Another year, another take on Take on Me. I've been using this track as a barometer for how far my mixing and mastering skills improve each year. Each year I create a better version of this track from its original RAW studio takes to hope to at least equal or better the original mix whilst also make it more DJ friendly and add some subtle twists. This year my benchmark was the 2015 video mix remaster - which I consider the gold standard for this track. A/Bing this was a hoot - I've finally matched the snaps and general sonic signature whilst making it more saturated and modern - in line with the 80s new wave revival from The Weekend (whose A-ha cribbing Blinding Lights beats I've subtly repurposed in this mix - as the only non-original element). I think it's a vast step up from my previous efforts and I hope I make it even better next year.
The night I ruined Cloudland by making too many people happy.
Yet they wanted me back :o

A rare fully original remix. Wasn't sure about it until I saw the dancefloors going nuts when I played it.

FOR DJ USE ONLY
This is a mash of my reconstructed House of Pain - Jump Around to include Kris Kross - Jump, as I would more often than not mix them together anyway. The result has been dancefloor tested and it's a guaranteed heater.
DJ Muggs from Cypress Hill made the beat for “Jump Around” and played it for a few of his friends, like Ice Cube, who passed on it . Everlast wrote the rhymes and it became a House Of Pain demo, famously dismissed by Joe “The Butcher” Nicolo, whose own Ruffhouse Records later “coincidentally” released the song “Jump” by the group Kris Kross (also produced by Muggs). This earned the record exec the nickname “Joe The Biter,” as heard at the end of the album version of “Jump Around”.
Fourth time revisiting this remix I originally did in 2005 in GarageBand. It still slaps.
Big call? You decide.
First live gig since isolation. City Winery popup wine event 23.05.2020.
One hour mix for Nocturnals DJ competition. Any genre, so I chose to mix something close to heart for me - soulful ethereal ambient and dank space disco. Some of it my own, some from my country, some from my hometown (Bergen, Norway). The two tracks I chose to include released after March 01 2020 were both Aphex Twin brand new releases qu1 and prememory100N pt2. The BPM fluidly shifts throughout, from a low of 70 to a blistering 198 BPM - but is meant to put you in a chill mindspace throughout even through the dank house grooves that make you shuffle your feet at the half way mark. It is as the label proclaims, nocturnal.
This is one for headphones, mary j, or just a big ass sound system with an open mind dancing away on a sunbeam.
The MASS afterparty. Anything went. And it went for even longer, but the recording ran out :P

Found this absolute bonkers set I played at Llama-G / Johnny Brown Saturday 7th March 2015. Good times!
Came across the stems for Bad Guy so decided to redo this one with the original tracks in addition to the remade ones. Also a bit nicer structure.
Happy New Year. Just in time for the end of the year, here is our 20th anniversary remix of Madison Avenue’s seminal disco house banger Don’t Call Me Baby. If this was released today, this is what it would sound like.
2020 french disco house styles with a few surprises for you.
Hello I am back with another mix. If you'd like to hear me fuck with everyone from Todd Terje to Guy Sebastian this is the mix for you. It includes all my latest exclusive remixes and originals, live mashups and a boy themed section towards the end. You know, mall tunes.
I like it when you take control.

Two sets combined for a full night of party music! This was the soundtrack for my Riverfire party this year and it went down a treat!
Eight hours of continous party music. Hit play and you'll be sorted for the rest of your night.
“At a psychological level, having friends just makes you happier,” says Dunbar. “The kinds of things that you do around the table with other people are very good at triggering the endorphin system, which is part of the brain’s pain-management system.
As part of me upping my mixing skills I am taking original stems from well known tracks, redoing the mix and the master in the spirit of Sgt. Pepper's 50th anniversary remix.
This is Bob Marley, a little wetter and more "live" than the original Exodus master. I've salvaged a somewhat alternative end for it as well. Hope you enjoy.
RADIO ON THE RIGHT
RADIO ON THE LEFT
The only thing I wanted to do was to bring this into this century, with a fucking good mix, some flair, some mastering and some mixing availibilty. Nailed it.
Thank you original session multi track leaker.
Last minute gig - turned out to be a 21st birthday party, which fine, I can handle, and ALSO a wedding. Because who hires a venue with a random DJ for their wedding and does not tell the DJ. Motherfuckers better be happy I have a deep collection.
Oh wow. Just found out that The Kitty has shut down and will be born again as a new venue under new management for the new casino. But I couldn't have gone out on a higher note. This is pretty much as perfect a number and mix to go out on – a pure distillation of all of my Kitty gigs: An eclectic mix of disco, house and pop that's been my signature sound for the last five years. It's a place I can mix Eli Escobar into Calvin Harris and it is all good. Goodbye Kitty, I will miss you and your always challenging audience.
XXX.
(First set of 2018. I took a break to do some producing, but I'm quite excited to be playing you tunes again!)
Wall to wall party tunes that brought 400 revellers into 2018. This was such an epic set it almost literally brought the house down - the upper dancefloor wobbling and threatening to collapse. Phew!

Short one for you this time. Just had to get in that incredible Swish Swish remix from Rhythm Scholar.
Have removed downloads until I can replace the audio with a non-clipping version. This is what I get from not previewing my master all the way through.
I vote yes for equality always. This is a poppier mix than normal, but is compleletly unrelatated to my support for people loving each other and having equal rights. It just turned out that way. And I have no idea how it took this for this cover to materialise. Bless love. Extinguish hate.
Vote yes.
Found this while cleaning up my archives and I couldn't find it posted anywhere. Cleaned it up a bit so that it's fresh. This is from before I started back playing out again, and I was playing around doing mixes by hand in Logic. It obviously lends itself to a more producer / mashup style mixing, but tracklist is on point and informed a lot of what I play out still to this day. Pretty much every track here is a classic and it goes through Disco, House, Funk and even New Jack Swing (!)
For the 25th installment in Hello Kitty, I've gone deep I've gone deep I've gone deep into some deep disco. Challenge here was to avoid too many of my recurring staples lately and experiment more with live mashing and remixing. Pretty much a big tribute to Todd Terje and the scandodisco scene as well.
Impromptu five hour set at the Kitty. All the classics and some new and upcoming releases. Enjoy!
In honour of Jesse Rose retiring, here's a 2017 updated brand new blend of A Night at the Dogs + Mr Scruff's Get a Move On. A classic from my sets for over half a decade now.
From 8pm till 1.30pm. Here's the entire NYE set (minus a couple of tracks lost in transition, especially a perfect transition from Taylor Swift to Outkast). It is a smooth journey from funk to funky. From chill breaks to the countdown to pop and with a great deal of delights in between.
I was having a great deal of fun and played for an hour longer than required (and probably got paid for), but I was having so much fun and the dancefloor would have murdered me if I stopped.
(in fact some of the later tracks were specifically to get people to leave, so I could finish it off)
Final gift for you for 2016. If you want to honour Muhammad Ali in your NYE sets, this is the edit to play.
Yes, the fuck I am releasing 10 hours of audio in one day. Merry Christmas you filthy animal!
This was made for the Mayan Apocalypse in 2012. But it seems they were off a few by a few years. Thanks, America.
Recovering from an embarrassing mid-set crash, lost an hour warmup. But oh well. This is what it is all about. Sexy, housy, contemporary, summery.
First JMFE in two years. As usual, watch me throw everything and the kitchen sink to the wall to see if it sticks. I'd love to say "see me effortlessly dancing between hip hop and house and everything else", but we all know that's not true. Enjoy nonetheless.
Thematically appropriate warmup for Rocky Horror Picture Show. Could also serve as a Halloween mix.
Tropical House came and went, but it never stopped being relevant for a summer season start.
Riverfire is coming up this weekend. Two years ago I played a 5 hours+ set for it at The Kitty. Not sure why this wasn't up here, because you won't get bored for a single second of it. Maybe the strongest tracklist ever?
Loving the new Cassius album. Will play a lot of the tracks out, especially the epic title track. However, one track needed a bit of editing to be palatable for playing out: Action featuring Mike D with the master plan. It is weirdly structured and weirdly mixed. Even clipping at times. Knowing Cassius, most likely very intententionally.
I've sanded down most of those problems and made this almost ten minute track more appropriate for a DJ that wants to rep Cassius and Mike D on the dancefloor.
Considered putting this out under a pseudonym since I generally don't record party sets, but what the heck, take it for what it's worth.
Inspired by the Funboys edit of Wrong, I thought The Edge could use some more original vocals put back into it.
This is the sort of musical joke only I appreciate. The Herd - Unpredictable, in a uniform tempo.
Honestly no fucks given. This is all hip hop and house and chill. Not at all like my regular sets and still all me.
I seem to have gotten a reprieve for my HearThis account. Enjoy a new chapter in the Hello Kitty series!
So I got to The Kitty where I've been playing house for the last two years and a bit, and the DJ before me told me they've changed the music brief: more commercial after 9.30pm. Well I've never been shy of dropping commercial tracks and mixes into my sets before, but I wasn't prepared for an all commercial set. So I pivoted hard dancey nu disco / house where I was meant to play french house and nordic space discoe, towards even a few sections of droppy EDM in this set. Might not be what you expect from my sets, but I'll play just about anything (see my party sets), so if you feel like an up tempo dance-y GenErik set, this might be your thing.
It also has an odd curve. I lost the first two hours to a technical error (thanks Traktor DJ never fixing their search bug), so it starts hard, dips as the holiday crowd dissipates, then picks back up as a rush of punters show up an hour before my set ends and demands to dance (around where In Da Club shows up). It was a fun rollercoaster of a night really as I got thrown for a loop.
Recorded on the night of Maurice White's death, this became an unconscious tribute to legends both living and dead.
Their music will make them forever immortal:
Nina Simone (1933-2003)
David Bowie (1947-2016)
Michael Jackson (1958-2009)
Marvin Gaye (1939-1984)
Maurice White (1941-2016)

Apparently Djay Pro doesn't record setlists. Well okay then. Refund requested.
Still, enjoy the first Hello Kitty of 2016.
Lost the tracklist for this one for some reason. Lots of funky goodness in here though.
Goodbye 2015. If the set sounds familiar it's because I've tried cramming in as many of my 2015 favourites as possible. So there will be a lot you have heard before if you've followed my Hello Kitty series.
This is by far and away the most eclectic mix I have ever done. With the only thing tying together the 24 tracks and 22 genres is the idea of space travel and the necessary loneliness it brings.
Featuring Classical, hip hop, trip hop, future chill, trance, glitch hop, ghetto funk, funk, disco, jazz, downtempo, dubstep, rock'n'roll, soundtrack, folk, pop, house and electronica. This is a space voyage across genres.
The cold never bothered me anyway. Warming up for Frozen Sing-A-Long with some Pogo and Disney inspired tunes.
This set is dedicated to my grandfather, Finn Kambestad, who passed away that morning. It's off course hard to express loss in an uplifting house set which wasn't exactly his kind of music. Yet, he was on my mind all night, and in particular during:
Kill_mR_DJ - One Day I’m Gone Away
and the final trio:
Bit Funk - Soul Satisfaction (Club Mix)
The Weeknd - Devil May Cry (Fabich & Ferdinand Weber Edit)
Band of Horses - The Funeral (Max Klein Edit)
Another curiosity that never made the transition to HT it seems: The very first live from a bathtub DJ set. Live, raw, naked (literally), and full of great eclectic tunes from Orbital, Pink Floyd, Echo and the Bunnymen and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
