Our purpose as a church is, simply, to "Walk intimately with God and to Invite others to journey with us".
"You have created us for yourself, O God, and our heart is restless until it rests in you." We are made to be with God, and to spend time with him is the most important thing we can do. Jesus pulled away from the crowds all the time to spend time in solitude with his Father - if it was important to him, it should probably be important to us!
Jesus gave up everything to become a servant for us, and as we follow him we give up our lives to serve others.
God has given us his word that we can hear him and know him. As we read scripture we get to experience the presence and the voice of God!
The last thing Jesus said and the first thing the Holy Spirit inspired the church to do was to have us tell others of the glory of God! An important part of growing in relationship with Jesus is learning to tell his story.
Prayer is one of the most incredible gifts that God has given to us - we can just talk to him, and he talks to us! Let us walk together as people of prayer.
What does it look like to get to know God? How do we do that? He has given us tools and practices that can help us to know him, and as we walk in these Spiritual Disciplines, we will come to know who God is!
This week we wrapped up our theme for the year, looking back on the journey God has led us through as we seek to know what it means to be Spiritual People who live and walk as God created us to do!
What happens when the church wants to follow Jesus and make disciples, but we don't agree on how to do that? How do we walk in differences of understanding together in peace and unity?
The early church faced big questions and big decisions, and they walked prayerfully and humbly together figuring out what it means to be the church and follow God!
We see exciting things happening when God moves in people and through his church, but we can never lose sight of the fact that the work is his not ours!
As the church grew we needed to figure out how to do different jobs together, and we began to see the Spirit filling people to fill different roles in the church!
The Holy Spirit is here in us and we get to live in the same legacy as those believers in the room at Pentecost!
Jesus doesn't save us just to stand still, he calls us to follow - to move and to act! The early church shows us what it means to step into mission with purpose!
Peter experiences the forgiveness of Jesus and an invitation into mission despite his failures! Jesus has a purpose for all of us in his Kingdom.
God taught the Israelites how to be his people, and Jesus came to show us the way, and now, he sends us out in the world too!

What does it mean to have faith? In the story of the Centurion's faith we see Jesus amazed at the greateness of this man's faith, giving us an example to follow for our own walk with Christ!

We love because he first loved us. God is love, and we can only understand love in relationship with him!
As disciples one of the hardest lessons for us to learn is to wait on God. God's plans are not our plans, and his ways are higher than our ways, and we must learn to trust and to wait as he leads us.
The story of Israel is a story of struggle and failure, even as God did amazing things all around and through them. As we walk with God we will struggle and fail, but God is gracious and wants so much more for us!

In ancient days people saw their gods as local and limited, but the God of Israel revealed to them that he was always with them, wherever they were, and whatever they were going through. A disciple is one who knows that God is always with us!
Walking with God fills our lives with all kinds of wonderful blessings and gifts, and he calls us to be a part of the work he is doing in amazing and important ways. But a disciple understands that while God calls us and cares for us, we are not the point, he is!
A disciple knows who it is that we are worshipping, and responds to the lavish promises and provision of God with lavish generosity and freedom!
God's mind and ways are far beyond what we can know or understand, but at the same time he is not unknowable. As disciples he means for us to know him and walk with him, and he has given us his law and his word that we can know his heart and his mind and how he means us to live!
A disciple is one who knows the provision of God, but the provision of God is not everything we want all the time so that we never have to rely on him again. God provides enough that we can walk with him one day at a time.
Following God can be scary and even dangerous, but a disciple is a person who knows the power of God, and knows that he can protect and provide no matter what he calls us into.
This week we step into our new theme for the year, "The Mind of a Disciple". We're going to exlore what discipleship looks like, what it means, and what God means to do in us. Join us as we begin our journey together!
The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. The Word embodied in Jesus and given to us in the scriptures. It is truth and life, and speaks hope into the world!
God has given us tools to protect us and prepare us, and the faith that he provides is a shield that keeps the attacks of the enemy at bay!
God provides us his armour not so that we can hide, but so that we can carry his gospel of hope and life out into the world to the people who need to hear it!
God provides us the righteousness of his own son as our protection. It's not something we can earn or gain for ourselves, but a wonderful gift from him!
Paul tells us that the first piece of the armour that God has given to us is the Belt of Truth. But what is that truth? How do we define it? And what does it mean for us as we seek to walk with God?
God has given us the tools, but we have to put them on and use them. Are we building our lives in a way that honors God?
The Armour of God is a powerful tool given to protect and equip us for the good work that God has prepared for us!
God has spoken to us, given us his word, that we can know relationship with our creator. Is there any greater gift we can have?
In light of the incredible things that Peter reveals to us, he then asks us, how then should we live? If Jesus really is who he says he is, and if his promises are really true, then that has to change everything!
As we have our Annual General Meeting this week, we hear the words of Peter calling forward to us and the things he sees facing the church.
We must know the word so that we can discern good and faithful teaching. We must stand firmly on the truth of Jesus!
The Apostle Peter knew his life was coming to an end, and he wrote a letter to the church telling us these final things. Let us hear and obey the words that the Spirit has given us through him.
Leadership in God's Kingdom is a race to the bottom, not to the top. Who can serve most? Who can love most? Who can care most?
When God brings his word to life within us, we are transformed - our appetites, our behaviours, our purpose are all made new as we live in submission to his will and his ways!
The Word Alive in Us should lead us to surrender and trust, knowing our heavenly Father is in control!
When the Word is alive in each of us, we are drawn together to become the body of Christ, his church, walking and living in his power together!

Jesus taught us all about life and walking with God, and at the end he taught us what to do with all of that - to take his teaching, and teach others. Go make disciples!

The call of Jesus isn't to deny the world, it's to deny ourselves. We don't want to follow the patterns of the world, but Jesus is inviting us to see that the problem isn't all around us, it's in us too.

Jesus told us how to live, how to worship, and he finished his sermon on the mount with how to follow. He has grand promises and serious warnings for us on this journey, but he promises he will walk with us all the way through it!
So much of our efforts to worship wind up focused on ourselves and what other people think, but Jesus is calling us to look up and see our Father!
Jesus calls us to do something harder than anything else - love our enemies. The people who are hurting us, the people who make our lives miserable, the people who hurt the people we love. How can we do that? We need Jesus!
Jesus has taught us how to live, and what life in his kingdom is supposed to look like. We are called to something far deeper than just acting nice!
If we are living in the kingdom, that kingdom should be shining through us and bringing light and salt to the people around us!
What did Jesus tell us about his kingdom? What did he tell us about life and worship and relationship? Join us as we begin our study of the things Jesus said to us, and what he means for us to do about it!
Jesus is the resurrection and the life, and he has power over death and all of creation. We have nothing to fear if we believe in him!
Jesus doesn't point toward the way, he doesn't tell us about the truth, and he doesn't describe life. He IS these things, and he is inviting us to know them in him.
The Word was made flesh, and he told us that he is the very thing that sustains and feeds us. He is the bread of life, and is everything we need to live!
Jesus is the Gate and the Good Shepherd. He is the way and he is the guide, and he came to lead us home!
As we explore the word this year, we come to the season of advent and confront the reality that the word is not a book but a person, and that person has told us what he is. Jesus is the Word made Flesh, and he has come to reveal his Father to us!
The power of prophecy is not the telling of the future, but God calling us back to relationship. He wants us to trust him, to know that he is in control, and that he desires that we would live in relationship with him!
Walking through hardship and suffering is incredibly difficult for us to do, and we can even often feel like we're failing because as followers of Jesus shouldn't we be filled with joy all the time? God has filled his word with lament to show us that he hears our cries, and that our hurts are not failure but part of relationship.
This morning we got to celebrate baptism with some of our young people, worshipping with them as they took this step of discipleship and faith. God is good, and his Spirit is moving!
God has given us his word for all kinds of reasons - to tell us about himself, what he has done, how we should live, how we should understand the world. But he has also given us is word simply that we can worship him! He has provided us the words and the direction to understand what it means to worship, and to live in a way that brings him glory.
God has given us his law in creation, and revealed his law in his word. He has written out his will and purpose for us, and as we live in alignment with his will, we will find life!
God has determined how things are meant to work, and has laid the foundations of his law in the foundations of creation itself!
The history of God reveals how he has walked with and worked through broken people, just like us, to accomplish his will and purposes.
Part of the story God has given us is revealing his power over the things of this world and the things in our lives. God records history to help us see that he is in control and to help us to trust him.
God wants to reveal himself in his word, and as we read his story, we must listen to see what he is trying to tell us about who he is!
This morning we got to hear from our team that went to Mexico this summer. God is moving in amazing ways, and it is such a joy to be a part of what he is doing here and all around the world!
We're stepping into a new year and a new theme - we're going to be exploring the Word and everything that it means for us. The power, the beauty, the authrity, the purpose of the Word, and how God desires us to grow with him as he speaks to us!
It is for freedom that we have been set free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery!
Pride caused Satan himself to fall, and our pride holds us back from enjoying the fulness of life we have been created for. Only in humility and submission will we find fulfillment!
The Bible talks about God's wrath, but our wrath is not the same as his, and we must trust him and bring glory to him in peace and love to others.
Envy is a subtle and powerful thing that can poison so many things in our lives. But we serve a God of overabundance and amazing promises, and if we truly believe what he has said there's no room for envy in our hearts!
God created physical relationships as a beautiful expression of his very nature of unity and relationship, and he wants us to live in that truth!
Where do we find fulfillmnet? Where do we find restoration and encouragement? Do we seek the presence of God? Or do we seek to fill ourselves with the things the world has to offer? God has created us for himself, and we will not find wholeness until we rest in him!
Do we believe that God is enough? Or do we have to take care of ourselves, to hold on to as big a pile of money as we can? God desires that we trust in his abundance, and to know that he will provide.
Pastor Scott continues to set the stage for our exploration of the power of the gospel over the hurt of sin in our lives.

Forgiving is one of the most important things we can do. If we want to understand the forgiveness that Jesus offers to us, we have to extend that forgiveness to others.
God is leading us forward, and he is preparing us even as he is calling us. Are we stepping in to mission with the readiness of the presence of Jesus?

Correcting is a dangerous part of following Jesus, but it's something that is important and that God has called us to do! Holding each other accountable is an important part of following Jesus!
Sharing the presence of Jesus means that we need to be growing in our knowledge and understanding of him. As we are made more and more like him, we can show others who he is!
Tithing is an act of radical submission and trust. God calls us to give not because he needs our resources but because we need him!
Jesus has given us both a gift and a command to care for others, and as we do we get to experience who he is!
Listening is a critical part of relationship, and connects us to the heart of God, allowing us to bring out his image in others!
Following Jesus is about what we do, but building the kingdom is also about what we say! People need to hear the good news, and while our life needs to reflect who Jesus is, we have to tell people too!
Servanthood is the very nature of Jesus, and he is inviting us to understand who he is as we serve others in his name.
Jesus died for our sins, but he rose again to new life, conquering sin and death forever, and setting us free! We can live forever with him!
Jesus died to pay the price for our sin, and his sacrifice has given us freedom and hope.
The Triumphal Entry was the inauguration of Jesus. The King is here, and his Kingdom is real!
Stephen saw God's presence in life and in death, and God was faithful to lead him home.
Our God is so gracious and loving, but he is perfect and holy too and he cannot abide our sin. When we fail to see our sin like he does, we miss out on the life he is inviting us to enjoy!
Jesus is who he says he is all the time - whether we feel like it or can see what he is doing, he never changes and is always enough, because he is God!
Jesus lived his life in the power of the presence of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to embrace the same!
Do we trust that God will provide? That his presence is always with us and that he sees our hurts and our needs? And are we ready to listen and respond if he reveals to us what to do?
Do we see what God is doing around us? Do we understand that the Kingdom of Heaven is near, as Jesus told us? This week we explore the story of Elisha and his servant being surrounded and protected by the presence of God, and our need to see and believe that God is present in our lives too.
Even after he had seen a miracle, King Nebuchadnezzar did not submit to God. But God humbled him, and the power of his presence transformed Nebuchadnezzar's heart and brought him into relationship with his creator.
The world has never stopped building it's tower to the heavens, but we have nothing to fear because God is always in complete control!
When God moves, he cannot be stopped. When he desires to speak to us, he will use whatever means he needs to in order to help us see and hear what he desires us to know.
What were we created to experience? The presence of God is the foundation of our life, but how were we meant to know him?
What do we have to offer the world? How are we different? The power of the presence of God is the thing that makes difference in the lives of people, and that is what we bring.
As we step into the new year, Pastor Scott reminds us of the power of the gospel and the desire God has for us to step deeply into relationship with him.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace, come to bring us Peace with God, Peace with one another, and Peace within ourselves.
As we continue our journey through the advent season, we come to the promise that Jesus will be our Everlasting Father. The Bible describes the depth of the Father heart of God, and we need to understand how he loves us and cares for us, protects us and provides for us.
Jesus was born as a baby, lived as a human, shared love and compassion and was kind and gentle. But we can never lose sight of the fact that he is Almighty God, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Alpha and the Omega, and he is holy.
Jesus knows us, knows our need, and has come to teach us how we are meant to live and what we were meant for. He has given us instruction, and speaks to us his love and encouragement and correction.
While in this passage we learn about each of these fruit, Jesus is all of them and he is what we truly need. As we dig into relationship with him we will find all of these things and he will make them real in us.
Paul ends the list of the Fruit of the Spirit with Self-Control, which is far more than a call to temperance or caution, but is a call to submission and faith that these fruit are not the fruit of our best efforts, but are gifts from God by his Spirit in us!
God has been so gentle with us, not treating us as our sins deserve and restoring us when we were unworthy, and he is inviting us to share that gentleness with the broken and hurting people around us too.
Faithfulness is one of the fruits that the Spirit desires to build in us in response to who God is. God is faithful, and we can be faithful because we can trust him!
Pursuing Goodness means leaving behind our old lives and desires and pushing after the things that God desires for us. Our choices and behaviour matter, and God desires for us to live in holiness and righteousness!
Love is patient, and love is kind. As we seek to bring the presence of Jesus into the world around us, kindness is one of the simplest and most powerful ways that we can do just that.
Patience might be the most difficult fruit of the Spirit to live out, because the times we need it are the times we don't have it. But God is patient with us too, and as we live with him we will learn his patience and offer it to others.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and he offers us a peace that is beyond our understanding. We can know peace when we know him!
As followers of Jesus we are called to bring the Joy found in God into the lives of the people around us. Joy is knowing God and trusting in his promises and grace, and the confidence we can have that he is in control!

God is calling us to be a spiritual presence in the lives of the people around us, drawing their attention to him and the hope we have in his grace. We bring his presence into their lives as we bear the fruit of the Spirit, and the first of those fruits is love - God's love for us shared with them!

God desires to lead and guide us in our lives, and has a plan and a purpose for us. As we follow Him, we must pray for his leading and trust in his Spirit to speak to us through his word, his people, and in our hearts.

We have so much to be thankful for, and nothing more than the fact that we have a God who loves us and has saved us!
God calls us to pray for our enemies, to see them as broken people too, and to understand that our true enemy is not the people around us, but the spiritual reality that opposes us all.
God calls us to pray for our community, and to proclaim his greatness among the people around us. Our world needs Jesus, and he is inviting us to share the good news with them!
An important part of our prayer life is confessing our sins to our gracious and forgiving heavenly father. We need to acknowledge our failings and allow him to bring healing and life!
One of the most important things we can pray is simply expressing worship and praise to our creator and our God. When we put God in his proper place and declare truths about him, so many other prayers are answered as we find ourselves in our proper place too!
Our God heals! Our sin has broken the world, but our God redeems and restores and is working in and all around us to bring healing and hope and life. And so we pray and we trust that God will move according to his will!
God wants us to know him more, and he wants to tell us! He is inviting us to pray and seek him, and allow him to reveal himself to us.
God invites us to experience who he is in prayer, and the beginning of that journey is accepting his grace and forgiveness!
This week we begin our new series for the summer exploring prayer, and Pastor Scott leads us off walking through how God taught us to pray with the Lord's Prayer.
As we come to the end of our ministry year, James has some powerful reminders for us of God's plan and direction. Jesus is coming back, and that changes everything!
God is calling us to walk together in unity and confidence. He wants us to pray hard and to pursue him as he moves forward building his kingdom in the world!
Our words hold incredible power, and God made it that way. We can use our words to build and destroy, and if our hearts are not transformed, we will not speak life!
Our new life in Jesus has to look different, and the things we do has to look different! We are saved by grace alone, but our works need to match our relationship with Jesus.
Our lives are filled with people, and if we want to be followers of Jesus, we need to see those people with the same eyes and the same love that he does!
If we're going to be followers of Jesus, we have to actually FOLLOW him! He is moving, and as we are transformed our lives have to change too.
As we step into the new life offered by Jesus, we look to the book of James and the practical words he gives us to challenge and encourage us as we explore what it means to be transformed!
As we close out our series studying The Gospel, we are blessed to be able to hear from Lyndell Campbell-Requia, one of the missionaries we support. Lyndell is a professor at a seminary in Brazil and brings us a word of encouragement and challenge about how she sees Jesus at work in her world!
Jesus forgives Peter and invites him to move forward. God doesn't want us to stay where we are but invites us to follow him as he leads us into new life.

Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. We were never made to find life outside of him, and he promises us greater things than we can imagine!

Jesus heals the man born blind, and while the leaders try to discredit who Jesus is, they cannot deny what he has done for this man.
Jesus is the light of the world, and he has invited us to reflect that to the people in our lives too!
Jesus provided for their physical needs, and they wanted to make him their earthly king. But when he told them what he truly came to do for them, they all deserted him. Do we wand Jesus to be just what we wish he would be? Or do we allow Jesus to reveal to us who he truly is?
Jesus healed the man at the pool of Bethesda revealing his power was greater than our worldly superstitions and the rules that we create.
The woman at the well show us what it means to tell people about Jesus. It's not about what we know, it's about what he's done for us, and what he can do for them. We just need to point to him!
The gospel is our identity in Jesus, being transformed in his image by the love and grace of our God!
As we explore the Gospel, we come to John 2 and see the ways that Jesus was revealing the presence of God to the people around him. As we strive to be people of the Gospel, this is what God is inviting us to do as well!
We are stepping into a new series exploring the Gospel - what is it? what does it do? how do we live as people of the gospel? We'll be walking through the gospel of John and exploring how Jesus lived and spoke the gospel to the people around him.
Jesus was born to show us God's love and plan, to reveal to us his Father and remind us of what we had been created to be, but ultimately he was born to die for our sins to save us.
Jesus did not just come to be born and to die, but to live for us, and God prophesied what his life would look like, so that we would know and understand what Jesus means for us.
God foretold all kinds of details about how and where Jesus would be born, to help us to know him when he came, and to help us to trust that God's words are true.
God gave the Israelites the Temple that they could connect with him and offer their sacrifices, but God was always looking ahead to the one who would truly bring us life.

Are we following God? Or are we asking God to follow us? We must never lose sight of who is leading!
Moses would spend time in the presence of God and it had such an impact on him that others were overwhelmed. Do we reflect God to others in that way?
God is always with us and is working around and in us no matter what is happening in our lives.
God is relationship in his very nature, and we are called as believers to reflect him as we gather and serve and lead together!
God was revealing himself to his people more and more, and he helped Jacob to see that he was present in far greater ways than we understood.
Abraham heard God's voice and obeyed. God called him to leave his home and his family, to go somewhere he didn't know, and believe that even in his old age he would have a child. And he obeyed.
God is Holy and Just, but he is merciful and loving too. And he is always working to restore.
We are made in God's image, and while sin has tainted that image, God still sees what he created.
God created you with incredible care and attention, and knows you better than you know yourself, and he loves you more than anything!
God's power and presence, his love and his care is displayed all through creation and through his word.
God has promised you that you have a purpose and a mission. He has invited you to be a part of what he is doing, and to experience life with him!
God sees us as so much more than slaves or servants, we are his children and heirs to his kingdom!
God does not want us to come with shame and fear, but he invites us into real relationship as friends and as his own children.
God does not want to leave you as you are, he wants you to be transformed and made holy, just as he is!

Jesus is alive, and that changes everything! He is inviting you into new life, and if you'll just believe, he will give you life more abundant than you can imagine.
Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. This week we celebrate the coming of the messiah as the crowds worshipped and praised him on the way into Jerusalem. A week later their hearts had changed but in this moment they saw him for what he truly was!
Jesus is the good shepherd who protects us and provides for us, and lays down his own life for us.
The Word is what we need, and it's all we need. It's the Spirit of God working in our hearts that brings change, not miracles or big emotional moments. God is working and we need to respond to him!
The Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, starting from one of the smallest seeds and growing into a mighty tree that brings fruit and shade and rest.
