ULEZ Expansion - which will cost London 100s of millions in infrastructure and scrappage schemes, will have a virtually negligible impact benefitting the climate or London's toxic pollution, according to Transport of London's own commissioned report. Tragically over 20 people died last week while caught in a snowstorm in a holiday mountain resort of Murree in Pakistan last week. Our condolences and thoughts with the loved ones of those lost. My good friend Reza Adil, is holidaying in Islamabad, and actually tried to reach Murree shortly before the worst happened, not realising the disaster that was to unfold. Thankfully he never made it, but not without a terrifying experience for himself and his family members too, on the treacherous icy roads of a barrier-less narrow winding mountain road. 'Brown Car Guy & Buddies' - Sue Baker was one of the original hosts of Top Gear, appearing on 100 programmes over 11 years from 1980 to 1991. She also raced, co-drove with Michele Mouton (in a short-wheelbase Audi Quattro Sport rally car), Derek Bell and others, as well as covering the legendary James Hunt vs Niki Lauda era in Formula 1.
She is an award-winning motoring writer, editor & broadcaster with almost 50 years of experience of reviewing cars and reporting on motorsports and motoring matters, as one of the first women journalists on the scene in the late 60s and early 70s.
As well as her love and obsession with cars and all things technical, instilled from a very early age, her ambition was to be a journalist in fabled Fleet Street, starting out at local newspapers in Kent, studying journalism at a college in Essex and ultimately writing for almost every major newspaper including Observer, Daily Telegraph, Independent, Daily Mail, Daily Star, Daily & Sunday Express, Times and Sunday Times.

But that's not all he has done - he's designed small aircraft and boats, created an art and peace project for children (OnlyHearts.org, designed sets for the United Nations, produced amazing pieces of art, run seminars on creativity, done inter-faith work, created a solar-heated community shower with UNICEF for a village in Guatemala, designed newspapers, run seminars at the Smithsonian, received recognition as an Aviation Pioneer, won trophies for work on rotorcrafts - and his autogiro is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum - on and how could I forget to mention the 23-string DWIJ Veena guitar creations?!
He talks about car and transport design, 'escaping' America and moving to London in the Swinging Sixties, being inspired by the pilot of Little Nelly from the Bond movie, creating a flying home, channeling spirituality in all his work and creations, the human condition, Black Lives Matter, his aircraft designs and his hope for humanity going forward.

'Brown Car Guy & Buddies' - Jorge Ferrari is one of the leading photographers in the UAE, but he's been based in the region as far back at 1986 in Kuwait, where he found himself caught up in the invasion by Iraq. Ever the professional, his pictures were the first seen by the world from inside occupied Kuwait as he was shooting for Reuters.
He talks about how his big escape plan failed miserably and he was caught and saved, in a manner, only by Maradona.
He later moved to the UAE and went on to shoot motoring and motorsports, extreme sports and other events, meeting some of the biggest names in the sporting world along the way. I met him in Dubai in 2006, we became good friends and I worked regularly with him on car shoots and events. Plus he gives some great advice and tips on how to be a great photographer.

In fact I first met him at a drift event at Umm Al Quwain, where he was covering Jordan's drift king, Ahmad Daham.
Jaafari says he is "an automotive content creator - which means that I spend most of my time either behind a computer screen, a camera or a steering wheel, and the best part is that this is how I make a living!

Exclusive interview with car design legend Gordon Murray on his new supercar, the amazing T.50 from Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA), the true successor to the iconic McLaren F1.
Lamenting that no one had appeared to create a true follow-up to the F1, and to mark his own 50th year in the business, Murray set out to create not only modern-day F1, but what he claims will be the definitive and last great ‘analogue’ supercar.
The T.50, created under his own brand Gordon Murray Automotive is as extraordinary as its illustrious forebear with three abreast seating in a car that’s smaller than Porsche 911. It will have a totally unique and bespoke 3.9-litre V12 engine that revs to a record-breaking 12,100rpm and produces 660bhp. All this in a car weighing less than a ton at 986kg.
To keep it planted and to ensure standard-setting ride and handling dynamics, the T.50 will have the most advanced and effective aerodynamics ever seen on a road car thanks to a unique show-stopping huge 400mm rear-mounted fan.
The car features sensational scissor (or dihedral as described by Murray) doors, and gullwing rear compartment lids to show off the incredible Cosworth developed power unit and luggage space. Like the F1, it has a central, very driver-focussed driver position, with passenger seats flanked on each side.
Most astonishingly of all, the T.50 comes not with an automatic or flappy paddle gearbox but an actual H-pattern 6-speed manual transmission nestled in a narrow floor-mounted console. The steering too is only assisted at parking speeds and on the move reverts back to being purely mechanical.
Only 100 will ever be made with a pre-tax price tag of £2.36 million each, and production of will begin at Gordon Murray Automotive’s UK production facility in January 2022 – with a year of testing and development to take place between now and then. Most of the cars are already spoken for, but apparently there is some availability and there will be a Middle East sales and service office in Abu Dhabi. The Amazing Journey from selling old mags in India to PR for FCA in Dubai
In this episode I chat to my good buddy, Neville Darukhanawalla. A self-confessed automotive buff, Neville Jal Darukhanawalla has been associated with cars and bikes since his school days in the late 1980s. A two-time national champion, racing scooters in his native India, he has raced in different forms of motorcycle sport – road racing, motocross, rallies, flat track, trials and what have you. A massive fan of Formula One and MotoGP – in fact, of all forms on motor racing, he believes that racing improves the breed.
He was the team leader of a marathon expedition crossing the inhospitable Sahara Desert in 1990 – on a 100cc scooter, no less – traversing north to south from Morocco, Algeria, Niger and onto Nigeria, a distance of nearly 10,000kms. With a total trip time of 28 days, he led his teammates for a collective riding time of 17 days as they overcame all that nature, man and machine could throw at them with aplomb.
A motoring journalist since 1987, he switched over to the other side in 2008 and was, till last year, looking after public/press relations at Fiat Chrysler Middle East as the PR Manager. He is always looking out for adventure and making new friends. Affable, helpful, inviting and always acceptable to criticism – he is always approachable and ready to talk things automotive and otherwise too!

Meet Bakur Azher of Saudi Auto, he is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's most senior and established motoring journalist. His journey started through a love affair with a Jaguar E-Type and subsequently starting the country's first dedicated automotive publication.

'Brown Car Guy & Buddies' In this episode I speak to John Gardiner who has been at Ford Motor Company for 30 years and currently has two jobs - Executive Director, Communications & Public Affairs, Ford of Britain & Ireland, and Corporate Communications, Ford of Europe.
As well as a PR guru, he's also a Muslim revert, a student of Chinese and Malay Fighting skills, and of course a fellow Trekkie! We find out about his unique career path from selling classic American muscle at aged 12 to Ford Exec via a catering and Custom Car magazines.
In light of the the lockdown from the COVID-19 Coronavirus and now the #BlackLivesMatter movement and new reports about BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) communities in the UK, the conversation inevitably turned to how a big car company like Ford deals with these issues. There is some encouraging information about that and the post-Lockdown response of the automotive industry, as well tantaslising insight into what's to come from Ford of Europe!

Kevin Haggarthy is a pioneer of motoring journalism in the UK: the first black motoring journalist, a motor industry consultant, race and high performance driving instructor, serial classic-car owner and a presenter of the Pulling Power car show on TV in the early 2000s.
