Today (finally! the technical issues and building construction have been a thorn in my side - I’m so sorry!) we are talking about splitting the sleeves off from the body plus a clever use of the provisional caston in the middle of the round. You will love how this simple technique makes finishing your sweaters just a matter of weaving in some ends.

Today I’m sharing some favorite colorwork techniques (two-handed knitting, anyone?) plus the way I do provisional castons. If crocheting a chain takes you out of your comfort zone, my provisional two-tail long-tail cast-on might just do the trick for you.

Ooh, it’s time to talk a little bit about yarn. My favorite! Today’s mantra is: Know thyself (or thy intended recipient). When choosing yarn, it helps to consider what kind of sweater you WANT and how you will take care of it. Different fibers and their preparation will affect the yarn and, in turn, your final knit.

Blocking! Today I’m doing it with the help of my washing machine (I know - I’m the luckiest New Yorker to have a machine in my apartment!). I do believe that blocking takes your knitted item from homemade to handcrafted, so don’t skip this step. Today we will cast on for the body with with the Two-Tail Long-Tail Cast-on, then we will move our working yarn over to the end of the button band, as well as go over making buttonholes. Just a reminder that buttonholes are made on both button bands. And if your row gauge is different than the pattern gauge, be sure to account for that when creating your buttonholes as we work our way up the body.
