Recently, I read an article that cited loneliness as a major factor in physical and mental health problems in our society. Research indicates that we are the most technologically advanced generation, ever...and yet we are the loneliest generation. It seems that the more connected and responsive we are - on multiple levels...we still feel disconnected and alone. Now, THAT is something to think about! I'm concerned about the impact loneliness has on our long term health and wellbeing.
Join us for Part 2 of my enlightening conversation with Dr. Pete Ronayne, as he discusses factors that can thrust us into loneliness, disconnectedness and that can lead to stress...and burnout. Dr. Pete discusses ways our resilience is tested - what to look out for and how to "Burn Bright" - regardless of your circumstances.
Dr. Pete's humor, intellectual delivery and practical approach makes the complex topics of neuroscience and neuroleadership understandable and applicable, regardless of your position or industry. Everyone will benefit from this conversation.
Listen for Dr. Pete's Call to Action for individuals and he also shares a Call to Action for organizations - ways to support the resilience of their staff and teams.

So much is said and discussed about mental health, stress, and resilience - especially now. The impact of the "pandemic," geopolitical discord, and so much uncertainty - has challenged how we feel, how we show up, and even who we are. Many people question, "What's next?" or ponder "their next chapter." I thought to bring back conversations I've had with three key thought-leaders in "Resilience" and "Health and Wellness" to guide us in deeper conversations.
Our theme for the next month and a half is "Invest Now for Greatness Tomorrow." Today, Dr. Pete Ronayne - Portfolio Manager - Center for Creative Leadership, begins his conversation about "Resilience" and the neuroscience around burnout, stress, and how to bounce-back and burn bright. Listen as he shares profound and practical content that will help us all be more resilient and what signs to be aware of when we're stressed.
Dr. Pete's humor, intellectual delivery and practical approach makes the complex topics of neuroscience and neuroleadership understandable and applicable, regardless of your position or industry. Everyone will benefit from this conversation.

Welcome to another month of Influencer Podcasting. This month, we showcase individuals and organizations, doing phenomenal work in their communities and for their neighbors. Social responsibility is an ethical process in which individuals are accountable for fulfilling their civic duty, and the actions of an individual must benefit the whole of society. In this way, there must be a balance between economic growth and the welfare of society and the environment.
Our theme for August - September, "Social Responsibility: Giving Back On and With Purpose", offers the platform needed to share strategies, tactics and projects that are changing lives and communities. Given the current atmosphere of social unrest, there are men, women and organizations that have found "pain points" and are addressing that need.
Our guest today is Marcus Thomas - Dream Team Director - Mount Zion Baptist Church (Greensboro, NC) - the largest predominantly African American Church in the Greensboro area— under the leadership of Senior Pastor Bishop Bryan J Pierce, Sr. In his role, Marcus leads a team of over 2,000 volunteers. He provides leadership, encouragement, coaching, and service opportunities in the community. He also leads an expansive community outreach campaign called “Serve The City” that provides gas, clothes, financial assistance, and programs to people in need within the Greensboro community.
Marcus significantly expanded this city-wide outreach initiative by creating new public and private partnerships in the region and continues this work today. Marcus has a vast resumé of experiences that inform his passion and leadership around social responsibility and giving back on and with purpose.
Listen as this young man outlines a strategic approach to giving back that engages every generation and socio-economic area of Greensboro. His social responsibility best practices can be used by anyone and any organization...to impact any community. His perspective on philanthropy is both refreshing and enlightening.

Welcome to Episode 1 of our first "Practical Wisdom" podcast. "Practical Wisdom" is the foundation of CommonSense Leadership and offers applicable support, reminders, and lessons learned that can benefit listeners on their leadership and life journeys. There is so much to be learned and shared through "practical wisdom", as evidenced in our first segment on "Finding Your Permission". "What would you do, if you could do anything?" "What feeds your soul?" and "Are you talking yourself out of your blessing?"
In this episode, I share the path that brought me to my dream of this podcast. I needed PERMISSION to move from "thinking and talking about my dream" to actually "being about my dream". I share the wisdom of friends and the strength of their concern for me, to help me get to this place. Take a listen and think about your "something" dream or aspiration. Wishing you all the best.
Check out my friend and "questionner", Sara King at https://optimuminsights.com.
