On In this month's Women's Spotlight, join us as Tara interviews Robin Sutara, an extraordinary individual who has left an indelible mark on the tech landscape. With her roots in Bernice, Louisiana, Robin's journey is a testament to resilience and achievement.
Robin's tech saga began at Norwich University, where she fearlessly tackled the challenges of being one of the few women in computer engineering. Her early aptitude for Boolean logic and abstract algebra foreshadowed a career that defied expectations.
Having served in the U.S. Army near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, Robin demonstrated unwavering dedication in the male-dominated world of electrical, electronic, and armament systems on Apache helicopters.
In her 25-year tech career, Robin has navigated roles at Microsoft and currently at Databricks, ascending from an entry-level consumer support engineer to a position in the C-Suite. Her commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace mirrors her passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Beyond professional achievements, Robin co-chairs the Women in Data Safety Committee, earning recognition as one of the Top 20 Women in Data and Tech in 2023. Her academic pursuits, including a juris doctorate and master's in law, highlight her comprehensive approach to data governance.
Robin's personal narrative is equally compelling—an inspiring journey of overcoming domestic violence, being a proud mother of four daughters, and conquering physical challenges. Her fitness journey, starting with shedding over 100 pounds and culminating in completing an Ironman and five marathons, mirrors her determination and commitment to excellence.
After three transformative years in London, Robin has returned to her U.S. roots, bringing with her a global perspective shaped by diverse experiences. Robin's life journey isn't just a series of accomplishments; it's a testament to breaking barriers, championing diversity, and crafting a legacy that echoes beyond borders.

On this month´s Women´s Spotlight, Tara speaks with Kristina Brun, an executive and leadership coach and corporate facilitator who previously spent 15 years leading teams in advertising tech and marketing at companies (Yahoo, Verizon, and Hearst) ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 100 companies. Today, she helps technology leaders advance their careers, make better decisions, execute change effectively, develop innovative solutions, and successfully engage their teams.
Kristen is a board-certified coach as well as an ICF-credentialed coach (the gold standard). In addition to an undergraduate business degree from the University of Southern California, she has a Master's degree in Management, Strategy, and Leadership from Michigan State University. She is also I’m also a certified practitioner with the Applied Improvisation Network and a Certified Consultant for the Big Five Workplace assessments.
Kristen is also a founder and executive Coach at Emboldify. She was a guest speaker at the Women Tech Global Conference on May, 2023, discussing "How improvisational thinking makes you a better leader."
She took her first improv lesson in 2016. Not only did she fall in love with the art form, community, and sheer fun of improv, but she also discovered she was gaining skills that would benefit her in many aspects of her life, especially work. She gained confidence, improved her ability to think clearly, increased her self-awareness and empathy, became more present in the moment, and felt more creative than she had since she was a child.
In her spare time, she can be found playing with her improv group, Required Taste, in San Francisco and at festivals across the country. She is also likely to be seen skiing, crocheting, trying new restaurants, reading, listening to podcasts, or relaxing at home with her fiancé and their two cats.
On the show, Kristen talks about time when she started to work for the Startup tech company and how she felt she had a "seat" at the table, which is exactly what she wants. Later, she began to have issues with the company since she was unfairly blamed for various things. She now wished she had the confidence to tell them that this is not acceptable. She also discusses how she moved away from it and overcame the trauma.
On this month´s Women´s Spotlight, Tara speaks with Martyna Shallenberg, a talented and fearless engineering leader with a diverse background in science and technology. At Myriad Genetics, she is in charge of a 23-person engineering team dispersed throughout the U.S. and South America.
Martyna was born in Poland and escaped communism with her parents to live as refugees in West Germany. In the US, Martyna received a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology and took a winding career path before landing in the male-dominated tech sector.
In Myriad Genetics, she directs ongoing efforts to automate and streamline workflows with the revenue cycle to help provide genetic testing within oncology, women’s health, and mental health. She has also founded a Women in Technology Group to support and mentor women’s careers in technology. She has also been recognised for creating a company culture of inclusivity and individual career development while creating a management book club to help inspire future leaders to set and achieve career aspirations.
On the show, Martyna discusses how she left Poland and what it was like to be a refugee in Germany. How life changed again when they had to return to Poland, and how the expectation was very different from reality. In the end, the family were able to move to the USA, which had always been their end goal. This is one of the life lessons she has learned: no matter what your circumstances are, you can always make it work with what you have.
The Women's Spotlight for this month is unique. On this episode, Tara doesn’t have any guests, but she had the honour and pleasure of being one of the speakers at the Women in Tech Global Conference in May 2023 and is sharing the speech she gave. The Women in Tech Global Conference is the largest conference for women in the tech industry. This hybrid conference brought together women in tech, minorities, and allies from all over the world.
This talk is about unleashing the power of femininity in the workplace and in leadership. Tara also shares something from her childhood and explains what made her the person she is and got her to the place she is today. From a very early age, she learned the difference between how men were supposed to act and how women were expected to behave. Whether it’s correct or not, our society labels certain qualities, such as being logical, tough, and powerful, as masculine traits and nurturing, intuitive, collaborative, creative, and emotional, as feminine ones.

On the show, Svetlana speaks among other things, how the way she was raised gave her the leaderships skills she has today. Her father taught her discipline and always be “hungry”. She also tells how she started her first business in Russia and how was different than it would be in here.
This month’s Women’s Spotlight Tara sits down with Lisa Murphy, a leading content strategist turned coach. In her early 50s, she's gracefully reinventing herself in significant ways such as starting new habits for her health, including fitness and sobriety. At the start of the pandemic, despite so much uncertainty, she also had the courage to leave a job that wasn't bringing her joy. Now she's following her heart: She started @50ForwardClub on Instagram providing wisdom and inspiration for women over 50, and her community has been featured in the Globe & Mail. Lisa is also a mindset coach who helps empower women to gain more clarity and confidence, try new things, have more fun, and pursue goals that are more aligned with their needs and values.
On the show, Lisa speaks among other things, how she wanted to create this Instagram society for pro-aging, uplifting women to be a place where women over 50 can share laughs. The account’s idea is to bring together women’s voices to lift others up. It has been a real passion project for her.
On this month´s Women´s Spotlight, Tara speaks with Dorothy Bossé, an Empowerment Coach, Certified transformational Coach and Certified health and life Coach. Dorothy helps women to reconnect with their personal power, recover their energy, and become intentional artists of their destiny. She works mainly with successful women, who in the process of driving results, are also driving themselves to physical and mental exhaustion.
Dorothy branched out to life coaching after successful 18-year corporate career. She realized that she needed to do something different when she observed repeatedly that her interest in people's personal development and integrity within themselves were much more important to her than driving the bottom line for her personal advancement. It turns out this is the work she has been training to do all her life.
Dorothy speaks how she helps her customers, what is the current reality, how do they feel in their current life and with themselves. Dorothy advices to do you, not what is someone else’s perspective and how to learn to speak ourselves more kindly.
On this month's spotlight, we have award-winning author, journalist, ghostwriter, and speaker Trish Snyder. She is a well-known copywriter that been in business for over 20 years. Trish has directed content for best-in-class companies like Amica Senior Lifestyles, LCBO and TD.
By using this knowledge, she has created a framework that helps entrepreneurs jumpstart their businesses on how to use their fullest potential by connecting with their customers. Using strategic brand storytelling that resonates deeply with customers to attract more engagement, more followers and more leads. In the interview, she explains a saying “give a person a fish and feed them for a day or teach them to fish and feed them for life” and how this expression inspired her to teach the tools entrepreneurs need to further succeed in their career.
She lives with her family in Toronto, where she is committed to raising at least $100,000 for worthy causes as a way of giving back to the community. Being an Environmentally friendly advocate is another topic she touches on.
This month, Tara speaks with Jody Steinhauer, a successful entrepreneur and CEO of a multi-million dollar company – The Bargains group. Jody has mobilized her winning discounted wholesale product to change the business landscape. She talks about her philosophy to “Give back where you live” where she is an advocate and runs a charity called Kits for a cause. She is also the founder of Engage and Change where she inspires people and businesses to exchange in a hands-on experience with a tangible outcome that will change the lives of those in need.
This month Tara speaks with Moira Ni Ghallachoir, an incredible woman and International Business Mentor and Speaker. Moira has built and empire for herself from making 30K a year to now making a multi six figure income. She will speak about how important listening to your inner voice is and how far she has come by simply listening to hers.
Moira went from working as a fulltime youth worker in London to packing her bags to go to France for the weekend to take a moment for herself when she heard her inner voice to go home back to Ireland. She quit her career as a Youth Worker in London and drove back home to her small town Donegal in Ireland where she quickly started a trave business to help her community, which was a huge success, to helping individual businesses grow their business grow to speaking all around the world inspiring people. She now stands for inspiring freedom in women to be recognised for who they truly are, living a life they love and lifting the lives of others as they do.

This month Tara sits down with Juliana Diaz. Juliana is a Teacher, Mentor, and Healer but not only is she all of these things she is an incredible woman and influence. She speaks, teaches, and heals from a place of experience which makes so special.
Juliana has her own personal experience with sexual traumas, body dysmorphia, infertility, anxiety/depression and renewal after divorce, which allowed for an evolution in her mentorship services to include a holistic, empowering, yet gentle and organically effective approach to guiding women towards their Balance; their personal equilibrium from which peace and wellbeing can arise.
She spent many years counselling immigrants to Canada, specifically Latin Americans, faced with the many challenges moving to a new country involves.

Luisa has been in real estate for over 20 years and is a power house in her field, she is also a relocation expert. She is not only number one in her branch but she is number 25 in all of Canada for REMAX and number 69 World wide for REMAX.
Luisa talks about how she believes her strong sense of values was inherited from her family. She talks about how she comes from a diverse background and how that helped her becomes the person she is today.

This month Tara speaks with Jody-Ann Stone aka Chef Jody. Tara digs deep and learns about the amazing inspiration Chef Jody is to not only the women in her community but to all women.
Jody-Ann Stone moved to Canada from Jamaica 10 years ago, she started cooking back in Jamaica at the age of 9 years old. She started cooking at home to help her mother who was a single mother of 10. Jody-Ann grew a passion for cooking and people were noticing her skills in the kitchen and inspired her to make a business for herself. Now here she is!
Jody-Ann's goal is to bring women together and inspire them to be their most authentic selves. She not only strives to see women come together and fix each others crowns but she is hosting the 1st annual Women Empowerment Gala and Exhibition being held on March 5th, 2022.
