He had over 400+ yards of total offense and five TDs. 09:45 - Arnold talks about his Guyer Wildcats and their chances to make their third Division II State Title game in the last four years. Also, Arnold breaks down how they divide the districts into divisions come playoff time. 15:00 - How playing against five-star DB Peyton Bowen, four-star DB Ryan Yaites, and 2024 four-star DB Eli Bowen in spring and fall camp have helped Arnold and his Guyer offense. 23:00 - Arnold talks about when he started playing QB and why he started playing that position. He also talked about how he played on the same little league team as 2023 four-star DL Kayden McDonald when they were seven to ten years old. All before moving to Texas and playing there ever since. His thoughts on OU chances to land McDonald. 34:00 - How he takes being the leader and face of the Sooners 2023 class, and how he likes dealing with every recruit and pushing for all the targets to join him in Norman. Can it get to be difficult? Does he embrace it knowing he is the five-star QB and potential face of the program, too, in the future? 36:30 - His relationship with Sooners QB Dillon Gabriel and what his thoughts are on Gabriel returning for 2023 season (assuming that happens), so would that play into things for him or does Arnold think that his a good thing to learn behind Gabriel before he competes for the starting job? 40:00 - Arnold addresses the Notre Dame rumors. He addresses the UGA rumors and talks about how locked in he is with Oklahoma. Arnold also talks about how his Guyer offense is very, very similar to what Jeff Lebby and the Sooners do on offense, with his head coach being GA's with Lebby at Baylor back in the day. The two are very good friends and former roommates, as well. 46:00 - Arnold on what made him choose OU and what else he was looking for in schools. Interesting enough, Arnold says NIL was at the bottom, along with location. His answers were very intriguing and something any fan would be interested to hear. Arnold said, "I can't think of a better fit for me in college football (than OU)." 54:14 - Arnold on his thoughts on the Sooners' 2023 class and what he thinks of its makeup so far. How much of it is recruiting or smack talk about each others schools? 1:06:00 - If Arnold hadn't picked the Sooners, where would he have picked or committed? A certain fan base isn't feeling too lucky after hearing Arnold's answer. He adds there is no way he plays anywhere else than OU (if you see video of interview, you will see a ton of OU stuff in background and more). 1:11:32 - Podcast ends

Post-Game Podcast: Sooners beat 19th-ranked Jayhawks after Dillon Gabriel's return| Can the defense get back to early season success?| Offense was DOMINANT| Big recruiting visit weekend| Could OU lose a commit soon?

00:00 - Podcast intro 02:00 - Sooners QB Dillon Gabriel is BACK and he made his presence KNOWN with a HUGE day after missing the last 1.5 games! Brandon and Parker talk about how his return might prove he is the most valuable player in college football TO HIS TEAM! His return helped OU put 701-yards on a good defense and the 19th-ranked team in the nation. 10:00 - The defense showed improvement but has so, so much still left to improve upon. Still, big plays were made by CJ Coldon, Dashaun White, and a few others today. How much does getting DG back help the Sooners' defense? We know DG is an offensive guy, but his presence means so much to both sides of the ball. Also, the duo talks about how to take small victories in things after the last three weeks' performances on defense and names young players like Robert Spears-Jennings and R Mason Thomas making a case to be bigger roles. 17:30 - Sooners' offensive line has been good and physical in the OU run game, and Eric Gray and Jovantae Barnes have had some big-time success because of Andrew Raym, Anton Harrison, Wanya Morris, Chris Murray, and McKade Mettauer have been really good on the line of scrimmage. Texas knew all OU could do was run the ball, and still, in the wildcat, the Sooners were moving the ball on Texas some due to OL's physicality. With Gabriel back, it helped even more with the threat of the pass and the fact OU's offensive line has started to "mesh," according to Anton Harrison. Talk a bit about what next year's OL could look like, too. 31:00 - Defensive line has to continue to improve and get WAY better. R Mason Thomas was flashing and causing some problems for KU QB Jason Bean, but there was a lack of QB contain at times and no pass rush from others on the DL to give Bean all day at times. Can't have that and be successful on defense. Others that played well at times were Jalen Redmond, Marcus Stripling, and a few others. 35:00 - How did Brandon and Parker feel the linebackers and defensive backs play? Who and where could there be an improvement? Key Lawrence play adequate? Shuffling of personnel help some? No pass rush hinders the DB's and Brandon and Parker discuss that. 43:00 - Players and Brent Venables talked about resting the players more this past week. How much did that help both physically and mentally on the field today and improve things in the end? They talk about BV quotes on that from post-game presser and dive into how that balance of resting and preparing can co-exist! 49:00 - Brandon and Parker give grades to all positions and overall team grades after the Sooners' 52-42 win over 19th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. 1:00:00 - Big recruiting weekend with official visitors like four-star EDGE/DE Tausili Akana, four-star DL Kayden McDonald, and four-star DL commit Derrick Leblanc. Also, unofficial visitors like five-star QB commit Jackson Arnold with four-star LSU DB commit Ryan Yaites on campus Saturday. Also, they touch on 2023 four-star DE commit Colton Vasek visiting Texas.

Things like a big visit weekend with four-star DL commit Derrick Leblanc, four-star EDGE/LB Tausili Akaka, and four-star DL Kayden McDonald on their official visits. 09:00 - Sooners' commit Erik McCarty impresses Parker he talks about how good he thinks he will be and is right now. And can this 2023 be the program-changing class they are expected to be? 15:00 - Do we expect one of the visitors this week to be in the Sooners' class by NSD? If so, who? What will it take to make that happen? How big will this class be, and will the turnover be like this off-season with Oklahoma? Brandon and Parker talk about "the purge" and how BV is telling people he will help them leave if they don't want to be bought in. 30:00 - How naive were we to not see this coming after last years internal issues on the team and those same players being around still? How could we not see this coming? Brandon and Parker admit their naiveness in all of this, too. 38:00 - If the Sooners lose, can they win another game this year or will they end up 3-9? 41:00 - What young guys do we expect to play a ton this week? When will the embarrassment stop for Sooners after Texas STOMPS Oklahoma 49-0|Can it be fixed in 2022 season?| Three things that need fixed for OU to win| Recruiting fallout?| MORE

Topic Timestamps: 00:00 - Podcast intro before Brandon Drumm and Parker Thune go scorched earth on the Sooners' play vs Texas and where this program is right now! 04:00 - How much worse can it get? Has Brent Venables' team quit already because Parker says it seems to be that way from the field view? No excuses, even without two main key players like Dillon Gabriel and Billy Bowman out. The program had so many bad "first times" in Texas's beating of Oklahoma. 09:00 - Talent (excluding backup QB, as we have seen with Davis Beville) is there, but is this a personnel problem? Is the Sooners' staff not playing the right guys in the right spots? Can this team gain the confidence to make a run? They looked dejected at the post-game podium. What's the issue with this team's football IQ? Examples of ineptness are talked about. 15:50 - Offense... W.T.F? WildWillie (Brayden Willis) and GrayCat (Eric Gray) worked so well between the '20s (20-yard line to 20-yard line), so why get away from it when you're in the red zone? And you lost all newness after halftime to surprise Texas, so why not have a wrinkle or two that isn't a STUPID jump pass? Why go back to Davis Beville? What can OU do offensively when Gabriel comes back? Brandon and Parker discuss how they need to feature Jalil Farooq, Brayden Willis, and Marvin Mims at ALL times they aren't running Gray, Marcus Major, or Jovantae Barnes. Get them out and space, and let those guys go to work! 26:00 - Is this team worn out? Venables talks about it, and Brandon cites a well-placed source that said similar to him last week and went into detail on that. 28:30 - Brandon and Parker name three things on the offense and defense that need fixed NOW for Oklahoma to start getting back on track, if that is possible at all! Names like Jaren Kanak, Gentry Williams, Woodi Washington staying at safety, Kani Walker, CJ Coldon, four-man fronts, or being multiple IF YOU'RE GOING TO CLAIM BEING MULTIPLE! Also, finding a different backup QB like Nick Evers, General Booty? Micah Bowens? 40:00 - Are there some older guys still not buying in or giving their all for this squad? Brandon and Parker discuss. 45:00 - What is this team's identity? Do they have one? How do they get one in mid-season if they don't have one already? And how much of this is personnel on defense and the fact the players were recruited for a different type of defense? Players are talented but look nothing like the players BV had at Clemson. 51:00 - Recruiting fallout? Is there one? Brandon and Parker talk over/under on two decommits. Answer may shock some and may shock others, but they break it down. The Colton Vasek rumors discussed. 56:40 - Will there be a change in how things are done? Could OU change some things up on the defensive side? Will BV take over full control of the defense? If there is a "fall guy," who will that be? 1:06:24 - Podcast over

PostGame: TCU takes Sooners to woodshed 55-24, so how does Venables and his staff fix this problem?

TimeStamps:

00:00 - The podcast starts and Brandon and Parker go off right from the get-go. 03:00 - Dillon Gabriel and Damond Harmon injury updates 05:00 - Brandon and Parker are at a loss for words when it comes to talking about what they witnessed vs TCU. 07:00 - Should OU look to a four-man front instead of a three-man front? Brandon discusses personnel with Isaiah Coe, Jalen Redmond, Kelvin Gilliam, and others playing the interior defensive line. And he asks when they start playing Jaren Kanak more. When will they start to give players like Robert Spears-Jennings a look at safety? What about the younger players in general and giving them a look to see what they can bring to the table on Saturdays? 11:00 - Injuries, injuries, injuries... 13:00 - Parker calls his shot and says this about OU performance the rest of the year (listen to hear his prediction)... How can you recruit so many four and five-star players and struggle like this? And the question is asked if the Sooners lack of intricate defense under Grinch causes the in-depth playbook of Venables' defense to be too vast for some? 18:00 - Dillon Gabriel looked to be pressing and his passes looked high and too far on multiple occasions, so did a certain sect of fans going after him (unjustly vs Kstate, according to Brandon and Parker) cause him to have some added pressure that he put upon himself. Or, did the moment put pressure on him? Either way, that was rough to watch before he was cheapshot with the targeting hit. 23:30 - TCU followed Kstate blueprint vs OU with a lot of six man lines on offense ( leaving TE in). How can OU combat that moving forward, because if they don't, it's going to be a long year. And can playing the younger guys help in multiple facets? R Mason Thomas return make a difference? Gracen Haltom? Jaren Kanak? Robert Spear-Jennings good enough yet? Something has to give and soon! 34:00 - Recruiting aftermath with the losses? Does the 2023 class feel that BV will fix things when they arrive? Before? What have we heard so far? What about five-star QB Jackson Arnold? Four-star DE Colton Vasek? Others? 41:00 - Does the residual effect of previous defensive regime's cause the defense to have some PTSD type reaction when things start to go bad? Big play given up and then say, "here we go again." And then things just continue to avalanche? 46:00 - Brandon starts to name where all of the starters were ranked coming out of high school. It's impressive, but also very concerning that OU has this much trouble with this much talent, no matter who the DC is or who is running the defense. Mike Stoops. Alex Grinch. And last two games, Brent Venables. 51:00 - Off the cuff final record predictions from Brandon and Parker. They don't feel it's set in stone, but it's plausible. 55:00 - Final thoughts from Brandon and Parker.

Sooners' first road test of the season @ historic rival Huskers| Who is Nebraska after coaching changes? Should Oklahoma expect the unexpected with NU having nothing to lose?|What does OU need to do to win?|4-star/5-star recruiting targets updates

Oklahoma was bland on offense, and head coach Brent Venables wanted to see some strain and OU's reaction last week against Kent State. BV got just that with the Sooners' offense struggling until the final minutes of the first half. Oklahoma's offense kicked it in gear, but this was the second week in a row that the Sooners' defense was dominant from start to finish. They now lead the nation in tackles for loss (23) and touchdowns given up (one) on the season. Oklahoma is also third in sacks with nine total now. So after a bad first half of offense and a really good second half vs Kent State, in a 33-3 win, what do the Sooners need to do to beat the Huskers on the road? This will be OU's first road test, and with Nebraska firing Scott Frost and hiring interim head coach Mickey Joseph, who will Nebraska be? Should the Sooners expect the unexpected? What does OU need to do on offense and defense to pull out the win? Can the Sooners keep the Husker faithful quiet the majority of the game and stem momentum? And who needs to step up for the Sooners to come out with a victory on Saturday? All that, with predictions and recruiting updates on four-star ATH Malachi Coleman, four-star DL Jordan Renaud, five-star DL David HIcks, four-star DL Kayden McDonald, and four-star LB Tausili Akana in this latest episode of the OUinsdider: Under the Visor Sooners Podcast!

Topic TimeStamps: 00:00 - Podcast intro 02:00 - Quick rundown of Sooners' 33-3 victory over Kent State. What was good and what was bad in Oklahoma's second win of the season? 10:00 - Nebraska game breakdown. What does OU have to do this weekend on the road to pull off the win? What do the firing of Scott Frost and the hiring of interim HC Mickey Joseph do for the Huskers this weekend? Can the Sooners attack the Huskers' defense that has been proven early to have the propensity to give up the big play in the run game and passing game? 16:00 - Nebraska fans with renewed confidence and feel they should beat OU this weekend. Where does the confidence come from, and why are some discounting BV's defense? 24:00 - The challenge the Huskers' offense and Casey Thompson brings to OU's defense. And can the Huskers break through the single-digit losses to upset OU? 31:00 - Can the Huskers control the clock as they did in Norman last season? Will BV's defense allow that, or will they force Nebraska to be more assertive and fast-paced? 37:30 - Sooners players that need to step up on offense and defense? Players of the game on both sides were predicted by Brandon and Parker. And why they picked them. The duo predicts the final score and winner between Oklahoma and Nebraska. Will that have a huge impact on how things go from here on out for Nebraskas, and most specifically, the Sooners game this weekend? If so, how will it impact things? What do we expect from OU this week vs Nebraska? Standouts from OU/Kent State game? Oklahoma comes out guns blazing to jump on top of UTEP 21-0 early on in the Sooners initial game of the 2022 season. Oklahoma ended up winning 45-13 in their home opener, with Dillon Gabriel, Eric Gray, Marcus Major, Brayden Willis and Gavin Freeman all had big plays on offense on Saturday to help the Sooners roll. The side everyone wanted to see was Brent Venables' defense and they came to play. Sure tackling in open space, six sacks from the Sooners' front seven. UTEP had 51 pass attempts and completed 31 of them, but only averaged 5.8 a completion. Brandon Drumm and Parker Thune discuss the secondary and why how they covered was by design, along with the huge day from DE Reggie Grimes. He was joined by safety Billy Bowman, LB Danny Stutsman, DE Ethan Downs and freshman EDGE rusher R Mason Thomas as standouts on defense. They discuss what made them standouts, along with other young players on both sides of the ball that made their mark and more!

00:00 - Podcast intro 02:30 - Atmosphere/ intro and "They set the standard, we defend it," mantra by Brent Venables in the intro video before the Sooners ran out. Drumm poses the question "will they ever ask Muleshoe" to be in the video 10-20 years from now? His history is a part of OU football good or bad with Big 12 Titles. Both he and Parker concede that won't happen anytime soon and both admit they still dislike how Muleshoe handled things. Drumm admits it was a troll question, but will have people talking one way or another. 14:30 - Atmosphere was great! It was scorching hot, but the older crowd stayed and student section left with 9 min left in second quarter in a two possession game. The history has been the same for several years with that section. Drumm says they are VITAL to atmosphere in stadium and help make it LOUD. They talk about how stupid that is... 57:00 - Player Tribune BS and Muleshoe's narcissistic nature comes to the forefront. Brandon drops some curse words, so beware if kids are around. The duo disagrees with fans sentiment and deems it uncalled for to chant the name of the backup QB, but also say boos are different than a chant specifically calling for the backup by name. Bad look on national TV and for Sooners recruiting.

17:00 - Brandon states that it is probably a good deal that OU isn't playing at home for a bit. Pressure on him after the WVU game in Norman is high. Alums like Kenneth Murray coming to Rattler's defense. He is more loved than fans think.

19:45 - Recruiting impact of fans chanting and boos?

22:00 - Positives? How about a DOMINANT defensive performance from Alex Grinch's Speed'D' and only allowing 226 TOTAL YARDS from West Virginia and 160-yards passing from WVU QB Seth Doege. Is it time for Sooners fans to give it up to the Sooners' defense?

28:15 - Would you rather the defense be the reason OU is 4-0 or the offense be the reason if you had to pick one? Brandon and Parker both say defense due to the confidence they have in Lincoln Riley and Spencer Rattler to figure it out and get it going this season.

30:30 - Lincoln Riley audio on what his initial thoughts on the game were and obviously the fan chants, defense, where he feels they are as a team heading into the first road game at KSU. Parker and Brandon discuss Riley's thoughts. Parker also talks about how the 2020 version of Oklahoma loses this game and likely the Nebraska game, too. Says other teams might have lost and did so in similar circumstances.

38:00 - Weirdness of college football in 2021.

43:00 - Brandon and Parker name their top 4 teams in Big 12 and Top 5 teams in CFB after four weeks. Brandon also reiterates what he has said from week one, and that is the fact he has felt the WVU, Kansas State, and Texas games were the most important stretch of the OU schedule.

1:05:00 - More weirdness of CFB in 2021 talk. Twilight zone type stuff is going on! Brandon says 2021 CFB "is off its damn rocker."

1:07:00 - Brandon calls the Sooners OL "a cesspool right now." The duo discusses the Oklahoma offensive line play. Spencer Rattler isn't the main issue and they deem OL the root of the problem right now. Parker puts a stat out that is shocking from the game. Andrew Raym is a bright spot. As is Chris Murray most of the time. What has happened to Anton Harrison? Will Wayna Morris get more PT after Saturday night?

1:28:00 - Recruiting talk. Big-time visitors with five-stars on officials and unofficials. How big will October be for Oklahoma on recruiting trail? Closeout of the podcast.

00:00 - Intro where Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune discuss Riley's discussion from his presser and their thoughts on what Lincoln Riley and Alex Grinch said during their pressers. Also, the Shane Whitter comments from Grinch.

04:00 - Can Spencer Rattler become the leader for the Sooners? Lincoln Riley touched on that and even said they lacked some leadership from Rattler and who is the ostensible leader for this 2021 Sooners football team? Is this the same situation as Ronnie Perkins and Rhamondre Stevenson's situation when they were out the first half of 2020? The OUinsider staff discusses who that guy may be and more.

11:00 - Is Spencer Rattler being asked to be too much too soon after only the 2020 season, no spring or summer, and just now getting his first spring and summer as the starting QB in 2021? Can we find out things by end of the Nebraska game and what to expect most of 2021 from Rattler and the OU offense?

13:00 - Back to leadership talk. Who is the big-moment guy that the team turns to? Again, Perkins was that guy even when suspended. Does this team have that guy? Does OU need to have that guy by the Nebraska game or can they organically figure it out and find that guy? Will OU handle business over the next few weeks heading into the Texas game?

17:00 - Tulane is a viable team that Sooners fans continue to overlook even after the game on Saturday. Staff discusses Michael Pratt and if OU is going to see a QB like him the rest of the year and discusses the fact Tulane could be seen as a good win come the end of the season. Much like Army in 2018. Also, venue change and game in New Orleans change the outcome and how OU approaches this game? Unanimously they say it would, but that is the bad part of the deal. Complacency set in due to that and shows some glaring issues that need to be resolved FAST.

23:00 - Again, the leadership question is asked by Brandon on what QB is viewed as the bigger leader already. The awkwardness that happened is something to behold. The answers were VERY, VERY solid and worth the listen alone.

26:00 - Lots of hypothetical talk on what would have to happen is for Lincoln Riley to look towards Caleb Williams if things continue to be up and down early in the season? No one thinks this will happen, and all three agree Rattler is too good to keep playing this way, but Texas game and the short leash is always something to behold if play stays the same?

29:00 - Parker with a really damning stat on Rattler that leads to the question of "Does Rattler live up to the hype?"

31:30 - Rattler's growth trajectory similar to Baker Mayfield? People forget how bad Mayfield was until the fourth quarter of Tennessee. Rattler will carry OU to victory and carry the Sooners on his back at some point this season. With that, what is living up to the hype we just talked about with Rattler?

34:30 - Does Alex Grinch's Speed 'D' live up to the preseason hype in 2021? In-depth conversation there.

39:00 - Danny Stutsman talk... That kid can ball. Staff talks about some standouts in a mess of negativity, the staff touches on some positive things about Saturday.

43:00 - Staff talks Florida stars on the roster and segways into some recruiting and Florida recruiting. Several HUGE visitors in the 2022 and 2023 classes. Some possibilities of five-star South Florida targets coming in that the staff is confirming. Along with California five-star targets that could make this Saturday a big deal and why the staff says the fan base better be on their game atmosphere-wise.

48:00 - Can the fans and student section be live after not selling out since 2019 due to Covid?

52:00 - Game predictions on the score for OU vs WCU on Saturday, leading rusher, receiver, tackler, etc. Game tickets and other giveaways are ahead for OU VIP members. Closing out the podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

00:00 - Intro where Parker instantly goes Jalen Hurts and calls for "rat poison" being the issue. 01:00 - Stats are deceiving at times, aren't they? 03:30 - Mad props to Tulane for all they have been through to play that well in Norman. 04:30 - Tulane QB Michael Pratt took a beating 06:30 - What type of mindset did OU have? Is it a chronic issue of getting lax with a big lead? What's the root cause? Brandon and Parker discussed. 13:00 - OU was solid to VERY GOOD when focused, but when up 37-14 they let up and it showed until the final drive where the focus came back. Is this the last time that happens in 2021? 15:00 - Spencer Rattler's play. Heisman frontrunner not so hot vs Tulane. Does OU at least look at Caleb Williams if this keeps up? How many unenviable situations can the defense be put in before that becomes a legitimate conversation? Brandon and Parker feel Rattler rebounds and explain why, too. 19:45 - RB's need more touches. Kennedy Brooks and Eric Gray couldn't get into a rhythm. 22:00- They not run because of the OL? Lack of trust? Limited depth at RB? Parker and Brandon try to unpack a lot there on the Sooners run game and at times the lack thereof with the OU run game. Does Lincoln Riley lean on the RBs more as the season goes on? The staff also unpacks the OL starters and depth. Talent is there, they think and explain why they feel the tools are there for a good OL.

28:00 - Was the second half vs Tulane the worst in recent memory? When was the last time the Sooners scored three points or less?

30:00 - Safety play. Brandon and Parker duck at the tomatoes being thrown at them for their takes of the OU safeties and they discuss the players that really stood out with GOOD play vs Tulane. Hint: Marvin Mims, Isaiah Thomas, and Gabe Brkic were talked about A LOT!

39:00 - Did rotating so many guys have an effect on the Sooners' play with players not getting in a rhythm or getting going like they normally would?

40:00 - Mike Woods play at WR in debut? Is Marvin Mims playing at an elite level? What makes him so special?

41:50 - Gabe freaking Brkic. That is all. Gabe Brkic is insanely good and had a record-setting day.

44:30 - Weirdly efficient day offensively when you look at possession chart. OU only did not score on two possessions all game long.

48:00 - This team losses the game in 2020 and 2019 if they play like they did vs Tulane. 2021 team is different with talent. Brandon and Parker discuss why and also their feeling of OU being bored up 23-points. Almost cost them.

50:00 to podcast end - Where will OU be ranked in new rankings? What's next for the Sooners? Can they rebound and live up to potential?

Here is the breakdown of the latest 'OUinsider: Under the Visor Sooners Podcast' :

00:00 - Brandon, Collin, and Parker intro into the podcast and then discuss their latest road travels covering the Sooners on the recruiting trail.

13:20 - The hype and expectation for the Sooners are VERY REAL heading into 2021. Can they live up to it? When was the last time there was hype like this for an OU season?

19:00 - Does this Sooners team have the leadership to fight through ups and downs and keep themselves on track? Can Spencer Rattler, Nik Bonitto, Jeremiah Hall, and other leaders keep this team's focus through all that will come at them in 2021?

22:00 - Who are the leaders on this team? Can players like Eric Gray, Isaiah Thomas, and Marvin Mims join them as leaders in 2021?

26:45 - Ralph Rucker is now the third-string QB for the Sooners. Who saw that coming? Parker Thune did... Another huge evaluation and win for Lincoln Riley at the QB position.

39:30 - Freshman LB Danny Stutsman is a dude and has been turning heads all fall camp long. Talk about that and Caleb Kelly getting a look at RUSH backer with Bonitto, Marcus Stripling, and Clayton Smith already there.

45:00 - Staff says you can't go off of how the OU staff rotates players in the Tulane game for how they will do things all season long. And why the Nebraska game on is where you'll see some consistency with rotations and overall lineups. Also, who they are excited to see play early on (Hint: Kelvin Gilliam, Caleb Williams, Ethan Downs, Jordan Mukes, Danny Stutsman, Billy Bowman, Mario Williams and more)

50:35 - Caleb Williams is that dude and why his attitude has been nothing but special all spring and fall camp. He is competing like he is up for the starting job and bringing it every day at practice. Staff discusses what else they have heard about the former five-star and top overall 2021 QB.

52:00 - That 2023 class with an INSANE start. Has any school started as hot as OU in their 2023 class... ever? Sooners are just getting started and could five-star WR DeAndre Moore follow his Los Alamitos teammates of Malachi Nelson and Makai Lemon to Norman?

57:40 - 2022 WR recruiting talk. What does a QB would do if they had one to lead the 2022 class? Does it make a difference? The staff lays out facts as to why they think it would and also discuss what they have heard regarding some WR's in the 2022 class that OU could pursue and more. (Talked about Jaqualyn Crawford. Brandon said it was in the 2018 class. Correction: He was in 2020).

1:07:00 - Staff asks and answers the question, "Should OU or Sooners fans worry about 2022 WR recruiting?" Hint: There are some smart-ass comments made. Staff talks about WR recruiting a bit more over a few OUinsider VIP nuggets already posted on the VIP Board.

1:15:30 - Staff finally gets back to 2023 five-star Brandon Inniss and what he brings to OU. They took a wrong turn and digressed BADLY. Staff says Inniss is up there with CeeDee Lamb and Marvin Mims as far as an overall talent that he brings to the table. He explains why he thinks that in this segment.

1:20:00 - Why the five-stars in the 2023 class are such polarizing and magnetic personalities. Also, why that will make the 2023 class that much more special.

1:22:00 - Final scrimmage breakdown with some sourced information over what the OUinsider staff has heard about that and the fall camp.

1:26:00 - Speed 'D' hype worth it? Can they live up to the expectations?

1:31:00 - The podcast ends with staff discussing the biggest concerns for the Sooners heading into week one against Tulane. 1:39:00 - Podcast ends.

Sooners fall camp 2021 talk| 2 things that can cost OU a natty & 2 things that if they are done Oklahoma wins a natty | breakout players predicted| 5-star recruiting talk with OU hot on recruiting trail!

00:00 - OU football is BACK! Not ready to crown them just yet, but lots of positives from Lincoln Riley, Alex Grinch, Bill Bedenbaugh, and Calvin Thibodeaux so far (and if you didn't know, it has just been 4 practices, now 6 so temper excitement, per Coach Bedenbaugh)!

05:00 - OU defense just looks physically different than anyone can truly remember. We name the guys that stood out in our 20-25 minutes at practice on Tuesday.

10:00 - Things coaches have said that have piqued our interest and why. Also, what else did we take away from our minimal time with practice viewing?

16:00 More on what the staffers have said on position battles and our thoughts on those battles. The offensive tackle position talk; the center position seems Andrew Raym's to lose, and young guys are pushing the older returnees for playing time. Who do we think will play?

30:00 - Why Brandon thinks the wide receiver position is pivotal for OU's success this year. He dives into consistency being the key after nine dropped TD's, and then the OUinsider staff transitions into two things OU can't have happen if they want to win the national title. 1:00:00 - Safety position talk: The staff talks about a topic that OUinsider VIP Board members do not like, and that the two returning starters are underrated (Pat Fields and Delarrin Turner-Yell) and deserve respect on their names for their leadership and the fact they keep holding off players more athletically gifted over and over. The real question is the depth at safety, and the OUinsider staff thinks that is as good and deep as it has been in years.

1:04:00 - Also, two things that OU HAS TO HAPPEN for the Sooners to win a national title. OUinsider staff -- and Collin in particular -- goes on a rant for why he thinks the Sooners win the national title in the 2021 season first. The podcast self-proclaimed "realist" is stepping out and saying why he thinks this is OU's year! He finishes his two reasons why OU wins the natty, and the rest of the staff follows with their two reasons why Oklahoma wins it all in 2021. Collin does go off on why Spencer Rattler is the most undervalued preseason Heisman frontrunner he can remember. Due to his spring play, the Caleb Williams buzz has been interesting this off-season to follow with a returner and possible top-5 pick back for OU. Parker thinks Marvin Mims, Mike Woods, and most specifically, Austin Stogner go off in 2021. Defensively, Parker says a lockdown corner has to emerge and explains why with solid players at the position in 2021 like DJ Graham, Woodi Washington, Latrell McCutchin, Jaden Davis, and Justin Harrington. Brandon says the QB room has to stay healthy. Depth is great with the first two in Spencer Rattler and Caleb Williams, but it gets a bit dicey after that. He calls for a bold prediction that there will be two players with 10+ sacks in 2021. The staff breaks down how possible that is and comes up with two players, with 8 sacks being the happy medium. Really solid discussion all the way around there.

1:20:00 - Perrion Winfrey or Jalen Redmond as first-rounders? Who is most likely? Staff is separated on that—all three with good reasons for their choice between the two.

1:30:00 One player on offense and one on defense that will have a surprise year. Staff each name their two guys.

1:40:00 - The rest of the podcast is ALL recruiting talk...

2:07:00 - Staff talks FREE DAY for non-members to checkout OUInsider at NO COST on August 16th! EMERGENCY PODCAST! Sooners Joining SEC and Leaving Big 12?| Recruiting ramifications| Time for OU fans to SEC, SEC, SEC!? | It just means more, Pawl! | Why did A&M leak it and what's the latest on it all, including the timeline for the move?

OUinsider.com Sooners beat writers and analysts Brandon Drumm, Collin Thune, and Parker Thune got together for an EMERGENCY OUinsider Under the Visor Sooners Podcast because the news was leaked by Houston Chronicle's Brent Zwerneman. The OUiinsider trio talks about what is to come for OU and Texas as the two blue bloods seemingly try and break free from the Big 12 Conference.

Here is the Under the Visor Sooners Podcast topic breakdown with timestamps:

00:00 - Intro where Brandon introduces what's to come on the podcast and talks with Collin and Parker about the initial shock of the news telling the world that OU and Texas are working to be accepted into the SEC and leaving the Big 12. All three have some very intriguing takes on how they reacted and what they heard from the jump on the situation.

06:00 - The reactions from other Big 12 programs and how the OUinsider analysts feel about the move after the initial shock.

13:00 - The original Big 12 and the Big 12 South was lethal and were the SEC West before the SEC West became what it is today. Programs like OU, OKstate, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Baylor made that division just lethal from 2000 to 2010.

17:00 - Texas A&M leaked the news to preserve their "identity" as the lone SEC program in this region or state of Texas. That has backed fired a bit and the other SEC programs are still wanting to add OU and Texas from all reports and sources the OUinsdier staff talks to. All that said, what does this do to A&M and how much does this hinder their program with the two schools that they struggled the most with while in the Big12 potentially joining the SEC?

24:00 - Continued talk about how/why A&M has the biggest issue with OU and Texas coming into the SEC. Will history repeat itself or does Jimbo Fisher have the Aggie program at a much better place heading into the inevitable situation of OU/Texas joining the SEC and A&M having to share that title in this region now of being the deepest league in the CFB?

34:00 - Why Arkansas has a lot to gain with recruiting territories they once had a strong footprint in being there for the Hogs again, with OKPreps and TXHFB becoming a place where Arkansas can recruit heavily again. Both states now in the SEC make for a bigger footprint if you're the Hogs and they could take over the second program in the state of Oklahoma on the recruiting trail.

38:00 - Why Collin and Brandon feel A&M can thrive with OU and Texas in the SEC. Fisher has A&M recruiting nationally and the analysts explain why that's big with what's to come for A&M.

43:00 - Why OU is pushing hard to get on an SEC schedule sooner rather than later. The analysts discuss how bad the Big 12 conference schedule has been and why it's hurt Oklahoma's bottom line and why

55:00 - Is OU the second or third best team in the SEC already?

57:00 - How the SEC logo automatically changes the national narrative of Oklahoma and why the staff feels the Sooners will be a good fit in the SEC.

1:00:00 - Can OU/TX be playing an SEC schedule by 2022 or 2023?

Staff breaks down commitments in 2022 and 2023 classes in the month of July: 2022 Four-star DL/DE Derrick Moore Four-star OL Jacob Sexton Four-star OL Jake Taylor Three-star DB Xavion Brice Three-star DB Robert Spears-Jennings Four-star TE Kaden Helms Top kicker Gavin Marshall

2023 Five-star QB Malachi Nelson Five-star RB Treyaun Webb

00:00 - Brandon and Parker introduce what's to come in the podcast 05:00 - What does this month do for the Sooners momentum in both 2022 and 2023 classes and what does having Spencer Rattler, Caleb Williams, and Malachi Nelson do for Oklahoma on the recruiting trail? Does this mean OU isn't done in the month of July with commitments? 10:00 - Is OU set up to be the program that is going to challenge Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State for top dog in the college football moving forward? Everyone knows Bama is the top program, but that can't last forever. Can OU be that next program with how Lincoln Riley and his staff have built the program on the recruiting trail and transfer portal? The OUinsider staff discusses. 15:00 - Sooners quarterback play has always been good, but can anyone name a program that has had more top-level talent at the position the last 20-years than Oklahoma. Good QB player equals wins and Oklahoma has that for years to come. 22:00 - Does OU have to win a national title this year or is the program and roster set up for the Sooners to make a great run over the next four or five years? Is it a make or break year for the Sooners? 31:00 - Has OU turned the corner with defense recruiting? Is this new success or has it been going on since 2017 or 2018? Staff says this has been trending this way for a few years but now everyone is taking notice. 38:00 - Alex Grinch and Roy Manning hitting home runs on the evaluations with their commitments and it shows up once again with Xavion Brice, Jayden Rowe, and Robert Spears-Jennings evaluations.

44:00 - Finishing up talking about how far OU has come with defensive recruiting under Alex Grinch and his defensive staff. Discuss all EIGHT targets that OU is in on from the Top 100. And yes, you read that right. How many of the eight does OU need to land to make a splash. 46:00 - How "special" can 2023 be? Malachi Nelson and Treyaun Webb seem to think it will be "special" and what can/will Oklahoma do in the 2023 class? How many five-stars are realistic for OU to have in the 2023 class? 49:30 - Tulsa area recruiting and can OU close out on some top 2022 and 2023 targets? Jayden Rowe is underrated and his size/skillset shows it.

51: 00 - Is this the greatest recruiting month in OU history? Does it beat the 2018 spring game weekend? What about 2007 junior day? Brandon and Parker discuss. 54:00 - They name the next commits that they see coming fairly soon. 1:00:00 to end: Things that stood out at Big 12 Media Days, QB room breakdown, and more!

A flurry of commits for Sooners as Lincoln Riley and company put on a recruiting fireworks show! Could the month of July be just starting with more good news to come for OU? What's the ChampU22 class expectations come December NSD & MORE!  Oklahoma had five commits that started on July 2nd, with four-star OL Jacob Sexton announcing his commitment to the Sooners. Sexton was quickly followed by another in-state star with 2022 three-star Broken Arrow (OK) DB Robert Spears-Jennings committing to Lincoln Riley and OU. Then, 2022 three-star DB Xavion Brice committed to Oklahoma before a big one in four-star, and top-50 overall DE/DL Derrick Moore committed to OU. On July 7th, four-star OL Jake Taylor finished off one heckuva week for the Sooners, as he committed to OU on CBSSportsHQ, with Taylor being joined by our own 247Sports National Recruiting Director, Steve Wiltfong, during the national broadcast announcement. All of that was week one of July, so the OUinsider trio discussed what else could be just on the horizon for the Sooners later on this month.

00:00 - Intro talking about the Sooners hot start on the recruiting trail in the month of July 03:20 - OU have more to come very soon on the commitment front? Where do some of these potential commitments put the Sooners in the rankings, and what kind of impact could they have if it actually occurs? )6:00 - Average per commit more valuable than total team rankings? And how do the transfer portal additions also play in how fans should look at rankings and overall roster buildup? 09:00- Sooners fans need to trust Roy Manning and Alex Grinch's evaluation of defensive backs, and they need to acknowledge that those players they pinpoint early seem to skyrocket in rankings, and they fit the build and makeup that Grinch wants to man his defensive backfield. The staff names examples and talks about those examples and more. 23:00 - Sooners fans feelings on how OU has recruited OKPreps. Is it overstated? Is it spot on? And can OU close out on a 5-star DB like a Gentry Williams or 4-star DL like a Chris McClellan (This has been talked about a ton on OUinsider VIP. Some new VIP/insider information coming tomorrow on both Williams and McClellan on VIP Board). Also, how often does OU miss on guys they really want in OKPreps unless some extenuating circumstances seem to come up... ala Talyn Shettron? The staff discusses a heated subject that you all will want to listen in on when talking OKPreps recruiting. 37:00 - How does this preseason hype of the Sooners defensive line and their accolades being publicly discussed help Oklahoma with defensive recruiting? How much did that play into a Derrick Moore decision? The staff also talks about DE/DL coaches Jamar Cain and Calvin Thibodeaux recruiting and developing on another level at this point. 46:00 - Break down the eyes dating back to ChampUBBQ and elite 2022 RB Gavin Sawchuck. OUinsider staffers Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune join up to talk about the Sooners spring game that was held this past Saturday. The trio discusses the standouts during the game and discuss who they feel will be the starters in the OU secondary and why. The Oklahoma secondary has become a position that has length, range, and a ton of speed in it. Brandon Drumm has a ton of insider/sourced notes in his DrummBeat Sooners spring football insider/VIP sourced notes (PART 1), where he has quotes, notes, and more about the secondary positions (Part 2 coming Thursday afternoon talking DL, OL, LB, and more insider/VIP information). Collin and Parker then talk about the Sooners' young standouts and if they buy into Caleb Williams buzz on him vying for the starting QB spot over returning starter and leading 2021 Heisman Trophy candidate Spencer Rattler. Drumm joins the talk and discusses how he sees that playing out and if Riley and company will have a bunch of packages for Williams to contribute in key portions of games. Is this Rattler's team? Listen and discuss in the comments! OUinsider staff then dives DEEP into some potentially good news about to happen on the recruiting front, along with OU hosting several top-level prospects on "self-guided" visits for the Oklahoma Sooners Spring Game. They talk about four-star TE Kaden Helms, four-star LB Kip Lewis, five-star DB Gentry Williams, four-star DL Chris McClellan, four-star OL Jacob Sexton, and fast-rising DB Jayden Rowe. They also talked about a few 2023 guys in four-star TE Luke Hasz, four-star OL Cayden Green and dove into some ChampUBBQ notes that listeners would love to hear (more in-depth on the VIP board that VIP members have access to).

Before diving into the NFL Draft and ending the podcast, the trio talks about Sooners' defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and what it would take for him to look or take a head coaching job. What level would it have to be, and does he stick around and be picky about it due to his salary, talent on hand in Norman, and the fact he said this is the best he has ever had (speaking about his time at OU)?

They end the podcast talking about where they see EDGE rusher Ronnie Perkins, OL Creed Humphrey, DB Tre Brown, DB Tre Norwood, OL Adrian Ealy, and RB Rhamondre Stevenson getting drafted. OUinsider staff touches on all the topics noted above and SO MUCH MORE!!! ALL on LATEST OUINSIDER Under the Visor Sooners Podcast!!!

Our OUinsider analysts Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune talk about the off-field issues hanging over the OU program right now with two players (now suspended players) going through an investigation. Parker Thune talks about what he witnessed that night being at the same place one of the Sooners players was detained, and he and Brandon Drumm talk about why OUinsider chose to hold off going saying what Thune saw go down that night. The trio talks about where OU goes from here and how things are progressing with the investigation. Then, talk about what Oklahoma can do to offset the POTENTIAL loss at WR with a few injuries, investigation, and removal of Obi Obialo from the Sooners roster. One player that looks to be transferring, and has since announced he will be a Sooner, is Arkansas transfer WR Mike Woods. Woods was the Hogs' second-leading receiver and a player that can stretch the field. OUinsider staff discusses how he could help OU and more. The staff also discusses who they are watching on both sides of the ball in the spring and why, along with talking about big-time visitors that are heading to Norman on self-guided visits this coming weekend. How will all that help the Sooners with each prospect? The staff dives deep into that. Before ending the podcast, the staff discusses how Sooners' new basketball coach Porter Moser is fast becoming known as "Portal Moser" with how well he is building a very solid roster in his first off-season as Sooners head coach. With Oklahoma getting the Groves brothers from Eastern Washington and Duke transfer guard Jordan Goldwire, Oklahoma is still in market to fill a few more roster spots, so we will see how this plays out. OUinsider's Collin Kennedy dives deep into the hoops news, as well. Lastly, the staff discusses the last few weeks of travel and recruiting news. Lincoln Riley, Alex Grinch, Dennis Simmons, and the Oklahoma staff just closed out their LincUp21 class and met with the media on Wednesday. Our OUInisder.com and 247Sports staffers Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy, and Parker Thune talk about that presser. Also, they talk about Riley's thoughts and quotes on why the Sooners took only 16 commits and along with having five incoming transfers so far. The OU staff seems overly excited about players, and early enrollees, like Billy Bowman, Caleb Williams, Ethan Downs, Clayton Smith, Danny Stutsman, Mario Williams, and also pinpointed transfer Key Lawrence as a potential big-time player for OU in the 2021 season. Sooners assistant coach Dennis Simmons also met with the OU beat and talked about his promotion to Oklahoma outside wide receiver coach/passing game coordinator and assistant head coach. Simmons was previously the associate head coach at OU. OUinsider staff discusses why that move and promotion was big for Lincoln Riley and the Sooners moving forward, The 247sports staff also talks about why Simmons is one of the top assistants in all of college football. The OUinsider trio then talks about Big Kat Bryant and what he could be or mean for the already talented and deep Sooners defensive line. That brought on a question by Drumm as he asks Thune and Kennedy what another great DL performance in 2021 could do for the Sooners recruiting and program moving forward. That was obviously rhetorical, but he asked if it at the most critical juncture yet for OU and DL recruiting with Texas A&M and others coming around, as well? Will the SEC transfers to OU pay off in the SEC territory and recruiting if the four or five former SEC players come in and become NFL Draft picks? If so, how much can it pay off and what is the ceiling for the Sooners recruiting in the SEC territory? Can OU consistently steal elite talent out of that area? They discuss and say why they think it's possible or not possible. The staff also discusses their predictions for the next three commitments in the Sooners ChampU22 class, Raleek Brown's upcoming decision between OU and several elite P5 programs on Friday, and they talk OU hoops along with where they think the Sooners hoops team will be seeded in the NCAA tourney when their season is all said and done. Finally, the OUInsider staff discusses why a certain sect of the Sooners fanbase needs to chill and save their off-base opinions of Brendan Radley-Hiles (Bookie) after OUinsider broke the story on his potential transfer from Oklahoma the other day. The OUinsider trio talks about why Bookie will be sorely missed and why so many in the OU program (present and former) have such high-praise for Bookie. Also hear why Lincoln Riley loves Bookie as does Alex Grinch and others. Basically, the OUinsider staff gives their emotionally charged opinions on why some of the Sooners fan base is not right in their opinions of Bookie, along with his impact on the OU football program on and off the field. All that and more on the latest OUinsider Under the Visor Sooners Podcast!

OUinsider.com & 247Sports analysts Brandon Drumm and Collin Kennedy discuss the Sooners struggle vs Baylor, along with the Covid-19 issues. The duo is also joined by 247Sports national recruiting director Steve Wiltfong and 247Sports national recruiting editor and west coast analyst Brandon Huffman. Wiltfong and Huffman help Drumm and Kennedy in breaking down the Sooners remaining targets for the 2021 class. With a bunch of 5-stars still left on the board, can the Sooners close out in a big way? Huffman breaks down the 5-star WR Emeka Egbuka saga, what the Sooners are getting in four-star DE/DL Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge. Huffman also talks about what a big hire Sooners DC Alex Grinch was for Lincoln Riley and states his opinion on what the Oklahoma Sooners brand is perceived as on the west coast. Along with Wiltfong and Huffman, Drumm and Kennedy break down their thoughts on OU 5-star targets Bryce Foster, Camar Wheaton, Tristan Leigh, and Emeka Egbuka. Drumm and Kennedy finish the podcast by discussing the Sooners matchup with West Virginia and what OU needs to do to have an impact/noticeable performance this coming Saturday in Morgantown (WV). The duo discusses what Sooners QB Spencer Rattler needs to do to rebound from a rough performance last Saturday against the Baylor Bears and how Oklahoma can get the offense back on track. They also discuss what a return of Nik Bonitto would do for the OU defense, along with their picks of this year's Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. They discuss how Isaiah Thomas is a huge candidate, and if Ronnie Perkins has done enough. They also bring up names from a few other programs that should be considered for DPoY in the Big 12. They discuss all that and SO MUCH more in this LOADED OUinsider.com Under the Visor Podcast for 247Sports!

Sooners hit the ground running on Saturday night and came away blowing out the Texas Tech Red Raiders 62-28. It was ironic that the first game Ronnie Perkins and Rhamondre Stevenson played was the same score as the first game of their suspension. Perkins and Stevenson have been out since the College Football Playoff Semis against LSU. A game in which the Tigers beat Oklahoma 62-28. Obviously, that LSU team was one for ages, but you see the difference Perkins and Stevenson made in their returns. Sooners QB Spencer Rattler also talked about their returns and said that the team errupted when told they would be playing the night before game. That news led to Rattler telling the team "it's time we embarrass somebody" and that the Sooners did. *** In this latest OUinsider Under the Visor Podcast, we discuss the Sooners route of the Texas Tech, the play of Spencer Rattler, the mentality of wanting to 'embarrass' and opponent and what Rhamondre Stevenson and Ronnie Perkins mean to this OU program going forward. We also discuss the job Alex Grinch has done with the Sooners defense, if the Speed 'D' will be even more impressive next year and what this team COULD look like when guys like Jadon Haselwood, Brayden Willis, Delarrin Tuner-Yell, Charleston Rambo, Caleb Kelly, Justin Harrington, Marcus Hicks, LaRon Stokes, Trejan Bridges and the 2021 class gets into Norman for the 2021 season. Could this program be on the verge of having a talent pool that rivals that of Clemson and Alabama? Our guys Brandon Drumm, Collin Kennedy and Joey Helmer discuss it all! The OUinsider analysts talk how they think the Sooners class will end with four predictions on five-star RB Camar Wheaton, five-star WR Emeka Egbuka, five-star OL Tristan Leigh, and four-star OL Savion Byrd. The trio talk if they think decisions will be made by December or not with the Elite 2021 Sooners targets! Lastly, the OUinsider analysts discuss how big the pickup of 2021 four-star ATH Billy Bowman is for the program moving forward. Could it lead to more in-roads with Denton (TX) Ryan, one of the most prestigious programs in Texas High School Football?

Oklahoma Sooners coach Lincoln Riley previewed OU's 2020 spring football schedule and what he hopes to accomplish during the 15 allotted practices. He told media defensive tackle Jalen Redmond, Jon-Michael Terry, Trey Sermon and others will miss spring practices. He wasn't terribly happy about how Bill Bedenbaugh's offensive line played. Center Creed Humphrey and others will need to step up.

The battle between quarterback Tanner Mordecai and Spencer Rattler begins in earnest, and Riley said he believes both of them are ready to be the starting quarterback at OU. He also mentioned Robert Barnes and Jamal Morris have moved to playing linebacker rather than safety.

The big news was Baker Mayfield's Heisman statue will be revealed at OU's Red and White spring game on April 18 at 5 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium.

RJ and Collin decided to draft 7-on-7 teams from the 2020 Oklahoma football spring roster. The rules are simple: One quarterback each, two linebackers each, two running backs and five defensive backs, four wide outs and a tight end-type to fill out the roster. Predictably, Collin took redshirt freshman quarterback Spencer Rattler to start. But the exercise also shows just how difficult it's going to be for OU if Rattler doesn't turn in the goods. OUI staff writers RJ Young and Collin Kennedy chopped it up on Thursday about the Top 247 Sports 2021 football recruiting rankings. Among them are high-priority recruits that include the No. 1 quarterback and No. 1 running back in the class. With his move up to No. 6 in the overall 2021 rankings, Gonzaga College quarterback Caleb Williams is one of the top uncommitted prospects in this cycle and the highest ranked player out of the Mid-Atlantic region in over a decade, according to 247 Sports analyst Charles Power. Williams possesses legitimate 4.57-second, 40-yard dash speed. He rushed for 838 yards with 18 touchdowns in 11 games as a junior last season. He is elite when the pocket breaks down. TreVeyon Henderson has been recognized as elite. Oklahoma would've probably preferred Henderson remain ranked at No. 226 overall. But now everybody knows how good Henderson is as he rocketed to No. 11 in the overall rankings and is the No. 1 running back in the class. At 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Henderson rushed for 2,424 yards with 45 rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns to give him 50 total last season for Hopewell (Va.) High School. If that wasn't enough, he notched 48 tackles and three interceptions on defense en route to state championship and a 15-0 season. Mario Williams is the most interesting OU offer to watch. Williams is ranked No. 127 in the rankings, but he's been a priority for OU outside wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons, who recognized Williams' talent immediately. He is ranked No. 40 in the 247 Sports Composite, a four-star in the industry-generated ranking and the No. 4 wide receiver in the country. At 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, Williams is a two-sport star at Plant City (Fla.) High School with offers from Florida, Alabama and LSU among others. Williams played centerfield, pitched and hit .280 with 10 stolen bases for the 2019 Plant City Raiders, who won the program's first state title in the sport in 47 years. Kobie McKinzie’s guardian, Will Truby, has heard all of the talk about how little some are willing to invest in the knowledge that McKinzie committed to play at Oklahoma. While Lincoln Riley and his staff are working hard to close out the 2020 recruiting cycle and shifting gears toward earning verbal commitments and, eventually, signings from members of the 2021 class, McKinzie is just a sophomore in high school and a rising junior in recruiting. Means, as a class of 2022 prospect, nearly two years has to pass before he can put pen to paper and sign a national letter of intent. His process is still only beginning, and he’s changed his mind once already. Before the end of his sophomore season on the gridiron, he reopened his recruitment after initially pledging to play at his native Texas Tech. And it’s not as if many who follow OU football recruiting efforts aren’t aware of how a teenager’s mind can change. Notably, 2020 running back Jase McClellan ended his two-year courtship with OU to flip to Alabama just as he became eligible to sign his letter of intent. Truby said he understood why some might question McKinzie’s commitment, but they shouldn’t. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The ninth-ranked Sooners are ranked behind Utah and Oregon would have wins against four ranked opponents—Texas, No. 12 Baylor, No. 23 Oklahoma State and No. 16 Kansas State gets into the conference title game. Meanwhile Oregon is 1-1 against ranked opponents with its best win being against No. 25 Washington. Utah’s best win is against No. 17 Arizona State with a loss to 5-4 USC. Neither Utah nor Oregon State has games left against ranked teams heading into this weekend. The combined record of their remaining opponents is 24-28. The combined record of OU’s remaining opponents is 19-6. Georgia has games left against just one ranked opponent—Auburn—in the regular season and would have with the same number of wins against ranked opponents as Oklahoma if the Bulldogs win out with a conference title. But a win against an undefeated Alabama or LSU might be enough to nudge them ahead of OU. And 5-3 Missouri and 6-3 Texas A&M are as stout as the Pokes and Cyclones. If conference titles matter—like the playoff criteria says they do—a one-loss Penn State, Minnesota or Ohio State would not get in. But that hasn’t stopped the committee before. The strength of record leans toward the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions when compared with the Sooners. OU needs help. But it doesn’t need a lot. OUI staff writers RJ Young and Brandon Drummed set the table for No. 4 Oklahoma's contest against Houston on Sunday in what promises to be an entertaining game. OU announced team captains for the 2019 season are quarterback Jalen Hurts, center Creed Humphrey, defensive tackle Neville Gallimore and middle linebacker Kenneth Murray. All but Hurts represented OU at Big 12 Media Days prior to Hurts being named the starting quarterback at Oklahoma. For Hurts, this is the first time he's been named a team captain in college. For Murray, this is his second stint as a team captain, and he's expected to be the heart and soul of a revamped defense this season under defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. OU's schedule only shows two ranked opponents in the preseason poll, so there is not much margin for error if the Sooners intend to make a third consecutive trip to the College Football Playoff and win a fifth consecutive Big 12 title. OUInsider staff writers Brandon Drumm and RJ Young discussed the news to come out Friday. Oklahoma Sooners coach Lincoln Riley announced defensive back Tre Norwood has suffered a lower leg injury that will ensure he misses the 2019 season. "He'll miss the season," Riley said. "So tough injury, tough for him, tough for our team. You know, he's such a valuable guy, can play so many positions, [has] great experience. Certainly we'll miss him not only defensively, but special teams, too. He's a guy that was really a jack-of-all-trades for us. But that's part of this game. That's gonna happen. We've had a couple already, and that's why you recruit hard, that's why you develop hard. "In some ways, there's probably some silver lining in the fact that it happened early enough that we're able to adjust and able to get a lot of guys reps. These things are a lot tougher if they happen during the season or right before a season opener. So it's given us time to do that. And everybody was disappointed for Tre, but anybody that knows him knows he'll handle it well and he'll come back better than ever." Norwood was OU's most versatile defensive back headed into the 2019 season. His experience at every position in the defensive backfield allowed for beefed secondary that needs to improve on a pass defense ranking of 129. With Norwood working mostly at the nickel back position, Brendan Radley-Hiles is expected to lead the depth chart at the position. But he is in competition with Justin Broiles and Jeremiah Criddell among others.
