We part with money when it comes to learning, whether that be starting up a business, growing an exciting one, personal growth and so on, but when it comes to advertising small business especially those online, are less likely to have budgets for advertising.

Is it because it feels like there are so many avenues that are free these days, enter every social media platform.

Is it because of being burnt by so many people out there just wanting to access your wallet and not aid in your growth.

Or is it because it all seems confusing. You wear a lot of hats but media mogul wasn’t supposed to be one of them

Or is it simply that it is on the “to do” list but is also the easiest thing to push to the next day when the hours get away from you.

Well today my guest is going to help you change that relationship. Carol Kabaale is a Facebook Ads & Strategy Consultant dedicated to helping online business coaches shine with Facebook ads.

We are going to cover:

  • Actionable Strategies: clear, practical steps for creating Meta ads that connect with your ideal audience and drive real results.
  • Confidence in Marketing: tips on how to simplify digital marketing, helping you to feel more confident in marketing efforts without the overwhelm.
  • Growth Mindset: how to adopt a mindset that embraces learning and growth, even when faced with challenges in business.

Are you a dreamer and/or goal setter?

Do you often beat yourself up when you cannot make them a reality in the same way you dreamed them?

You need to listen to this episode then.

I talk about how I had a goal for 5 years. This year I was finally able to make the goal a reality well at least part of it. When all the pieces did not come together I found myself beating myself up, feeling sorry for myself and questioning what I could have done better.

After a talk with my mentor I realized that I was counting the wrong things, needed to take my own advice and go back to the beginning to reset.

I explain how I did this and a few other things that helped me to start counting the right things, see and celebrate the right things and get back on track.

No matter where you are, at one time or another, you probably have passed by a roadside stand. Sometimes they are garage sales, or kids selling lemonade but if you’re lucky enough it is a fruit stand.

As an entrepreneur have you ever thought, I wonder what a stand like this pulls in? Can it be a full time thing?

My guest today is going to tell you about her story of peaches to profits, how collaboration with farmers and cities helped her grow and how she converted a single peach stand into over 200 workers across 3 states.

One of my favorite collaborations to talk about is Lipsmackers and Dr Pepper. Started in 1975 and going for 45 successful years this collab shows how one idea can turn into a duplicatable collaboration earning awards, expansion, new audiences and more.

We are going to talk about how you can use this brand collaboration to think up ideas for your own business and it does not matter if you have a product or a service.

If you know anything about me it is that the word collaboration is something that will make my head turn. It’s just an intriguing word to me, ever since I learned how to use it to grow profits in my business.

Over the years I have loved watching some of the big players push boundaries to work together. I find it quite inspiring for ideas in my own company.

These are the things I want to share with you. What some of the greats did and how you can use their examples in your own business, no matter what level you are at.

This week I look at some of the coauthor collaborations that Crocs did that helped set them onto new roads and maps.

I am also going to give you some ideas on how you can take these examples and generate some ideas for your own business. Unless you have phone numbers for some of the people I mention, then by all means use try those first!

How many times have you sat down to do a task in your business and had to close your eyes for a few minutes. Maybe to pump yourself up, maybe to convince yourself to start, or maybe to just once again try to figure out how to not have to ever do the task again?

This is something that all entrepreneurs struggle with. Operations and SOP aren’t topics that most run to learn about but the truth of the matter is, they are almost always what will move your needle the fastest in your business.

Olivia joins us today to talk about how she learned this lesson herself and turned it into a full time career moving her across countries.

You are going to get some great strategies, a-ha moments, and plenty of “got to write this down right away”.

No matter how many times I take a stage I am always surprised by the amount of people that feel they are not capable of "thinking outside of the box".

My clients are no different. Often times this is the first hurdle they need to get over. It is why I dedicated a whole chapter in my book How to Collaborate to this topic.

The truth is we all have this muscle, we just somewhere in adulthood forgot to keep using it.

Today I am going to take you through this very simple exercise so that you can find that muscle again and together we can start to activate it to it's best level.

There are some special gifts at the end as well so if you like free stuff stay tuned on how to get those.

We made it to 200 episodes!

I am so excited to hit this milestone and talk about my favorite subject besides collaboration, MONEY MONEY MONEY.

Having to find ways to save money can frankly be annoying. Most times because we come from a frame of mind of cutting. Having to go without, loosing, restriction and sacrifice are all words I hear from clients when this subject comes up.

Instead of cutting let's talk about reducing expenses. This small word change can help a lot when it comes to this touchy subject for most business owners.

I talk about some ways you can think about reducing your expenses and challenge you to pick just two to work on in your situation.

Remember cutting or reducing expenses isn't about giving up things its about thinking how to  get more things like cash in your bank and isn't that what we all want at the end of the day.

If you read this far I know that you are an amazing Foxy Listener so I want to say a special thank you to you for hanging out with me every week. Every time you click on an episode, like a post or send me an email it just makes such a difference in my day.  Thank you for being on this journey with me.  I look forward to the next 200 stops together!

If you read even his far and it is before May 2023 click here to get a special thank you from me to you.

Sometimes it is hard to see how certain things set us up for later in life. Growing up in a fishing family was one of those things for Sena.

Sena Wheeler is part of a 3rd generation fishing family and the co-founder of Sena Sea, which brings wild Alaskan seafood direct to your door.

She's passionate about sustainability, helping busy families eat healthier and educating people about the brain-boosting benefits of wild fish. She has a master’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a specialty in quantifying omega 3's in fish and determining preferred handling practices for premium quality.

She and her husband enjoy running this family business together, spending part of the year in Alaska and having the flexibility to enjoy watching her children participate in their school sports, and of course, eating and cooking fish!

We all hear that we have to have an elevator pitch, but how many floors do you have, what needs to be in it, how much is too much, the list can go on and on.

Your elevator pitch needs to be a living document and you are going to need more than one depending on who it is that you are "pitching to". It also needs to evolve as you and your business do.  This will happen because the more you say it the more you will get it refined.

That is important! The more you say it the more you will get it refined! I write it twice because the key is that you understand that you will not get it near perfect unless you try it out. More then once and more then just to a friend. Listen and watch for the reactions and then tweek as needed.

So listen in, write some tips and send me your pitch! Let's get these "elevators" buzzing with connections and questions.

Don’t fake it till you make it, instead Practice for the future. Selling is just helping. Seven ways to grow without spending a dime. The power of using other people’s words. How to grow a business without advertising. Terry and I talk about all this and so much more on today’s episode.

Terry Begue is living proof that every single one of us has the ability to overcome our challenges and create the most extraordinary life we can imagine.

Terry started his painting business fresh out of high school with no money, no experience, no connections and no skills. Armed with nothing more than a pick-up truck and a dream. He spent years refining his painting skills only to discover no matter how good he became he was just another painter in an overcrowded market.

Refusing to settle, he stopped working on his painting skills and began perfecting his people skills. Learning what motivates people to buy, and taking away the reasons why they wouldn’t buy, and his business blew up! He more than doubled his income in just six months and over the next year, doubled it again!

Since then, Terry has fine-tuned his process for business and personal growth, into an easy to follow, four step system. His proven system has allowed his company to grow year after year, even though he hasn’t advertised since 2012!

Today, Terry is an international speaker and author of, “Attract & Keep Customers for Life: Four Abilities to Build Trust, Communicate Your Value and Charge What You’re Worth”

He recently launched his brand-new course, “Unnoticed to Unforgettable” designed to give even greater access and insight to his proven strategies in an effort to help as many people as he can fulfill the unlimited potential that lies within them.

Everyone tells you how important education is, so we get one. Then they tell you that networking is the key to a career or running a business, so then what?! No one really teaches you how to do this even though it is one of the biggest skills.  Mark Herschberg has noticed this and created The Career Toolkit to help you gain all the skills for success that no one has been teaching.

We talk about interviewing skills from sitting on both sides of the table, what being a team player means, and of course networking versus selling and the mistakes commonly made.  He also gives us a peek into what it was like to write the book and some of the struggles he faced.

Have you ever sat at your desk and thought, someone else really needs to do these tasks for me! Amanda talks to us about time tools, how and what to delegate, good communication, questions to ask when hiring an assistant, how it can keep money in your pocket and more.

Amanda Hamilton is the founder of Hamilton Raye “Your Outsourced Admin®” , which brings professional remote administrative support to startup organizations and businesses. Prior to starting Hamilton Raye, she spent ten years working in the corporate retail industry. She had a very successful career in production and sourcing where she had the opportunity to learn best practices for staying organized, managing constant changes in priorities, and finding process efficiencies to reduce workload. Loving the scope of her work and her team, but craving personal and professional growth, she longed to work remotely in order to live and work anywhere she pleased. Intrigued by the ‘digital nomads’ she would often read about, Amanda decided to take her fate into her own hands.

As Amanda started to connect with Founders, CEO’s, and small business owners, she saw a white space opportunity where these individuals were wearing multiple hats and looking for more time in their days and weeks. The most necessary piece of being a business owner is to maintain maximum efficiency and productivity, by keeping your schedule moving and remaining highly organized.

The last thing anyone usually wants to do is walk into a lawyer’s office.  Most of the time it is because that means that you are in trouble. Business owners often don’t use a lawyer until they are in hot water but Jeremy is one lawyer that is working to change that stigmatism. A lawyer is someone that needs to be part of your team from the beginning to help you navigate so you have plans in place before you get into sticky situations. Not only does this save you time and money but also helps you not to have to get stuck in the first place.

Now I know some of you may be thinking that most lawyers talk to you like you are suppose to understand the language, and that can be true but this is why this episode is one you want to listen to. Jeremy uses plain english to help you understand the law, what to look for, why you need it and then how to go about making that happen.

He has also provided so many amazing resources just for you Foxy Listener so don’t forget to head to our blog here to get access to them all.

Can you get free stuff and promote it and that be a collaboration? Yes of course you can, but there are some things that you need to be aware of before you do that.

Look there is nothing wrong with accepting gifts or even accepting companies that send you stuff to try and review if you like it.  When you "end up the creek" is when you blur the lines between genuine interest in the item and just wanting them to keep coming in for nothing.

I talk about this and what to think about while you are deciding if this is a collaboration or just advertising.

I also give you 3 things to check out, just because I like them.

What type of relationship do you have with money? Healthy, unhealthy? Do you know why that is? I sat down with Bob Wheeler to talk about the money nerve, how to find it and steps you can take to fix and strengthen it.

Bob Wheeler helps listeners conquer their money shame and avoid making poor financial decisions by teaching how emotions can dictate our choices.

As a man of true integrity with infectious energy, Bob’s crusade for personal growth has cross-pollinated with his accounting practice to create a new approach to personal finances. His passion is to help others gain insights about how their emotions trigger financial decisions. Combining finances with behaviors, Bob explores his personal concept of creating a healthy relationship with money in his recent book, The Money Nerve.

While strengthening his accounting practice, Bob has simultaneously pursued his love of satire and ventured into the realm of standup comedy. From his thirty years of helping clients, Bob has distilled a concoction of warmth, humor, information, motivation and budgeting directives that he offers to anyone with financial concerns. He is also currently the CFO for The World Famous Comedy Store.

Bob's world travels have led him to high altitudes. He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, ascended to the Mount Everest Base Camp, and hiked several smaller mountains in between. With charm and humor, his experiences on the road, in the office, or running a Greek marathon, feed his wit as a standup comic and financial motivator.

I think most can agree that when you think of a lawyer it is often when you are in trouble. What if you changed the way you think and instead of only using them when in dire straights you added them to your team. Someone that is always on your side, helping you to reach your goals and supporting you all along the way. Maybe then it wouldn't be a dreaded call but more of calling a friend for advice. This is one of the goals Scott has in his life. To have people look at law professionals differently and to help change the way in which practices run. Have you ever read a book that you thought, there is no way this happens in real life!? When Marek sent me his book I really didn't know what to expect besides business. Well was I wrong! There is  lessons, taming egos, travel, women, parties, fast cars, friends, corruption and cultures. That STILL doesn't even scratch the surface of this book.

After I was done the book I could not WAIT to talk with Marek and find out more about the book, Freddy, where Chinedu originated from and more.  Trust me once you read the book it will all make sense.

Just when you think there cannot be more there is:

He co-founded Sunroof.se – a 2-in-1 Solar Roofs producer, HotelOnline.co – a Travel Technology Company, and Jumia Travel – Africa’s Biggest Hotel Booking Portal listed on NYSE as part of Jumia Group. In 2014, he was chosen as one of the Ten Most Important People in Tech by IT News Africa Magazine. He is a Lead Mentor at Google’s Launchpad and World Bank’s XL Africa Program.

Marek is a bestselling author of “Chasing Black Unicorns”, a former snowboard instructor, and a bartender, but his real life goal is simply to leave this World in slightly better shape than what it was when he arrived.

How happy are you? What habits do you have? How many are not serving you? We are diving in to these questions and more with...

TEDx Speaker, #1 Bestselling author of The Six Habits and Life Mastery Coach, Laura DiBenedetto teaches how to create the life of our dreams without sacrificing what we love. Laura is the founder and CEO of the award-winning marketing company, Vision Advertising, located in the greater Boston area. Laura created, built and ran the growth-oriented enterprise for 19 years with tremendous success, before retiring from active involvement in 2018 at age 37, passing the reins to her successor. Over the years, Laura personally sold several million dollars in ongoing contracts, was featured on Fox News and other Boston programming several times, was publicly recognized for business accomplishments, and was named a 40 Under Forty winner at only age 23. Having started her first business at 19, Laura began to search for her next big project in 2012, finally finding it right on the cusp of retirement. While Laura’s career had been speckled with accomplishments and accolades, when she retired, she was simply burnt out and unhappy. After years of classes, workshops, books, and more, Laura was confused and wondering why the personal development world had let her down and sought to solve the problem. She went on a radical journey of self-discovery, research, and testing, determined to find energy and lasting, fulfilling happiness in all areas of life. Laura found the answers to the question that plagued her (and so many of us)–six of them, in fact. She is devoted to sharing the universally applicable and deeply liberating truths she discovered, so that others may find their own path out of misery and into lasting, fulfilling happiness and limitless possibility. Laura moved away from Boston in 2019 to the island of Maui, Hawaii and lives in tropical bliss with her husband, cats and dog.

I first heard about Suz when someone introduced me to her podcast Brand Builders Lab. From there I followed her on social media and became such a fan. Her energy is SO contagious but more then that she is an out of the box thinker like myself! So when I found out she was coming on the show I was doing happy dances in my office. I draw so much inspiration from her and I am sure you will too. We talked about so many things, branding, stating the numbers, audience, boldness and I may have thrown in some good ol' Canadian saying eh! We also laughed....a lot! Two of the biggest things that I remember from our talk when she spoke about factoring your profit into the costs of a event you put on and that it doesn't matter the size of your audience but the engagement! You'll have to listen in to get the full context but it is fantastic and really made me stop and take a lot at a few things I had been doing in one of mu businesses. If this is your first time hearing her name here is a little bit more info. She is a BOLD Business Branding & Speaker Coach who takes your brand from basic biscuits to delectable 'got to have' goodness. If you want to be the go-to person in your industry or want clients clambering for your brand of awesome sauce and saying "I just have to work with YOU" - then Suz is your person! She has over 10 years as a brand consultant working with global brands and as entrepreneurs, Suz knows what works when it comes to creating a brand that connects and stands out. She is recognized as a Top 10 Branding Coach by YAHOO! Finance and having written for Entrepreneur.com, Savvy SME and many other well known publications, Suz is also the author of Play Big, Brand Bold, host of the popular Brand Builders Lab Podcast and the creator of Brand Builders Academy & The Bold Speakers Collective. Technology is something we all know is ever changing, sometimes it feels like you just get caught up and it all changes again. That is why having people like Carolyn on your team can help you save a lot of headaches while staying top of your game.

What I love the best about her and her company is that she isn’t about just taking your money. What you do, what you stand for and most of all how profitable she can make you all matter. She spoke to me about things to pay attention to, tips you can use today to start seeing more profit as well as she shared her interesting journey in life.

Let me know what part you enjoyed the most in the comments below! I love hearing from you! Don’t forget to follow Carolyn and her company as well for more great tips and information.

Here is a little more background on this guest:

Carolyn Lowe founded ROI Swift in 2015 to help emerging consumer brands get expert help in Amazon, Paid Ads for Facebook/Instagram, and Paid Search. So many smaller businesses were being taken advantage of by paying agencies big dollars for no results, and Carolyn thought that was wrong. Her team grew an apparel and footwear company from $0-12M in 18 months through paid Facebook and Instagram ads. Carolyn’s goal is to help 1000 brands grow profitably. So far, they have helped 105, so she is 895 away from retirement!

Fun facts about Carolyn: She once won $10,000 on the radio and wished she saved it to invest in Google or Amazon two decades later. After leaving Dell, she founded ROI Swift to follow her passion of helping emerging businesses grow. She is the mother of two children and has her pilot’s license, though no time to actually fly anymore.

Have you ever had an idea but put it on the shelf because you thought it was to “out there”? Lucky for us Colin did not! Not only has he created an incredible company but he is standing by his quote of “I want to do good as a function of being successful.” One example is that for each sheet sold they plant a tree. That’s over 21,000 trees that have been planted!

In this episode I was thrilled to crawl beneath the sheets to chat about business and just have an open conversation about everything from crowd funding math to beans to masks to line ups and more!

Tip: Use FOXY10 when you pick out your sheets!

It really stuck with me when Wayne spoke about how people may not know exactly what you want but they are usually willing to help. However it is up to you to keep asking questions and putting the pieces together to find a solution that will work for you.  Often times we ask 1 person 1 question and when we do not get the answer we want or one that we hoped for we give up. As Wayne said it is important to ask many people because what works for one may not be what works for you.  Here is a bit more about Wayne’s history.

As the founder of Business Builder Camp, Wayne Herring has helped men across the country grow their businesses into successful and thriving enterprises. However, there is so much more to his story than simply “coach” or “consultant.” Wayne has worked as a specialty drilling and blasting contractor and built an organic farm. He doubled the revenue of the company his father started and then helped sell it to an industry giant. He has run ultra marathons, gone on epic road trips, and is a 1997 Montana state arm wrestling champion. Wayne is a father of four and a recovered alcoholic. He loves to hunt and farm, but he also enjoys yoga and meditation. Some have described Wayne as a renaissance man, but he thinks that is a strange term for the son of a coal miner. Having grown a business and coached other business owners, Wayne understands we all have times in our lives where we are blocked. He founded Business Builder Camp to help men overcome obstacles in growing their businesses while creating fulfilling and enjoyable lives. He achieves this both through 1:1 coaching and participating in group retreats. Wayne pushes the members of his Camp to see new possibilities, discover new tools, and identify the gifts they didn’t know they had. Additionally, Wayne is passionate about gathering his clients together at lodges or his farm for fun, friendship, adventure, and rest.

We have all heard that a picture is worth a thousand words but have you thought about what your pictures for your business are saying? Finding a photographer that understands the importance of branding and what it can do for your business can set you apart from the rest in ways you never thought. That is why I was so excited when I met Natalie and learned more about how to think differently about the pictures that you take.

She is such a wealth of knowledge. Let me know what your favorite tip was from this episode. In the meantime here is a little more about this superstar.

Natalie's adage is 'Beauty belongs to you'. She sees beauty in everyone and everything. Image is everything! That's not an indictment but an invitation to create beautiful, fantastic images that create an impact. Natalie comes from a unique upbringing that encompassed a deep passion and interest in the fine arts and languages, thanks in large part to her father; but she was also fortunately exposed to diverse cultures and beauty through world travel and international cooking from her mother.

As a commercial and fine art portrait photographer, Natalie's portfolio has a fashion, editorial and fine art quality. She is obsessed with cinema, especially foreign films and is inspired greatly by them.

Her aim is to create beautiful images for you and/or for your business; quality images that are meant for a magazine or on the walls of an art gallery.

When you first start your business the last thing you are most likely thinking about is what your exit plan is. Most of the days are filled with keeping the lights on and growing. However it is something that's more and more important to think about. Knowing your exit strategy or even just having an outline, as it can change over time, can help for other things like if there was ever an accident. Which of course we never wish for but we still buy the insurance. This is the same for your business strategy.
This is one of the ways where Michael and his company can help to get it all into place and just happens to be exactly what we talked about in this episode.
