Happy New Year! We're kicking off the New Year of (Not) The Only One with the whole youth ministry team, Shelly, Avery, Amy, and Lauren. This week Avery and Lauren are talking all about Divine Mercy Sunday! On this episode, we share our personal journeys with Divine Mercy, the life of St. Faustina, and close by praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet (we invite you to pray with us!) The Lord has an abundance of love to bestow on you. A love that outweighs our sins and shortcomings. Through this love, He calls us into deeper trust with Him.
St. Pope John Paul II established Divine Mercy Sunday as a Church feast day (the first Sunday after Easter. ) He had a great love for St. Faustina who gave us so many gifts through her diary, the Divine Mercy painting, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. She teaches us what it looks like to suffer well, to have child-life faith, and to put Jesus first, always.

Rafy Piscopo, Life Teen Full-Time Missionary, joins us from Hidden Lake! We first met Rafy back in 2017 at Life Teen Hidden Lake Summer Camp when he was a summer missionary. Today we talk about evangelization (sharing our faith with others) and how to actually put that into action. Rafy shares his own faith journey, including trying to balance sports and an active faith life, in addition to how you can be Christ's light in your own unique way.

Katie Knoefel joins Lauren this week to talk about one of our very favorite people: St. Teresa of Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a bold little woman who changed the world with her radical love and service for the poor. She teaches us that we are capable of doing small acts each day and that even amidst great suffering, Jesus is close and thirsts for us. Katie shares part of her personal testimony and teaches us how to practically apply a lot of Mother Teresa's wisdom in our own lives.

Avery Utz is here today to share part of her personal testimony, what her tattoo means, and practical things to do if you find yourself in a season where God feels anything but near.
We'll talk about things like consolation and desolation (and what does that even mean?) and acknowledge that you are not the only person that has felt this way in our faith. This is an important topic and we are looking forward to diving in, knowing that even if it doesn't feel like it in the moment, God is faithful and present with us.
One of the questions we get the most is, "how do I make God a part of my every-day-life?" We couldn't think of a better way to kick off the year, then to talk about the Holy Spirit (aka the answer to this question.) Amy Bojarski, St. Matthew's Family Programs Coordinator, joins us to share her personal testimony and advice on how to grow in our own relationship with the Holy Spirit.
