I tried to submit this episode before midnight, but it didn't happen. So, this podcast will officially be posted on a Friday, which breaks my goal, but you know what... it got published and that's all that matters.

Here is the quote I discussed:You see, if you were a betting man you would understand that now trumps later every time. The future is a sucker’s bet, a maybe, a contingency, a what-if; the only thing that is real is the present. And you’ve plundered it, robbed it of the very geniuses that might have averted the dystopia you so fear. . . Congratulations, you’ve doubled down on extinction.
*Death ... Mish mosh. It’s just a process, right?

  • The Blacklist, Season 3 Episode 6*I challenge all of you to stop betting on the future and stop allowing fear to control your now.

What would you do if you had no fear? To be continued in Episode 5...

We live in a world of perpetual comparison through social media, lifestyles, friends, finances, and more. Judging & Assessing are not synonymous though!

A judgment is a comparison between two things and carries an unpleasant tone. An assessment is the reporting of information as it appears and carries a neutral tone.
Judgment drives self-doubt and self-comparison. Assessment drives decision making.

We need to become observers in our lives! Changing this mindset framework will boost your self-esteem and easily 10X your personal growth and development.

Four behavioral economic theories mentioned:
* Sunk Cost Fallacy + A cost that is already paid with no potential for recovery. You cannot factor these in to future decisions (ex. time in toxic relationships, money spent on business rent, etc.). Don't let future decisions be impacted by past expenditures.

  • Loss Aversion

    • The pain of losing is psychologically twice as bad as the pleasure of gaining. We are more likely to take risks or behave dishonestly in order to avoid a loss.
  • Endowment Effect

    • Our tendency of overvaluing something we own, regardless of its actual market value.
  • Status Quo Bias

    • We fear we'll experience greater regret for bad outcomes following a new action than bad outcomes following inaction.

In order to prevent situations from getting to the point of sinking yourself into the quicksand of a bad situation, you must set yourself a stop loss on your time.

This episode was recorded in my car driving home from work. I've been planning this podcast for nearly 3 years, yet I've never been able to record a single episode. I made a commitment to myself that I'd at least post one episode a week in 2021, even if it meant recording it on my iPhone. Well, that's exactly what had to happen.

In this episode I discuss:

Thanks for checking out this week's episode. I hope to record in my studio for Episode #002!
