The core thing it really taught me was about philanthropy and community giving and I filled the proud stereotype of young women baking and fundraising at shows (something I think we should be proud of!!). This actually kickstarted a career in fundraising for me and after 10 years in the fundraising industry, I am now a fundraising manager for a national organisation, and about to sit my international certification exam. I’m happily married and settled down with my husband and dog pickle, 2 chooks and 2 fish on a property in the Adelaide hills and consider myself a pretty cool step mama for my husbands beautiful daughter.
