I’ve been especially excited about this episode because finding joy in everyday moments is totally my jam. There’s something special about the little things that brighten our lives—a compliment on quirky socks, letting someone ahead of you in line, or leaving a doodle on a loved one’s steering wheel. These small acts put the extra in ordinary days for extraordinary and vibrant lives.

Now, I don’t know about you, but just thinking about cheese instantly makes me smile. And if you’re a fellow meat lover, like me, we’re speaking the same language! So let’s picture that middle layer of lasagna—it’s comforting, it’s rich, it’s the part that satisfies your soul. That’s what this episode is all about: the people who fill us up, who make life so much better just by being in it. These are the people who leave you wondering if they’re angels in disguise. And yet, even though it’s easy to love them, how often do we stop to intentionally love them back? That’s what it's all about today.

The Lasagna of Lovability is a delicious masterpiece of personal growth, where each layer represents a crucial aspect of nurturing love in our lives. Just like a lasagna is carefully crafted with layers of pasta, sauce, and cheese, our journey through love ability unfolds layer by layer. I won't be able to cover the entire lasagna in one episode—it's a series! This is the first series I've done on The Vibrant Life Podcast and I'm excited. I'm coming back with a bang people. And I'm telling you, my friends, the life lessons I'm covering in this series have been hard-won. I'm so psyched to share it all with you!
The Foundation Layer: Self-Love: What makes lasagna, lasagna? It's the sturdy pasta that holds everything together, right? In The Lasagna of Love Ability, this is Self-Love. Without a solid foundation of self-love, we can't live our healthiest happiest lives. We could still use the other layers to make something delicious, but it wouldn't be lasagna, right? With self-love as a foundational layer, the other layers of love in our lives are enhanced and strengthened. Life is more vibrant.

Just as Easter symbolizes new beginnings, today's discussion centers around spring cleaning. As the season transitions and flowers start popping up everywhere, we naturally feel inclined to organize our physical spaces, but it's equally important to address the clutter within our minds and hearts. Just as we tidy up our homes, we can also declutter our inner selves, creating space for personal growth, joy, and abundance. This process entails releasing limiting beliefs, negative thought patterns, and emotional baggage that hinder our progress. Like tackling household chores, mental and emotional cleanup requires effort, but the rewards are profound. Ultimately, it leads us to a place of self-love and renewal, mirroring the timeless narrative of Easter.

Today's topic is that gentle nudge we all need: Clean Your Room. If you're like me, you tend to go in cycles. I'm pretty good at keeping things clean, but now and then I get thrown off my groove and I need to get myself back on track. I'm sure if I went back and closely looked at the patterns in my life I would see a correlation between times of my inner turmoil and the times I let my spaces fall into disorder. I'm willing to bet it's the same with you and we're going to get into reasons behind that today.

Today, I have two different metaphors to offer you: the idea of Hugging The Cactus and nature’s example of Buffalo Running Into The Storm. Life, much like a desert, presents challenges that can feel as prickly as a cactus, yet by facing them head-on, we discover the strength to endure and overcome.
We’ll intertwine both of these concepts with stories from mythology, scriptures, and real-life examples. And hopefully, we’ll discover the wisdom of embracing hardships. We won’t be perfect at this. I have a long way to go. But if we consistently work on applying the truth in these teachings, life will be easier.

In the beginning, we may feel like a sack of potatoes. We’re bound to fall many times before we’re done. But in the end, we will likely surprise ourselves with what we’ve been able to accomplish. The way before us is open and endless with possibilities. It’s up to us to get back in the saddle and seize them.

When you think less of yourself, there's less of yourself to give. Your talents stay hidden away, tucked inside your soul getting rusty. Who is that helping? No one, especially not you.
It's true that when you do love yourself, you are more capable of loving others, but that is a secondary benefit. The main reason to love yourself is that doing this makes you happy, go figure. That's the only way you're going to find lasting joy in this life. When you love yourself, your passions and talents burst out of you with abandon. Your life is made vibrant through the act of living. You'll dance if you love dancing, or bake, or experiment, or build, or create, or just simply feeling. Just feeling the emotion of love that you might have held back from yourself is powerful and so beautiful.

Because humans have an extraordinary relationship with their surroundings. We rub off on each other.

Compersion is an empathetic and whole-hearted joy that we feel when someone else has a positive experience. You can think of compersion as a cousin to compassion. We have compassion for someone when they are going through a difficult or painful experience. We feel for that person in our hearts, right? Well, compersion is that same kind of love and feeling for others. But compersion is a true joy that you feel when things go right for someone else.

I've been thinking about my message for this podcast over the last few days and I'm not going to lie, I've teared up more than once. It hits a tender spot in my heart. Today I'm talking about safe places. And we need more safe places desperately in the world right now.

I've had a few different friends ask me if I have any tools or strategies to help manage mental health problems and the short answer is, yes. I've definitely learned some things while battling my own demons. So today I'm going to share the Top Ten Mental Health Tools that have helped me most in my personal journey. However, I do need to be clear that I am not a mental health professional. I am not qualified to treat anyone. So please don't use these ideas to avoid seeking true professional help if you need it.

I'm stoked about the topic today. It's an idea that's been marinating in my mind for years now and I think my thoughts have finally come together at just the right time to share with you. Episode 50 is titled You're Not A Sissy. And it wasn't until after I wrote the title that a little tingle of joy shivered down my spine and my inner child grinned back at me thinking, "Hey, that rhymes!"

We all know people who light up the world with their smiles, don't we? One of the best feelings in the world is when you see a loved one and you see their face light up as they share a signature smile meant just for you. A simple smile can feel you right up with warm fuzzies. And if you get a hug too, whoa baby. It's magic.
So what can we do to become that kind of person? That's something to think about, right?

So this week, I personally needed a reminder, and maybe we all do, to never give up. That is the one lesson in life above all others that makes the difference, right? Shakespeare expounded on this in Hamlet's famous "To Be Or Not To Be" soliloquy. Babe Ruth commented that "It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up." And history is crammed with famous figures who will tell you that the secret to success is simply moving forward and trying again just one more time.

Today we are talking all about gifts. In honor of Christmas, I decided to just go through a rundown of some of the most meaningful gifts that we can receive. And I realize that not everyone listening to this podcast will be a Christian, and that's ok. If you are in that group I wish you lots of love and good cheer as you celebrate life in your own way. But for me, the true joy in Christmas comes from a loving Savior, Jesus Christ. So I want to share a few of the gifts that are available to us through him.

I've been looking forward to our topic today because it's something I struggle with and it's been a great reminder for me personally to remember this principle. Today we're talking about giving less than 100%. Now, before you get all huffy and anxious, hear me out. This is an idea that people have a hard time with but if you embrace it, it can make a big difference in your life.

Today is extra special because I interviewed one of the most important people in my life, My Mom, Diane Romrell. I've thought about wanting to interview her and when would be the best time and I honestly can't think of a better time or theme than the day after Thanksgiving and talking about gratitude. My mom has always put a strong emphasis on thankfulness and gratitude and she made sure that we knew how blessed we were growing up, and how blessed we all still are.

Actually, it feels like that’s when unexpected trials happen the most, right, when you are in the midst of something difficult and then life hands you another heavy thing to hold. I guess it’s kind of like weightlifting. You have to add on weight in order to to get stronger, but holy moly, it can be a painful process.

Alrighty, I took a couple more minutes in the intro today but gratitude is so key that I'm not sorry. But believe it or not, that's not the subject of the podcast today. We're diving into something much easier today and that is The Law of Inertia. This is also referred to as Isaac Newton's first law of motion. You probably remember learning about this in school. Basically, any object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion unless they are acted upon by an outside force like friction or gravity or interference from a human being. In this episode, we'll take a look at how The Law of Inertia not only applies to inanimate objects, but it's a principle that governs our personal lives as well.

Fall is the season of change and a lot of us have gone through and are still experiencing some difficult changes in the last two years. I know personally, things have been tough for me. And I found myself going back to a wonderful book called Loving What Is by Byron Katie.
This is one of those life-changer books that I think everyone should read. I'll put a link to the book in the show notes. But seriously Peeps, if you can wrap your head around the principles she teaches in this book, you will be able to find a higher level of peace and self-confidence that you might not have believed possible.

You know, it's the little simple things that bring us the most joy. I love the book Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery and that story highlights this idea in many ways. There's even a quote I love in the book where Anne says, "I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string." I think that quote holds so much truth.
One of the projects I worked on this last week was going through my clothes and donating stuff I don't use anymore. I got to thinking about the benefits of decluttering a space and enjoying simple things. So today we're talking about minimalism.

I'm super excited about the topic this week which is The Power In Naming Things. This is an idea that might not come naturally for you, but let me tell ya, it is magical. To be honest, I may go a little overboard on this at times. I like to name everything from my houseplants (many of which are named after loved ones), to my guitar (Caliope, the Head Muse in Greek Mythology), to my toaster (Amos, just cuz I think it's a fun name). But the principle of naming things goes a lot deeper.

I’m excited about our topic today on Consumers & Creators. I like it because I’m a sucker for alliteration. But what I really love is the duality. We are all consumers and we are all creators. In honor of the twenty-fifth episode, we’re discussing one of my favorite ideas today. Be A Warrior Not A Worrier. This is one of the many personal mottos or themes that I’ve adopted in my life and it’s a powerful one. So this week I want to talk about rain. We tend to think of rain as a downer, literally the sky pours down on us, and we understandable can feel discouraged or depressed. But like the Luke Bryan song, I think it’s important to remember that Rain Is A Good Thing. If we can embrace the rain in our lives, we’re not only going to grow into better people but we’ll be a heck of a lot happier.

What I'm really interested in, however, is the meaning behind the word abracadabra. We don't know the exact etymology for sure but I'm fascinated by two origin theories. Some scholars think it comes from an Aramaic phrase avra kehdabra, meaning “I will create as I speak”. Others think it's from the Chaldean abbada ke dabra, meaning “perish like the word”. That's right, my friends. I know it took a minute to get here but today we are literally discussing the magic and power in words. This is something that I personally am very passionate about.

the ABCDE Model is great for when you find yourself being overtaken by your emotions. I use it when I have a panic attack, or when I'm feeling particularly stressed out and my mind is going crazy. Which I'll admit happens more than I'd like. But it happens less and with less intensity since I've been putting in serious effort and work on being more mindful.
This is a mindfulness technique that lets you examine your thoughts and how your thinking is affecting you. I like it because you can count the steps right on your hand and it is also a grounding technique that helps give you a sense of control. It only takes a few minutes to go through all the steps.

It's been a pattern coming down the line going several generations in our family. I don't say this to brag. Our family is far from perfect. Today we're talking about the Outward Expressions Of You Inside. The ideas I want to share have been marinating and simmering around my head for a while. There are a lot of layers to the topic so just like in the classic movie Shrek, we'll peel our way to the center like an onion. That's all the cooking/food metaphors for this episode, I promise.
To kick this off I want to focus on the fact that almost everything in our lives is a reflection of our thoughts, beliefs, and inner well-being. The truth is that we literally create the world around us and although there are many outside circumstances that we can't control, we have command over much more than we sometimes realize. And taking a good look at the outward expressions in our lives gives us a glimpse of what is happening inside. Then we can truly be mindful and make any changes as needed.

Humans have a deep sense of what is true and what is not true. When we hear something that is true, our first response is an inward yes. Think of the spark of light that comes into someone's countenance as they understand a new concept. It could be a math principle, spiritual knowledge, or anything in between. But that light that comes into a person's eyes is the soul saying yes.

Today we're talking about Prospering By Degrees. This is something that I've thought a lot about over a long period of time. I've contemplated the nature of growth and achievement and what it means to become a higher version of yourself. What is required to level up in life?
The truth is that personal development is a process. It doesn't happen instantaneously. If you look at any big success or achievement you can break it down into building blocks of ideas and actions. These ideas and actions grow in fascinating ways and compound exponentially. Sometimes the growth is rapid because the excitement and energy behind the effort are massive. Other times things take longer to develop. But the timeframe is not necessarily as important as the process or model it takes to get where you want to go.
