Daniel Pink is a multiple-author including a number of NYT bestselling books.

His combination of thorough research on a topic and a style of writing that is engaging and entertaining makes his books a great read.

Books like "Drive" where he explains the concept Motivation 2.0 or "To Sell is Human" where he explains why almost all of us are in sales and why extroverts are not the best salespeople or "A Whole New Mind" which is our today"s VUCA world even more relevant are books I loved and love reading.

His latest book is "When" where he looks at the question of how timing - during a day, month, year or life, determines the probability of success of something.

A great conversation with many insights I am implementing on a regular basis.

Oliver calls himself an "agilist". Kindly, he introduced me to Jeff Sutherland who was a guest on this Podcast in the past and is the father of "Scrum".

And he runs a German software company - Matrix42.

Matrix42 is currently mainly focused on Europe, but also has clients in Australia and the US.

So, how is it to lead a German software company in a US-dominated marketplace?

Blockchain is one of the biggest disrupting technology.

Many people, today, talk about Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies.

But Blockchain will have an impact on many industries. And more and more disruptors are emerging.

One of them, Blockfreight, tackles the container industry which is massive.

Especially in Australia where we import most goods, 90% of everything comes in a container to Australia - including our complete belongings when we arrived nine years ago.

Julian Smith, Founder and CEO of Blockfreight, shares his story in this episode. It's not only interesting because of the use of Blockchain but also because of his Entrepreneurial story.

In this episode, I had my good friend and mentor, Peter Kronborg, as my guest.

Peter is looking back on an incredible career of "adventure" as he calls it. Starting out as a lawyer, the path took very unusual turns.

Peter is a highly regarded board advisor, innovation advisor but most of all a very humble and wise individual who brings very different perspectives to today's business life.

His perspective is that we need to uncover heart, emotion and spirit in the way how we conduct business because the other areas don't give us enough satisfaction and differentiation anymore.

He also shares his four magic steps providing a pragmatic approach to today's challenges.

Most importantly, he poses the question:"How can I develop self-knowing."

I know you are going to love his views and perspectives!

Enjoy.

This Episode is a special one.

I decided to talk about the H.P.D.A. (High Performance in the Digital Age) framework, so you have a better understanding where Disciplined Disruption fits in.

This framework helps you to lead yourself and others better in today's fast-changing world.

It's the foundation for my keynote and group presentations.

The session is deliberately short because it's me talking.

I hope you enjoy it.

The University of Melbourne invests a lot of money into research. We talk about $1bn!

From Austria to Australia - because of my German background, I was able to pronounce Nicholas' surname correctly :-) Dr. Nicholas Gruen shares the story of his father that got him interested in

It was a good start into a very entertaining conversation on economics, politics and what we can do differently to solve some of today's problems and challenges.

As the CEO of Lateral Economics, Dr Nicholas Gruen is used to think differently, and that's often a good thing to get new perspectives and views.

His ideas and models to address the challenge that members of parliaments are strongly influenced by party politics are fascinating to listen to. And there is more. So enjoy the conversation as much as I did.

More about Dr Nicholas Gruen Nicholas Gruen is a policy economist, entrepreneur and commentator on our economy, society and innovation. He advised two cabinet ministers in the 1980s and 90s, taught at ANU and sat on the Productivity Commission (then Industry Commission) from 1993 to 1997.

Franz' question as one nobody really has asked him was "Would you do it again?"

In this deep conversation, Franz provides a view behind the curtain of a roller-coaster journey. Franz was Founder of Villa & Hut which he sold successfully. But the success didn't last, and he was hit hard. Getting back took a while, and Franz shares more of that in the conversation.

Now Franz is a popular speaker, mentor and also a Non-Executive Director.

We also discuss quite deep questions like

"Would you like to swap roles with me?"

The answer seems quite easy and straightforward when you are on top of the mountain or after you bounced back to the next top after a deep valley. But what's the answer in the middle of it?

Another area we explore together is the question of what kind of experience matters in today's world. Things are changing at an incredible speed - so what's constant (except change) and what matters?

I know you will love this episode with Franz!

1) STOP

2) ORIENT (to avoid walking in circles)

3) ADAPT

Have you ever driven a car that you cannot flip? Imagine you drive down a hill at an angle which would make a normal car land on its top. Scary? Indeed!

I was lucky to be invited by CEO Tomcar, David Brim, as part of the interview to test-drive his car.

The interview with David was interesting in the way that he provided different perspectives on how to disrupt an industry. He also spoke about some of the benefits and challenges of Australia.

Tomcar background Tomcar Australia is the first and only choice when it comes to choosing a premium, high performance, off-road utility vehicle.

Our vehicles are safe, well built and tough. They're easy to drive and even easier to maintain, with off roading performance second to none.

We manufacture our revolutionary off-road vehicles in Melbourne Australia with our multi-award winning production partner MTM Auto.

It's been hard work building Australia's first off-road ATV factory, but we believe the world needs a tougher, safer and simpler off road utility vehicle. One you can configure to your every need.

Our vehicles have fewer moving parts than traditional vehicles and enjoy multiple parts symmetry from left to right. We use the best materials, and we mean the best. Super tough, no plastic, custom-made. Our Italian high/low diff lock gearbox is a mini miracle.

The life of our vehicles is measured in decades, not years.

Cost of ownership is staggeringly low compared to anything on the market. So cheap to run, and run hard. Military grade build quality throughout.

Almost every software company in the Silicon Valley uses an agile development approach. Venture Capitalists would not invest into a company that is NOT using the agile approach.

At the foundation of this massive development that sweeps throughout the world, is a framework called SCRUM. And the Co-Founder is Jeff Sutherland.

It's rare to have a guest on the Podcast who has had so much impact in the business world through the concepts he developed, has improved and is still teaching.

And, the approach also works in private situations like a family or in your personal life. But, whilst the concept is relatively straightforward, the implementation is hard. Therefore I put something special together which you can be part of. Check it out here.

Jeff's book "SRUM- The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time" has sold more than 100,000 times. Get it here.

I am honoured and excited to have Jeff as a guest. The recording is a few months back but the content is of course current.

More about Jeff Sutherland “Scrum is an Agile method designed to add energy, focus, clarity, and transparency to project planning and implementation. While some say Scrum is not a silver bullet, it can be a heat-seeking missile to outmoded business practices.”

Jeff is the inventor and co-creator of Scrum. He is a West Point graduate, former fighter pilot, and cancer researcher, as well as, CTO of eleven different software companies. He launched the first Scrum team in 1993 and has shepherded its growth into almost every industry: finance, healthcare, higher education, and telecom.

Because Millennials will play an important role in the future of organisations, and it's important to understand how to work with, lead them and learn from them, I am excited to have another expert on the show with Gabrielle Bosché.

She has written a number of book on the topic already and is working with major organisations.

Did you know that Millennials can be split into two main groups? I didn't.

And Millennials like disruption and I more open to it. At the same time, this might come across as disrespectful which is not the case.

A very interesting conversation with Gabrielle. Enjoy!

More About Gabrielle Gabrielle Bosché is America's Millennial expert. She is the bestselling author of four books on her generation and has developed millennial engagement strategies for Fortune 500 companies, top military officials and presidential campaigns. I was fascinated by the conversation with Barry. He and his brother founded Cognician quite some years back.

And the idea is "Digital Coaching" to allow a scaling - especially in large organisations. Today they are able to create life-changing conversations amongst their clients - and all best on a software solution!

Find out more in my conversation with Barry!

More about Barry Barry Kayton is the co-founder of Cognician. Cognician helps companies to change the hearts and minds of employees. Barry and co-founder and brother, Patrick Kayton, began their partnership in 1999. They soon found reflection and self-expression yield higher learning gains than drill-and-kill methods. Encouraged by their impact on more than 500,000 students and 20,000 teachers, they asked "What if we can do this in software?" That was the spark which gave rise to Cognician. Cognician's digital coaching system delivers life-changing conversations throughout an organization. It's behavior-change at scale.

In this episode, I have the first millennial as a guest - Natalia Wiechowski (Think Natalia). Natalia and I share some routes because we are both originally from Germany.

Her path then led her to the Dubai where she has built her business as a speaker, impression management coach and digital influencer.

Natalia shared her story and journey how she was cool and successful on the outside but "dead" on the inside. It was a very genuine and honest conversation about challenges, struggle and the journey.

Her top tips:

Be authentic instead of liked.

Be a "work-in-progress" versus a "Masterpiece".

Focus on your "inner work" at least as much as on your "outer work".

Enjoy!

More about Natalia Think Natalia is a Dubai based, award-winning, bilingual Public Speaker, Impression Management Coach and Digital Influencer who radically changed her life(style) and career after a self-imposed sabbatical. After studying human behavior for over 12 years and spending almost nine months in isolation to find her purpose, the German social scientist (M.A.) and prospective Dr. phil. came to the conclusion that her mission is to help individuals - esp. entrepreneurs - impress themselves; and others. This insight encouraged Think Natalia to develop a new, unique training program, which combines the most successful elements out of performance coaching, personal branding and public relations. Besides this, the Edutainer enjoys spreading her message of hope and empowerment on public stages.
