Grace. Empowerment. Empathy. Knowledge. Strength. Sometimes it takes the Wild Ones to tame the savage world.
Annas Eskander is a fashion designer by trade but she's had an interest in creative writing. Having written screenplays for film and television, she has previously launched a crowdfunding campaign for her first comic book, EYVA.
Annas has been been on the social media circuit to promote her work but today we want to talk to the content creator, the mother, the wife; of love and loss with plenty of girl talk and laughter at the end - because that's what we do. We power through the hard stuff and still manage to find laughter.
CURIOUS ABOUT EYVA?
EYVA is a cyberpunk comic series set in a 23rd century world of bio-implants and intrusive surveillance. It has shades of the 80s sci-fi and fantasy fiction. Everything about you is streamed and monitored by an entity called MAINFRAME. For information, you can see her campaign. As of this post, her book is available on demand at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/eyva-comic-issue-1-mainframe-is-watching/x/23774242#/

I waited to share this out because I didn't want to rage but I had an incident this past weekend that makes me question the IQ of one particular stranger who thought it would be a good idea to try and shame me... for going down the shopping aisle with my cart... the wrong way.
Yup. In this daft woman's head, I might as well have been killing puppies because the arrow on the floor had an arrow that pointed in the opposite direction of my shopping cart. I may have embarrassed her with my long, hard and LOUD laughing as she fussed and bitched how people like me are why people are dying. True story!
Oh common sense, where art thou? I miss you.

Opportunity comes from the most unexpected places sometimes. If you had told me even a year ago that I was going to have a morning show on iHeartRadio, I would have called you crazy. Opportunity knocked and I answered. I might not always know what I'm doing but I will sure take it as far as it'll get me.
And then there are times when nothing seems to happen; no forward movement, no excitement, supposedly no opportunities. Well, that's when I go knocking down doors and tapping on windows. Maybe it's my personality. I love keeping busy and learning new things. As much as I complain about the endless "learning curves" I keep seeking out new things. So yeah, if opportunity doesn't find me, I guess I'm going out to find it.
How about you?

It seems to be an ongoing thing where I keep piling on my to-do list. Many of you know that I stay active in the geek community and I have a really hard time saying NO when it comes to helping people, especially when so many of my fellow creators are struggling to make ends meet.
In a nutshell, I had plans to livestream Tampa Bay Comic Con which eliminated the idea of organizing & hosting a virtual convention. Easy peasy, right? I was 80% certain it would happen and then it didn't. Now we're scrambling to launch an event and everything that I had thought about doing months ago and didn't because HOPE is a real bastard sometimes - well now I'm trying to get things organized within 2 weeks.
It'll happen. I won't rest until it's over. But that begs the question: Why do I keep doing this to myself?
I saw a Facebook message from my future daughter-in-law that she was stressed out and having an anxiety attack so I sent her a note to say that I was around if she wanted to talk. I hadn't heard from her in a couple of days but when she responded she said it might have been awkward when the source of stress was my son.
Well... Having raised that child, I know how stressful it can be. I'm not one to take sides - not even blindly for my own bloodline but I understand her hesitancy. Some people might interpret that as being a terrible mother but I've cut the umbilical cord with my children a long time ago. It took a lot of time and conscious effort to see them as responsible adults and not my brat kids.
On the flip side of that, if she doesn't talk about it then I don't know if she's overreacting either. At the end of the day, she seems to have gotten over whatever issue was stressing her out and it's not really my business.
I love this topic because I've survived it. I'm not talking about just an ex-husband but a former job, a former life, a former dream. It's not easy to get over an EX-anything. But when we get to a point where we leave OUT emotion and embrace INDIFFERENCE then we know that it's really over.
Today's Morning Nosh is my experience. I'd love to hear your story too. What are some of the tips and tools you've used to get over an EX? Let me know at meredith@wildoneforever.com

It's not an easy day for me. Today is the 10th anniversary of my father's death. Instead of being a weeping pile of ugly cry, I choose to celebrate him with a couple of stories that make me laugh with the memories.
With these stories come two valuable life lessons. Let me know what you think!

I want to hear your stories too.
Have you ever had a dream of what you were going to accomplish or be when you grew up and the reality is so far from it that it's laughable? It's one thing for a child to look to the stars and think they're going to be an astronaut because their imagination takes them there.
But what about the dream job that you've been working on your entire life and, through no fault other than life choices, those dreams are dashed. Reality kicks in and you realize the dream you've kept alive is really dead.
I've been there - and it was a very difficult time. I needed room to mourn a life I never had. No one really understood that deep sense of loss; certainly not my children. My poor husband was confused but it was something I went through. As hard as it was, it opened new doors. So I hope you take some inspiration from my story. Life is hard and we often have tough choices to make. Hopes and dreams make the journey easier but sometimes those go away too. It's okay. When a door closes, open another one and walk through. They're doors. That's what they are made for.

Oh man... When I screw up, I usually do a really good job of it. Hey, it happens. No one's perfect and mistakes are part of life. It's how we rebound from the mistakes that helps define our character and how we're perceived.
In this episode, I share a HUGE screw up that I did when I worked for a daily newspaper. It was bad enough that I didn't want to show up and face the consequences. In fact, I thought I would get fired because it was that bad. And honestly, bad enough that I remember their names even a decade later!
Here's the thing... I owned it and did my best to make it better and put processes in place to never let it happen again - at least, not on my watch. Tune in to find out what it was.

You might be very surprised by the things you can accomplish in 24 hours. Some of them are miraculous, but they're every day happenings so perhaps you don't even acknowledge them. Some example that I touch on are childbirth, the loss of a loved one, driving up the coast.
I've even written a 10,000 word story within a day.
Take a broad look at your day and let me know what you've accomplished or strive to complete in 24 hours. You might surprise yourself.

I'm struggling today! Woke up "not feeling it" and really wanting to do nothing other than go back to bed and maybe binge on some reading or catch up on some shows... and even that didn't feel appealing.
It's going to be one of those days.
I wasn't feeling it about exercise. I wanted to cut my slow jog to a mile. Did a mile and a half anyway.
Didn't feel like showering. Did it anyway.
Don't feel like recording. Did it anyway.
Don't feel like getting any work or writing done. Guess what? I'm going to do it anyway.
It's going to be a struggle. I'm going to fight myself for every tiny little battle today so it's time to pivot away from the bigger goals and laser focus on the small, achievable goals. That's today's battle and I'm going to win it.

Good morning, WildOnes!
This has been a fabulous morning and I hope the good things perpetuate and grow. Early this morning was extremely productive as far as getting things posted, getting some exercise done, a good belly laugh, and a random act of kindness. Be a person of action for good things.

Hopefully this isn't going to be too much of a downer but yesterday I was talking about how I needed to listen to my body more and it's gotten me back on a fitness routine. But today, I acknowledge that my body remembers the hard stuff... like losing my dad to cancer. It is kind of weird that my body automatically went into a countdown to sadness but this year I recognize it.
I acknowledge what my body is telling me and I will likely be reflective in the days and weeks to come.

As my good friend, Brian K. Morris likes to say, "We'll all rise together."
It takes community and I'm so glad that you are a part of mine.
This may be a common theme that I will revisit from time to time because it's important.
Making excuses is easy. Listening to yourself and doing the right thing is HARD.
The voice in my head was screaming that I was losing all the progress I was making in my weight loss and health journey because the excuses are coming way too easy. At what expense?
Time to do the work and get off my butt.

It's a nasty habit that is an underlying craving that I've had for decades.
In times of stress it's the only thing I can think about because it used to be my excuse to take a break, take a moment and breathe... even if it was filling my lungs with nasty things. The craving to smoke is powerful these days. It's like the negative in the world is luring me to a dark place. I won't let it! I see it for what it is and I'm not giving in... but dammit, it's tough. I'm tougher.
What is your hurdle? What are you trying to overcome today? I want to know.

Meet Christie Shinn
If you're familiar with Christie Shinn's work then you know she is creative, funny, down-to-earth and doesn't give a flying f*ck about haters.
Demon Bitch was created and inspired by mean girls. For some, it's offensive. For others, it's art. I personally don't think there's any hidden meaning behind anything she creates. It is what it is. She speaks plainly about her art, her health and her mission to bring Demon Bitch to the masses.

First off, I want to thank you for tuning in to WildOne Forever's The Morning Nosh. We're closing out Week 4! I cannot say this path is easy. I've never been one to monologue but it gets a little easier with each passing day. Note that I didn't say I'm getting better - just that this is getting easier to spew. LOL
Today's topic piggybacks off of a great conversation I had with my good friends, Jennifer Pedalino-Drexler, Bill "McSciFi" McCormick, and Matthew Harris. The topic was: "MAN UP"
What exactly does that mean to us, how it's shaped us and our gut-check reaction to it and why we feel that way. It was an amazing hour.
Do you have questions for me?
As the emails start coming in, I will address them on my show. Topic ideas for future panel topics and conversations are appreciated too.

Have a great weekend! Tune in on Monday where I begin another week of stories, anecdotes and inspiration.
This went out a little late because... Well, inspiration struck and it had me up until all hours of the night and then a few things simply needed to be done. If I don't write down or voice the ideas in my head when inspiration strikes, they're usually gone forever. I know I'm not alone with that!
Do you stop everything and jot it down or do you swear you'll remember...and then regrettably forget later? Or are you one of those people who remembers everything?
I want to know! You can find all of my links at https://meredithloughran.com
What do you do when inspiration strikes?
Today I'm talking about my inability to stop saying yes. What is the underlying motivation behind it? Is it the desire to keep moving forward, to please others, or to keep the dark place of depression away? The answer is yes. When do you know when to say WHEN?
Reach me at https://meredithloughran.com - I'd love to hear from you.

There is no doubt that these are dark days but I've seen an online movement where people are voluntarily going dark for a day.
This is what has been popping into my social media feed: # The Show Must Be Paused.
While I understand the need to do something, shutting up positive messaging seems counterproductive to healing. With all due respect, I disagree with this action and will continue on.
It always seems darkest before the dawn. We, as a community must come together and lift our voices higher and louder. #TheShowMUSTGoOn.
It's the beginning of a new week and a new month. Sounds like the perfect opportunity to make a fresh start. Let's start with the basic steps in communication. It's okay to be honest and open but understand that sometimes you should keep your mouth shut and listen.
Special shout out to Mel Mack of Mel Mack Acting Studio who does it for a living and helps others achieve their goals.
I hope you've enjoyed another week of WildOne Forever's The Morning Nosh. The title should actually say, "When I Am Overdoing It"
I'm reflecting on my struggles with perfectionism knowing FULL WELL that I am nowhere near perfect.
From editing a story to death until I can't stand to look at it anymore, to binge exercising where I'm actually hurting myself in a quest to feel healthy, or working too many hours because there's always work to be done...that everything else gets ignored.
The struggle is REAL. Do you tend to overdo things too? Let's talk about that.

I had the privilege of sitting on an online panel for Clever Title Pending with my friend, Brian K. Morris and guests, Luke Stone and Karl Witsman. We spoke candidly about the topic of Imposter Syndrome, or more appropriately, Imposter Phenomena.
Today, I wanted to share more thoughts on the subject.
Are you afraid of success or failure?
The majority of people I speak with tell me that fear of success is often a prohibitive thing. It's a subject I'd like to dive deeper into because I wonder if that fear causes self-fulfilling prophesies of failure. But I digress. Are you a barrier to your success because of you mindset?
Let's talk about that.

Today is Tuesday, May 26th and the topic for the Morning Nosh is following your bliss and discovering your purpose.
We all have a tendency to fall off the path that we were meant to follow but I've found that even with those deviations, we come around to where we were destined. We do that because we stand on the shoulders of giants who paved the way.

Random acts of kindness can mean the world to someone. Sometimes it's the very thing they needed at that moment. I share three moments. A devastating loss and how one community is rallying, a surprise credit that I found completely on accident, and birthday cake because I promised.

As a child, "Please, Thank you, and Excuse Me" was drummed into Meredith's head, sometimes with a smack upside the head it she wasn't being polite. But when the words come out automatically without any sincerity, doesn't that dilute or erase the meaning? We'd love to hear what you think about it.

It's May 13, 2020 and Meredith shares the genesis story of the series "I Love My Mother But..." with a special shout out to contributor, Irene P. Smith for coming up with the idea and being the first to share her story on Mother's Day. It's refreshing to read such honesty about a tough subject, especially when taking care of an aging relative with health problems. Meredith, in self-deprecating humor wonders "I love my mother but... what the heck was she thinking?" You'll have to tune in to find out what that is.

I don't usually push anything unless I feel strongly about the quality and messaging.
Way before COVID, there was a little girl who often got bullied and teased. She was a little off; didn't quite fit in; was the new girl... It didn't matter if it was a new school. A fresh start often meant a new set of mean kids. That little girl was me. And despite the hardships of my youth, I had unconditional love and support at home.
My dad was my biggest advocate and I attribute his humor and love and often misplace faith in humanity for being the person I am today. I guess that's why CatDad and SuperMom speaks to me and why I want to get this book in as many hands as possible.
It has bold lines, bold colors and bold messaging. Doing the right thing isn't always easy. Proceeds of Robert Gregory's kickstarter is being used to help send work to his local print shop.
