He brings a combination of political engagement and grassroots advocacy experience to the position having previously worked on several political campaigns including for Virginia Senator Mark Warner and former President Barack Obama. In addition to previous trade association experience, having worked as an External Mobilization Campaign Manager for the American Petroleum Institute, Mario’s extensive experience includes working as a Senior Political and Community Organizer for the SEIU. Most recently he served as a Vice President, Grassroots for BCW Global where his work included managing public relations, regulatory, and issue advocacy campaigns for a broad and varied client base that included trade associations, technology companies, and some of the world’s most influential brands.
Mario is responsible for providing public relations direction and public policy support for AOBA’s state and local advocacy efforts and managing the organization’s grassroots initiatives. He joins the Communications team and will work closely with the government affairs staff to enhance AOBA’s ability to communicate internally and externally on issues important to the membership.
Mario received his BS from Cornell University, his ALM from Harvard University and his JD from New York Law School. He is currently pursuing an MBA from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business.

Liz earned a Masters of Science in Strategic Communications from Columbia University in 2019. She is an active volunteer and Board member for Experience Camps, a one-week free summer camp for children who've lost a loved one. She is also a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and committee member for the Dying Well Initiative of the Global Wellness Institute. In her free time, she is on a global search for the spiciest food.

Born and raised in Michigan he received his undergraduate degree in Welding Engineering from Pennsylvania College of Technology and has spent over 10 years in a variety of engineering roles for diverse industries including; Aerojet focusing on precision guided munitions, and Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory developing next generation nuclear reactor technology.
He specializes in the intersection of new technology, automation, and critical safety environments holding multiple patents in diverse fields from mechanical engineering, to welding engineering, to aerospace engineering disciplines. In 2017 he founded DASH Systems with the mission and vision to perform next day deliveries anywhere on the globe. This vision is accomplished by enabling precision commercial air drops that allow any aircraft to safely launch and land cargo mid flight. With Joel as the CEO DASH Systems has been at the forefront of the growth and expansion of precision air drop technologies including numerous patents, deployments into multiple hurricanes and active disaster recovery efforts, department of defense contracts, and commercial deliveries to service rural remote and hard to reach communities.

Mitch’s research examines interpersonal models of internalizing symptoms and health risk behaviors among adolescents, with a specific focus on the unique role of peer relationships in the developmental psychopathology of depression and self-injury. His has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and 9 books, including an undergraduate textbook in clinical psychology, graduate volumes on assessment and treatment in clinical child and adolescent psychology, a set of encyclopedias on adolescent development, and the acclaimed trade book, “Popular: Finding Happiness and Success in a World That Cares Too Much About the Wrong Kinds of Relationships.”
He is a past Editor for the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and a past-president of the Society for the Science of Clinical Psychology and the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. Mitch currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Psychological Association. Mitch’s longstanding commitment to students’ professional development training is reflected in dozens of invited addresses at local and national conferences, as well as several publications including the APAGS Workbook on the internship selection process, The Portable Mentor, and his uncensored advice for admission to psychology graduate programs. Mitch’s most important contributions are reflected in the success and happiness of his students who have made enormous impacts by pursuing their true passions and being confident in their own abilities.

This entails conducting early-stage project financial analysis, designing solar arrays, and conducting market research.
Prior to his work at Sol, Miles completed a renewable energy fellowship at ITility, where he conducted chemical analysis and project management for an animal waste to energy contract. While studying Environmental Science at UVA, Miles researched photonics and perovskite solar cells. Continuing his education, Miles completed a year-long certificate in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy through the Yale Center of Business and Environment (CBEY) in May 2020. He was recently awarded the Leadership in Green Power Education from the EPA and CRS and the JEDI Champion Award from CELI for his efforts in diversifying the clean energy candidate pool.

The events industry was hit hard due to the pandemic and many businesses called it quits, but the founder of Choura Events, Ryan Choura, refused to give up. We sit down with him to talk about how he transformed his events company from concerts and awards shows to helping hospitals with medical tents and testing stations.

After 20 years of building and producing some of the country's most iconic events such as Coachella, BNP Paribas Open, San Diego Comic-Con, and the US Open Championship, Ryan led a series of pragmatic pivots to keep his team together and his doors open.
While other event companies went virtual or closed their doors, Ryan fought for a way to bring America back to work by building the largest COVID-19 testing facilities in the nation via his newly founded company, Lifeline Health Services.
The large-scale COVID-19 testing site is now open in the Inland Empire, provides same-day results, and has the capacity to test over 40,000 people a month.
Additionally, to help Orange County and Hollywood restaurants keep their patrons safe and their doors open, Choura worked with the city and local businesses to deliver the most extensive build-outs in Southern California — including over 3,600 square feet of level raised decks and curated outdoor dining space for Laguna Beach’s Forest Ave and Craig’s in Hollywood.
These strategic initiatives follow Ryan and team’s delivery of multiple builds for local hospitals — work which garnered Ryan attention from Marc Cuban, Rolling Stone, The Los Angeles Times, Billboard, and Bloomberg.
Ryan and the Choura team are using their event and COVID-19 testing expertise to now pioneer the safe return of live events, starting with a live event that took place on July 23rd this year and caught the attention of the Hollywood Reporter.
Ever guided by his mantra “Don’t Be Boring,” Ryan continues to channel goodness and meaning into everything he builds — from festivals and sporting events to testing venues and hospital sites.

She moved to Boston in 2014 to attend a Master of Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and work as a Research fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. She focused her studies on the nature of innovation, the reactions to it and the conditions of its orchestration at the individual and collective level. She has taught leadership and social innovation in several institutions, including Brown University, Harvard University, the Instituto de Empresa Business School in Madrid, the African Development University in Niger and the Albert Einstein Medical School of Sao Paulo. She co-created her consulting company, the Leadership Lab International with Dr. Houman Harouni of Harvard University in 2019.

In 2012, she joined Duke Faculty after completing a second Internal Medicine residency, followed by a Pulmonary & Critical Care fellowship at Duke.
Mashael servesas the Medical Director of the ICU as well as Respiratory Care Service at Duke Regional Hospital. She is also the Interim Medical Director of Pulmonary & Critical Care services at Duke Raleigh. Mashael also serves as the Secretary and Treasurer of the NC Thoracic Society and is an active board member on the Durham County Hospital Board of Trustee. Along with her administrative duties, Mashael enjoys the clinical challenges that present themselves while rounding in the Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional and Duke Raleigh Medical Intensive Care units (ICU).
Mashael is also currently pursuing her MBA at Fuqua School of Business. Having been a clinician for over 15 years, she finds herself gravitating towards the administrative and business aspects of healthcare. The innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic planning is something she enjoys and looks forward to using to bridge the gap between clinicians and the hospital administration landscape.

Chris Pollard became Duke University's 25th head baseball coach in June of 2012, taking over the reins of the Blue Devil program after successful stints at Pfeiffer University and Appalachian State University. Pollard led the Blue Devils to a magical postseason run in the NCAA Tournament in 2019, culminating in the program’s second straight and second NCAA Super Regional appearance. The NCAA Tournament selection marked the second consecutive appearance for the Blue Devils and the third in the last four seasons. The first head coach to lead Duke to the NCAA Tournament since the Kennedy administration, Pollard is also the fastest Blue Devil head coach to reach 100 wins in Durham.
Pollard graduated from Davidson in 1996, earning a B.A. in psychology with a concentration in child and adolescent development. He played professionally in both the Western League and the Northern League before returning to Davidson to begin his coaching career. Pollard also received a Master's degree in physical education/health education from Mississippi State in 2004. His wife, Stephanie, is a 1997 Davidson graduate. The couple resides in Durham with their two sons: Thomas and Brady.

Naval Academy’s Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership he helped teams of all kinds improve communication, agility, diversity, inclusion, and positive culture, so they are more effective in reaching their goals. Krieger co-wrote the Emmy award-winning mini-series A Year in the Life and was nominated for a Humanitas Prize for the Disney Channel original movie, Going to the Mat. Among his more than 25 produced credits, Krieger wrote the animated classic The Land Before Time for producers Steven Spielberg & George Lucas and ten original movies for the Disney Channel, including Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century and its two sequels, Tru Confessions, Smart House, Phantom of the Megaplex, and Cow Belles. He has been a story editor and writer on Spielberg’s Amazing Stories and the supervising producer on the ABC Television series Jack’s Place. He served as the head writer and story editor of the animated preschool series Toot & Puddle on Nickelodeon in 2008-2009. His first full-length play, Chasing Smoke debuted in a staged reading at the Garry Marshall Theatre in 2014. He was an executive producer on the feature films The Binding (2016) and My Name is Myeisha (2019) both feature directed by his son, Gus Krieger. Krieger's first novel That One Cigarette was published by Harvard Square Editions in 2017. We sit down with Jim Byrkit writer and director of Coherence. We talk about his work on Coherence, the franchise Pirates of the Caribbean, and his ability to maintain childhood wonder.
James Ward Byrkit (also known as Jim Byrkit and James Byrkit) is an American film director and writer. He is best known for directing the science fiction thriller Coherence and co-writing the script for Rango. Byrkit also was the conceptual artist on the first three films of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and designed some of the most iconic sequences of the series. Byrkit also directed the short film Tales of the Code: Wedlocked (2011) a prequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003).
Byrkit's debut feature Coherence earned critical and audience praise around the world and maintains a rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Byrkit also garnered significant attention for his unconventional approach in the making of the film, as "proof that inventive filmmakers can do a lot with a little and identifying him as a groundbreaking talent. He is set to direct the film adaptation of the Aaron Loeb play Ideation.

We sit down with Kyu Lee, CEO and music and movie producer. He shares stories about his career in entertainment that started with Sony and continues successfully with his own company Kino33. We talk about the drive and perseverance it takes to sustain a great career.
Kyu is a 10-year studio veteran out of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Lee oversaw titles ranging from Columbia Pictures and Screen Gems that include Spider-man, Casino Royale and The Da Vinci Code. Lee also spearheaded the acquisition of the Korean War blockbuster, Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War in 2004, the first Korean film to be theatrically released in the US.
Lee is an executive producer for the remake of the 1958 classic, The Blob, starring Samuel L. Jackson. On the tube, Lee recently brokered the US hit series Criminal Minds as a remake in Korea.
Other projects Lee produced include the summer blockbuster hit Operation Chromite, a Korean film about the Battle of Incheon set during the Korean War. The film features Liam Neeson, the first Hollywood star to be cast in a Korean film. The film grossed a successful 7 million + admissions locally in Korea and released worldwide.
Lee was also at the forefront in globalizing K-Pop artist PSY's hit song "Gangnam Style." Lee is responsible for introducing PSY to Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun and strategized PSY's activities in the US, resulting in PSY's worldwide success and becoming the #1 most viewed video in YouTube history.
Lee is Founder and CEO of Kino33 Entertainment since 2012, which specializes in Film/TV/Music Management and Production.
Lee is also Senior Vice President of Sonic Tier Audio (STA). Through STA's post-production and sound mixing services, Lee has participated in the production of over 50 films in the US and Asia markets.
STA develops multi-channel audio mixing software (3D audio solutions) and provides for theater, broadcasting and mobile platforms and devices around the globe, being the first Asian and only Korean company that provides 3D sound technology to all media and VR fields.

Music has been the central theme of Roopak’s life and upbringing and he continues a family tradition of musicians and artists that can be traced back to 19th century India. After having studied classical Indian music from a young age, he honed his abilities in Western pop as a teenager and later solidified his vocal training at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
With appearances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and other major world venues, Roopak is a seasoned, consummate performer. His voice and compositions are regularly featured on NBC’s “The Sing-Off”, Fox International, and National Geographic Channels. Most recently, Roopak performed the opening number to ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” alongside country music star Hank Williams Jr. for the 2011-2012 season.

Kyle studied chemical engineering (biomolecular concentration) at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN where he took part in undergraduate research working on novel gene therapy applications at the Biomolecular Medicine Laboratory (BML). He also holds a Master’s in Industrial Engineering from NC State University and will soon graduate Duke University with an MBA.
Outside of work Kyle is very passionate about volunteering with a local non-profit, AdaptoPlay, where he repurposes donated Power Wheels toys into mobility devices for children with disabilities (https://adaptoplay.org/).

experience to the position having previously worked on several political campaigns including for Virginia Senator Mark Warner and former President Barack Obama. In addition to previous trade association experience, having worked as an External Mobilization Campaign Manager for the American Petroleum Institute, Mario’s extensive experience includes working as a Senior Political and Community Organizer for the SEIU. Most recently he served as a Vice President, Grassroots for BCW Global where his work included managing public relations, regulatory, and issue advocacy campaigns for a broad and varied client base that included trade associations, technology companies, and some of the world’s most influential brands.
Mario is responsible for providing public relations direction and public policy support for AOBA’s state and local advocacy efforts and managing the organization’s grassroots initiatives. He joins the Communications team and will work closely with the government affairs staff to enhance AOBA’s ability to communicate internally and externally on issues important to the membership.
Mario received his BS from Cornell University, his ALM from Harvard University and his JD from New York Law School. He is currently pursuing an MBA from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business.

Sgt. James Craig is a police officer on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. A 5th generation native islander, he started working as a summer police officer in 1982 and became a full-time officer in 1987.
Jamie left the police department for several years to serve on active duty as an Officer in the United States Navy, flying helicopters in Desert Storm and in support of NATO operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After returning to the Edgartown Police Department in 1994, Jamie created and commanded the Martha’s Vineyard Tactical Response Team, deploying in 2013 as part of Boston’s efforts to hunt down the Boston Marathon Bombers.
Jamie currently serves as an instructor for the Massachusetts Police Training Council in several disciplines and is also a certified instructor for the National Tactical Officer’s Association and the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and over his career has attended over 60 courses in police operations and leadership.
Off duty, Jamie serves as a Consulting Producer for Hallmark’s Martha’s Vineyard Mystery film series, teaches the aviation curriculum for the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, and is a single father of three amazing children.

DeAnthony Nelson Jr. CEO of DNJ Entertainment aka Music Producer Defnelson, holds degrees in Music Percussion, Business Administration and International Business from Pittsburg State University, He studied percussion with Dr. James Clanton and composition with Dr. John C. Ross. He also studied musical tools and audio effects for the musical software programming environment, Max/MSP and computer music composition with Richard Dudas in South Korea during his exchange at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.
He has been dedicated to music for over 25 years. While living abroad he has developed a great knowledge of a wide range of cultural diversities. Within these areas, communication is a very important aspect. He communicates well verbally and most importantly, communicates to the listeners of any ongoing film/music projects though his creative sound and musical ideas. Music and sound enhance any film tenfold. By applying his knowledge and cultural experiences that he has attained over the years into his work, he is able to not only physical but also subconsciously effect and enhance the experiences for the audience.
