We live in weird times. You already knew that. But things have gotten so much stranger.
Tiger King has been a smash hit on Netflix. Its a wild (true) story of a zoo owner (Joe Exotic) trying to kill an animal rights activist (Carole Baskin). To make it extra spicy, there is a theory that Carole may have killed her ex and fed him to tigers. Its a roller coaster.
Among the gold in the series is that Joe Exotic (who is in jail) had a music career. He apparently didn’t write or sing the songs…but did release them under his name and made music videos for them. This includes a song called “Here Kitty Kitty” which is all about Baskin and whether she did or did not kill her husband
Amazing. To make this even better The Offspring have now released a cover of that song!! They said “We are going a little stir crazy these days & wanted to do something fun to put a smile on our faces & hopefully on some of yours too. Here Kitty Kitty was originally by the Clinton Johnson band & not by anyone in that recent doc we all got caught up in.”
It actually sounds pretty good. They have masks on and are distanced from each other. Watch this magic.

Puddle of Mudd are a beloved band of the early 2000’s. ‘Blurry‘ and ‘She Hates Me‘ remind us all of better times. A few months ago the band recorded a cover of “Nirvana – About A Girl.” For whatever reason it hasn’t really been noticed until now…but oh boy.
Many have tried to make it all the way through, few have succeeded.

Another Canadian band has come out with a tribute to Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip.
Fucked Up, who won the Polaris Music Prize back in 2009, have come out with a version of “In View.” The band actually has a history with Gord, as he appeared on one of their songs back in 2014.

Billie Eilish has had yet another big week. This time she turned 18 years old…AND was the latest guest on Carpool Karaoke with James Corden.
They cruise the streets of LA while singing a bunch of her songs. She also breaks out the ukulele and shows off her pipes. They also make a pit-stop at her house. What a ride.

This is pretty awesome! A family in Toronto decided to make a special video to send to friends and family for a holiday greeting.
They decided to do a take on the Beastie Boy’s “Intergalactic” video. What was originally intended for a small group of people has now gotten nearly 100,000 views.

Today is Billie Eilish‘s 18th birthday! She has accomplished a lot for someone who can just now buy a pack of darts. She has a #1 album, a string of #1 songs, a sold out tour and 6 Grammy nominations. Nothing to sneeze at.
She wrote and recorded all her music with her brother…who is a successful musician himself, Finneas.
They just sat down with Rolling Stone and broke down how they wrote their biggest song to date…Bad Guy. Its pretty cool to see how much time and thought went into every detail of the song.

Blink-182 have released a new holiday song! This one is called “Not Another Christmas Song.” It sounds pretty upbeat but may not exactly fill you with cheer. Take a listen!
Its not the first Christmas song they’ve released either. They released another on in the early 2000’s

Billy Talent surprised us with a new song today.
It’s called “Forgiveness I + II” and is off an upcoming new album. We don’t know much about the record just yet.
The song itself is nearly 7 minutes long and at one point features a sax solo! CHECK IT OUT

Alexisonfire are set to return to Edmonton on January 22nd for a show with The Distillers at Rogers Place.
Front man George Pettit called into Sonic to talk about the upcoming show. He also talks about what else the band may have cooking, and how the band is now his 2nd job…as he is a full time firefighter!

Dave Grohl is one of the busiest guys in music but recently took time to stop by Sesame Street!
Watch him jam with Big Bird and Elmo singing about making new friends. What a guy.
FYI: Dave and the Foo Fighters are said to be working on a new album as we speak.

A Canadian Supergroup has dropped the first track from their new band! They are called “Anyway Gang” and features 4 well known Canadian musicians. Sam Roberts, Menno Versteeg of Hollerado, Dave Monks of Tokyo Police Club and Chris Murphy of Sloan! That is a stacked lineup!
They say they have recorded a full album. It’ll be out on November 29th.

The wait is over!!! This morning TOOL hit us with their first new song in over a decade. The last release was “10,000 Days” which came out in the spring of 2006!
Its the title track off their upcoming album “Fear Inoculum.” The song clocks in at 10 minutes long, which will par for the course for this album. Guitar player Adam Jones says the record is over 80 minutes long and only has 7 songs. Do the math, that means each song is pretty beefy. The rest of the album is out August 30th.

Blink-182 have been teasing us forever…and finally we know what is up with the new record.
Today they revealed the new album will be called “Nine” and its coming on September 20th. Its a very Blink-182 name because “Nine” is really their 8th full album. It is the 2nd album without Tom Delonge, as Matt Skiba remains on guitar/vocal duty.
We’ve heard 3 songs off the album so far, and it looks like a new one called Darkside will be out tomorrow.
