Check out this LIVE talk that Josh Richardson, of Harvest Group, and I presented at our last NWA Marketplace Mission Consultation. The consultation was a very meaningful time and Josh was able to share some hard won wisdom that comes from his experience starting up an operation center for his employer, Harvest Group, in Tunisia. I told the group that 'Some wisdom can only be learned in the desert of Tunisia'. I share a quick intro to Theology of Work and explain the vision behind the Marketplace Mission Consultations... Josh lays out key guidance for any missional professional who is thinking of taking a job in a remote location or who is intentional about making a great commission difference in their current workplace. If you live in the Northwest Arkansas region feel free to join us for the next consultation on April 25th in Springdale, Arkansas. "As syringes and other random objects continued to fly in all directions, it was clear to me why the administration had wanted to be out of that room. We were beginning to question whether we had heard the Lord clearly on this idea. As quickly as we could, we began our performance and intermittently shared testimonies from our own lives about the work that God had done in each of our lives. No one was listening. It was chaos in the seats and a number of people in the crowd were beginning to manifest demons, as well. This frightened their fellow patients and increased the disorder." Follow along and hear my personal testimony of miracles of healing and restoration in the wildest environment you can imagine... a rally of 500 patients in a Ukrainian mental institution! So, what do you usually say when someone asks ‘how was work today?’, ‘anything interesting happen?’ We are spirit and physical matter so we must have a multidimensional answer to these questions. Often the point of failure believers experience is when they apply natural responses to spiritual challenges. We have to realize that are spiritual and natural beings. Not all issues in your metron can be ‘managed’ from a natural world approach. What exactly are you managing towards? You are managing your metron towards the righteousness of God and away from the works of darkness. All believers have been given authority, for a purpose. Authority to destroy the works of the devil. This is actually a significant part of your job description no matter what Metron you manage. If you are raising kids at home or a president guiding a country through a crisis, and you claim to follow Christ, you are commissioned to identify and stop works of darkness. When you are leading a company as a believer or working in a mainstream job, this is part of your mission. According to the original commission found in Genesis 2:15 you are instructed to keep, have charge of, guard, keep watch and ward, protect, save life.. in regards to the people, place and space that God has assigned to you. How are you going to bring a heavenly, life giving, redemptive approach to these coworkers... employees… vendors… foreign partners… false Christians… outright occult practitioners… this is the real world and Jesus has all the wisdom, power and grace you need to manage the atmosphere of your metron in a way that reverses the effects of the fall. We are commissioned to redeem and restore all that is broken in people, places and spaces.
Is it possible to actually run a Kingdom company? What does it look like to actually advance the Kingdom through event management? Follow along as I interview Cameron Magee, the owner of Avad3 as we talk about his backstory and how he has built company on the cornerstone of Theology of Work in scripture. Genesis 2:15 … says “Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate (avad) it and keep it.” Work was a commission given by God to mankind prior to the fall. Work is not a result of the fall or sin and it’s not a form of punishment. The word cultivate.. which is translated from the Hebrew word ‘avad’, means work and worship. This is where we derive our understanding of work being a form of worship to God. The name Avad3 is loaded with meaning and deep significance. Cameron and Avad3 are also hosting our upcoming Marketplace Mission Consultation on March 30! Highlights Include: What made you choose the name Avad3? The REAL impact and potential of SERVING The mistake of being ashamed of your faith in the marketplace Creating margin to go above and beyond in serving and meet felt needs How to create a Kingdom distinctive in your industry Managing Kingdom culture in your company that benefits Christian and non Christian employees and customers How do you manage your metron practically and effectively Advice for those wanting to live out from Godly passion and purpose in their companies

This is a really inspiring testimony that you need to hear. As I’ve gotten to know Micah I have seen the Lord in him and I’ve come to realize that Micah is one who doesn’t ‘work alone’ in his Job.
I’m sure you are all aware of the nightmare happening in Ukraine. There is truly evil that is at work in the world and we are seeing that fully displayed. Keep all the political leaders in prayer including our president. The human condition is truly fragile and desperately in need of the protection, restoration and renovation. If God did it before He can do it again. As I prayed about this situation in Ukraine I was reminded by the Lord about the similar circumstances that the Allies faced in WW2. If you haven’t read the book titled ‘REES HOWELLS INTERCESSOR’ by Norman Grubb, you will be incredibly challenged and strengthened in your faith. Rees Howell was a key figure in the Welsch revival of the early 20th century and went on to lead a profoundly effective prayer and intercession movement throughout WW2. I wanted to share an account of how God moved through Rees and his group that dramatically affected the outcome of key battles in WW2. This account of just 1 instance will encourage you that God can and Will work through the prayer and intercession of his people to address the course of human events. We need God to move powerfully in Ukraine and if he did it before he can do it again…
You may have seen the social media post from a pastor in Ukraine reporting specific answers to specific prayer. Well it really happened. Check out this interview with pastor Josh Wilson of New Heights Church in Bentonville Arkansas and former missionary to Ukraine, Brittney Boatman. God used these two individuals and a prayer meeting during the February 27 Sunday Service that affected the war in Ukraine. Check out their story. "Spiritual Authority is rooted in identity, expanded in intimacy and activated by faith." The best book I read in 2021 was Spiritual Authority by Dr. Rob Reimer and today I had the privilege of interviewing the author! This was epic. Rev. Dr. Reimer is Professor of Pastoral Theology at Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, NY. and the founding pastor of South Shore Community Church in Massachusetts. He is the founder of a ministry called Renewal International. Dr. Reimer is also an accomplished author. His books include Soul Care, River Dwellers, Spiritual Authority, Calm in the Storm, Deep Faith and Pathways to the King. Follow along as Dr. Reimer takes us on a deep dive into the concept and practice of spiritual authority! This was such a powerful discussion. You will love the way Dr. Reimer shares deep truths in an accessible way. He is so authentic and walks in the spiritual authority that he talks about. Check out these highlights: What is spiritual authority? His personal journey of discovering spiritual authority through a season of serious discontent Seeking the hand of God instead of the presence of God The root of spiritual authority : identity - intimacy - faith The distinction between Authority and Authoritarian Practical co-laboring with Christ Where does spiritual authority come from? How does one get it? How do you know if you or someone has spiritual authority Success is submission

This was my first experience with becoming the target of a full-blown riot. There was no reasoning with the crowd as they continued to shout, yell, and wave umbrellas in our direction. What had begun with our team quietly praying had now turned into a very dangerous situation. In my spirit I heard the Lord say, “You command this crowd.” Obediently, and without much consideration, I stepped forward and raised my hands up over the crowd and said, “In the name of Jesus, I command peace over this crowd!” “Kingdom exploits are always done in Jesus’ name, as Jesus’ ambassadors, as sons and daughters of the King. Authority is the Right to USE someone else’s power” - Quote from Dr. Rob Reimer on page 56 of his book titled ‘Spiritual Authority’ So there is a LOT going on in your metron that makes no sense. There is a lot that is not manageable using human wisdom, talent or academic knowledge. What makes it possible for everyone to be a metron manager in the Kingdom of God is that everyone who submits to Christ as Lord is authorized to use HIS power for HIS purposes. The believer finds themselves authorized to act and speak on behalf of the government … the government of heaven. Follow along as I share my own testimony of discovering the operational power and authority of God that is available to us in Christ Jesus. Friends, you can do this. You can learn to manage your sphere of influence with authority. I am going to continue to equip you as best as I can so that you can succeed as best as you can, in Christ Jesus. The first investment in this effort to equip you regarding spiritual authority is going to come strait from the expert. Dr. Rob Reimer, author of the best book on spiritual authority I’ve ever read. He will be featured on an upcoming episode of this podcast.

Today I get to share a real life personal testimony with you... a testimony of accidentally bringing Heaven into the job from Hell! If you’ve been following the program you have heard me interview a number of redemptive entrepreneurs who have made a real kingdom impact and brought transformation to various regions around the world. These are incredible people and inspiring stories. But you may be thinking “I’m never going to start a company… much less a missional enterprise so what does this theology of work stuff mean to me, in my day to day job?” That is a fair question. I would suggest that working at a job where you can’t prescribe a preferred culture but are subject to a worldly system, can actually be harder than succeeding as an entrepreneur. Follow along in this episode as I share a life shaping personal testimony of how I accidentally brought Heaven into a job from Hell. I was young, inexperienced and untrained, yet God used me to reach an entire company because of my willingness to represent Him in the midst of a workplace that was run by darkness. Hear the story of how I was confronted by an entire staff of angry people who were determined to get me to join them in corruption... and how God turned that moment around to defeat darkness. If it could happen through me it can happen through you! This crazy true story illustrates exactly why theology of work matters and why your vocation is the very means through which God establishes HIS kingdom.

2022 is officially upon us! We need to become CRISES PROOF going into this new year! As we welcome 2022 we have a pretty wild work world emerging. I just saw that there have been almost 5 million people quit their jobs here in the USA in 2021… yet we have also seen almost 5 million new companies started at the same time! As everyone seems to be trying to find a new way forward I’d like to share some thoughts to help you on this journey. One of the dynamics that has become evident as we muddle through the later part of this global pandemic is that our cultures have largely failed the stress test. Under pressure, everything we have relied on has been shown to be pretty unstable. Reliability is a rare commodity these days. In this global crack up a lot of people have decided to find a new way forward. This may looked like a mass exodus from social norms or the great resignation with millions of people moving on from their jobs. So In this new reality we are seeing a lot of people look to start their own businesses. People want to become entrepreneurs… innovators… rebuilders… this has become a huge aspect of the ‘new way forward’. This is a pretty big shock to the system economically but it is also a great opportunity for Christians to shape the culture of the workplace. Follow along as I share the secret to becoming a Crises Proof individual and shaping a Crises Proof corporate culture. Highlights Include: Affirmation of your desire to find a new way forward Building to survive the next Stress Test Why the collapse? The new way forward is actually an old way up Build it right from the beginning The culture of the new way forward Keys to Stability and the Non-Plussed life Spiritual 'down-line' in the workplace The trap of isolation The Key is not going it alone...even if you are doing it alone

We live in unsettled times. A global health crisis, social unrest, economic collapse and fear grip our nation and many others around the world. As part of my ongoing effort to equip you as a successful metron manager I felt from the Lord that I should share a story with you. A part of My story. This part of my story involves another time and another place. This time and place was also in the middle of unsettled and dangerous times. The soviet union, the once unimaginably strong and seemingly permanent structure had collapsed. Another kingdom of this world had been humbled and brought to ruin so that the King of Kings could bring justice and restoration. The Kingdom of God was advancing and God had called me right into the middle of the chaos. Many of you feel that you are right in the middle of the Chaos. Fear and loss seem to rule the day. It felt the same way in the early 1990s when I landed in Russia. You may feel that you are down to your last 5 dollars and you are on a one way ticket to hopelessness. You are likely asking God ‘Where are you?’ I want to share this story that I call ‘Faith and Five Dollars’ I will be reading directly from my book entitled Faith and Five Dollars. Five dollars, six countries, four months and a one way ticket to Southern Russia. This is a book about faith, obedience, and miracles. Many of you are praying for miracles to happen. I want to share this book in this series of podcasts as a testimony to the reality and power of God. Ephesians 1:19-20 says ‘I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the boundless greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might.’ I hope you enjoy this reading of ‘Faith and Five Dollars’.

Join me in a 2nd live presentation I shared with a group of professionals who are using my book [Managing Your Metron] and curriculum [Discover the Original Design of Vocation]. In this 2nd episode I am responding to 4 highly relevant questions regarding Theology of Work. I articulate answers and present perspective to this live audience from the content of my book Managing Your Metron. In response to the questions posed by this study group, I expound on 4 Big Questions: What led most Christians to have a compartmentalized worldview of vocation / work? How does my secular job possibly having eternal value? i.e. working for a government contractor, a minion in a large company, doing software programming all day long. Can you further unpack this conceptual framework of the Original Commission? Particularly about “Identity, Ability & Authority”? How is it possible that we can co-labor with God? Can you elaborate on the scriptural concept that “Creation is waiting for you”?
Join me in this live presentation I shared with a group of professionals who are using my book [Managing Your Metron] and curriculum [Discover the Original Design of Vocation]. In this episode I am introducing a bit about my own background and what led me, as a career missionary, to write a book on Theology of Work. As an introduction to this study group I present the 1st Big Concept of Theology of Work: The Original Commission. You will hear a fast paced discussion on the Original Commission and learn to evaluate your own view of work! In this presentation I cover the following topics from my book: What is a Metron Why I wrote this book and curriculum Are the 97% of the Body of Christ who are not called to vocational ministry doing something wrong by working? Introduction to the Biblical origins of the Theology of Work We have to work for creation to work Is work THE way or IN the way?
Listen as I interview Dr. James Hawkins PhD, LPC, about how we practically go about Managing our Metrons. Particularly in regards to knowing what is actually IN our sphere of responsibility and what is OUTSIDE that sphere. Dr. Hawkins shares a powerful personal testimony of how he was overwhelmed during this last year by taking on things that were not put into his Circle [Metron] by God... and how he was able to recalibrate. It would seem that now more than ever people are pressured into assuming responsibility for EVERYTHING they are made aware of in the world around them. People are regularly bombarded with political, societal, spiritual and cultural problems … and extreme pressure to ‘solve’ all of these local and global challenges. No one is designed to handle that level of responsibly other than God. This is obviously overwhelming and an unhealthy position to find oneself in … Dr. Hawkins shares a simple yet liberating process known as 'The Circle Talk'. In this discussion we cover the direct parallels with the concept of Metron and how we can avoid overload and anxiety. Highlights include: Knowing the Edges of your Metron Living within the limits of my responsibility before God Indicators of poor management of ones Metron Recognizing the signs and causes of powerlessness in our lives A liberating and empowering perspective on the parable of the Good Samaritan Managing your Social Guilt The Providence of Personal Proximity Tools for knowing what is IN and What is OUT of our Metron

Thriving Home Church and Small Group models? Honoring God while Honoring government? Giving the Holy Spirit something to do? Huge expansion of The Most Excellent Way addiction and recovery ministry? In this episode I want to talk about the topic of offense. In our day and age the false god that seems to have largely taken over our culture is what I would refer to as a Spirit of Offense… sadly many Christians are far more committed to managing their offense portfolio than they are to being transformed into the likeness of Christ. If we are going to be successful Metron Managers then we must recover our authority over this false god. As I share on this concept I believe you will find a way to reclaim your the condition of your soul and in a manner of speaking, become invincible. When I think of the idea of invincibility .. often superheroes come to mind. Why do we like superheroes? They are powerful, able to rise above it all, able to overcome, able to define their own path, able to resist evil, able to make things right, in a way they are iconic visions of what our original design tells us we are to be. Somehow we all know that we were born to wear a cape or ‘suit up' as they say in the super hero movies! We know this and the devil knows this... so how does he cut you down to size and harness your potential for his plans? He convinces us that we have a RIGHT to be offended. Let’s look at a famous type of a ‘superhero’ from Greek Mythology that was brought down by a tiny vulnerability: Achilles. In my book called Outreach Matters, I write more in-depth on this topic but for the sake of this discussion lets look at a short excerpt from the chapter titled ‘The Arrow of Offense’ ‘In Greek mythology, achilles was the hero of the Trojan War. He was the central character and the greatest warrior of Homer’s Iliad. Although the death of Achilles is not presented in the Iliad, other sources concur that Paris, who shot him in the heel with a poisoned arrow, killed him near the end of the Trojan War. Later legends state that Achilles’ body was invulnerable, except for his heel. Because of his death from a small wound in his heel, the term “Achilles’ Heel” has come to mean a person’s point of weakness. Like this description of Achilles from Greek mythology, believers can also have a point of extreme vulnerability. No matter how strong we are in the Lord or how mature we may be in our spiritual walk, it is possible for Christians to have a similar vulnerability. It is a place in your heart that, if struck by the poisonous arrow of offense, it will at the least immobilize you, and at worst destroy you. I have seen the damage that this arrow has caused, not only among new believers but also among the more senior figures in the body of Christ. Everyone will face a situation where arrows of offense are speeding towards this place of spiritual and emotional vulnerability. Of all the types of arrows that will be fired at you during the course of your life, none are more prevalent than the one that, once lodged in your Achilles’ Heel, causes you to take on offense toward another person.’ So … do I have a RIGHT to be OFFENDED or is offense an Achilles' Heel?

Does God actually care about your work? Have you ever wondered if God is even aware of what you do at work? Does it often feel like God may love you but he pretty much disdains your job or daily responsibilities? Or just doesn’t even notice what you do? When you think about your day to day life experience do you find yourself wanting to apologize or make excuses to God (or other people) or make some kind of justification for why you spend time doing something secular with your life? I would suggest that God is actually VERY interested in what you are actually working on in life. No matter how trivial or mundane your work may seem... I believe that God is actually very into the work of your hands. I had a profound revelation that God not only loves people but he loves their actual work. I want to share a story of how God showed me the depth of authentic LOVE he has for you AND for what you do. Your work really does matter to God. He Loves you but he is REALLY into your job. Mankind needs to align with their design and work from their SOUL! If we don’t realize that God is actually ‘into’ your work you won’t be ‘into’ your work... and the world around you will suffer.

This podcast covers the foundational topic of the Kingdom of God in Broken Edges Missiology. Listen as Jonathan Nowlen interviews pastor Kevin Rusack from New Heights Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Kevin has spent 10 years in ministry leadership with the local church and another 20 years serving as a leader in multiple mission organizations. Kevin is passionate about the Kingdom of God and in this interview he lays out a compelling Biblical perspective regarding the two 'book ends' of the Bible. Kevin say's "We need a renewed sense of purpose and hope. So many people in our world are asking the questions, “Why am I here? What is the meaning of my life? Is there anything higher than myself to live for? What we usually hear when people tell the Big story known as the Gospel – is that they often start with Gen. 3 with the Fall of Man and they end in Rev. 20 with the Lake of fire! If you don’t have the right starting place and ending place, there’s confusion in the middle and that is where we find ourselves today…" Join us as we explore the scripture to find out what we as believers and Metron Managers are actually aiming at! We are created in the image and likeness of our Father God, the ultimate creator, and builder of all things. God worked, and now we work. Work is spiritual and was ordained before the fall. It is not a result of sin or a form of punishment. Vocation is the very means through which God intends to build his Kingdom.
