Singlish Punk

Singlish Punk (B.O.A or BoA) plays with experimental noise, DIY electronics and improvised instruments as a spatial exploration into the aural arts. Singlish Punk is a pseudonym that was started by multidisciplinary performance artist Kai Lam in 2005 as a means to resist the consumerist tendencies & cultural hegemony in urban living; Singlish Punk celebrates the hydridisation of diverse languages and cultures; seeking self-autonomy in the name of cultural and political freedom through the pluralist approach of Lam's art practice.

"Wave” interprets music as interplay of form and experience, an artistic quest for a new reading of sound. It is an experimentation of sound texture of the analogue signals and strings giving the experience of being on the beach. It uses extended techniques to create patterns on matter to organize sound visually. It is an audible proxy for questioning the relationship between sound, motion, site specific locations and colors.
