In this episode, we're separating fact from fiction as we bust some of the biggest myths surrounding Equine Assisted Learning. Join us as we explore what EAL really is, how it works, and why it's becoming such a powerful tool for personal growth, leadership, teams and life skills. Have you ever had a client who knows exactly what they need to do...but just can't seem to move forward?
In this episode, we're exploring why so many people feel stuck and why talking about change isn't always enough. We'll dive into how horses help people move beyond overthinking, uncover what's really holding them back, and create powerful moments of awareness that lead to lasting change.
You'll learn why horses respond only to what's authentic, how they provide honest, judgment-free feedback, and why that creates breakthroughs that traditional conversations often can't.
If you've ever wondered why Equine Assisted Learning creates such meaningful transformation, this episode will help you understand why the horse truly is the teacher.
What happens when horses become partners in rebuilding confidence, trust, and hope?
In this episode, we share our experience working with the Calgary Dream Centre and the incredible transformations we've witnessed through Equine Assisted Learning. We talk about how horses help participants build real-life skills like communication, healthy boundaries, emotional awareness, problem-solving, leadership, and self-confidence in a way that feels natural and lasting.
We'll share stories from the arena, discuss why horses create such powerful learning moments, and explore how these experiences help participants take the skills they learn with the horses back into their everyday lives.
If you've ever wondered how horses can help people move forward, rebuild their lives, and discover strengths they didn't know they had, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

Why Horses Affect You So Deeply
You've felt it but never been able to explain it. This video finally puts words to that profound connection and why it's not just you.
That There's Something More Here For You
A quiet introduction to the idea that what you've experienced with horses could mean something bigger.

One of the biggest fears people have when exploring Equine Assisted Learning is, “Can I really do this if I’m not a therapist?”
The answer might surprise you.
In this episode, we break down the difference between facilitation and therapy, why those boundaries matter, and how staying in your lane actually creates better outcomes for both participants and horses. We’ll also talk about why structure, clear objectives, and a proven framework are far more important than having a therapy designation when it comes to creating meaningful learning experiences.
If you’ve ever worried that you’re “not qualified enough” to help others through horse-guided learning, this conversation is for you.
You’ve probably heard that phrase before… but what does it actually mean?
In this episode, we break down one of the most overused and misunderstood sayings in the equine-assisted world.
Because horses aren’t standing in the arena giving lectures 😅
So what are they actually teaching?
How do they communicate?
Why do people walk away changed after an interaction with them?
And what is the facilitator’s role if the horse is the teacher?
We dive into the science, the behaviour, the energy, and the real-life application behind why horses create such powerful learning moments, and why understanding how they teach matters just as much as the experience itself.
Most people say it. Few truly understand it.
This conversation changes that.
In this episode, we break that myth wide open and get real about what actually creates results in equine-assisted work. There’s a big difference between random feel-good activities and a structured, objective-driven curriculum, and that difference is everything.
If you’ve ever wondered why some sessions land… and others don’t, this one’s for you.
In this live, we’re pulling back the curtain and sharing real stories from our clients. The moments. The breakthroughs. The exact words they’ve said when something finally clicks. We’ll be reading what they experienced in their own words and talking about how these shifts happen so quickly, without forcing, fixing, or overthinking it.If you’ve ever wondered if this work really makes a difference… this is the one to watch.
Ever wonder how Equine Assisted Learning can actually create real, repeatable results… not just a nice experience in the moment?
In this episode, we’re pulling back the curtain on the curriculum behind the Equine Connection model and why it works so powerfully.
This isn’t random activities with horses. This is a structured, objective-driven approach where each program builds on the next. Step by step, participants develop awareness, communication, boundaries, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a way that actually sticks.
We break down how the building block curriculum creates predictable outcomes, why the “form of delivery” matters, and how working with horses in this way allows clients to feel the learning, not just talk about it.
The result? An armour of real-life skills your clients can take out of the arena and into their everyday world, with confidence, clarity, and consistency.
If you’ve ever wondered how to move from “that was a great experience” to “this actually changed something,” this is the conversation you don’t want to miss.
What if the answer isn’t fixing the horse, but understanding them better? In this episode, we talk about how the Center of Balance Indicating Tool (COBIT) helped us support Brandon when we thought we had run out of options. A powerful conversation about awareness, balance, and listening to what the horse is truly telling us.
Horses are always communicating. But not every moment requires horsemanship.
Sometimes the most powerful learning happens before anything is fixed.
In this upcoming Facebook Live, we will explore:
If you work with horses and humans this conversation will change how you see what is happening right in front of you.
Come curious. Come open. Come ready to listen differently.

In this powerful episode, Kari shares the story of her near-death experience with horses — the moment everything could have ended, but instead changed everything.
What she learned in that instant reshaped how she sees safety, leadership, awareness, and the responsibility we carry when working alongside these incredible animals. This is an honest conversation about humility, respect, and the lessons horses teach us when we least expect it.
We’re hosting a live conversation with Sara Lavoie, a certified Equine-Assisted Learning facilitator and Safety Officer, who has developed a comprehensive safety manual for equine assisted work. This live is for any horse professional working with clients, regardless of modality, facility type, or certification background.
True professionalism means more than skilled facilitation. It requires clearly defined standards, ethical responsibility, and systems that protect horses, humans, and facilities. In this live, we’ll explore what real safety looks like in equine assisted work, including scope of practice, duty of care, insurance considerations, animal welfare, and facility responsibilities, as well as the gaps that exist across the industry.
Horses are not pets. They are powerful, highly sensitive prey animals, and working alongside them requires awareness, responsibility, and ongoing respect for their nature. When safety becomes casual or assumed, risk increases for everyone involved. This manual exists to support safer choices, clearer standards, and deeper respect for the horse as our partner and teacher, while keeping accountability exactly where it belongs with the professionals who choose to do this work.
This is about raising the bar for our entire horse human community and creating work that is trusted, sustainable, and worthy of the horses who make it possible.
We talk a lot about how our course helps people and what skills they can gain through working with horses, but don't just take our word for it. Join us to hear what our clients and facilitators have to say about what we do.
This isn’t just about learning about horses—it’s about truly listening.
Horses are deeply sensitive to breath, intention, nervous system state. Science confirms what many of us feel: when we become more present and regulated, communication clarifies and partnership becomes safer.
And there’s more.
Horses don’t just respond to what we do; they respond to who we are being—and they actively facilitate shifts in our internal and vibrational states.
Join us for an interactive online gathering where we explore real partnership with horses through both scientific understanding and intuitive, embodied awareness. You’ll receive practical tools for clearer communication and a deeper understanding of connection and attunement.
If you’ve ever felt there was more happening with your horse—this space is for you.
We’ll reflect together on questions like:
And we’ll come back to what truly matters:
This is a space to listen deeply, and reconnect—
to your horse, to yourself, and to something quietly sacred that lives in the relationship between you.

Postural Rehabilitation could transform the way you view your horse!Today, we have a special guest to explain why your horse's posture is so important!
Dr. Karen Gellman is a holistic veterinarian and expert in the biomechanics of posture and locomotion in animals. Since 2005, she has been teaching veterinarians, chiropractors, rehabilitators, farriers, dentists and manual therapists about the critical importance of neutral posture for equine performance and wellness..
All horse owners can easily understand how to recognize and fix postural imbalance, which is often the root cause of mystery lameness, behavioral issues and poor performance. Every course that we run always fills us with purpose and joy, but every once in awhile, a very special connection happens that just overfills our cup. Last week we had one of those courses. The fellas came in for their first program. Apprehensive, defensive and definitely not finding much humour in our jokes or entertainment value. They were skeptical and apprehensive to the extreme! But, we always know, it is the time with the horses that will allow them to gain what they need. And boy, did the horses ever do their job!

We are so excited to chat with fellow facilitator Sandi Graham!
Sandi grew up on a ranch in southern Alberta, where horses became an integral part of her life. As a wife and mother of two young adults, she balances her family life with her passion for teaching. Sandi considers herself a lifelong learner, understanding that knowledge is essential for wisdom. The idea of helping people through interactions with horses had always intrigued her, though it remained in the background for some time. When she discovered the equine assisted learning program, Sandi knew she had found her calling. The concept of horses teaching humans resonated deeply with her, solidifying her belief in the powerful partnership between the two species.
Tune in to hear about her horses and the magic she sees happen eery day!
We had the chance to sit down and chat with Alice to learn a little bit more about Jane's right hand gal!

Learning to turn the love of horses into different entities of being with horses and learning from them. Certified in Equine Assisted Learning, farrier, and horsemanship training, and riding lessons. How all of this encompasses the entire business at Foundational Skills Development. Everyone told us you can’t make a living working with horses so had a journey internally to start understanding that it is possible to earn a living with the passion of working with horses.
Join in for this fabulous interview with Jay!
I'll never cease to marvel at the amazing business we've built! The fact that our enterprise involves such valuable creatures and allows us to constantly invest in our own growth is truly remarkable! I absolutely adore how every step we take with horses is not just a passion but also a business expense, eligible for write-offs.
Jane and I made a beautiful decision to go to, Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary in California!! To be present to experience these precious creatures in their world, to watch, to observe (just like we do facilitating), and to CONNECT!! Tune in to hear more about this amazing experience!

Connection is an element sorely missing in our world of disconnect. But through connecting with our horses that can help us to better connect with ourselves & also with humans. Equine Connection’s philosophy is not just about business in the equine field, but also about ensuring a true connection with our horses & protecting their total welfare at all costs.
Today’s podcast is about deepening that connection with our special guest speaker, Elisse Miki.
As a human & equine therapist, Elisse brings a wide variety of modalities into her practice. She began her career as an Exercise Physiologist, having completed her Bachelors in Kinesiology, then went on to obtain her Registered Massage Therapy Licence. She has since gone on to complete Diplomas in Equine Therapy, Equine Craniosacral, & currently in the process of completing both her Human & Equine Osteopathy Diplomas concurrently. We can’t think of anyone better to discuss the horse human connection with.
Join us to dive even deeper into the connection we can have with our horses & with ourselves.
Part of being human has always been that we can’t do this life alone. This is a parallel to horses, too! How do we, through equine-assisted learning, learn to reconnect in such a disconnected world? Connection is survival in the human world and the horse world! All the way back to early humans, we still had a tribe, a group that had our backs or even helped us to survive. Although the world has changed a lot since then, the need for connection with other humans has not changed.
Learn through the teachings of the horse how they can help you connect to yourself, and in turn, connect better with others. We are here but such a short time on this earth, and we must take it into our own hands to survive with the best medicine on earth, the horse!
Join us to discuss what it truly means to be connected. And why, in life, family and even business - connection is vital.
We are so excited to talk to Krystyna Faroe today! Not only is she one of our amazing facilitators, she is also an extraordinary human who has overcome many trials and tribulations and come out of it all with a positive attitude and a smile that could light up any room.
Her story is not short or without hardships, as most stories of triumph.
Krystyna's parents were Polish refugees in a country that didn't readily welcome them, leading to significant struggles during her upbringing. Her mother's health was fragile, while her father worked night shifts to provide for the family.
Krystyna's family history was marked by hardship, with her mother surviving the horrors of a gulag salt mine, where siblings perished due to starvation. Her father, a veteran of the Battle of Monte Casino in Italy, was part of a storied unit that raised the first flag on the hill during the conflict. Their troop's story, including the adoption of Wojtek, a bear enlisted as a private, garnered attention and was immortalized in films. Wojtek, beloved by all, spent his final days at Edinburgh Zoo.
The experiences of her parents and grandparents deeply influenced Krystyna's DNA, akin to salmon instinctively knowing their spawning grounds. Raised in an environment shadowed by parental PTSD and financial strain, she faced constant discouragement and belittlement of her aspirations.
Despite the odds, Krystyna persisted, embarking on a journey that led her to immigrate to Canada, leaving behind her family and friends. Her path was marked by challenges, including the loss of four horses and personal injuries, yet she remained resilient, replacing her losses and pursuing her passion for Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) despite limited resources.
While her husband initially opposed her horse purchases, she pressed forward with determination, using her own funds to pursue her dreams. The move to a new area, despite the distance from her sons and family, provided opportunities to offer support and expertise to those lacking access to urban amenities.
Throughout her life, Krystyna confronted fear and adversity head-on, forging ahead with unwavering determination and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Krystyna has written children's books and articles for informational websites. Her articles have been printed on sites in the United Kingdom and the United States. Her New Adult Science Fiction/Fantasy series of "Elanclose", "Aqueous Passage" and "Travertine" introduce her parviscient protagonist characters, and Kisin the antagonist who not unlike the Kisin god displays anger and ruthlessness.

Find out why we know nothing… 😜That is always the first step in any learning journey. Admitting that we know nothing. We may know A LOT, but in the grand scheme of things, there is so much more we can learn! Being open to learning more, retraining our brain, or even adapting our habits is how we can ultimately be the best we can be.
The lovely Laurie Brander joins us today to talk all about our recent trip to Arizona, her wonderful horses and how the training truly never ends!
Laurie's love and compassion for critters and love of animals is life-long. Laurie started Epona Experience in 2008, several years into her relationship with her "heart horse," Summer. Through her relationship with Summer, Laurie became fascinated with how Summer demanded an authentic relationship before she would cooperate. As a result, Laurie was forced to change her interactions and relationship with Summer. Based on this experience, when she first heard of Equine Assisted Learning, Laurie was hooked.
This skills development program with horses is a natural progression of Laurie's fascination with the dynamic relationship between horses and humans. Laurie has been certified since 2008. However, immediately upon discovery of these groundbreaking programs offered by Equine Connection, Laurie traveled to Strathmore, AB, Canada to attend The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning's Course. Laurie became certified to facilitate the BuildingBlock™ Curriculum in 2016. Laurie is excited to be able to be the first to bring this research proven program with irrefutable results to the Southwestern United States.
Laurie believes that as sensitive prey animals with extraordinary senses, horses can feel what you bring to the table, regardless of any façade you are presenting. At the same time, being with horses is simply a wonderful experience for most people. In a magical way, horses can teach one to be a better human - a better parent, a better leader, a better teammate.
Laurie has spent decades working in the legal profession and business world. When she is not working with clients and the teachers, she works freelance as a writer, paralegal, and trial technology specialist.
Jane is an expert in authentic leadership development, combining her lifelong passion for, understanding of and extensive training in everything horses with her long history of corporate leadership experience both in Australia and internationally. Over the past several years, Jane has immersed herself in the world of equine assisted learning and all that she can learn from horses about herself and others. Applying this in her leadership training brings a whole new depth and dimension to professional development.
After establishing her own performance horse facility in Sydney, Jane soon realised that there was much more to being with her equine partners than riding and ribbons. Keen to share this special insight with a broader range of people, she qualified as an Equine Assisted Learning facilitator with Equine Connection Inc – The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning, and established Leading Edge Life Skills. With the success of her own business, Jane was invited by Equine Connection to become the only certified instructor in the southern hemisphere for Equine Connection and underwent intensive training at their headquarters in Canada. Together Jane and her team – both human and horse – have hosted personal and professional development programs and workshops for literally hundreds of individuals.
Previously, Jane worked in corporate marketing and public relations in Australia, Europe, the United States and Asia Pacific. Jane was a marketing communications manager for SAP Software at their head office in Waldorf, Germany. She was responsible for the Asia Pacific region and helped launch SAP in China over 20 years ago. After returning to Australia, Jane has had various marketing and public relations roles in both corporate companies and consultancies, including Minter Ellison Lawyers, Growing Daily Public Relations and Kardan Consulting and has worked with clients from various industries including banking and finance, engineering, consumer and retail as well as not-for-profit organisations.
Jane believes that horses are the ultimate life coaches, as they provide honest, immediate and unbiased responses to individual and group energy, intention, actions and body language. She says, “Quite simply, horses help people become better humans.”
Jane is a riding coach and competitive show jumping rider. She is married, has four children, three dogs, three cats and too many horses!
One of Equine Connection's fabulous facilitators talks about being new in the game and how to effectively market yourself; trying different things such as her latest Pilot Program called Discovering You and how her networking has led to client referrals for teen girls.

Why are we different? How did Equine Connection get to where they are today?
It truly is a story of guts and loss, passion and perseverance. Kari trained in 2008 at a company that is no longer in existence when there was a six-person partnership, including the program designer and the certification school (Kari still works with the designer to this day). Kari was the only instructor in the world certifying in the BuildingBlock™ course for one year, as the original organization had dissolved their business.
Equine Connection had a hard go to start out. Three years of feeling frustrated and like they weren’t moving forward. But through all of this, they designed a course that will help people to avoid the trials and tribulations they went through, to get them on a fast track to success.

Chakras, energy, fascia, vibration… but what does it all mean? How do all of these pieces work together, and how does this impact our horses?
We can't blame you if you've never given your fascia a second (or first) thought. But fascia is what makes us who we are. Connective tissue is simply everything that binds and connects. But how does that connect with science, chakras, vibrations and horses?
They are all connected!
But how? Leah Dyck of Equus Empowered has a passion for both human and equine wellness. She is co-owner of Stone Clad Farms, a Master level Reiki practitioner, a Certified Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator, and Teacher of Equus Empowered and Horse Culture & Energy programs as well as associated workshop and session offerings.
Leah collaborates with both humans and horses in a method of connection, understanding, and exchange. Join us to gain loads of knowledge that you can apply to not only your horses, but your life!

Most horse people know the concept of pressure and release for horses, but how does that apply to life skills for human?
Well, lots stop and think for a moment about all the pressures we are under every day… financial pressure, social pressure, pressure to be a good parent, a good student, or a good partner? To get everything we need to get done in a day while still finding time to sleep - all within a 24-hour period! It’s exhausting!
So what’s the release? To a horse, the release of pressure is the “Thank you” so what is our “Thank you” to ourselves each day? Just to release some pressure?
Are we being appropriate in our assertiveness towards ourselves and others?
Join us to learn some ways to release that pressure! And if you have ways that work for you, please share them for others!
We have heard of relationship building as a soft skill, but what is the most important relationship we need to build?

Join us for some tips and methods to start building that relationship within. Because after all - that is the most important relationship we will ever build.

Kindness is such a simple word - and it simple to be as well, as long as we make it a priority.
The world is in a weird place. A place that seemingly has left kindness by the wayside. But what we can learn from horses on how kindness matters is essential in how we can live our everyday lives, and implement being kind through all that we do.
Join us on to learn more about what our horses can teach us about kindness. And remember, if you can be anything... be kind.
What does it mean to have loved and lost?
Recently, we lost one of our most amazing teachers. JR was a very special horse who changed many lives. On more that one occasion, people have said, “JR saved my life.” But when her health began to decline to a point where it wasn’t fair for her anymore, we had to make the decision to let her pass on.
It is so hard to lose one of our family members, so how do we move forward. Not only from the loss of our horses, but friendships, marriages, or sometimes even a stranger who is just in our lives for a moment.
Why do people and animals enter our lives to one day leave? What do we do when they are gone? Is there a reason that they just pass through?
Join us to discuss why, sometimes, those we love are just passing through.
“Fear is where the fun starts” This is a quote from Australian author, Al Mabin’s autobiography, ‘The Winding Road’. It gives me goosebumps. Fear has many faces. Join me to explore the good, the bad and the ugly of fear in both a personal and professional sense
For most people, the thought of taking a dream and turning it into reality is too much to take. They think that in order for them to make their dream business happen, that they need to know EVERYTHING there is about that career and have it aced down to perfection.
Or… they feel like they won't be able to get started because there isn't someone beside them with a helping hand guiding them through each step.
Well..
We’re here today to tell you that…
You need to begin putting one foot in front of the other and start your journey into taking your dream and making it a reality. You don't have to know everything there is about a horse business, you just need to START!
Instead of waiting around for years, trying to plan everything out in your head and falling victim to the paralysis by analysis syndrome - what if you just started making small steps each week while having someone that holds your hand along the way?

Social media has a certain way of framing our lives to look full of rainbows and lollipops - but as we all know, life is full of unexpected twists and turns.
Our Leading Edge Founder, Jane Hemingway-Mohr, has just spent the month of May in hospital recovering from an accident and her business partner, Alice had complications following a routine operation earlier this year.
Life is full of challenges that test our resilience and resolve. For both of us, these situations cemented just how much we love what we do and how grateful we are to continue our work despite challenges that come our way. We are also so blessed to be supported by our wonderful families, friends and colleagues.
We are going to talk about life lessons and the power of resilience and positivity.
Life itself is easy...deep breath in; deep breath out. It's everything else that challenges us, deepens us, and breaks us down - that makes life hard.
Kari Fulmek had a dream that fuelled and fulfilled everything she ever wanted in life. Stepping into her dream was easy, she just said 'YES'.
It's what came after the initial affirmation that would take her on a ride through hell.
Kari's story is one of guts and loss, of passion and perseverance. It's the kind of tale that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of feelings, hoping like hell things will turn out, but knowing that her story isn't over yet.

Our horses take on a lot. And usually it is from us! We need to be able to help them release those pieces that no longer are of value to them to help them stay grounded…
But we also need to release! What are the ways that you release? Do you have a release in your life?
Especially in the world that we are living in today - we need to release!
Join us, for some tips and tricks on how to release your horses, and YOU!

At Equine Connection, we celebrate all women, in all their diversities. We embrace their facets and intersections of faith, race, ethnicity, gender or sexual identity, or disability. We celebrate those who came before us, those who stand beside us now, and those who will come after.
The global theme for International Women’s Day in 2021 is ‘Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World’. COVID-19 has impacted women and girls in profound ways, amplifying the inequalities they face every day. It is fundamental that diverse women’s voices and experiences are central to national and global recovery plans.
We would like to share some wonderful stories of women, just like you and me, who have had come to us and been touched by the power of the horse to find their true selves.
Equine Connection certified facilitators around the world offer workshops, programs and courses designed specifically by women for women to empower them to be the best versions of themselves.

Combining her passion for Social-Emotional Learning (reaped from her graduate studies at NYU), Ali is also a certified Equine-Assisted Learning Facilitator, through the Equine Connection, where she is able to offer a life skills curriculum program for ages 8+ as well as empowerment workshops for women and corporate groups.
In her free time, Ali likes to get hugs from Elvis the donkey in exchange for scratching his ears as well going trail riding in idyllic Amwell horse country.
Join us to hear all about how Ali is defying the odds and moving forward with her dream!
Have you ever wondered;
“How do you keep moving forward when things seem so hard?”
“How do you know if this is the right move for you?”
Today we chat with the Lovely Emily Bertrand!
Emily has had a passion for horses from a young age. Her mother Dawn always thought it was just a phase, but Emily never seemed to grow out of it! Growing up poor Emily had to learn to work very hard if she wanted to be around horses and ride. She would learn the names of tack from reading catalogues, take out every horse book there was from the local library, and make the most out of every opportunity she got to be around horses or ride. When she was 10 years old she would go to her aunts stable and would do chores and ride as often as she was allowed to. At 12 she started volunteering at a local trail riding stable and by 16 she was helping to run it. From there she went on to groom and ride hunter's and jumpers, teaching riding lessons, riding anything she could and working hard though high school so she could afford to board her first horse which she purchased herself. Eventually she went on to study dressage and competed successfully up to the CCI** in eventing.
In 2007 at 23 years old she started Royale Equestrian Centre, a 25 acre farm located right in the city. With some help from her family, they took the old dilapidated run-down farm and turned it into an equestrian centre that has become a true social enterprise. A farm that is now a staple in her local community that has seen given thousands of people the opportunity to learn about horses and ride. Fast forward 13 years later and she is now starting a second location with her cousin Cody Citzler and long-time clients the Calder Family. The second farm also in a prime suburban spot in Ottawa. The farm has been named the Royale Ranch and is set to open June 2021. Where they will be offering riding lessons, boarding and EAL programs.
Join us to hear all about Emily and her phenomenal feats in the business world through all the craziness that life has to offer!
⭐This week on Equine Connection’s “What’s Right?” Series!⭐ Boozhoo!!! Have you ever wondered; 👉“How do we try something new in the horse world?” 👉“Can a family business stay alive in today's world?” 🤩Today we chat with the beautiful and inspiring Joyce Gardner! Joyce grew up just outside of Dryden, ON. For those of you who don’t know where that is, it is between Thunder Bay, ON and Winnipeg, MB. Growing up on a small family farm they always had animals around, horses being one of them. As Joyce grew older, she grew out of the horse phase and went onto other things, later to have her daughter get her back into the horse world. For a long time, she had a dream of her daughters and her having some kind of business to help individuals in the area that needed it. She was sitting on the couch one night on Facebook, as one does, and ads for Equine Connection kept popping up and she was hooked. Joyce did some research into equine assisted learning and decided to take the leap of trying something new. 8 years ago, after countless hours on the road between Dryden and eagle river, where the beginning of our herd lived, she purchased an old store and transformed it into a working ranch. They have 136 acres, 8 teachers from 7 to 27 years of age, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Joyce and her family are big on upcycling where possible so they moved and refurbished the old garage into a classroom, pounded some posts and peeled some trees for boards for the ring (they have since put up 2x6 boards) and they can now say they look like a true business. Joyce worked with not for profit organizations over the last 25 plus years, which can be very stressful! Working with horses became her mental health outlet and doing it with her family was even more rewarding. Joyce’s oldest daughter is also a facilitator and together they are striving to get the message out about the power of working with horses.
Have you ever wondered;

We have a super special guest! A certified fitness instructor, personal trainer and yoga instructor.
The amazing Kelly Montford is also a daughter, sister and most importantly a mother, to three humans and two four-leggers.
She was never athletic in her school years and was always more interested in curling up in the corner with a book or being outside.
About 18 yrs ago, one of her children began developing health issues and Kelly needed an outlet. She began running and lifting weights and noticed how my coping capacity increased. As their lives returned to some sort of normalcy, she continued on with her fitness activities. She had more clarity, more energy. Her clothes fit better and she was happy. She knew this couldn’t just be her, this had to be something that could help others.
At the same time all of this was happening, She knew she needed a career change.
Working at a desk inside was becoming less desirable and fulfilling.
She made the leap, in her mid-thirties, and went back to post-secondary education - earned her personal training certificate. From there, she has earned her 200-hour yoga training, then her 300 hour as well as group fitness and TRX training.
She was invited shortly thereafter to work with children in her local school district who, for whatever reason, weren’t able to partake in the mainstream physical education program.
Now, alongside working with all ages and abilities on multiple levels, she has recently become part owner/operator of Strathmore’s Transcend Yoga & Wellness.
Have you ever wondered;
“What’s right in how I run a horse biz?”
“These are crazy times, is it even possible?”
“What are some things I can do to keep moving forward?”
We have a super special guest! The lovely Jane Hemingway-Mohr who is not only just an all around amazing business and horse woman, but she is also our Instructor in Australia!
Jane is an expert in authentic leadership development, combining her lifelong passion for, understanding of and extensive training in everything horses with her long history of corporate experience both in Australia and internationally.
Over the past several years, Jane has immersed herself in the world of equine assisted learning and all that she can learn from horses about herself and others.
Jane believes that horses are the ultimate life coaches, as they provide honest, immediate and unbiased responses to individual and group energy, intention, actions and body language. She says, “Quite simply, horses help people become better humans.”
After establishing her own performance horse boarding, training and coaching facility in 2011, Jane soon realized that there was much more to being with her equine partners than riding and ribbons. Keen to share this special insight with a broader range of people, she qualified as an Equine Assisted Learning facilitator with Equine Connection Inc – The Academy of Equine Assisted Learning, and established Leading Edge Life Skills in March 2015. In January 2017, Jane undertook further training to become the only certified instructor in the southern hemisphere for Equine Connection.
Together Jane and her team – both human and horse – have hosted personal and professional development programs and workshops for literally hundreds of individuals.
Jane is an accredited riding coach and competitive show jumping rider. She is married, has four children, three dogs, three cats and too many horses! (As if that were a real thing! Ha!)

Have you ever wondered; “What’s right in how I communicate with my horses?” “Am I totally hearing them?” “What are some things I can do to keep moving forward?”
The amazing Leah Dyck joins us to tell us about this and so much more!
Leah brings a passion for wellness for both human and equine. She is co-owner of Stone Clad Farms, a Master level Reiki practitioner, a Certified Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator, Facilitator of Guidance of the Horse (Wellness and Balance) and Teachings of the Horse (Equine Assisted Learning) programs as well as associated workshop offerings. She also manages a veterinary equine reproduction department during breeding season. Seriously! When does she sleep!
Leah has an extra interest in holistic horse care with an integrated approach. Leah also participated in her mother's holistic health and wellness facility, Namaste, in Sherwood Park for its 10 year duration where she learned a variety of complementary health and wellness modalities.
Leah's primary goal is to give back. Horses have enhanced her life in a profound way and finding ways to share them with those who may otherwise not have the opportunity is a driving force. “Ultimately, these interactions are good for the horses and good for the people.” Leah says, “They create a ripple effect that flows out into the world in a positive way.”
Have you ever wondered; “What’s right in business today?”
“How are people making things work through COVID?”
“What are some things I can do to keep moving forward?” We have an amazing guest to start off answering these questions! The amazing Michelle Mulholland from Ridgetown, Ontario is the owner and operator of Gully’s Learning Ranch and will be our first guest letting us know what has been right for HER business!
💛Michelle is a facilitator of a life skills development program that helps both youth and adults build interpersonal communication skills. Working with horses her entire life, she now has the opportunity to see first-hand throughout my life, the positive changes that the horse/human interaction provides. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from McMaster University, as well as a Diploma in Equine Studies and a Certificate in Equine Business Management, both from the University of Guelph.💛 🐴But working with people and horses does require… actually working with people. Something that has been pretty difficult over the last little while.
It’s our turn to be interviewed! 🤩Kent Boehm from @NineBusinessGroup will be joining us this morning to talk about Equine Connection and how we got to be where we are today! Tune in to hear all about how Equine Connection grew to be in the international 🌎organization it is today!
That’s right! We learned so much from Doug Walsh over the past few weeks and now we get to chat with the amazing Warwick Schiller to add even more to our “What’s Right?” toolbox!
Warwick looks at horsemanship as seeing things from the horse's eye’s, or from the horse's point of view. As humans, we tend to think we are smarter and know better, but time after time, the horse shows us, if we listen they will teach us. A horse knows better than a human about what a horse thinks. If we get the wrong answer, we need to change in order to get a different answer.🐴
The concept of making the right easy and wrong thing hard is said a lot, and sounds like a nice catchphrase for smart natural horse people, however, really understanding it and being able to apply is very different than just saying it.
See things as a horse, understand a horse so you can do this, study the horse so you can understand them and treat a horse like a horse, not what we want a horse to be, not what we are told a horse should be, not what we see a horse as in movies and not what we wished our horse would be.
A horse is only a horse and that is all they know how to be. 🐴❤️
Ahh… This gives us chills! Are you ready to open your mind and become the partner your horse has been waiting for? 😍
Join us to tune in and learn even MORE about what is right with horses!
The Third live with the amazing @DougWalsh from Dark Horse Natural Horsemanship will be about the gift of giving troubled horses a second chance.
🐴Doug will tell us about two horses with significant behavioural misunderstandings that with horsemanship training were be able to embrace a new successful and happy life.
How can a horse change a life? 🐴🤨
The amazing Doug Walsh from Dark Horse Natural Horsemanship joins us AGAIN to discuss a real-life example of how horsemanship has changed peoples lives.
Doug is also bringing a special guest to talk about the relationship between one of his clients and her very difficult horse and how that relationship has forever changed both of their lives.
Join us! 😍
🤩Ever wondered, how do horses ACTUALLY learn? 🐴
What can I do to build a different relationship with my horse? 💡
How does the energy I’m bringing in affect my horse and our relationship?
You are in luck! 🍀
Joining us is Doug Walsh from Dark Horse Natural Horsemanship to answer those questions.
Doug is a Natural Horsemanship Trainer, originally from Colorado, having moved out to the east coast about 12-years ago to the deep south of Florida. He moved to a town called Wellington, Florida, which is the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World. =) He has mastered the techniques to create a healthy, trusting and respectful relationship with horses and is willing to share that knowledge with you!

What is right for my horses?
WE LOVE THIS QUESTION!
Why?...
Because this is something that should ALWAYS be considered as a horse owner.
Are we doing what is right for them, not only for their physical well-being but also for their mental well-being?
We always take a human's quality of life into account, but are we doing that for our horses?
Would your horses even like a career in Equine Assisted Learning, or would it be too much for them?
Join us for a rundown on how to make sure you are doing what is right for your horses when deciding how you will work with them!

When is the right time? A question we ask ourselves all the time…
Is it the right time to start a new job?
Is it the right time to sell a house?
Is it the right time to have a baby?
Is it the right time to follow my dreams?
But here’s the situation…
If not now, then when?
What if today were your last?
Would you have done all you wanted to?
Or would you still be asking yourself, “Is this the right time?”
Is there ever a right time to do anything you truly want to do? There’s always going to be something that can get in the way. The kids are going to school, it’s bad timing, I have a pedicure…
Is the timing wrong for everybody else, or wrong for you?
But what if it is your calling?
What about the drive inside that’s wanting to move you forward?
There’s always going to be something that comes up, that stops you.
Are you going to let timing stop you from pursuing your dreams?
Join us to find out ways to determine what is the right time and can you MAKE it the right time and how?
“You’re never going to be 100% ready and its never going to be just the right time, but that’s the point. It means that every moment is also the right moment. If you want it, you just have to do it.“ ~ Unknown
Is this path right for me?
Have you been searching for something that is just for you?
Have you been searching for answers in how horses can and do help people?
How do we know if something is “right”?
Do we need research to back it up, do we need to “feel” that it is right?
What do we need to know, to know if it is “right”?
Join us, in our NEW 5-week series, “In a world that feels so wrong right now, what is right?” to find out how you can figure out the answers to these questions.

BEMER devices use a pulsed electromagnetic field – abbreviated as PEMF – to deliver a patented therapeutic signal. The BEMER signal helps improve the impaired pumping movements of small and very small vessels to promote the needs-based distribution of blood. And with BEMER's new Veterinary Line for equines, how exciting is it that we can now support them every day: with precisely adapted technology fitted to the needs of the equine sport.
Join us to chat about the science and benefits behind BEMER for horses and how it can encourage and enhance our horses' health, not only making their every day greater but also ensuring their welfare is looked after!

Horses are prey animals and unlike us, as humans, we are predators. They're 98% energy based creatures which means that 24 hours a day 7 days a week, they're trying to figure out who's gonna come after them.
Hoof Care focuses on working with the horse, not against them. When it comes to farrier work, it is essential in looking at the horse as a whole. A job well done not only means that the trim is successful and the shoes are well suited and well fit, but the experience has been positive for the horse and he’s a little better because of it.
Understanding “making the wrong thing hard and the right thing easy”, is often hard for us as people, as it is all about allowing the horse to have control. In a sense, as people, we’re control freaks. We want to control the horse, but really in order to get along with horses really well, the first thing we've got to do and it's hard a lot of the time is to give up that need to control the situation. Listen in!
How do mindset and emotional agility play a role in working with our horses? Learning to manage your mind and emotions not only benefits us but also benefits your horse and Jane Pike from Confident Rider has the key to success with this! Take a listen…
