In this week's episode of LITE It Up, Dr. Aginah takes her own advice and practices what others may consider to be a radical form of self-care! Traveling is one of the most enlightening and fun forms of self-care. Whether it means traveling with a friend, significant other, or going alone, travel has numerous psychological and emotional benefits. While solo travel isn't everyone's cup of tea--it may be just what the doctor ordered...Solo travel is a completely different level of self-care! Check out Dr. Aginah's tips for traveling solo and the reasons you should buy that plane ticket.
💫 You'll learn what you’re made of…in good way.
💫 Your strength and resilience is a result of peace rather than hardship.
💫 If you're an introvert, the experience of peace and anonymity can be blissful.
💫 It’s a source of pride to map out your own course. You have the freedom to move about as you choose; figuring things out as you go; and trusting that you can handle yourself.
💫 Solo travel might even raise your standards.
💫 Solo travel is not contingent on relationship status. But if you’re single (and even if you’re not) it can cause an expectation adjustment.
💫 You could make lifelong connections. When we are alone we tend to open ourselves up to the people and places around us.

I can't stress enough, the importance of implementing self-care into our daily lives. As a woman wearing multiple hats, it's often difficult to actually stop to carve out time for myself. The last year or so has been an absolute struggle but I continue to remind myself of the importance of implementing self-care into my life. I know that if I am struggling, then someone else is struggling with this as well.
This week, I decided to go back to the vault and pull out some of the tools that can help all of us take the necessary steps to focus on self-care and preservation. This week's episode is a replay of an interview with Dr. Robyn L. Gobin, licensed clinical psychologist, associate professor and author. Dr. Gobin discusses her book, The Self-Care Prescription and shares insightful information about recognizing the signs of depression and anxiety; as well as helpful tips for managing self-care during a crisis. Dr. Gobin recently released the Self-Care Prescription Journal, a companion to the Self-Care Prescription book.

In this week's episode of Lite It Up, Dr. Aginah Musherah gives an update on implementing the seven tips shared from last week's episode of managing stress. As a self-proclaimed workaholic, finding time to rest or prioritize self, is often a struggle. Last week, Dr. Aginah managed to incorporate two tips into her routine: #2 Regular exercise (three days during the week) and #3 Rest. After experiencing a week filled with pain due to a medical issue, Dr. Aginah had to finally sit down and rest. The light bulb finally went off that self-preservation is key. The goal for the upcoming week is to implement the other tips into the day-to-day routine.
In addition to incorporating the tips for self-preservation, Dr. Aginah also faced another area of growth by learning how to parent from the sidelines. Parenting is the most important job you'll ever have. We have to teach our children everything we can. While we teach our children, we have to also learn how to let go and trust in the fact that we have prepared our children well. It's hard...but you can do it. Here are a few tips to focus on as you begin to parent from the sidelines while giving your children an opportunity to incorporate what you've taught them over the years:
Encourage your child/teen.
Stay positive.
Maintain open communication.
Let them do their thing.

Slow down.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Get a support system.

LITE It Up is available on Mondays during the month of March in honor of Women's History Month. Dr. Aginah Musherah shares a quote, word of inspiration or mantra to help you start your week on the right track. There are power in our words; and our words help to enhance our mindset. Mindful Monday is a chance to give yourself another way to renew, recharge and rejuvenate.
You can replay this bonus episode or simply repeat the quote (or mantra) out loud or quietly to yourself, as often as you like; although I recommend reciting it three times. This week's bonus episode is dedicated to the importance of honoring who you are -- #IAm.
I Am, are two of the most powerful words you can say. What you put after them shapes your reality. These two words are used to define who you are and what you are capable of. These words tell you how to feel in your body and your mind. I Am is an expression of the highest aspect of yourself.
I challenge you to pay attention not only to your words but your thoughts as well. Each time you use the words “I Am” you are instructing yourself to think, believe, and feel a certain way. You are the only one who gets to decide on the word that comes next, after you declare I Am. You must believe what you tell yourself.
You can repeat the "I Am" affirmations as many times are you like. You can also add more based upon your choosing and your desire to manifest it into reality.
"There is enough power in the universe, to have everything I’ve ever wanted. I am whole. I am worthy. I am made for greatness. My time is now. It’s time to raise my standards. It’s time to go bigger." Today's affirmation shall serve as an important reminder that we are more than enough and we are more than capable of manifesting our reality as we evolve in our journey.

This week's bonus episode is in honor of International Women's Day #ChooseToChallenge.
"Be strong enough to stand alone. Smart enough to know when you need help. And brave enough to ask for it". -- Author Unknown "Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping-stone to greatness". -- Oprah Winfrey
These quotes are serve as an important reminder that we are always evolving in our journey as women. It is also a reminder that it is okay to ask for assistance. It is also okay to expect defeat but it is imperative that you bounce back and keep working to achieve success. Continue to navigate your journey with courage, faith and strength. You are resilient... Whatever comes your way, "You've Got This!"

Women's empowerment is defined and broken down into five categories: social, educational, economic, political and psychological. Dr. Aginah provides an in-depth analysis as to why the empowerment of women is critical to our overall progress. The empowerment of women does not diminish other genders. It's quite the contrary. “I am healthy”; I am strong; I am open to receiving abundance in all forms. I am grateful for all that is unfolding in my life and all that is yet to come. Things are always working out in my favor.”
This mantra is important because it serves as a reminder that things always have a way of working out, even if they don’t always go as expected. If you are feeling uncertain or stressed about a decision or upcoming event, recite these words. You will be reminded that no matter what, everything is going to be okay and there are solutions for whatever problems come your way. Reciting these powerful words also helps to reprogram your mind so that you can see the positive aspects of life. Choosing to see the world in a positive light can increase your feelings of motivation and joy, which can allow you to live life to the fullest. Even if things don’t appear to be working out in your favor at first, reciting this mantra can help you to see things from different points of view. This then allows you to see the benefits in all situations that come your way. Life rarely goes according to plan, but it does help to know that things are always working out in your favor, as long as you believe that they are.

In this week's episode of Lite It Up, Dr. Aginah Musherah focuses on the importance of speaking life and expressing gratitude. It’s safe to say that all of us have heard that our words are powerful. Our words can bring Life or Death. Our words can build someone up or tear someone down. Our words are powerful beyond measure! The fact that our words have power is the very reason why it is so important to speak life into others, as well as yourself. We can also speak life into others and ourselves by expressing gratitude. An expression of gratitude each day, is necessary to live a life of peace and an abundance of all of the good things that life has to offer us.
This episode is dedicated to my friend of 27 years who recently passed away. The life that she chose to live is a reminder that we should express gratitude in all things as long as we are blessed to live life each day.
Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."
Holy Qur'an 2:263 “A Kind word with forgiveness is better than almsgiving followed by injury.”
Seven Ways to Speak Life and Express Gratitude
Begin and end your day with gratitude.
Express gratitude to yourself.
Practice affirmations of gratitude.
Make a gratitude box.
Compliment others.
Make a habit of saying thank you.
Celebrate the moment.
Speak life into others, as well as yourself, and you can achieve the impossible. Speak life over every situation. Speak Life. Live Life. Love Life. Forever.

In this week's episode of Lite It Up, Dr. Aginah has an in-depth conversation with Khalilah Starks Adams about the power of manifesting and the Law of Attraction (LOA). Khalilah has a deep understanding of the law of attraction and energy; and was gracious enough to share what she knows with the audience. Khalilah has also decided to share what she knows with the world through her platform High Powered Love.
Khalilah explains that the law of attraction is one of the 12 universal laws that states, "like attracts like". Many people talk about manifestation and the benefits to one's life. From a scientific perspective, everything is energy and constantly vibrating. Everyone attracts experiences according to their own energy or vibration. In order for you to achieve the experiences that you want in life, you must vibrate on the same frequency as those experiences. Positive vibes will attract positive experiences and negative vibes will attract negative experiences.
Take this one-hour journey as Khalilah introduces the Lite It Up Podcast audience to the power of manifesting and the Law of Attraction.

In the first episode of Season 2, Dr. Aginah Musherah shares the five Rs for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in 2021 and beyond! Often times, we become consumed with the finished product of one's success that we don't consider the challenges that an individual must overcome to actually achieve success. Dr. Aginah reminds listeners of the importance of shifting their thinking in order to achieve real success. It's also important to incorporate the practice of the 5 Rs into your life to realize the true meaning of success.
This year, channel your energy in a positive direction by incorporating the 5 Rs - Regroup; Reprioritize; Restore; Renew; and Rejuvenate into your life. Implementing these elements into your life, will yield success. Your success is centered around the effort that you put forth to:
S - set your goal
U - understand the obstacles
C - create a positive mental map (on how you will achieve success)
C - clear your mind of self-doubt (get out of your own way!)
E - embrace the challenges (challenges are inevitable)
S - stay on track (stay focused)
S - strive for excellence and soar

This week's episode is a replay of Ep. 2 - G.O.A.L.S. (Get On Another Level Sis). In this episode of LITE It Up, Dr. Aginah Musherah, explored the importance of goal setting, and surrounding yourself with greatness! Listeners were inspired and empowered to take action to live the life they wanted and deserve. When we entered 2020, we weren't prepared to deal with a pandemic, sheltering in place, children completing their education in a remote setting, or the drastic loss of life.
While 2020 has been a year filled with tremendous loss, there were also plenty of lessons and wins! This year has been a test of our resilience and strength. For example: business owners were innovative and pivoted during the pandemic. This episode is a reminder that it is critical to develop G.O.A.L.S.. As you prepare for 2021, make sure you develop a plan, allow room to shift if necessary, and execute appropriately.
