afraid of in the past which we can now do without a second thought.
Whatever we are struggling with today, we have overcome a variation of that struggle in the past. So quickly we forget how truly powerful we are.
Perspective can show us that we are becoming who we always wanted to be.
We can often get frustrated with ourselves for not hitting all of the goals and dreams we have for ourselves. We can get stuck in the cycle of more, more, more. Perspective allows us to hold space for our current goals, but to look back and recognize that we are already living some of our goals from a decade ago, or even a year ago.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think.
I believe in you.

One of the things we have to realize when talking about freedom is that it isn’t linear, it doesn’t look or feel the same for everyone, and is very multifaceted.
Freedom, by the very nature of the word, is free to mean different things to different people.
One of the topics we discussed on The Lighthouse Collective last week was the idea of intuition and how to strengthen our connection to it by uncovering our true authentic values.
Often what gets in the way of us making empowered choices for ourselves, is that we’re using someone else's definition of freedom and success as our measure of success.
Freedom is often the sales pitch that’s used to sell entrepreneurship. It’s also the script used to shame others for not wanting it.
The pairing of entrepreneurship and freedom can be misleading because freedom can be found anywhere: it can be found by breaking down the delusions we have about ourselves and everyone around us.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think.
I believe in you.
Whenever we find ourselves working towards something we should stop and ask ourselves…
What are we looking for?
Why are we looking for it?
Where are we looking for it?
Sometimes we get so caught up in the pursuit of something that we fail to realize we might be striving for something that we don’t actually want, or that we might already have it and we just haven’t realized it.
Let’s be taking the time to pause and check in with ourselves.
Entrepreneurship and what comes up while building our businesses is often a mirror for who we are. We can without question guarantee that our insecurities will show up.
So while business needs to be calculated and strategic, it also has to be intuitive.
There are certain things that you will do or talk about that make you feel alive. And then there will be things that exhaust and overwhelm us.
What creates calm for you might create chaos for me. We are all being guided by different forces. Even those with the best intentions in our life can’t know what’s best for us. It’s better to make mistakes yourself and learn from them, than making someone else’s mistake and miss the opportunity to have built a deeper connection with our intuition.
That deeper connection to our intuition, will be what will help us answer,
What are we looking for?
Why are we looking for it?
Where are we looking for it?
And, it’ll help get you there.
On the episode, I cover:
Remember, you’re doing better than you think.
I believe in you.
Most businesses are created out of needing contrast.
We have a desire or need for something new, and so we create it. We fill an empty space that exists in the world with our business.
Contradictions and paradoxes are what make the world so abundant.
When it comes to marketing and sales, we are afraid to contradict the standards in our industry. We censor ourselves because our unique approach might feel wrong or out of place. Even when something doesn’t feel right, we go along with it because we don’t stop to appreciate that maybe there is space for that contradiction. That maybe doing something your way will fill an empty space that needs to be filled and give someone else permission, too.
Nothing is only just two things. Most things exist in a space in between. There is freedom here, to exist as you are without any should’s or would’s. Our business and life doesn’t have to be one or the other. We can live in the inbetween. We can run a business in the inbetween.
Nothing in this world is static.

What does using your intuition as a business strategy even mean?
Intuition means paying attention to the things that feel good in our hearts and belly. It’s being able to distinguish this from the thoughts in your mind (your ego). It’s about trusting that we are capable of what we desire, that we can let go of the expectations and shoulds.
Cultivating a deeper connection with your intuition can seem abstract, so here are some ways to make it more tangible.
One way is building self-trust starts with pausing your search for answers from others. Sitting in silence and learning to trust your inner feelings.
Ask yourself what feels right or makes sense for you before you ask others. Starting small builds this muscle to help us later on when we need our intuition for bigger decisions and pivots in our business.
We can have this false assumption that we are broken and so we are constantly searching for the answers outside of us.
It’s important to look for support and community where we feel supported in empowering ourselves, as opposed to searching for answers on the direction of our life from others.
This episode is an invitation to resist the urge to keep up with the hustle culture and dopamine hits of accomplishing tasks, and take the counterintuitive approach to creating space and silence for our intuition to come out.
Because following your intuition truly is your best business strategy.

The world as it is today can feel intense.
There are so many expectations, responsibilities, and work to be done.
It can feel very overwhelming.
You might be thinking….
I want to grow and expand my business, make more money, and create more stability in my life.
But I also want to address the needs of my community and the injustices in the world, while also finding time for the healing and space that I need.
How do I support and show up for others when I also feel ungrounded in these turbulent times and deeply in need of support too?
Where do I start? How do I start? How do I find time to do everything, to be everything?
The simple answer is that you don’t have to do it alone.
Part of our overwhelm comes from this idea that we have to do, and be, everything. But what if it was actually about coming together and being those things as a collective?
We are being called to step up.
Step up for ourselves, for those we care for, for our communities, and for people we will never meet.
I want to create a space where we can discuss tangible and actionable steps for all of us, regardless of where we are at. This is exactly why, last week, I hosted a virtual fireside chat where we came together to feel a little more connected, supported, and inspired.
I get real and honest in this and share 5 main tools I’ve learnt over the last few years after genuinely feeling that whole parts of me didn’t exist in my life and business.

The only way to become the person you’re excited and confident about is to embrace the person that you are today, at whatever stage of the journey you’re in.
We all go through our own journey and oftentimes, what helps us push through, is the community we surround ourselves with. Instead of looking at others as perfect or having everything together, it’s important to realize that we are all exactly where we need to be today on our journey towards our potential.
It’s why I’m so passionate about building a community for those of us with service-based businesses who are giving, giving, giving… doing, doing, doing… but also need to stop and fill up our own cups.
I’m hosting a free fireside chat this upcoming Wednesday where we will be diving into YOU, so that you can be supported personally and in your business with whatever it is you’re creating.
Come as you are and where you are today. It’s exactly where you need to be.
How this relates to this week’s episode is that often, we feel flawed because while we are able to see the qualities within ourselves that aren’t our favourite, we only see the perfect qualities that others choose to show us of themselves.
It leads us into thinking that other people have perfect businesses and are self-made, which makes us put immense pressure on ourselves to “get our shit together”.
Owning who you are today, and letting others fill your cup while you fill theirs is what shows us that none of us are self-made. We are all a byproduct of the communities around us.
But when we choose to project that we are self made, we are projecting from a house built of cards. We are desperate and anxious to try and keep it standing. It’s wildly egotistical, but it also just puts so much pressure on you to hold everything together without getting support.
I am not self made and the entire notion of being self made is a fallacy.
On the episode, I cover:
Together we’ve got this and I hope to see you on Wednesday.
I believe in you.
When we put our sense of accomplishment in milestones, we create a carrot and stick trap for ourselves.
We’ve all been there - telling ourselves that when we reach 10k months we’ll feel successful. And then, when we reach it, our new carrot becomes a 20k month. We put so much weight into these milestones when in reality, we are the source of our own power.
It’s the act of showing up, not the outcome, that gives us our power.
It’s important for us to acknowledge that the thing we are actually seeking is never in the accomplishment, but in who we become in the process of acquiring it. No one can ever take that away from us - the hard work we put in, the inner battles we’ve overcome, or the relationships we made.
Remember, who you become is more valuable than the thing itself.
When we’re able to ground ourselves in gratitude and appreciation for the work we did to get to our goals, that’s when we can ride all the waves of running a business.

The world didn’t give you your power or strength, and therefore the world can’t take it away.
So many of us forget that all the amazing things about ourselves come from inside of us. Our power and beauty and strength inherently exists within us, regardless of what is going on around us.
Forgetting this leads us to believe that the world can take it all away.
The biggest trap many entrepreneurs fall into is assigning our worth to our success.
This is where the topic of rejection comes in.
We all have our own version of rejection… people not signing up to our programs, not buying our product, a collaboration not happening.
It creates a feeling of powerlessness within us, like we are not in control of our own lives. Even worse, it can make us question our value, worth and power.
Remember, no one can take your power away unless you let them. Failure can’t take away your power unless you let it.

To find our ideal client, we need to look beyond demographics. These are just descriptors of a persona, checkboxes that give us a very limited view and understanding of who we’re looking to attract.
Because we all know, we are more than the boxes we get placed into by society. We are more complex than that - with hopes and dreams, fears, ideas and desires that extend beyond our ‘demographic’.
For those of us who offer more in-depth services, like coaching or healing based work, we need to also go in-depth on who our ideal client is.
The best way I’ve found to do this is answering three specific questions:
What is your ideal client moving away from?
What is your ideal client moving towards?
What is your ideal client trying to avoid?
In this week’s episode, I take you through my process of answering these questions and why they are so important.

The concept of “unbecoming” is a powerful one and something I speak about often. Unbecoming who we think we’re supposed to be and becoming who we truly are.
Obviously easier said than done, but something I think we all should consider as a serious business (and life) tactic.
Today, I want to take this philosophical discussion and ground it into the real world. To look at how unbecoming allows us to show up better in our marketing and selling.
If you are routinely struggling with marketing and selling yourself, the reason is most likely variations of your own insecurities. Fear of being seen, fear of feeling judged, fear of failing, to name a few.
If we were able to get rid of this (or learn to move past it), we would not have any real resistance to selling or marketing.
Realistically we say we ‘don’t get marketing’ but really it isn’t that hard. What’s hard, is actually putting ourselves out there.
Think of how easy it is to suggest your favourite tv show to a friend? You are passionately marketing and selling that tv show. It's the same formula to market and sell yourself, but you resist because.. well it’s you.
When we unbecome who we think we’re supposed to be, we can drop so much of the insecurity.
Why?
Because we are able to detach our notion of how ‘success’ is inherently what makes us valuable.
The process of unbecoming shows us that our sense of self is fabricated. Our desire to uphold a certain image, our fear of being judged, or what others will think is oftentimes actually the very thing holding us back from getting where we want to be.
Giving yourself space to explore the idea that maybe you’re more than who you have been taught that you need to be

Sometimes we can get stuck in the cycle of constantly “doing” without leaving any space for reflection.
Making space between the moment that you have a new idea and taking action on is what will allow you to build a business that is authentic.
Think about how often you ask yourself…
If what you’re doing makes sense?
If you’re building towards your dream life and business?
If what you’re doing is authentic to you and not influenced by your peers?
In entrepreneurship, it’s easy to get into a reactive mode. We see what others are doing and we jump onto the bandwagon. Or we hear a new marketing tip and we implement it right away.
I often talk about the “shiny object” syndrome with my clients who feel pulled towards someone else’s version of success.
When you find yourself reacting instead of responding, take some time to add more reflection instead of constant doing into your life.
Remind yourself that you’re on your own journey and try to appreciate someone else’s work without shaming yourself if that’s not where you are in your own business.

When I first launched my own coaching business, I left very little space for my authentic self.
Why?
Because I didn’t think that who I was, was good enough.
I wore my glasses more often because I thought I had to look older and smarter. I wore dresses and presented more feminine because I thought business coaches who were women had to look a certain way in order to be accepted. I would be more serious and less playful, all business and less spiritual.
This all stemmed from me feeling that who I was wasn’t good enough, and therefore I needed to be someone else. Some projected idea of what I thought success looked like.
This might resonate with you because this is how you feel too. I sometimes still catch myself feeling this way.
Being a calculated version of who you think you need to be will never allow you to feel whole. Feeling unworthy is a black hole that no amount of accomplishments or success will ever fill.
Learning to show up as the magnificent human you are, though, will help.
Ask yourself: How can you be less of who you think you have to be and more of who you actually are?
Remember to stop comparing yourself with your peers and start nurturing your authentic self.
If your black hole of “not enough-ness” is in the driver’s seat, you will continuously build a business that gets further and further away from who you are.

To build a successful business, there is sometimes this pressure to show up as one dimensional and to portray only a single side of us. There is so much emphasis on succeeding, that it’s also very easy for us to forget that we aren't one dimensional and perhaps have dreams outside of just ‘this’ business.
As a type 7 visionary, the biggest resistance I have in my business is to create complex structures that would take away from my freedom to explore other parts of myself, by requiring me to be ‘in’ my coaching business all the time. If I had a super rigid business structure, I wouldn’t be able to follow my real estate passion, or goal to be a serial entrepreneur. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen that over the past few weeks I’ve been renovating my newest investment property, and soon you’ll see something else popping up.
At our roots, we are all multi-faceted, contradictory, and ever-evolving humans. We don’t have to commit to only one thing for the rest of our life.
In my case, I don’t only run a coaching business.
While it fulfills me to my core and I know I want to be doing it forever, it also gives me the financial security and space to pursue the other ever-evolving parts of myself.
Coaching brings out the philosophical side of me. I love that my coaching business allows me to explore those parts of who I am. But that’s not all of who I am. I am multifaceted and complex. I have other parts of myself that I also want to explore.
How can you create space to integrate all of those pieces of who you are in your business and in life?
Are there other things you want to create space for in your life outside of just the current business you run?
Remember, there is not right or wrong in how to run your business. There is only what’s right for you.

We have been told largely that our sense of safety and security comes down to what we earn and how stable that income is.
We think that the more money we make, the more control we will have over the quality of our lives.
This though in a lot of ways, is a fallacy. Security is not tied to how much money we make, if anything it’s tied to how we handle our money. Even then though that can only give us so much. This is an important distinction to make because often, in our pursuit of more money, we actually give up important parts of ourselves with the notion that once our pile of money grows bigger so will our sense of safety.
We convince ourselves that this trade-off will be worth it, even though it isn’t.
Covid has shown us that even the most seemingly “secure” jobs and industries have been rocked. It has allowed us to see that safety and security are never guaranteed, regardless of what work we choose to do.
There is power in knowing this.
Ultimately the only thing you truly need to feel safe and secure is YOU.
Nothing external - not your perfect morning routine, how fit you are, what your relationship status is, how many books you read or degrees you have, how much money you make - none of this will eliminate the chaos that is part of the human experience.
Safety and security come from our ability to trust ourselves that we will be able to handle whatever comes our way.

We’ve often heard the phrase, ‘what advice would you give your younger self?’.
I like posing the question from another perspective.
What advice would your childhood self give you?
There’s a lot of power in who we were before we started changing ourselves in order to belong.
What would your childhood self say to the current day you? Would they be proud and excited? Would they find it interesting what you do for fun and play? Would they recognize themselves in you?
Children are brutally honest, so listen to what your childhood self would say. Tap into these questions and see what you can uncover. A lot of who we are is who we’ve always been.
Ask yourself: what was your essence as a child?
One thing I admire about childhood Lana is that when you crossed a boundary of hers, she stood up for herself with confidence. She knew what was right and wrong (for her) and she would express that to you instead of trying to be polite and pretending it didn’t bother her.
As an adult, this is the area I struggle with the most. My desire to be liked has on more than one occasion overcame my ability to hold my boundaries.
This exercise is important because it helps us remember what power we had as children. And then, how can we be more comfortable letting ourselves show up this way as adults?
This is the key to attracting people and opportunities into your life. Your inner power is the magnet that pulls them into your orbit.
You can strengthen this magnet by radically owning who you are. The essence of who you were when you were young, in many ways is actually the core of that magnet.

We talk a lot about leaning into community over competition.
But how do you actually build a thriving community and collaborate with like-minded people?
For paid groups, it’s important to look at both the content and context. By context I mean who is running it? Will they attract like-minded people that you also resonate with? Or do you only resonate with their content, and in that case maybe should only commit to an online course?
For other types of community, these can often come from events you’ve attended (talks, workshops, retreats etc), connecting with people online, reaching out and networking and finding ways to evolve and create community together.
Building community is fundamental to our business. It fuels our continuous growth through an exchange of energy, support, ideas, hopes, strategies, validation, and so much more.

We are still in a global pandemic, protests are going on around the world and it also happens to be the middle of summer right now. This can lead all of us to feel like we are all in a place where maybe your priority isn’t fully on our work.
September is around the corner, which is often a time of new energy and beginnings. Like clockwork, it’s a time where for a lot of us, our guilt creeps in for not having done “enough” during the summer. It’s what I like to call a season of contraction.
If we remember that expansion always follows our times of contraction, then we can be kinder to ourselves through the phases of feeling as if we’re not doing enough. We are humans, not machines, and that means we cycle through seasons and rhythms. Summer is often a season where we feel like doing less, and that is perfectly okay.
We all go through different cycles and the better you can befriend and understand yours, the easier it is to support yourself.
When we feel like we’re in a contraction, when we feel like we haven’t been doing enough and start to panic about it we can react (vs respond) to this feeling with anxiety. We all have survival mechanisms and even though they are there to protect us, they often do us more harm than good.
When we understand that this feeling of contraction is a part of life, it allows us to respond to our anxiety with more gentleness and a knowing that if we support ourselves, the anxiety will diminish and we’ll actually have new found energy that follows.

“If you’re feeling stuck, you’re being called to do something different. To change your point of view. Creativity happens when we put together two things that don’t belong. When we do the unexpected”.
I want to talk about business structure today.
I’ve gotten trapped time and time again trying to build my purposeful business by approaching it from traditional business structures.
Often, we try to build our ethical empire using someone else’s strategy.
When we look at business structure, it’s often built around capitalistic values of scalability, profitability, and how we can make the most money even if it kills us.
When we look at structure, we need to create a container and structure that makes sense for who we are, what we’re trying to build and the kind of impact we want to have.
Not everything has to be super scalable. Many clients think: if they can’t scale an idea, they won’t even start it. If they can’t quadruple their income, then it’s not a good business idea. This type of thinking can be a trap. Innovation often comes from trying to make the world a better place in some way. If we only thought in terms of profit, many of the things we have today wouldn’t exist.
What if you approached your business from an artistic perspective? From the way you create your offers to how you sell your services.
We need to have structure in our business in order to have it thrive and make money. However there is also a lot of space to view our work through an artistic lens, where we also value creativity, exploration, creation and the space to envision something grand.
Remember, creativity happens when we put together two things that don’t seemingly belong. When we do the unexpected, magic happens. What if that magic you create, is exactly the missing ingredient in having your business become everything you’ve ever dreamed it could be and more?

When we try to conform, we end up losing the best parts of who we are.
If we give ourselves permission to be weird, to be different, to be eccentric in whatever ways feel good for us, we'll find our authentic self. So much of figuring out who you are, has to do with forgetting who you feel you’ve needed to be in order to ‘fit in’.
Working with, talking about, and believing in energy can be considered ‘woo’ but in this community I like to think we know that there is so much possibility out there, why not believe in and utilize energy?
Energy work is like software. It’s intangible and always present. You can create software from an idea, and build it online, without needing to go to the store and buying physical supplies to do so. Energy is the same. You can imagine and create things.
With energy work, you are not chasing a goal or label. You are purely remembering all that you’re capable of, and uncovering and strengthening your superpowers.
Jeffrey Allan, a world renowned energy worker and healer (maybe you’ve seen his classes on Mindvalley, that's where I was first introduced to him) helps you tune into your superpowers. We think “other people” can do magical things, but for some reason... not us. Over here, we are on a mission to empower the everyday person to do great things.
For people who don’t think “they” have intuitions and powers: Work from your own experience. You have to try things for yourself to know if they’re right for you. Different people have different reactions. You have to get your own experiences, try them out for yourself, practice them more, and then it starts being real. You’re more empowered and tuned in to your gifts the more you consciously try to play and interact with them.
All the information we need is already inside of us. We need to turn off our thinking mind and let the thoughts flow without pressure.
What is the unique way that YOU can help people? What makes you ‘weird’ (aka cool) and unique?
On this episode, Jeffrey Allen and I dive into:
Remember that you’re doing better than you think.
Together we’ve got this.
I believe in you.
Jeffrey Allen is a popular Mindvalley teacher and speaker, an intuitive and energy healer. Through live seminars and online energy training, Jeffrey has taught thousands of people to harness the power of their own energy & awareness – to improve their relationships, deepen their spiritual connection, and increase their personal presence, happiness, and impact in the world. Jeffrey's mission is to make energy work & higher awareness available to everyone – so we can each unburden ourselves from needless conflict & pain, and embrace happy, fulfilled lives of true passion, purpose & meaning. In his newest project, Jeffrey is teaming up with his amazingly intuitive wife Hisami, to create a modern blueprint for spiritual growth and true Spirit Mind Living. Together, they are bridging the gap between east and west, and helping people around the world awaken to their true spiritual potential. The self help / personal development industry is huge right now.
Especially in the entrepreneurial world (cough I am in it cough).
This industry can be either problematic or beautiful. It just depends on which lens you are using to look at your growth and development. One lens is that you are a problem to be fixed, and the other is that you are inherently good just as you are, but are holding space to be better.
It can be problematic when the narratives we create do more harm than good. When we’re told that we are a problem that needs to be fixed, we end up focusing on what we feel makes us broken, incomplete, undeserving, and unworthy. We forget that we are human beings, not machines, which means we are never broken. We don’t need to be fixed, nor can we ever achieve ‘perfection’ when we are all so beautifully different and complex. We weren’t ‘built’ to be perfect and that’s where self help can sometimes be problematic: when it treats us as if we are broken and that if we were just tinkered with enough, we might become perfect one day.
When we approach our development from the perspective that we’re broken, we lose the space to hold compassion and gratitude for ourselves.
It can also be beautiful when we use the lens that we are inherently good just as we are, and simply holding space to be better. Self compassion is the ultimate business strategy (and strategy for life too)! If whatever you’re doing is infused with self compassion then you are more likely to accomplish your goals. Compassion leads you to believe that you can strive to be better than you already are while still fully embracing who you are now. It gives you space to honour your strengths and areas for growth. It allows you to embrace the idea that you are good enough, right now, without having to change a single thing.
Using the lens that we are inherently good as we are actually gives us more energy, whereas when we see ourselves as a problem to be fixed, we waste a lot of energy beating ourselves up.
The kind of energy that exists with the idea that you are inherently good is empowering, compassionate, and encouraging.
When you are a problem to be fixed, the energy is judging, negative, self aggressive, and can even be punishing.
Ask yourself:
How much time and energy are you wasting on fighting who you are?
How can you accept yourself as you are, while still holding space to be better?
On this episode, I cover:
Remember that you’re doing better than you think.
Remember that you’re not a problem to be fixed.
Remember that you’re inherently good, beautiful, and capable as you are RIGHT NOW.
Together we’ve got this.
I believe in you.

“If you don’t bring forth what is within you, it will destroy you”
People are afraid to go inward and discover their genius, because they won’t know what they will do with it.
Our zone of genius is such a big part of us, which is why it feels so scary and intimate to release it out to the world. But many of us end up doing only 10% of what we love doing, and the rest is work that drains us.
What if you could tailor your work to do 90% of what you love?
Imagine the amount of energy that would radiate off of you and onto those around you, if you were able to spend the majority of your time doing work that truly makes you come alive and lights you up?
This isn’t just some distant dream or naive thought, this is genuinely possible for you and others.
We spend so much of our bandwidth trying to avoid being vulnerable, it ironically becomes the very thing that makes us vulnerable. We desire financial freedom, but give up our freedom to make money. We want to create a name for ourselves so that we are important, but often give up who we genuinely are in the process.
Moving into your zone of genius (or spiral, because it’s never ending) is about so much more than doing work that makes you come alive. It’s about actually creating the life you have worked so hard for, with more ease and enjoyment. Being in your zone of genius also means the work you do is much more impactful and ripples out into the world in profoundly powerful ways.
Bring forth the power that is within you, and let all of us bask in the beauty of your radiating power and light.
If you find yourself getting trapped in the responsibility and idea of, “How can I do what makes me come alive when I have bills and family to take care of”, then you better listen to this week’s episode to learn how to step out of that space of scarcity and fear, and recognize you can do what makes you come alive AND take care of all your responsibilities.
What makes you come alive creates a lot of energy. That heightened energy is what attracts more energy. This is the energy that now attracts more opportunities, resources, money, time and other beautiful things. Different work feels different. When something drains you, you will not attract the same energy in the way that you do when you’re fired up.
Once you lock in what you love to do, it has a self generating energy. But when you’re just doing things because you’re good at them, it doesn’t fuel you in the same way.
On this episode, we cover:
And here is Gay Hendrick’s latest book: Conscious Luck: Eight Secrets to Intentionally Change Your Fortune

How do you explain what it is that you do, when you feel parts of your work and the transformation you offer people are almost unexplainable?
Marketing is simply a form of communication. When trying to explain an experience, we need to think outside of just website copy, email copy, and social media copy. This alone won't open their eyes to the experience of what it’s truly like working with you, or using your product.
We’ve all heard the saying ‘it doesn’t matter what you say, it just matters how you make them feel’, well that applies to marketing too.
How can you make people feel what it’s like to work with you, when you know that words won’t do it justice? The best way to market your product or service: experience-based marketing.
There are certain aspects of your way of doing business that can’t be explained. It’s a lived experience. Something that can only be understood to the full depth of it’s awesomeness through interaction.
You can do this, without them having to work with you or buy your product.
Marketing is a powerful tool, that at its core (to me at least) is actually about giving people a taste of that experience.
Pull people into your orbit (aka lead generation), and while they circle your planet (aka marketing), you build trust and are able to pull them onto your planet as a client. How can you show them your magic to pull them in? That’s where experiential marketing comes in.
On this episode, I cover experiential strategies that I use on my business:

When you hear the phrase ‘work ethic’, what do you think?
For many reasons, Jason and I both strongly dislike it. Here's why.
When we take things too seriously, we lower our creativity.
When we try to control things (cough unhealthy obsession with productivity cough) we kill creativity and spontaneity.
Work ethic insinuates that there is some type of moral compass associated with working.
You’re either right (work hard and grind) or you’re wrong (lazy). If you have a good work ethic you’re a good person, a valuable person, someone of merit, but that type of thinking is problematic and it traps us.
Why are we putting so much pressure on work?
What about joy? Play? Rest? Relaxation?
We need to loosen the tight grip on everything we think we’re ‘supposed to be doing’ and let work be fun. What’s the point of everything you’re doing if we can’t have joy?
How do you give up work ethic? How can we shift our reality?
My guest this week is Jason Goldberg. As an ‘activator of joy’, his online business plan is to leave everybody he meets with 5% more joy than when they met him, and I can honestly say after recording this episode with him, HE IS REALLY GOOD AT DOING THAT.
Your business is a vehicle for much more than just making money. Give yourself the space and the play. You deserve it.

Racism as it relates to business can be an intimidating subject to dive into.
Historically we’ve heard “It’s too political”. However I want to challenge that perspective.
Addressing racism, or any type of power and privilege dynamic (homophobia, sexism, ableism, poverty, etc), is actually about human rights, not politics. Speaking on these issues is simply you standing up and using your voice and influence for something you believe in.
Don’t confuse standing up for human rights as being ‘too political’.
Not only is this a wrong way to approach your business, it also leads to you diminishing your voice in other ways. When we feel certain topics are taboo or not appropriate for business, what we do is fall in line with this status quo notion that there is a ‘right’ and a ‘wrong’.
The goal though, should be to bring your full self into your business. That includes causes and issues that are important to you.
I know there is this large fear around being called out. However, be open to the idea that you are going to make a mistake and therefore you will be corrected, and from there you can learn and pivot. Just like you’re open to knowing you’re going to make other business mistakes as well.
Being scared of what people will think of you when you share your message is actually the thing that’s problematic. We need to give up this idea of perfectionism. Be bold and brave.
Just like everything we talk about here around business, expect to make mistakes and have compassion for yourself when you do.
If you wait to get it right, you will be waiting forever.
What are you passionate about? What are you eager to advocate for?
Your voice has meaning and power, use it to help create the world you desire.

Have you ever had the inner dual of wanting to pursue a big, beautiful and bold dream, while also holding onto the fear, doubt and insecurity that wants to hold you back from believing you have what it takes to achieve it?
Of course you have, because you’re human.
My dreams and my fears LOVE battling it out inside my mind.
The reality is fear is always going to accompany building something of importance. What we need to do is learn how to enhance the power of our dreams, so that we are able to move past our fears.
A strategy to do this is realizing that when the excitement of a future outcome outweighs the immediate feelings of fear, we are able to take courageous action in the direction of our dreams.
For some of us though, leaning into the possibility of that excitement can be hard. Part of that comes from the fact that we don’t actually let ourselves feel into the richness of what living out our dreams could entail.
It is important for us to get excited about and inspired by our own ideas. If we don’t do that, who's going to?
That first step of feeling excitement and using that energy to take a courageous step is important because, as we get moving, the courage flows easier and faster to us. All of a sudden we can handle the fears, setbacks, and failures with more confidence and grace.
As much as we always want to have certainty, it’s important to get in the mindset that certainty is a fallacy. Nothing is certain and as we’ve talked about before, what if the bravest thing we can do is actually be taking full committed action towards our dreams, without any guarantees they will work out.
Remember that being an ‘entrepreneur’ is not the end goal, it isn’t a destination that you arrive at. Entrepreneurship is just a way of life - it’s the vessel through which we choose to pursue our mission, our hopes, and dreams.
I was so excited to record this week’s episode with the former CEO of Mindvalley, and co-Founder of Evercoach, Ajit Nawalkha.
This guy is a POWERHOUSE coach and has been a source of inspiration for me for many years.
Ajit Nawalkha (former CEO of Mindvalley and co-founder of Evercoach) builds businesses. After failing a startup, struggling through failed partnerships, and going from the ranks of an intern to a co-founder, he found business is lot more about emotional, spiritual, physical and mental resilience--and not as much about strategy. His passion is to help make world a better place. He insists entrepreneurs are going to do that. His endeavor is to empower you so you can be the change world needs.
I am looking forward to sharing this episode with you, as I know I walked away with a TON of great takeaways.

In a world with social media, we can get caught in a cycle of competition with our peers.
Thinking that other people are copying us. That they’re offering the same products as us. That they’re encroaching on our lane.
This prevents collaboration from happening.
Needing to be the best. Fear of someone coming into our market. These are all scarcity feelings. The flare up of our emotions is not something to indulge in and act on. Call out your feelings, see if they’re rooted in competition and scarcity, and then see if you can lean into feelings of collaboration and abundance.
Recently, while recording an episode with Gay Hendricks (the author of the Big Leap - stay tuned for his episode) he said the number one killer of creativity is control. When we’re focusing on what other people are doing, we’re creating a container that’s controlled, instead of creating a container that can nourish our ideas and ourselves.
As entrepreneurs, the backbone of our business is creating something out of nothing.
If we’re worried about what other people are doing, and that they’re competing with us and us them, all of those things are going to flare up the controlling part of us. When we think power is limited to those at the top, we will try to control ourselves to play the game the way we think we have to play it. This control will kill creativity.
When we look at creation from a collaborative mindset, we’re so much richer for it. Nothing is created in a silo. The best things in our lives have been influenced by others.
Whether we’re crippled by fear or driven to create something copy-cat, neither option is going to be helpful.
Let’s all try to create more collaboration and community in our lives vs comparison and competition.
Creativity is where we come alive, it’s what fuels us and our businesses. It’s going to look different for all of us, and that is why we need community and collaboration; we all bring something unique to the table.
Remember, what if bravery is giving something your absolute all without any guarantee that it will work out? Don’t give into the fear of comparison and competition.
It’s a conscious choice to lean into collaboration over competition. But the more you do it, the easier it becomes.

Mindset is a fundamental aspect of success and living a fulfilling, joyous life.
But, like all good things, too much of it might do more harm than good.
Not all limiting beliefs are meant to be dispelled. They exist because we are human, and they are simply a part of us. If you are brave enough to pursue your wildest dreams, you will be faced with a bag of insecurities.
Every day I face my own bag of insecurities, so don’t worry you’re not alone in that.
We tend to want to eliminate all of our limiting beliefs, but sometimes it’s enough to simply embrace them. Wanting them to be gone can actually cause us to fall into a shame cycle when we become frustrated at ourselves for still having them.
We will have moments where we feel we’ve overcome a limiting belief. We don’t experience it anymore. And then we move towards new goals and those feelings will hit us all over again, just in a different way. It’s hard enough to be feeling resistance, fear, and insecurities, but now you’re also spiraling in shame for having this limiting belief that you thought you got rid of come back.
This is a trap we get into when we want to banish our biggest limiting beliefs.
Instead, what if we embrace the idea that we will have to face them when we do something worthwhile, and our comfort comes from knowing we have the tools to move forward anyway.
Compassion is one of the best strategies you can use to grow your business.
Why? Because all the time you spend shaming yourself, you can use it towards actually growing your business.
Limiting beliefs are a routine checkpoint that you will go through many times while on the journey of accomplishing your dreams. Surrender to it being a part of your journey, as opposed to resisting and judging yourself for not eliminating every single limiting belief forever.

Q: How do people harness or fail to harness their emotional intelligence in making business-related decisions?
We’ve seen people build businesses in alignment with themselves vs. people who have built businesses based on what they think success looks like.
We feel that there can be a crossroad of needing to make money for bills vs. doing what lights us up. This kind of thinking in and of itself is a trap. There doesn’t have to be “one or the other”, although sometimes society likes to trick us into believing that’s true.
We are told that there is only One Path that will lead us to success, money, and fame.
Many of us will sell our souls to follow what “works” because we crave the assumed security that comes with success. We think following this path will give us a sturdy foundation and we’ll never have to worry about money, which will lead us to a happy, safe, and secure life.
This is not about not making money… this is about us thinking that having a certain amount of money will eliminate all of our worries and problems and therefore it’s the priority. It’s about knowing that no amount of money will ever truly make us feel whole.
Money can only offer us so much, so we need to prioritize HOW we are making money. If we are making it in a way that lights us up, we are more able to feel whole.
Susan Piver talks about how our society values three things and that while these three things are valuable, they aren’t going to guarantee our safety, security and happiness. Those three things are:
Excellent commerce/business
Profound ideas
Skillful leadership
This is our dogma in the entrepreneurial world, that those three things above all other things are to be valued. It’s a pedestal that we’ve created and ultimately all want to get on because then we will be safe from struggle. If we achieve those three things, we are safe.
With covid, we are seeing a lot of wealthy, successful people who are struggling mentally and emotionally and lots of people are lacking empathy for them because of the fallacy that having money guarantees happiness.
Going back to your choice of which path to take, if the path towards endless amounts of money (at the expense of our fulfillment) won’t fix all of our problems, then why is it so high on our pedestal?
When choosing the so-called guaranteed business model, understand that there is actually no guarantee by taking that path. So if you’re assuming risk, why not lean into the path that fuels us and makes us come alive.
We need more people who are empowered and radiating joy. Not more people who are doing things to pay their bills.
You can have both: alignment and money. Lean into that. If you aren’t sure how to do that, hit reply and let’s chat. I happen to be really good at helping people do both, and I want that for you too.
Real courage is giving our business everything you’ve got despite any guarantee of achieving a certain outcome.
I believe in you!
