Do you remember a time when God did something awesome in your life? Do you recall
someone pouring their life into yours? In the message today, we wind back the clock to the time of Moses and Joshua. Early in Moses's career as the Israelite's leader, he received some great advice from his Father-In-Law, Jethro. He warned Moses that he would not be able to continue leading all of the Israelites by himself; he had to enlist the help of others. Moses listened, and as we see near the end of his life, he successfully passed the torch to Joshua. Joshua was empowered and ready to lead the Israelites into the promised land. We too have a torch to carry. Jesus commissioned all of us to teach others what he taught us (Matt 28:19). I encourage you to carry your torch well and to successfully pass it on to others. Let Us NOT forget our commission from Jesus!

At 17 years old, he lost his older brother, who was 23 at the time. Brent strayed away from God after this. When we think of Abraham, we frequently think of the promises that God gave to him, and the greatness of his faith. But as is the case with many of the heroes of the faith, Abraham also had times of weakness where he disobeyed God. Just like all of us, he gave way to his fears which resulted in a lack of faith. The lack of faith led to disobedience, and the resulting consequences led to pain for generations to come. Not only does disobedience bring consequences, but it also causes confusion, conflict, loss and regret. And thanks be to God, it frequently leads to discipline. Yes, thankfully, we have a loving Father who wants us to be better than we currently are, who is willing to discipline us as is necessary. Although discipline is uncomfortable while it is happening, in the end it brings a harvest of righteousness (Hebrews 6:11).

Let's face it, families are different. Some are fun and some are glum. Some are large, while others are small. Some run at a speed that's faster than a speeding bullet, yet others are as slow as molasses. No matter how you slice it, no family is ordinary; they are all different. In the first part of our new series, "No Ordinary Family", we talk about what family should look like at LCC. Family should be together as much as possible. Isolation was never God's plan for believers. He created us with a need to spend time with each other. Family should show grace towards each other, refusing to allow offense to take ground within our family. Family should bring healing to our members via confession and prayer (James 5:16). Finally, our family should have a mission to create a family that is EVER-EXPANDING as new family members come to know Christ. How are we doing?

Never in history has information been so readily available. With so much information available, it can be easy to lose focus on what is important. Simply said, God is what is important. Our purpose is to bring glory to Him, and for us to do that, we've got to pursue Him in everything. In our relationships, in our free time, in our business, in all of our life, we need to be about God. He is the light, and our job as Christians is to reflect His light everywhere in everything that we do. As Matthew says, "You are the light of the world" (Matt 5:14).

Last week was One Life Camp mission trip. Jodi, Jamey and Shaun preach.
In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul is talking with the Thessalonica church, who have been hearing that "The Day of the Lord" has already passed. He reminds them that this is a day in the FUTURE and that there are many distinguishable things that will happen BEFORE this day comes. We, like the the Thessalonians, frequently believe things that are untrue. Just as Paul was concerned for these believers because their foundation had been shaken by lies, God shows concern for us, warning us not to be deceived. How do we fight this? Like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, we fight this by ensuring that we ALWAYS compare what we've heard to the Word of God. Whether a message is from a friend, a teacher or a pastor, the Word of God always trumps. Our defense is in the Word and our relationship with God. The more we know them, the more easily we will be able to identify and avoid deception in what ever form it appears.

This Father's Day, we continue our Summer in Thessalonians by delving into the first ten verses of 1 Thessalonians 4. Pastor Jamey talks about the process of Sanctification where we gradually change on the outside based upon the influence of the Holy Spirit on the inside. Sanctification is a simple process of doing what the Holy Spirit tells us to do. As simple as it is, this separation from evil and drawing close to God can be a daunting task. Fortunate for us, the Holy Spirit also provides the power to do what He asks us to do.

We get the great opportunity to sit down with Christian singer/songwriter before his concert at LCC. Ben has an incredible story of God’s grace in his life and his journey to Christ. Ben grew up on a dairy farm, and said that Jesus was pretty much a “cuss word” in his house growing up. He lived a life apart from Christ for many years of his life, until about 3.5 years ago when he finally surrendered everything he had to Christ and also switched from country music to Christian Music. Pastor Jamey begins the message with an address to the church. As the church, we need to stop categorizing sin, saying that one sin is worse than another. Reality is that Pride is one of the biggest sins that God warns about, yet our culture is celebrating it for an entire month. As Christians we need to speak the truth; we need to speak the Bible rather than demonstrating tolerance for sin as our culture promotes. We need to realize that we are ALL sinners saved by grace and like God, we need to love people who sin. But while loving people, we have to also speak the truth of the Word of God, confronting sin. As God frees us from sin, we find that it drives us to Him. This demonstrates that our deepest needs becomes gifts when they drive us to depend on God.

In our message today, Kid's Pastor Jodi Miller has a conversation about the Next Generation. Are we building a firm foundation for our family? A foundation built on truth, and embedded in Jesus Christ our solid rock. This kind of foundation is necessary for God to build us into what He wants us to be. It is essential, if we want to realize everything that God wants in our lives. Sometimes, we have to adjust because we've built on something less. This may require change and redirection. Other times, our foundation is so incomplete and unstable that the only way forward is a complete redo, a complete leveling of our lives so that it can be rebuilt. God loves us enough to do what is best, including a redo, if necessary.

In this episode we hear from Andrew Wetzler. When Andrew was a senior in high school, before he was a Christian, his girlfriend of six months became pregnant. Eventually, they mutually decided to get an abortion. They then broke up, and years later, Andrew found himself at a service at LCC. After this service he was moved by what he heard, bought a Bible, and could not put it down. However, this abortion "secret" was sticking with him. Listen in to hear an incredible story of how this came to light and Andrew was able to forgive himself because of the forgiveness he received through Christ Jesus.

We were heading toward destruction. "But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners" (Rom 5:8). In 2 Kings 20, Hezekiah was faced with eminent death. In tears, he prays out to God, and within moments, God tells Isaiah that Hezekiah will live another 15 years. Later, Isaiah confronts Hezekiah after he shows off the treasures of Judah to the Babylonians. Isaiah informs him that a time is coming when all the treasures as well as some of his very own sons will be carried off to Babylon. Ironically, Hezekiah saw the message as "good" since it wasn't going to happen in "his" lifetime. What about his people? Hezekiah showed no concern for his people, his family? He should have cried out to God as much for his people as he did for his own life.
Jesus describes our family as anyone who does the will of the Father, and Paul, calls out people who won't care for their relatives as "worse" than unbelievers.
Do we show concern for our people? Are we taking care of our mother, brothers and sisters in Christ? Or are we being self-centered like Hezekiah?

Anxiety can come in many forms and can emanate from many aspects of life. Regardless of where it comes from, the result is destructive and without benefit. Arthur Roche describes anxiety as “... a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained.” The Bible consistently notes that it accomplishes nothing and only tears down and destroys. The Bible documents 132 times that Jesus touches people. Only 10 times did he work with people in and around the temple. The other 122 times, Jesus was interacting with people in normal streams of life. We too should realize that if we are to be successful in our mission, we have to be changed by God in our normal streams of life, not just within a church setting.
In today's message, we address a common problem for many, Depression. The problem has doubled its affect over the last three years, and is second only to heart disease, in causing death in the United States today.

In this message, we center our focus on Jesus as He goes about doing what His Father was doing. Jesus states that He cannot do anything on is own, but instead, He does what His Father tells Him to do. Whatever God says for Jesus to do, He does. He is completely driven by His Father. He is partnered with God the Father in Work, Unity and Love. While Jesus was on earth, He encouraged us to do like He did. He encouraged us to pattern our lives after His; making disciples. He also promised that after He ascended, He would send the Holy Spirit as a helper to us. As Christians, the Holy Spirit (God Himself) takes up residency within us and consistently guides us and nudges us to participate in His work. So, how will we respond to Jesus's request? Will we make ourselves available to be used by the Holy Spirit to make disciples?

It used to be that society and culture looked to the church for guidance and wisdom. They valued what the church had to say. Culture is different today. It is the cancellation culture, one that expects silence and suppression. But Jesus and the message of the Gospel cannot be cancelled. From the beginning of Jesus's life on earth, everything about Him was done in power; life changing power. His power was demonstrated throughout His life and it continues to permeate history today. There's a repetitive theme in the Bible that displays meekness as the desired quality by God. Meekness is the opposite of pride, and it is the meek that will inherit the Kingdom.
In the United States, 9-11 will continue to be etched into our minds as we remember the many losses that we incurred that day. Likewise, we are frequently reminded of other types of losses that continue to plague us in our daily lives. Deciding to follow Christ as our Lord and Savior, makes us a new creation. However, we have to decide to walk in that new identity. If we ignore that we are a new creation, we don't take care of the serious spiritual wounds that God wants to heal us of. He wants us to experience true healing but He will not force it upon us. We have to want this healing and be willing to be transformed. If we do, we will experience Freedom in Christ; which comes as we see ourselves as a son or daughter of God.

Once we give our lives to God and accept His free gift of salvation, ALL of our sins are forgiven. Sins that occurred in our past as well as those sins that will creep into our lives in the future are all paid for in full. So why does God ask us to confess those sins? When bottled up, our sin builds up. The pressure continues to build until it explodes like Mentos in soda. God is aware that hiding and concealing our sin is costly to us. Likewise, he knows that by confessing our sins and repenting of those sins, we change. He knows that our heart will change, and that will lead to healing. Listen in as we walk through Proverbs 28 and 29 to learn more about God's strategy to provide healing from the inside out.

We gain perspective into what the Bible defines as training our children. We find that it is a hands-on Biblical pursuit that continues for LIFE. Although it shifts and changes as our children age, this responsibility should continue throughout your life. Faith filled relationships, what do they look like?

What do we say to each other? Is it gentle and uplifting or does it tear apart in an instant? One fact we see is that it is much easier to tear someone down than to lift someone up. So how do we do that? Do we just have to stop speaking negatively? Or is there more? Dive in with us this week as we explore how to be transformed so people know there is something different about where we come from.
In the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, a marathon runner from Tanzania was hit during the race. The hit knocked him to the pavement, resulting in a dislocated knee and badly wounded shoulder. He got up and continued to race finishing last, as the sun set. When asked why he kept running, he replied, "My country did not send me 5,000 miles to start the race; they sent me 5,000 miles to finish the race." God has has also sent us to finish a race. How are we doing? Are we running well? Hebrews 12 tells us to lay aside every weight and sin that ensnares us so that we can run effectively. When we carry weights and sins like unforgiveness, bitterness, or anxiety, we cannot run successfully. We need to drop these things that are weighing us down; so that, we can run effectively. We have to understand that collectively, we cannot win the race if we aren't running the race well individually.

If visiting the eastern shore of Florida these days, you may be startled by a thunderous noise. On high alert, you scan the horizon seeking its source, when suddenly, a white plume begins to unfold, chasing a bright glowing light as it ascends into the sky. The source is a rocket heading to a destination that is beyond our atmosphere. The rocket seems to effortlessly follow the parabolic trajectory to its target, but unbeknownst to most, its path is constantly being adjusted by thousands, if not millions, of course corrections. Similar to a rocket, we will nimble our way through life on a trajectory. If we desire to arrive at the various destinations that God has planned for us, we must constantly adjust. The Holy Spirit liberally provides wisdom to those who ask for it, allowing us to continually correct the course of our life. Join us today as our guest speaker, Mike Ploen, introduces us to Wisdom, our Guidance Control System, in Proverbs 8 and 9.
As we continue our Summer In Proverbs, we explore Proverbs 5, 6 and 7, bringing focus to Proverbs 6. There we dig into seven things that God hates and calls detestable. Haughty Eyes, Lying Tongues, Hands that kill the innocent...the list goes on. God hates these behaviors because they breach relationships, they tear apart families, and they destroy unity. What's worse is that the root of the behaviors is the content of the individual's heart. What is stored up within, makes its way out, regardless of whether or not we want it to. We need to perform a flush on our heart to clean it out, filling it with everything that God has to offer. Your Heart Needs You.
All grace, All truth, All the time. We have to live a live that faces all sides of this equation. Without truth, grace isn’t really true and vice-versa. This really comes out in our relationships and how we go to God. We have to go to God and be prepared for rigorous honesty. It isn’t just about not doing bad things. It is about running to something Good instead of something bad.
Today is the first sermon in the Summer in Proverbs series. We jump right into Proverbs 1 and 2, where we quickly learn that if we seek Wisdom from God's Word, it can save us from the twisted words of evil beings. True to form, Pastor Jamey presents the truth without reservation by exposing a plan, by Alice Ann Bailey, to destroy Christianity. Although the evil plan was initiated in 1930, it is easy to see today that it has permeated our world. Listen as Pastor Jamey exposes the manipulation of the plan while using Proverbs to combat it.
Pastor Brent delivers the final sermon in the series Jesus Changes Everything.Your worth cannot be gained by the world we live in, but by the image we are created in. This is where our worth comes from.
This week we follow Jamey as he continues to go through the Jesus Changes Everything sermon series. We get a lot of really good challenges about how we should approach life as a Christ follower. Why don’t we walk like we are more than conquerors? We have an overwhelming victory over a life of sin available to us at all times. We just have to choose to walk in it. We need to stop forgetting who we are and remember whose we are.
Today's message begins in Luke 22, where we find Jesus eagerly looking forward to His final meal with His disciples. Surprisingly, Jesus wraps a towel around His waist, and begins to wash the disciples feet. He washes everyone's feet, including Judas, who He knows will soon hand Him over to be crucified. In total humility, Jesus served His disciples until the very end. In John 13, we are told that we too should wash one another's feet. In other words, Jesus is wanting us to be servants like Him. What? How can our life be transformed into a life like Christ? Paul summed it up best in Philippians 3 when he said that he wants to experience the power of the resurrection of Jesus through knowing Him. When we come to know Jesus as our savior, He transforms us into a new creation. He doesn't make us into a better version; he creates a whole NEW you. We cannot do it alone, and we certainly cannot do it in our own strength. We were made to depend on Jesus.
Perspective drives us. It strongly flavors the world around us, and when it is not aligned with reality, it drives us to false conclusions, incorrect responses and unnecessary hardships. Think of the last time that you thought something was true, then later realized that what you believed wasn't true. In your realization of truth, your perspective shifted. You began to see the situation through a new lens. You may have come to the realization that you responded inappropriately because of a false truth. Unfortunately, a common issue among believers is an incorrect perspective of God. We see Him in a light that is not accurate. We judge His responses according to an image that we conjured up on our own. Flawed expectations bring us to conclusions that aren't founded on truth. So how do we correct these invalid perspectives. Simply said, we do so through the Word of God. The Bible describes in detail, who God is. It has countless examples of Him interacting with humans like us, where we can gain understanding of who He is. If we ensure that we build our picture of God solely on the Word of God, we can't go wrong.
The bible describes the wilderness as a place of testing, a place where trials are endured. The wilderness is not a place that is known for sustaining life. The children of Israel were given the gift of life, the gift of salvation by living water from a stricken Rock. Jesus is that Rock, and He is still providing living water to all who thirst.
We’re all guilty of pointing out the failures of others while overlooking our own sin. But as Pastor Jamey explains in our newest sermon, self righteousness is a sin in itself. Fortunately we have a Savior we can look to that shows us both grace and compassion; but he also wants us to extend it to others as well. Join us for our fourth message in our new series “Jesus Changes Everything”.
We hear about forgiveness all the time when it comes to Christ’s teachings. What about repentance? Forgiveness is where it starts and it is critical to move to the next step. To take this a step further, we should be actively pushing one another to do better. Carrying both of these words out in our daily lives changes everything.
In today's message, we ease drop on conversations with Jesus in Luke 4 and Matthew 5. In the first passage Jesus is reading from Isaiah in His home town of Nazareth. The town folk are enjoying His reading and teaching. But the smiles turn to gnashing teeth as He tells them that the scriptures are fulfilled! With urgency, they switch from adoring Him to trying to shove Him off a nearby cliff. Jesus challenged their assumptions about God. In Matt 5, Jesus is talking with another group of people. He begins to challenge the status quo regarding offense and conflict. Most, like us, were dealing with conflict by avoiding the other person, and by talking to others (behind their back) about the treacherous acts that were committed against us. They/we wanted revenge and payment for the wrong doing, not conversation and forgiveness. Once again, Jesus challenges the established norm. He tells the group/us to quickly resolve conflict, to talk with the person, one-on-one, to try to resolve things. Only if we cannot resolve the conflict, should we include others to go with us to attempt to resolve the conflict. Once again, Jesus changes everything!
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”. It’s a familiar Bible verse - but what does it really mean? In our newest sermon series, “Jesus Changes Everything”, Pastor Jamey walks us through how Christ alone offers us spiritual freedom for all those who accept him as their Savior and abide in his word.
Who is your confidence in? If it's Jesus, you can "Rest Assured" He will walk with you and ahead of you through everything!
As Jamey ends the sermon series Life is a Journey, we follow Nehemiahs story in Nehemiah 6. The large takeaway boils down to this: It isn’t about how you start, it’s all about how you finish. At the same time, we really see a good example of healthy leadership. The question becomes not IF we fight, it’s about HOW we fight. Ensure your confidence remains in what Christ has done for you.
In this special Super Bowl Sunday message, Pastor Jamey continues through the book of Nehemiah. He is joined by Shaun, Drew, & Brent to discuss some of the facets of Christian teamwork and how we help grow each other through and with Christ. It's imperative that we as Christians come together, encourage each other, hold each other (and ourselves) accountable, and realize that God has so much more for us than we can possibly imagine.
Following Jesus is hard. Our faith walk requires us to live uncomfortably, denying ourselves and relinquishing control. With thousands of children in the Illinois foster care system, there is a great need for action. As followers of Christ, we may not all be called to bring a vulnerable child into our home, but we are all called to act. Nehemiah led the charge to rebuild Jerusalem’s wall as an act of obedience to what God called him to, but it also required commitment and sacrifice from the entire community to make it a reality. The call of the church is to be one community working together to make a positive impact one life at a time.
Life Happens. What are we to do when things are broken? In this sermon we look at our call as believers. We are to help reconcile and in that process point the reason we can. Our lives are constant arrows that point to Jesus Christ. When we truly understand our image and who we are in light of this, we can do incredible things!
This week we continue in the book of Nehemiah, following the building of the wall. In chapter 5, we see a common pattern from the enemy. When attacks from the outside don’t work, the enemy moves to attacking from the inside. As selfishness sweeps across the city, we see how a true leader responds in a time of division. He fosters in a culture of reconciliation.
How wonderful is it that we, as Christians, get to fulfill God's plan to communicate his story of redemption for those who don't know and are unaware. In today's message, Pastor Shaun discusses finding our purpose, not just in the church body, but God's will for us throughout our lives. Every one of us has the responsibility to both pray and act; to be both a worker and a warrior for the Lord. Are you ready to pick up your sword and shovel and get to work?
Often, our prayers are cries for help in desperate times. Maybe a car swerves into your lane, or a child is feverish in the middle of the night. God responds and meets us in our time of need. Other times, prayer is a Journey. We begin with a desire or a need that God places in our heart. We make the request known to God in prayer and continue in prayer and fasting for days, weeks, and sometimes months and years. In today's message, we see that as soon as Nehemiah becomes aware of the destroyed walls of Jerusalem, he immediately begins to weep and mourn. He fasts and prays, and continues to do so for four months. One day, while in the presence of the king, the king notices his sadness. He tells the king what is troubling him, and before he knows it, God answers his prayer. The king tasks him with rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. Like Nehemiah, we too should make our requests know to God, and continue to pray until God gives us peace in our heart or He graciously bring us to the answer of our prayer.
Fortification of who you are as a follower of Jesus begins with this declaration! A war is waging, and boundaries must be established so the enemy knows there is a line that must not be crossed. So much time is invested in building up our spiritual temples that we often leave the gates wide open. Just as in the time of Nehemiah the newly constructed temple stood without security, and was open to an enemy that comes to steal, kill and destroy.
Becoming a wall builder is not about seclusion, or keeping others out. It’s about the institution of letting the world know that you choose to seek first the kingdom. Our journey begins when we take a stand to answer God’s calling to overcome defeat, but the battle is not ours alone. God is for us and stands with us on the front line. It is the faithful that are both ready in labor and pursuant to this mission.
Imagine you are sitting in a field in the dark of the night. The sky is the darkest of dark and all that you hear is a gentle breeze and the bleating of sheep. Then suddenly, the sky comes alive with the brightest of lights and angels announcing the birth of your savior, Christ the Lord! This is the backdrop for our message today. Jesus came to bring Joy to ALL people. His Joy is complete and can sustain us throughout our lives. This doesn't mean we don't have to work at keeping it. The enemy, continually tries to steal our joy through resentment, bitterness, unforgiveness and disobedience. But we get to choose whether we keep our Joy or get distracted with what the enemy puts in our way. What will your choice be? Will you choose Joy?
As we begin our new series, we visit a cup bearer named Nehemiah in the year 445 B.C. Nehemiah gets word that Jerusalem is in ruins. The walls are torn down and the city gates are burned. Stricken with grief, Nehemiah mourns, fasts, and prays to God. God gave him a burden to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. As a cup bearer, Nehemiah wasn't primed for the task, but he was called by God for the task, and after 52 days, they finished rebuilding the walls in Jerusalem. Like Nehemiah, God also gives us burdens to do things. It might be a burden to start something that you've never done before. It might be a burden to stop something that you know is destroying your life. Regardless of what it is, it needs to be done....and the time is NOW!
Sin is ugly… and we’ve all been affected by it - both internally and externally. But there is good news! Sin holds no power over followers of Christ, for there is no condemnation for those who belong to Jesus. In week three of our 2021 Christmas series, Pastor Jamey expounds upon why Christ came… to offer salvation and give us freedom over sin!
When we read the Bible, we can see clearly that Salvation is available for everyone. Throughout the life of Christ, He continually demonstrated that He didn't have favorites. He loved people regardless of their physical condition. He healed people independent of their social status. As we read in Luke 2, even at the moment of His birth, He crossed the social divide to tell the world of His coming via some of the lowliest people of that time. The first Birth Announcement of the creator of the world was given first to Shepherds. He didn't announce the birth to royalty or the wealthy, but to a group of outcasts who were accustomed to downward looks from others in their society. Like the Shepherds, we may feel unworthy, unloved, or inadequate. We may feel that society looks down on us because of our past or even because of our present. But not God. He loves us and wants to use us. Just as God chose the Shepherds to announce the birth of our King, God chooses us. Jesus is coming, and He is coming for EVERYONE that wants Him and accepts His way to salvation.
Jesus didn’t come just FOR sinners, he came FROM sinners. This week Jamey kicks off the start of the Christmas season by talking about the origins of Jesus Christ. What you can learn from Jesus’ lineage lines up perfectly with how Jesus interacts with us. He wants to forever transform our lives! Our story of pain and sin must be faced honestly so we can let Jesus transform it. Let Jesus be the hero of your story!
Today, Pastor Jamey Bridges and Pastor Shaun Williamson concluded our 12-week journey through the Acts of the Apostles with the overall message, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. The Apostle Paul believed that a change in life happens when we give. As Christians, not only should we have a desire to give to those in need or to people we love without expecting something in return; but we should also do the same to unlikely recipients – those who may have hurt us. Loving someone who loves us offers no credit, while showing love to someone who has caused you pain offers great reward. Obviously, being kind to someone who does not show us the same, is impossible to do in our humanity and requires God’s strength working in and through us to achieve.
Jesus says to love our enemies and do good to those who hate you. There is no better time than now to allow God to work through you in digging up those deep roots of anger, separation, bitterness and greed. Do what it takes to get to the truth, and above all… Trust God.
Less of us and more of Christ... What does it look like to decrease so that God may increase? The Apostle Paul certainly knew. In today's sermon Pastor Jamey continues in the Book of Acts where we see the imprisonment of Paul and his response to the individuals who placed him there. In everything he did, Paul made the Lord his priority... even in prison and during unjust persecution. It's important to ask ourselves - are we letting secondary matters get in the way of a fuller relationship with Christ? As Christians, what and who are we making our priority right now? Let it be Jesus.
Today, we delve into Acts 22 & 23, where we continue in the Movement series. We pan across the account of Paul, where he is speaking before the Jewish Synagogue in Jerusalem. He is telling them the details of his story; the actual account of how God has led him from persecuting the church to becoming a promoter of the church to the Gentiles. He doesn't sugar coat it, but instead he shares the good and bad of his life, leading up to this moment. The Jewish leaders do not like what they hear, but they cannot debate it. It is his story! Likewise, you have your story; life experiences that happened to you. Your story cannot be debated, because it is your story. Even if your story sounds unbelievable, it cannot be debated because it is your story. God asks us to share our story, because he can use it to change people's lives. Are we willing to share our story?
As we continue in our Movement series, we dig into Acts 19-20, where Paul decides that he will be heading to Jerusalem. None of his friends want him to go because he and they know that this will lead him to prison and suffering. As much as they try to dissuade him, he insists on following God's leading to Jerusalem. Just as God had a plan for Paul, He has a plan for every believer. He is knocking on our doors, and we need to open the door to understand His plan for our lives. Once we open the door, we may discover that the plan may not be pleasant or that it might take us through rough times and suffering. We have to stay true to God's plan, regardless of where it leads us. God has a perfect plan, but He won't force us to follow it. We have to trust him and walk in faith to accomplish His plan for our lives.
In part eight of our series, Movement, Pastor Jodi continues in the Book of Acts. In today’s sermon we see how Paul made a habit of stopping at synagogues and other places of worship to share and proclaim name of Jesus. Every chance Paul got to deliver the Gospel to those who needed to hear it, he would spend time to reason with and convince those who would listen, both Jew and gentile.
What are your day to day habits that you have built into your life that God wants to use to reason, explain, and demonstrate who Jesus is and why he came?
As we continue in the Movement series, we read about how Paul and the disciples were regularly facing persecution. At one point, Paul is stoned and left to die because of preaching the gospel. It didn't stop him, but instead it fueled him to press on. He had focus, and because he had focus, he didn't give up in the face of persecution. Because he didn't give up, many of his listeners became disciples. Paul was focused on spreading the gospel, and this focus defined his perspective. We too have a perspective that is defined by our focus. The big question is, Where is Our Focus? Where we focus will determine what we do and how we respond to life around us.
In this message, guest speaker, Pastor Dobie Weasel, takes us through Acts chapters 12 and 13. Throughout the book of Acts, Luke documents the works of the Holy Spirit that were demonstrated through His people. These people of Prayer, of Word and of Spirit, were filled, led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Today, God continues to look for people of Prayer, Word and Spirit, to move in their hearts, their homes and their communities. He is looking for willing people to be a part of His Movement. Will you step up? Will you be a person of Prayer, Word & Spirit?
Imagine two chairs sitting side by side. You sit in one and in the other chair sits Jesus. He looks over to you, His friend, and says "You know how much I love you, and how I show you?" A smile comes across our face as we nod "Yes Lord, we know!". Then he adds, "That's how I want you to love others...doing this makes you my friend". Do we still have a smile on our face? Do we jump to the task? Do we only share the love with a select group? Do we nod and walk away, doing nothing?
God's love is for everyone, and He has decided to share it via You and Me. This message will challenge you to step up to the command from Jesus to show His love to others across the globe.

In the second part of our new series, “Movement,” Pastor Jamey walks us through the book of Acts and how spirit-filled boldness by ordinary men affected the early church and continues today. In Acts 4:13, we see Peter and John before the Sanhedrin; the council was amazed at the boldness of these men with no special training in the scriptures. They also recognized the two Apostles as those who had been with Jesus; as Christians, we must boldly strive to be recognized for the same.
Today is the first sermon in a new series where we discover the biggest Movement that the world has ever known. Join us in the first two chapters of Acts, where we see the Movement beginning with Jesus and His disciples. Although the Movement begins with Jesus, it continues with us, the Church. As we come to know Him, Jesus provides us the power necessary to fuel the Movement, via the Holy Spirit. Are you ready to join the Movement?
Today, we come to the final message in the Red Letter series. In Matthew 28, Jesus is talking with the disciples, giving them a commission to follow through the end of their lives. He commands them to go and make disciples of all the nations. Often times, we make this too difficult, when it is as simple as living out our lives with another group of believers. Are you being discipled? Are you discipling others?
As we begin to wind down the Red Letters summer series, we go to John 14 where Jesus defines the path to Life through Him. He tells us not to be troubled, but to instead, trust Him and accept His peace. It sounds so simple, yet we find it so hard to do? We have a tendency to worry about everything. We always seem to be in situations where we have allowed our joy to be stolen. Jesus didn't promise to eliminate our troublesome situations, but He did ask us to trust Him and to receive His peace. Will you trust Him? Will you experience His peace?
This week Pastor Jamey walks through John 8 and Matthew 18. As we follow Jesus spreading his ministry, we encounter, yet again, religious leaders attempting to trap Jesus; however, Jesus’ love will not be stopped. In this passage we learn how to handle conflict in the church and we learn a pattern of how to use it to build relationships and build up people. What we end up seeing, is that the sin becomes less important and our response to the forgiveness, given to us, is what truly matters.
Today's focus is on two of Jesus's disciples, James and John, the Sons of Zebedee (a.k.a. the
Sons of Thunder). We start, in Luke 9:51 - 56, when Jesus, James and John are preparing to head to a Samaritan village. The local villagers did not welcome Jesus and in response, James and John want to call fire down from heaven on the Samaritan village. Jesus rebukes them and they head to another town. Do we have a similar response when things don't go our way? Do we look for immediate recourse when wronged? As the timeline continues, we see a transformation of this passionate Son of Thunder, John, where he soon becomes known as the Apostle of Love. John experiences the transforming power of Christ, as he experiences the Love of God. You too can experience this transforming power if you allow it to work in you.
Today we are joined by a special guest, Billy Willis. Billy and his wife, Katy, are missionaries with Youth Alive Illinois. Did you know that our average human life span is 72.5 years. By the time most kids start high school, 20% of their life is already spent. Psalm 90:12 says Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. Life is short and an extremely valuable gift from God. God gives us the ability to live it however we want. Will we invest this amazing gift or will we waste it? Hopefully, we will invest it, in the only two things that matter into eternity...knowing Jesus and making Him known.
In this message of the Red Letter series, we delve into a sermon that Jesus is delivering from a hill in northern Israel. We look at Matthew 5, where He is defining a series of eight blessings, commonly referred to as the Beatitudes. For most of us, the Good Life would be defined as: life on a beach, no debt, living happily ever after. Jesus's definition is quite a bit different. He calls us to be poor in spirit so that we will realize our need for Him...to mourn over our sin, and to demonstrate humility. By His definition, we are blessed when we hunger and thirst for justice and when we are merciful with pure hearts, working for peace. To top it off, Jesus tells us to be happy when persecuted, lied about and mocked for doing right. Jesus's definition of the Good Life is easy to say, but oh so hard to do...UNLESS we rely on His strength. Thanks be to God that we can live out Jesus's definition of a Good Life by applying Phil 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
In today's message, we continue the Red Letters Series, returning to the story of the Prodigal Son. This time, we shift the focus from the prodigal son, to his brother, in Luke 15:25-32. When the prodigal son returns, his brother is angry at how his father unconditionally accepts the wayward son. In his response to his father, he recounts the many things that he had done to earn his father's love and acceptance. Little did he know that his father's love was not something that he had to earn. His love was unconditional for him just as it was for his brother. Similarly, God's love and salvation are readily available to each of us, if we will accept it. Will you accept this free gift of salvation?
During week nine of our Red Letter Series, we return to the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:20-24. This time, we bring focus to the wayward son's return to his father. In the distance, his father sees him and immediately runs to embrace and kiss him. He doesn't pepper him with questions, nor does he demand restitution. Instead, he calls for a robe, a ring, and some sandals to re-establish his place in the family. God treats us the same way. He doesn't care where we have been or what we have done. When we turn to Him, He immediately embraces us and welcomes us as sons and daughters. So, what's stopping you...run to your Father!
In week 8 of the Red Letter series, we find ourselves in Luke 15:11-20, where Jesus is telling the story of the Prodigal Son. We focus on a young man, sitting in a pigsty, longing to eat what he is feeding the pigs. At that moment he realizes that there is a much better life available, if he will return to his father. Likewise, we may find ourselves in the middle of a pigsty...a muddy mess that we've made out of our lives. We may find ourselves longing for a better life, and realizing that if we return to our Heavenly Father, we can have that life. The question is, will we get up, humble ourselves, and head out to our Father?
Today, in week 7 of our Red Letter series, our Top Two Pastors zoom into a conversation between Jesus and his twelve disciples in Mark 6:6-13. In the conversation, he instructs the disciples to go out, two by two, telling everyone to repent of their sins and to turn to God. Jesus sends them out with His authority. He doesn't require them to get things in order or straightened out before they go. He only asks that they GO! Fast forward to today...Jesus is telling us the same thing. "It's Time To GO!" No matter where we are, if we are a disciple of Christ, He wants us to link arms with other believers and to go into our world and tell others about Him. Are we ready?
Red Letter Series
As we continue to look at the words of Jesus, we bring the spotlight to John 5:1-15, where Jesus seeks out a man who has been unable to walk for 38 years. Jesus asks the man, "Do you want to be healed?". As the man provides Jesus with excuses as to why he hasn't been healed, Jesus says "Get up, take up your bed, and walk." With these words, instant healing and transformation comes to this man.
Jesus continues to ask us today, "Do you want to be healed?". Are we going to continue to believe in the superstitions of our culture, or are we going to take up our bed, and walk?
