A weekly podcast featuring members of the Unimelb Anime and Manga club with a focus on anime and manga (duh).
Will probably be weekly.
We're recruiting!
The turtle fighters sat down and talked about the current state of the ways people tend to gain access to the anime episodes. We talked about the options available, their requirements, and several contentious points.

No news, no Stooge's Corner (eek), no post credit. It's just the Fighting Turtles crew having an impromptu chat about stuff that's been happening lately. With comiket92 going on at the time of recording, we touched a bit onto the grey area within the doujin field itself, reminiscent about the effect it brings to certain fandom, and once more lament on the anime industry as a whole.
Talkers: Jeroz, Watari, Stooge Editor: Jeroz
A short episode where the crew talks about what the general consensus of "what makes a show anime" is between ourselves. As we go through some grey areas we shared our thoughts on those titles as to whether they are anime or not. Also there's yet another Kemono Friends Spoiler Review in light of recent twitch marathon, this time featuring Jeroz's full perspective.

You love lists, we love lists, everyone loves lists. And this isn't just your ordinary top10 list no. We're doing a top 100 list as voted by the NHK viewers as part of their 100 years celebration. This time we have yet another special guest in Milkshake who provides some perspectives from the Asian scene in regarding to some shows' popularity, and Knight is back again. It is either the most insightful episode into the Japanese scene, or the most useless episode by running down mundane commentaries across all those shows, I'll let you decide.
Stooge's Corner: Ga:Rei Zero
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Limyaael, Stooge, Knight, Milkshake Editors: Chewyfitz, Jeroz
Yes there was a week's break since we were busy doing weeb karaoke instead of podcasting. Yes it was a fun session, thanks for asking.
This week, the crew gathered together and sit down to talk about their approaches when dealing with new series, and the pitfalls of the famous "3 eps rule" and various other practises. While those guidelines are good in theory, it may be more troublesome than you'd realised.
Stooge's Corner: Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Limyaael, Stooge Editors: Chewyfitz, Jeroz

Time for another movie review! This time it's the other 2016 anime movie that starts with K and isn't Kimi no Na wa. It's Koe no Katachi! We also have two more guests joining with us this week in Stuffie and Knight who gives us their opinions on the movie as well. Other than Jeroz being a major negative nancy everyone seems to have positive opinions on this movie, but is there more?
Spoilers starts from 43:46 until 1:15:38

You thought we won't talk about it, but no, we're going to discuss the recent release of the Sword Art Online movie "Ordinal Scale". It will be focused on the hilarity, the plot-holes, and the importance of proper coding methodology. Don't worry, we'll be gentle.
Stooge's Corner: Samurai Flamenco
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Stooge, Limyaael, Editors: Chewyfitz, Jeroz Not present yet: Naufal, Watari
This week, a hefty episode discussing subbing, but mostly about the different aspects translation. This is a long episode, so get yourself comfortable. We also have a special guest with us this week, in the form of the former former club president Tactics.

Stooge's Corner: Aria the Animation

Coming off the news of the false alarm, the crew dives into talking about the way the western anime community gather their resources outside of watching anime itself. We talked about the proper channels to obtain news, the pitfalls of relying MAL, and of the exploitation on the wider casual community from the likes of Youtube. Turned out kind of like a ranty episode, but there's still some good information within this discussion.
Limyaael had to be connected via Discord, hence some syncing issues.
Stooge's Corner: FLCL
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Stooge, Limyaael (over discord) Editors: Chewyfitz, Jeroz Not present: Naufal, Watari
This week we had an full session talking about the bizarre popularity of Kemono Friends, which then branched onto the pros and cons of CGI in anime, and just usage of CGI in general. This should hopefully clear up some misconceptions,
Stooge's Corner: Mayoiga
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Limyaael, Stooge, Editors: Chewyfitz, Jeroz Not present: Naufal, Watari
The intended topic was sports but we ended up getting a TINY bit sidetracked talking about current airing stuff. :P
In any case, this week we tackled sports with a focus on Ping Pong: The Animation. We discuss and compare other sports shows to it (pretty unfair I know) and just wrap our heads around what makes a sports show 'good'. Before we got into that however, we talked about what's going on this season (i.e. I whine about Kuzu no Honkai).
All in all, business as usual for the Fighting Turtles.
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Limyaael,Stooge, Watari Editors: Chewyfitz, Watari Not present: Naufal
Tu-tu-ru~!
This week we dissect* another show for you and for once we don't all hate it! It's Steins;Gate! The widely acclaimed and wildly praised! We dive right in, discussing what we enjoyed and even try disproving WRONG OPINIONS about the show (shout out to Viklandian).
*(By 'dissect' we mean have a pretty casual and laid back conversation)
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Limyaael, Stooge, Watari Editors: Chewyfitz, Watari Person with WRONG OPINIONS: Viklandian
CONTINUE?
...well, I kinda have to, otherwise there'd be no description. Anyhoo, in this episode we talk anime adaptations of video games! We're excluding Visual Novels aside from a brief mention at the start since otherwise we'd be there for a good three hours. The discussion encompasses how the anime incorporate game elements (or not), how to handle silent or not-so-silent protagonists, and just what we felt were good and bad about the adaptations we had seen. Stooge's Corner this week looks at Usagi Drop.
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz,Limyaael, Stooge, Watari Editors: Chewyfitz, Watari On Hiatus: Naufal
If a character is pretty much unbeatable/all-powerful/etc, where's the narrative tension?
This week, we explore this topic through some of the examples which exist in mostly action oriented anime (though we discuss non-action overpowered characters as well). What constitutes an overpowered character? How do they affect the story? How do they grow? Do they grow? All this in an hour-ish long podcast.
Oh and Naufal isn't here this week. Hope he can make it next week...
Talkers: Grady, Jeroz, Limyaael,, Stooge, Watari Editors: Chewyfitz, Watari
With the new season rolling around, we have a belated episode on the first impression. It's quite a doozy season, with several fun surprises, interesting sequels, and more cute girls doing cute things.

New Background Music this episode * Chaos;Child VN Opening * Soukou Akki Muramasa OST: Clouds of Sorrow * Various OP/EDs from the series * Millennium Actress soundtrack: Run
Better late than never!
This episode we're doing a reviewcast of Re:Zero. It's an arc by arc dissection so naturally - spoilers! Nearly a year after it first aired, we go through the entire show all the while talking about the good and the bad and some more of the bad. Because we can't like things that Jeroz like.
Talkers: Chewyfitz, Jeroz, Limyaael, Naufal, Stooge, Watari Editors: Chewyfitz, Watari
We're back with our first 'cast of the year and it's a long 'un!
We look at the year that was 2016 for anime. The good, the bad and the disappointments are discussed in earnest (as can be seen from the length of the podcast) before we end with final thoughts and Stooge's corner (this week talking very, very briefly about Teekyuu).
Talkers: Grady, Stooge, Limyaael, Jeroz, Naufal, Watari (me) Editors: Chewyfitz, Watari (still me)
Happy holidays! Merry Christmas! Whatever! It's Episode 10!
