On this episode of Compete with the Stack we are joined by Coach Ty Gower. As a base 3-4 tite front guy, Coach Gower stumbled into the 3 high when preparing for a deep run in the playoffs. The tite front that he bases out of allows some alignment and fits with LB and secondary to give offenses trouble and great angles for the defense. From teaching the 4i, nose, or coverage system, Coach Gower explains how the 3 high has allowed him to be multiple and simple. This was a great time with great information. Learning the defense from a Defensive HC as a position coach, moving with that HC to current school and earning the trust to be DC and implement new ideas.
Coach talks about his defense at Liberty North and how they have manipulated the defense over the years to fit what they see on Friday nights. We dive into LB play and how coach handles having a Mike LB and 2 stack LB that are truly different positions. His every day drills, pursuit, tackling, and pass drops.

He has been the HC at Georgia power houses Walton, Ware County, and Carrollton. He is currently the HC at Winder Barrow just outside Athens. Coach is one of my all time favorites in this profession. He taught me a lesson my first year as a HC with 40 (something) to nothing beat down. He is a mentor to a ton of coaches in this state and as respected as they come. On this episode of Compete with the Stack, we are joined by Cathedral HS Defensive Coordinator Adam Barth. Cathedral went 13-1 in 2020 and captured the 5A state championship. They finished the season #19 in the country according to MaxPreps. Coach Barth was the 2020 Assistant Coach of the Year for the State of Indiana. He has been on staff at Cathedral for 15 years, 11 of those as the DC. Cathedral has ran the stack since 2008 and has won 8 state championships in Coach Barth 15 years.

On this episode of Compete with the Stack, we are joined by Coach Ben Campos (@CoachBCampos). Coach is the DC at Carbondale HS in Illinois.
From 2000 to 2014 I coached the offensive side of the ball, 10 years as an Offensive line coach. Promoted to DC in 2015. In 2016 they went all in on the 3-3 Stack.
2018 the program turned the corner. We improved ten fold in every major category defensively, 23 total turnovers, and made it to the second round of the playoffs winning our first playoff home game in 26 years by beating Champaign Central at home. Lost in the second round at Cahokia. 8-3
In 2019 continued our success defensively, went 8-2, and improved again in every major defensive category. Won a share of the conference for the first time in 27 years. Back to back playoff appearances, Conference title, WORST to FIRST

On this episode of Compete with Stack, we are join by Liberty HS Safeties Coach, Ryan Desrochers. In our quest to find the best 3-3 stack coaches across the country, Coach Desrochers is in Perioa, Arizona. They were the 2019 6A State Champions. Coach speaks on their use of the 4i Tite front and the 3 high Safety coverage. The defensive staff at Liberty was able to meet with Iowa State for a week last spring to gain knowledge of this defense.
On this episode of Compete with the Stack, we continue our travel across the country finding the best 3-3 Stack coaches. Today we have Coach Ryan Lucchesi, DC at Muskego HS in Muskego, Wisconsin. The Warriors are currently on a 28 game winning streak. Coach Lamar has a 80-24 record, won 4 region championships, 2016 state finalist, and 2016 Atlanta Falcons Coach of the Year. He also helped the Tigers to the 2008 State Championship as the Defensive Coordinator. Coach Lamar has been in the stack since 2007. I remember some battles at defensive camp with his teams. His program began running the 3-3 stack in 2012, the first state championship under Coach Gess. He dives into how they teach cover 3, LB zone read fits, and RPO from 2x2 and 3x1.

He was the Linebackers (2014) and Safeites (2015-16) at South Alabama. Before going to USA, he was the DC at South Carolina State. In 2010, his defense led the nation in total defense, rush defense, and passing defense. He was a finalist for FCS DC of the year in 2013.
