It was a very isolated town difficult to get too, the gold miners made it there by 1854.

Before it was named San Remo by the settlers it would have been named something else. Prior to this it was named Griffiths point then colloquially - not officially named after the first settler we will met the Davis'.

Corinella is a small town on the coast in Bass Coast Shire, with French Island off the coast that ran a prison.

Inverloch is a sleepy seaside town. But wow, they had a guy who ripped off the Oriental Bank tons of sovereigns and buried them in Inverloch, a serial killer struck taking a young life, some fishing crimes, cheating the scales and stealing.
We're going to meet Inverloch's regular people who make the town. We will meet a boatbuilder, postmaster, storekeeper, mailman, and hotel owner with snippets of other stories. Inverloch was the home of the Lowandjeri Bulluk of the Bunerong People with ceremonial spaces at Andersons Inlet which is where the Tarwin River meets the ocean and on the shore to the West is what today is known as Inverloch
This town in Garnet Montana, is a ghost town, where the American government will pay you to stay.
This town feels like Walhalla Victoria, except it doesn't seem to take off in the same or if it does it wasn't reported in the same way.
There are owners of gold mines, woodmen and crimes and ghosts.

Villisca Iowa's main reported ghost stories come from the ax house, many of the locals don't like this, so I found many ghost stories in the local papers from around that time to see what stories they told each other.

Villisca Iowa is well known for an ax murder which has never been solved - in the bonus episode on Patreon we look at the lives of the people who were victimised, the witnesses and potential murderers, including the defamation case that sprung out as a result of the finger pointing that went on in town after the shock to this otherwise low crime town - I looked for all types of crimes over the years from 1858 through to 1912 when the ax murder crime occurred. Villisca is between two tributaries of the Nodaway River, the West and Middle Nodaway Rivers, known as the forks. Probably why it was an attractive place for a town to support local farmers. This town is infamous for the Villisca Axe Murder, a tragedy where 8 people were murdered and no one was ever brought to justice for it. As with all social history episodes we're going to meet the people because it's the regular people who make the town. So we will meet some farmers, blacksmiths, travellers, and teachers and accountants.

Warragul formed as a town in 1882. It also was built around the railway line. The land as the Kurnai Nations people would have known and utilised had large thick trees with their stone axes, their dwellings and communities were established on the hills (these details were published in the obituary of the first white settlers house and stores). The land was quite damp which created boggy conditions for hooved animals drawing carts that the settlers brought with them. Described by early journalists as a swamp and virgin bush wilderness. Brandy Creek was originally settled first as people pushed further south into the actual location of Warragul as the railway line was out through in 1878.

Skidmore Missouri has a present-day population of 250 people which is really interesting and likely wouldn't be known so infamously if not for a murder that appears to have happened with most of the townspeople knowledge. We'll talk about that in the next episode.

It is named after a surname of person - Marteny Skidmore who settled in the area around 1864 and then in 1880 and planned the town around the Nodaway Valley Railway depot and line. It appears from what I've discovered online is that it was mostly a farming community that had a railway to ship their produce to larger areas.

A social history of Roswell New Mexico. You might know this infamous small town as the place aliens crashed (well it was at Corona...) anyway this episode isn't that one - yet.
As always we're going to met the Butcher, Baker and candlestick maker of Roswell - only the people were pilots, cattle ranchers, telephone company employees and apple growers. Which you might notice are some of the elements involved in the Roswell Incident - but not these people.
I originally recorded this with Brenden from Master Talk YouTube however there were technical difficulties on my end of the recording. It was a great chat, and he was so insightful and thoughtful. Since colonisation Lakes Entrance was named Cunninghame, because the Entrance was not entirely open for the Lakes at the time. In fact, in 1844 it closed over completely. Many of the residents would not accept there are haunted locations in town. They chalk up the odd experiences up to pranksters. What's with the name? The Haunted Hills is a place where the hills rumble and cows won’t stay - it inspires us. The show is named after these hills as well as the first podcast. Then there are more stories of other small towns starting in Gippsland Victoria Australia. Featuring their history, crime and Paranormal. With the magic of technology, we can cover nearly any small town anywhere. All we need is an internet connection and the astral plane.
