Republican, Democratic, Tea Party, Independent, Church of God and Christ, Latter Day Saints, Baptist, Pope, WHATEVER…God is not down with no one’s party. Why say this? Because, many people try to control where God is or is not. The truth is, God is not concerned with anyone’s affiliation, He is more concerned with where the individual person’s commitment is to Him and their level of obedience to Him. Forget all that rah-rah talk of an organization, where is your heart when it comes to the things of God. Because you can say all day that you love God and that God is your foundation, but your actions will always tell the truth. At the end of the day, God doesn’t care about your image; He cares about your reality.
This lesson focuses on the rich young ruler. Specifically, the difference between following God out of obligation and following God because that is the choice you have made for your life. When we only allow ourselves to think of things from a temporal mindset, it is easier to justify the actions of the rich ruler choosing to hold on to his wealth; however, when we look at it from an eternal mindset, we see that the treasure laid up for us in heaven is waiting for us to choose to accept God.

Why would you let anyone stop you from doing what God called you to do? Too many times we allow the clout of someone else’s title, or position, to make us feel that they know more about what God has commissioned us to do then we do ourselves. The truth, God, has never cared about a title nor has God ever cared if other’s have signed off on the task He gave you. Learn to be free from what others do to stop you and realize if God released you to work; go forth with reckless abandon.
