J. Warner Wallace was a cold-case homicide detective before retiring and becoming a a best selling Christian author. His latest book "The Truth in True Crime" is divided into 15 chapters. Each chapter introduces you to an investigation of a death as Wallace and his partner Rick chase down leads and along the way learn guiding principles to help you thrive and flourish as a human being created in the image of God.
As a fellow law enforcement officer, I had a blast swapping stories with Jim and discussing how the Bible explains in precise detail what human nature is really like. The Bible spells out the traits we need to succeed and the pitfalls to avoid. It also explains how God has created us for a relationship with him.
Jim's new book is very well researched with numerous footnotes citing modern sources from psychology, sociology, and other areas of science. However, it is very easy to read and almost felt like you are following along in a crime novel. I highly recommend this book!

Satan is called the father of lies for a reason because he is so deceptive and cunning. He has tricked a lot of churches into using Occult techniques and passing it off as something "Christian." In this conversation I talk with former Occult practitioner, Marcia Montenegro, about new fads and techniques that Churches are using that have their origin in the Occult. She warns against the dangers of these things and Christians need to have better discernment. This is a fascinating conversation!

Marcia Montenegro, former Occult practitioner, shares her story of finding Jesus. In reality, she talks about how God was working in her life long before she had any desire to become a Christian. This is a fascinating conversation to see how God works in His sovereignty and providence to bring an Occult member out of the clutches of the devil and have her find Christ. She is now a professed Christian who helps educate the church on how to avoid the hidden occult teachings that creep into the church.

Have you ever wondered what the Occult teaches? In this episode I speak with Marcia Montenegro who spent a large portion of her adult life in the occult. She was a Professional Astrologer. Before that she was involved in various New Age, occult, and Eastern beliefs and practices, including Inner Light Consciousness, Tibetan Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Hindu teachings and meditation, and psychic development classes. During these years, she also participated in past life regression, numerology, Tarot cards, spirit contact, seances, astral travel, and received a spirit guide through a guided visualization. The purpose of baptism is a highly debated topic in the Christian world. This episode is part 2 of a series I am doing as we look into the conversions of the book of Acts to see how the early church viewed baptism. In this video we will look at Acts 8 with the conversion of the Samaritans by the preaching of Philip. We will discuss why the Apostles came down to lay their hands on the Samaritans and critique some popular Christian commentators who seem to misunderstand Acts 8.

What is the meaning of baptism? The question is asked by pretty much every Christian because the topic comes up repeatedly in the New Testament. But what connection, if any, does it have to the conversion process?
This past year I studied the book of Acts in depth, reading a lot of commentaries and articles on it. I took a look the role baptism played in the conversion process for the early church. I found that they seemed to value baptism differently than most Protestant churches do today.
We need to be in the habit of allowing the Bible to reshape our theology instead of reading our theology into the text. In this series, I explore how the first converts responded to the Gospel message and what role Baptism played in that process.

What is Critical Race Theory and should Christians believe it? There is a lot of confusion surrounding CRT. Admittedly, even I had to spend a lot of hours doing my own research. In this episode I talk with the founder of Steadfast Truth Ministries, Kelly Beware, about her own journey coming into contact with CRT. Does Numbers 5 in the Bible promote abortion in the case of suspected infidelity? In 2022, the Supreme Court is taking a look at Roe v. Wade and it might be overturned. This has caused Christians and non-Christians to focus on the topic of abortion again. Some people attempt to find verses in the Bible that supposedly support abortion or even command it. One Instagram post was shown to me recently that claimed Numbers 5 prescribes abortion in certain cases. In this video, I will examine this claim and properly explain how the passage is NOT talking about abortion.

There are key prophecies in the Old Testament regarding Jesus as the Messiah. Among them, there is a theme of Jesus as the Messiah King coming through the line of David. The main passage for this is found in 2 Samuel 7. But, many of the Psalms build upon this theme to teach us about this Messiah King. Psalm 89 is one of those passages. In this text, the Psalmist remembers God's choice of David and the promise he gave to David to establish an everlasting kingdom through him. Then, the Psalmist looks at the current state of the Davidic Kingdom in turmoil and asks God to renew his promise to David. This is ultimately fulfilled when Jesus comes through his death, burial, and resurrection.

King David was a central figure in the Old Testament. God actually revealed to him some major details regarding Jesus as the Messiah. In 2 Samuel 7, God tells David that the Messiah will come from his descendants and he will have a kingdom that would last forever. Will preaching on abortion drive people away or help save lives? This is something most preachers have to consider when dealing with abortion sermons. We want to make sure people feel welcome at church but we also want to be faithful to God and His Word. Should we even preach on abortion or should we leave that to private conversations? How did your church survive the Covid pandemic? A lot of churches suffered greatly and some even closed their doors forever. So many church leaders suffered burn out, quitting the ministry during the coronavirus pandemic. This is heartbreaking. But here is one church, Compass Christian Church, that actually THRIVED during the pandemic. Learn more about what they did to pivot once the pandemic set it and creative ideas they tried in order to keep achieving God's mission throughout the past few years. Oftentimes I have hear people question whether they should be baptized again. They have doubts about whether they did it the right way or had the right motives. However, in February 2022 I read an article where the Catholic Church is calling INVALID anyone's baptism that was performed by a certain priest in Arizona over the past 20 years. Why would they do this? All because he used the "wrong words" while performing the baptisms. In this episode we will talk about what he did and what the New Testament says about what goes along with baptism in order to make it legitimate.

Did you know that Jesus was prophesied about by a Non-Israelite named Balaam and by Moses? In this episode I will examined the context surrounding Balaam and Balak's exchange that led Balaam to foretell about the coming Messiah and how it Jesus fulfills it. Did you know that Jesus is mentioned in the book of Genesis? Of course, not specifically his name but definitely details about him as the Messiah. There are two main passages in Genesis that we will look at in this video. First, the promise to Abraham in Genesis 12 gives us a major detail as to who the Messiah will be. Second, Genesis 49 explains that the Messiah will be of royal lineage. All this is fulfilled in Jesus. Find out how by watching the video.

Many Christians misinterpret the Bible because they think prophecy only works in one way. But, the New Testament actually uses Old Testament prophecy in three different ways. If you do not understand how these methods work, you will misunderstand prophecy and not really know how the New Testament author is applying the text to Jesus. In this video, I will describe how Christians misapply Old Testament passages to be about Jesus when that was never the intention of the Biblical authors. Then, we will take a look at the very first prophecy the Bible gives regarding the coming Savior!

His latest book "Person of Interest" investigates the person of Jesus using the same innovative approach he employs to solve real missing person murder cases. What is Critical Race Theory. Monique Duson and I discuss CRT in this episode of DyerConversations. We show how CRT is tied to other ideologies like fat studies, gender studies, able-bodied studies, etc... We discuss how CRT teaches that minorities have a unique voice of color and whether there is any truth to that statement. Our conversation discusses whether CRT is a biblical concept and whether churches should talk about it at all or just leave it alone. Is America systemically racist? Was America built upon racism? Critical Race Theory teaches that the very systems of America are systemically racist. CRT also pushes itself as the new civil rights movement. However, the Abolitionist and Civil Rights leaders would disagree with Critical Race Theory. Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. thought the founding principles of America were beautiful, just, and right. Critical Race Theory is a hot button topic in our culture. Some Christians support it, some reject it, and some don't even know what it is. In this episode I will give you my preliminary thoughts on CRT and touch on why the philosophical foundation of CRT is crucial to understand if you are going to objectively examine it.

How do we know we can trust the book of Genesis is reliable? The Bible claims Moses wrote it, but is that true? In this episode I will evaluate two points people bring up to say we shouldn't believe Moses wrote Genesis. One of those points is that Genesis tells the same stories multiple times and therefore, there must be multiple authors behind Genesis and not just Moses. Upon examination we realize these points are baseless and we can absolutely trust that Moses wrote Genesis.

2020 has been a year of controversy. We have seen multiple police involved incidents where people have died. There are protests across the nation for Black Lives Matter. Antifa is rioting and destroying multiple cities. Some are calling for the police to be defunded. A group in Seattle made a sovereign nation called CHAZ. And this doesn't even begin to discuss the issues surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Everyone seems to have an opinion and is making it known on social media. Americans are fighting each other and some wonder if we are headed for another civil war. The 2020 Presidential elections are sure to cap off this year in even more controversy. Everyone is scared about the direction our country is going.
I believe Christians have done a really poor job representing Christ on social media. Some Christians are extremely vocal about politics and others believe we shouldn't get involved in politics if we are Christians. In this video I will discuss the biggest way I see a lot of Christians failing on social media. I offer one Bible verse that should help us to regain our focus and give us a good course correction on how to represent Christ on social media.

There is a lot of debate among Christians regarding the creation story found in Genesis as well as the affects of Adam's sin. Do we need to understand all the technical details before we can learn from the Genesis account? I believe we can discover the purpose of the story before we start getting into the debates surrounding Genesis 1-3. In this episode, I will be giving a basic overview of the creation story and the Fall of man.

If Christians are going to be effective at evangelism, we must identify which hurdle the person is stumbling over and help them to remove it.
