London-based Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is expecting the cedi’s end of year rate against the dollar to hit ¢7.87 as captured in its April 13, 2022, assessment of the Ghanaian economy. The Bank of Ghana has once again warned the public (companies, institutions and individuals) to desist from unauthorized dealings in foreign currency. This is in accordance with the Foreign Exchange Act, 2006 (Act 723). According to a statement from the Central Bank, companies, institutions and individuals are prohibited from engaging in foreign exchange business without a license issued by Bank of Ghana or pricing, advertising, receipting or making payments for goods and services in foreign currency in Ghana, without written authorization from Bank of Ghana.

Businessman, Senyo Hosi says government’s support for Ghana’s agricultural sector is largely inadequate and unable to generate profitability for farmers and investors engaged in agribusiness. High lending rates: IEA blames government, BoG, banks
The debate over high lending rates in the country will not end anytime soon, as the Institute of Economic Affairs is blaming the high cost of credit on government, banks and the Bank of Ghana. Though the institute believes the problem is multifaceted, it is attributing the high cost of loans to these three actors.
