I'm a late 40's guy who misses the way things used to be when people were welcome to share their views in a group setting. I look forward to tackling today's issues and how they impact us, the people on Main Street. Some topics will tackle issues that are timely like how COVID has impacted our lives. With that said, not every discussion will be tied to current events as it could just be about topics that we all think about, like how Social Media has impacted us for the better or worse. It's all good fun and hopefully entertaining!
Season 2 gets off to a different start than my normal "Rant". Things are challenging right now, the environment is in hell literally. The pandemic will just not let us go back to normal life and move on. Throw in tragedy in Afghanistan which has people pointing fingers at one another. So not much has changed everyone is pissed.
Ok, what a rough paragraph, but here is the point I want to make. When there is a lot of negativity it can be very triggering for people battling depression and anxiety. Obviously, there is a lot of levels and layers of depression and anxiety, which is all overwhelming.
Tonight I interview Nicole Sylvester who is a certified "Life Coach" and will help you understand that she isn't about crystals, dream catchers, and palm reading. She focuses her clients on the "Here and Now" and never your past. We chat about how Social Media and poor behavior from adults are setting up our children for failure. Sometimes getting out of your house and enjoying nature with a person who is rooting for you is all you need.
We all need a person who won't judge and be your biggest advocate. If you have been waiting for such a person, then give Nicole Sylvester a chance to be your new best friend.

Parents, if you have a kid about to go to High School or have a kid in High School I highly recommend you tune into this podcast. My guest is Cyndy Palermo the "College Whisperer" if you will. She will break down everything from standardized testing pre and post COVID, as well as how to choose schools, to explaining the WUE program. She also explains comparatives between public, private, and charter schools. If you are a student or parent overwhelmed about what is achievable and what it will take to get into the college of your choice, here is the podcast that should provide you with a starting point.
Today I tackle a topic near and dear to my heart, which is the state of teaching. Everybody in my home state (California) feels like it's their god-given right to throw teachers under the bus for the delay or issues tied to getting kids back into schools. I understand the frustration as we have just hit the 1-year mark, but I know for a fact that teachers hate teaching virtually more than you or your kids do. The bigger question is why do we always want to blame teachers for everything wrong with education? I have two questions:
If Teachers pulled an Atlas Shrugged and walked away from teaching, what would be the back-up plan? No one wants the job as I will illustrate in today's podcast. The second question is why don't teachers just give the general public the bird, dig in and get what they are entitled to? It's pretty simple, more than anything teachers care for our kids, hence the reason they put up with general public bullying and crappy pay.
Mayor Sue Noack sits down to explain the state of Pleasant Hill and our schools in this very informative podcast. She sheds some light and insight into Measure C, MDUSD budget issues, and how we are a community are dealing with the pandemic. I hope to have her on the show to help us understand a multitude of different topics, but for now, Stand Down and listen to Mayor Sue shed some light on some very complicated topics.
Jim Keck and Ray Meadows discuss the effects of COVID-19 and the inability of high school athletics to be played in the State of California.
Jody Knight and Kelsey Dearborn share their experiences as frontline healthcare professionals during the pandemic. These two women walk us through how they juggled their dangerous careers to try and create a sense of normalcy at home. They were also one of the first recipients of the vaccine. Join me for this riveting interview!
