Dr. Adams has received numerous awards, including a mayor’s award, for his efforts and positive impact on communities. In 2018 Dr. Adams fought off fierce competition to receive the Susan de Mont Legacy Award’s top prize, from Sean Wallace of the Chase. The prize was for Excellence in supporting Women and Families within the local community and nationally, in which Dr. Adams worked alongside single mums and their sons, as a father figure.

During the last 40 years, Mitch has trained healthcare and mental health professionals around the United States in the compassionate care of those facing loss. This presentation titled "Responding to the Bereaved: Breaking the Myth" has been given in a wide range of clinical and academic settings. His research into communications with the bereaved has been requested by departments of psychiatry around the world. Mr. Davidowitz has been an invited speaker most every year since 1987 for the National Association of Social Workers Annual Nursing Home Conferences in Massachusetts. He has been an invited speaker at the annual conferences of the National Hospice Organization and the National Association of Social Workers. A former Bereavement Coordinator of a Mass. Hospice, Mitch has appeared on radio and television to provide education about the challenges that mourners and those supporting them experience.

He is currently in private practice outside of Boston, Massachusetts seeing clients with a wide range of issues. His approach is diverse and deeply informed by his mindfulness training.

In addition to his extensive clinical background, Mitch has trained intensively in mindfulness practice since 1974. His primary teachers are Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein and Sharon Salzberg. He has also studied extensively with Ram Dass and Stephen Levine. In the 70's and early 80's, Mitch taught meditation classes in Florida and Massachusetts.
