Our weekend experiences are centered around Jesus. Whether you call yourself a Christian or not, we believe that what Jesus taught his followers can help anyone be better at life and make their life better.
Relationships are everything...
so followers of Jesus prioritize unity and humility...
but this is almost impossible.
It can be so hard figuring out how to untangle some of life's biggest questions. The Apostle Paul, one of Jesus's earliest followers, gave amazing insight into how to find perspective... in light of eternity.
In a politically tense season, it can feel like we're divided more than ever. But, for those of us who follow Jesus, there's a clear aim we're given. It has nothing to do with our politicians, but instead... a King.
To wrap up "You Asked For It" we're doing a live text-in Q&A with our Lead Pastor, Greg. So... Ask him ANYTHING!
Faith and science can seem like two opposed things... but Dr. Sam Perli is with us to talk about how they can actually be more aligned with each other than you may have thought before.
There are lots of reasons why people don't take the Bible seriously. We'd love to help you see why and how you could (and should) consider changing your mind.
Throughout this series of messages, we want to address some of the biggest concerns, doubts, and barriers for people in Northwest Indiana regarding Christianity. This week... Can the church see it has hurt people?
The central DNA marker of Suncrest is that we are OUTWARD. We always are looking to help people find and follow Jesus. So, what does that mean as we look to the future... it means now more than ever we are primed to reach lost people.
For 30 years, Suncrest has been a beacon of life change. As we look back at God's faithfulness, we also look ahead to where God is leading. We are used by God to change lives... now more than ever.
What is it like to be on the other side of you? As we wrap up the Fervor series, find out how Romans 12 guides us in practicing hospitality.

We say all the time that "Change Happens Here". But, what does that mean and look like? Well, it starts in you... and then it works through you.
Where are you prone to fit in when really you should be standing out? The Apostle Paul, one of the early followers of Jesus, encouraged Christians in Rome to never lose their passion... their zeal... their fervor.
If you could predict the future for your life what would you change? Jesus told a story to his early followers about a scenario that maybe you can predict for yourself.
Why is good soil important for growth? Jesus gives us a beautiful story of how the soil that we grow in matters.
There once were two brothers... one who did the "wrong things" and one who did the "right things". Both of them still missed the important things.
We know you've probably felt these two truths:
• The world is broken.
• I am broken.
What do we do with these two truths? Jesus told some of his earliest followers a story about how they (and we) could handle this.
Loving your neighbor is a rather general concept. Very easy to agree with, without ever taking action. Jesus knew this. That’s why he told us a parable that makes it so clear and so practical that none of us will ever find a loophole. In this message, we will explore a parable that will leave us all unsettled and inspired to take action.
Have you ever felt like life is not fair? We get it. Some of Jesus's earliest followers felt similarly at times. What do you do when life isn't fair? Jesus had some incredibly significant thoughts for people who follow him... and they can be helpful for you, too.
We all have aspirations for how we want life to go... Bigger. Better. Faster.
Jesus told his earliest followers all about the bigger and better their lives would be in His Kingdom... but faster? Maybe not by your, or my, standards. Why? Because transformation, and life, is like a mustard seed and yeast...
Have you ever wondered how much free will you have? Maybe even compared it to how in control God is? Let's talk about it.
Sometimes wrestling with the biggest questions of life and faith can leave us just simply... wrestling: Not actually trying anything out, but feeling like we're in combat mode. What if we told you that God's invitation isn't one of meeting expectations and battling, but of relationship... acceptance... and love. Skeptical? Let's talk about it.
Check out Episode 4 of "Wrestling" now.
Ever had a bad day... for 365 days? We get it. For people who follow Jesus, we can have hope knowing that what we're suffering through now is NOTHING compared to the goodness and fullness we'll experience one day.
Check out Episode 3 of "Wrestling" now.
You ever feel like you're your own worst enemy? Maybe you can relate to the words of an early follower of Jesus named Paul: "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do…"
In the words of the great theologian, Beyonce Knowles, "Who run the world? Girls."
In the words of Jesus... well just watch this.

Do you ever feel like you have to measure up or earn your way into acceptance? Practicing Spirituality is about experiencing more of God in everyday life. In that, the fundamental question is: Do I want a life in sync with God?
If the answer is yes, then let's start with Practice #1: Pace yourself.
Part 4: We're looking back at the last year, ahead to the next, and seeing if Greg really knows what "slaps".

In part 1 of "What is Christianity?" our Lead Pastor, Greg, takes your questions live as he helps us see where confusion sets in for people who are trying to understand what this religion is all about. Fundamentally, Christianity is about Jesus.
Instant Family is a heartwarming story about fostering and helping kids in need. Lead Pastor Greg Lee interviews his wife and a former DCS worker about their experience with the system and gives us all a chance to step into making a difference.
Sometimes... even Spider-Man simply wants a break. But, what do you do when your desire for a break gets in the way of stepping into being a difference-maker?
What is the thing from your past that is holding you back from making a difference? As we look at the story of Maverick and Rooster, Lead Pastor Greg Lee helps us wrestle with how you and I can step into the mission that God is calling us to.
Episode 1: Meet our friends Laura, Sarah, and Greg as they work through pop culture, spirituality, and more.
We want to be open-minded, but we naturally resist things we can't control or don't understand. So how can we learn to be open to changing our ideals and beliefs, especially if we may be wrong about something? It begins with a simple prayer.
Jesus told his followers to pray to avoid temptation. But before we can pray that with a clear conscience, there are some things we need to ask ourselves first.
Check out episode 3 of "Grown Up Prayers" now.
If God already knows my needs, why pray? Because the purpose of prayer is to surrender your will, not impose it.
At one time or another, we’ve all been told we should pray. But how should we pray? Jesus’s disciples had the exact same question.
In the series finale of "The Red Letters", Lead Pastor Greg Lee is asking the question, "Why are Christians SO judgemental?"

If Jesus was considered the "Good Shepherd"... and none of us are Jesus... then we're looking to be "Reasonably Adequate Shepherds".
Check out episode 4 of "The Red Letters" now.
In episode 3 of "The Red Letters", we're looking at the story of Jesus where he healed one of the least likely people culturally and socially. Who is someone who needs YOUR touch, this week?
Jesus isn't interested in the things you can do... he wants you. In episode 2 of "The Red Letters" we're unpacking the story of a man who was the perfect, model citizen, and how Jesus tries to help him see that "doing the right thing" isn't the goal of following Him.
In the series premiere of "The Red Letters", we're looking at how following Jesus leads us to compassion... and how compassion isn't a passive thing. It's seeing, feeling, AND doing.
The source of words determines the weight of them. Remember who you are and what you represent to the person on the other side of you.
We’ve all heard the adage that actions speak louder than words. But the words we’ve heard have shaped us and the words we speak have the power to shape others. And some words weigh more than others.

Money is central to life, therefore our habits with money will ultimately dictate our relationship with our money. More than any other time of year, people are open to coming to church and exploring their faith journey at Christmas. So, who are you going to invite to join you at church this holiday season?
Where are you? How did you get there? We're asking some honest questions about shame's effect on our lives... and looking at what to do in response.

We interact with people all the time. It's a natural part of going through life. What if those intersections with people aren't just by accident, chance, or random happenstance? What if they were uniquely put into your path? What if YOU were uniquely put into their path? Join us for episode 4 of "One At A Time".
What if leading someone to Jesus is as simple as taking your next right step? In episode 3 of "One At A Time" Guest Speaker Chad Lunsford walks us through the "Proximity Principle" and how this type of thinking can lead to life change... for you and the people around you.
We want God to do great things through us, but He almost always wants to do something in us first. Maybe the best way to be a person of impact is not to say, “God, what do You want to do through me?” but instead, “God, what do You want to do in me?”
Time and again, Jesus went out of His way for one. It might seem impractical or even reckless, but He was willing to go all in for one. Who is the one we need to focus our attention on finding? How impractical and reckless might we become for one?
"This weekend I’m talking about our future – where I sense God leading our church. You might think that is about our organization (and a little bit of it is – with some key updates). But I have a conviction that “the church” is you – so most of it is about the ways I sense God wants to shape us one-by-one and family-by-family. I’m aiming for you to walk away thinking about God’s vision for you and your family as much as our vision as a church." -Lead Pastor Greg Lee
When you read the phrase "Heaven and Hell" what do you think? Is it some ethereal, non-sensical thing? Is it intimidating? Scary? Interesting? In the series finale of "Salty & Lit", Lead Pastor Greg Lee shows how Jesus talks to his early followers about the importance of taking seriously the eternal implications of following, or not following, Him.
Have you ever been hurt? Are you actively hurting? Do you know someone who is hurting? Then this is for you. Guest Speaker, Chad Lunsford is looking at a time when Jesus was so moved by grief and hurt that he wept. Check out episode 6 of "Salty & Lit" now.
This special edition of "Salty & Lit" is much more of a Lab than a Lecture. What do we mean? We're going to help you actually practice what Jesus says when he tells us, "This, then, is how you should pray..." Why? So that you can have an interaction with a God who CARES and a God who CAN.
Many of us can look back at our Middle School experience and remember a time when we felt like we didn't know where (or maybe even how) you were going to fit in... who you were going to sit with at lunch.
In episode 4 of our series "Salty & Lit" Guest Speaker, Charlie Welke, helps us see that God is inviting all of us to the table, no matter who you are.
In episode 3 of "Salty and Lit", Guest Speaker (and former NFL player) Joshua Symonette helps us see how Jesus called his earliest followers to "keep it 💯"... and to mean what they say and to say what they mean.
When we experience someone who has an over-reaction, we think “Wow, they are salty.”... What if the best version of salty is an overly strong under-reaction? In episode 2 of "Salty & Lit" we're looking at how Jesus calls us to way more than satisfying our immediate, reactionary tendencies.
Surrender is something that is culturally negative. It means failure, loss, and retreat. But, when Jesus talks about following Him he asks people to surrender.
What if the type of surrendering Jesus is asking us to do looks less like defeat, and more like victory... hope... and purpose?
What if he's asking us to step into being and doing more than we ever could on our own? Join us as we start a brand new series we're calling, "Salty & Lit".
In the series finale of "The Journey is the Destination" we're talking about a simple fact: When your relationships are good... your life is good. So how do you pursue relationships in a way that leads to living life to its fullest? Let's talk about it.
We all have gaps in our authenticity. It shapes our fears, hopes, and dreams. So, how does our authenticity play a role in our pursuit of life to the full? Check out episode 4 of "The Journey is the Destination" to learn more.
In a day and age where the truth can seem like an idealistic and, maybe even, imaginary thing... what does it actually mean to pursue truth? And how does the pursuit of truth lead to a full and fulfilling life? Let's have a conversation about it in episode 3 of "The Journey is the Destination".
We've got the author of "The Journey is the Destination", Jeremy Brown, with us for a special episode 2 of this series! We're wrestling with what it looks like to have the "good life" and how the things that we often pick may have short-term satisfaction... but ultimately don't fill us up for the long-term. So, what do you pursue instead? Better yet, WHO do you pursue instead?
At Suncrest, we believe that everyone is on a journey... but the important part is not where you end up. In fact, excessive focus on destinations causes us to miss out on life. So, in episode 1 of "The Journey is the Destination", we're wrestling with pursuing our identities.
We all want to feel like we're worth something. It's actually a pretty big driver behind our desires to be good at work, be a good parent, have a nice yard, earn the next promotion... so much so that it becomes a reflection of who we are as a person. But at some point, we all run up against the defeat of never being enough.
What if we told you that there is a way to live in KNOWING who you are instead of having to PROVE it. Check out the series finale of "My Identity: Figuring Out Who I Am".
There are some things we say "yes" to about our identity that may actually be killing us... things like greed, anger, and lying. Instead, the apostle Paul gives us a roadmap to living a new life with a new identity. In episode 3 of our series, "My Identity: Figuring Out Who I Am" we're asking the question: Do you WANT following Jesus to be your primary identity?
We all have levels of people, things, and preferences that make up who we are. Are those ordered the right way? In a way that reflects who you REALLY are? In episode 2 of, "My Identity: Figuring Out Who I Am" we're asking, "What is the most important part of who you are?"
In episode 1 of our new series, "My Identity" we're asking the questions: Who are you? Who do people think you are? Who did God make you to be? Join us as we wrestle with figuring out who we are... together.
Following Jesus’ crucifixion, his followers expected what anyone expects after someone dies: that they would remain that way. But one of Jesus’s followers, John, gave an eyewitness account which summarized the main event surrounding Christianity: Jesus rose from the dead. In this seventh and final sign that John documents, he makes the case that Jesus is exactly who he claimed to be.
At different points in our lives, many of us wonder why a good God would allow bad things to happen. And without a clear response, that dilemma could cause us to question God’s existence altogether. The gospel writer John documented an occasion where Jesus not only brought his friend Lazarus back to life, but demonstrated how God can exist in the midst of a world of evil and suffering.
There are many products we buy, use, and put our confidence in without having all the information or fully understanding how they work. In the Gospel of John, we see a man begin to follow Jesus based on limited information. This man, who was born blind, said he only knew one main thing—and that one thing was enough to make him curious about who Jesus really was.
It’s okay to be wrong. It’s okay not to know. But it’s not okay not to look if there’s something to be seen.
Perhaps one of the most famous signs performed by Jesus is feeding over 5000+ people with five loaves of bread and two fish. Those that followed Jesus thought he was finally getting to the point of what he could do for them. They were more enamored with the signs instead of what the signs were pointing to.
Let’s not be consumers. Let’s be followers. His followers changed the world once. Perhaps we can do that again.
Just outside of Jerusalem, Jesus performed a miracle that changed a man’s life forever. For 38 years, this man was unable to walk. But when Jesus said, “Get up,” the man was healed. However, it’s what Jesus said next that made this miracle a clear sign of who Jesus really was.
When your version of religion gets in the way of love, you have the wrong version. The person beside you must take priority over the potentially flawed religious view you have.
In order to demonstrate who he was, Jesus performed a number of miracles—which the apostle John referred to as “signs.” The first of those signs was at a joyous occasion where Jesus turned water into wine. The second sign was in the midst of a heartbreaking circumstance in which a father desperately asks Jesus to heal his dying son.
Jesus recognized there would be people who would believe in him who were not eyewitnesses to his miracles, and he looked into the future and calls us blessed—in other words, happy, joyful, and peaceful.
Beginning with first-century followers of Jesus, trusting in Jesus has been a response to evidence—not simply in hoping something is true. The gospel writer John referred to the miracles of Jesus as signs that give evidence of who Jesus was. The first sign John documents is when Jesus—with a nudge from his mother—attended a wedding and turned water into wine.

In the series finale of "Let's Talk About...", we want to have an honest conversation about ANGER. We all deal with it in various ways, but how do you deal with it in a healthy way? Let's talk about it.
We all want to feel connection with people. It actually is THE main factor in how we work through our mental health issues. And it's not just about being with people or being alone. Join us as we tackle an honest conversation about ISOLATION and its effects on our lives.
The church should be a safe place for us to talk about the mental and emotional health issues that many of us are facing right now. Research shows that in this season, addiction is on the rise. New addictions are being developed and old ones are resurfacing. But God’s Word is clear – He created us to crave and desire, and He wants us to find our satisfaction in Him alone. When we are at our worst, He offers His best because we are worthy of His love. Join us for episode 3 of "Let's Talk About...", and check out guest speaker Ryan Bramlett!
Just behind the global pandemic happening in our world right now, another pandemic rages – the mental and emotional health pandemic. In episode 2 of our new series "Let's Talk About..." we're having a conversation about ANXIETY, its effects on our lives, and how we might wrestle with it as people who follow Jesus.
Just behind the global pandemic happening in our world right now, another pandemic rages – the mental and emotional health pandemic. In episode 1 of our new series "Let's Talk About..." we're having a conversation about depression, its effects on our lives, and how we might wrestle with it as people who follow Jesus.
To start the new year we're not just making resolutions... we're looking at how we can make this year better. One of the best ways to do that is by developing a plan to hear from God regularly, and in turn, maybe find a more clear picture of the kind of life He has in store for you.
Our mission is to be used by God to change lives. One of the best ways we can do that is by caring about people far from God. Who is "your one" when you think about helping someone connect to God in their own faith journey?
When our relationships are good, life is good. So, in episode 3 of "The Thrill of Peace" we're looking at how God is primarily relational, which means that WE are primarily relational... so, how is your relationship WITH God?
When our relationships are good, life is good. So, in episode 2 of "The Thrill of Peace" we're looking at how God is primarily relational, which means that WE are primarily relational... but what do you do when those relationships are strained?
In the series premiere of "The Thrill of Peace" we're looking at what it takes to be a peacemaker this holiday season... because we could all use a little more peace. Join us as we unpack this together on our way to Christmas Eve!
In the series finale of "People of the Second Chance" we want to boldly state, "this is who we are". We are not just people who receive second chances. We are people who give second chances. Why? Check out the series finale now to find out.
In episode 5 of "People of the Second Chance", we have a special guest speaker Dennis Aggrey from Liberia, Africa. His life story, and the story of God, is full of second chances. He encourages us to see that our true identity is who we are in Christ... not who you were.
In episode 4 of "People of the Second Chance" we want to ask you the question... "Who are you... really?"
One of the ways that many of us could use a second chance is feeling like we don't measure up. Knowing who you are can help adjust the lens you're looking through and maybe open your eyes to see a better, clearer picture.
When someone gets pushed, people respond in various ways. In episode 3 of "People of the Second Chance", we're looking at the life of Joseph (the one with the "technicolor dream coat")... a man who was wronged at every turn of his life. This leads us to the question: How do YOU respond when you are pushed and wronged?
Have you ever felt like you're running on empty? In episode 2 of "People of the Second Chance", we're looking back at some of the writing of Solomon... who said, "everything is meaningless". When we wrestle with the feeling of running on empty we have to look in two directions... under the sun... and above the sun... So, where are you looking to tap into in order to avoid emptiness?
As we kick off our new series, "People of the Second Chance", we're wrestling with the feeling of "I've screwed up". In that feeling, most of us wrestle between two ends of a spectrum... between feeling "holier than thou" and feeling "tangled by guilt". So... where are you on this spectrum?
We all wrestle with our purpose in life. We believe that God could use YOU... so we take encouragement from people God has used in the past. Special guest speaker, Nate Ferguson, helps us look at the life of a man named Joshua, who was told by God to "be strong and courageous".
Good Questions → Better Decisions → Better Life.
Have you ever been the recipient of a love that transforms you? Do the people who are around you receive that kind of love from you?
In the series finale of "How To Decide: 5 Questions for Fewer Regrets" we're asking the question, "What does love require of you?"
Good Questions → Better Decisions → Better Life.
There are decisions that we have to make every day... how often do you feel wise in making them?
In episode 4 of our series, "How To Decide: 5 Questions for Fewer Regrets" we're asking the question, "What is the wise thing for me to do?"
Good Questions → Better Decisions → Better Life.
We know that we all have felt a tension within ourselves over decisions we've made. Maybe that tension is telling us something?
So, in episode 3 of our series, "How To Decide: 5 Questions for Fewer Regrets" we're asking the question, "Is there a tension that deserves your attention?"
Good Questions → Better Decisions → Better Life.
In episode 2 of our series, "How To Decide: 5 Questions for Fewer Regrets" we're looking at a question that we all ask ourselves at some point (whether we want to or not)... "What story do I want to tell?"
Good Questions → Better Decisions → Better Life.
In episode 1 of our new series, "How To Decide: 5 Questions for Fewer Regrets" we're looking at the first question that everyone needs to ask themselves... "Am I being honest with myself... really?"
In the series finale of "Stories Jesus Told" we're looking at the story of a lost son. In this story the son screws up... a lot. But, in the end his father welcomes him back home. This story makes us pause and want to ask YOU a question: Are you ready to come home?
In this week's episode of "Stories Jesus Told" we're looking at the story of a great banquet... one where the first people invited made up excuses why they couldn't attend. This leads us to something to wrestle with: One of the most dangerous things you can ever become is successful.
In this week's episode of "Stories Jesus Told", we're looking at the story of a rich fool. The story leads us to a couple of ideas: 1) Death may come at any time. 2) Surpluses are powerful gauges. 3) Greed is foolish.
Do you feel like you could never hear from God? Have you ever tried? In this week's episode of "Stories Jesus Told", we're looking at the story Jesus told about a Sower & Seeds and how a relationship with God is something attainable... and like those seeds, it just needs some cultivation.
In this week's episode, we look at the story of a Mustard Seed and Yeast. Both things lead to, or create, huge amounts of change... but it leaves us with two questions: 1) Are you in the kingdom? 2) Is the kingdom in you?
Stories shape our lives... in this series, we're looking at some of the most life-changing stories Jesus ever told. To kick everything off, let's take a look at one of the wildest and most surprising stories Jesus told his early followers.
In the series finale of "BitterSweet: the ups and downs of the life of David", We're looking at the end of David's life... which helps us ask the question, "Is your life heading towards having meaning?"
What do you do when you're accused of something? This week, we're looking at David's life when he faced accusations, and how we can learn from his mistakes.
In this PG-13 episode of "BitterSweet", we look at David's kids... specifically the relational health between David and his kids. It leads us to one question: What are you setting up for the long-term relational health of your family?
In this week's PG-13 episode of "BitterSweet" we're looking at a time in David's life where he had to face his mistakes and come clean... because being right with God is the only place you should want to be regardless of the consequences.
In this PG-13 message, we look at a time when David made a lot of really bad decisions... all to cover up for other bad decisions. So, what do you do when temptation is prompting you? Do you exit, or do you proceed?
In episode 4 of "BitterSweet", we're looking at what it looks like to step into situations that might be messy... even though there might be a mess. Abigail was that person for David. What's happening around you that you need to be like Abigail?
What do you do when you don't know what to do? This week, we look at David's interactions with Saul and learn what we can do when faced with situations that seem impossible to navigate.
What do you do when your back is up against the wall? Executive Pastor, Dan Donaldson, helps us ask that question by looking at the story of David and Goliath.
To kick off our new series, "BitterSweet: the ups and downs of the life of David", Lead Pastor Greg Lee asks a question we've all wondered... Who does God use? Could it be YOU?
In the series finale of "We've Got Issues" we're tackling the question: "What is Marriage?" Lead Pastor, Greg Lee, walks through the trip-wires, thought processes, and ways to engage with trying to define marriage.
What issue are we tackling in episode 2 of our series "We've Got Issues"? A really easy list... Abortion, Racism, Healthcare, Immigration, Greed, Human Trafficking, War, and Pornography... or put simply Valuing Humanity.
Last fall, we sent out a survey to ask about the issues that YOU wanted us to talk about... well what we found out is "We've Got Issues..." 😅 and we can't wait to talk about them!
This Mother's Day we're answering the age-old question... "Hoosier Mama?"... Get it... like it's a play on words... who's your.... you get it.
We've got guest speaker, Trisha Davis from Hope City in Indy sharing a special message for moms!
Being "For The Region" means we Serve The Region. This weekend, Lead Pastor Greg Lee talks about how we can be "the ones who have mercy" by noticing the needs around us and then meeting those needs. Join us for a special, online-only episode of "For The Region".
What is the most overlooked, misunderstood & important way to be #ForTheRegion? Leading people far from God back to Him.
In episode 2 of this series, Lead Pastor Greg Lee shows us how Jesus cared deeply about how His followers engaged with the people they were around.
It's easy to be known for what you're against... we want to be known by what we're for. And we are #ForTheRegion. To kick off our series, Lead Pastor Greg Lee explains how being "celebraters" and eliminating our tendency towards being "haters" is the mark of a Christ-follower wherever they live.
Do you feel like you're going through life... but there's no life going through you? This Easter, we're going under... literally. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave is available to all of us, if you're open to it. Join us as we celebrate Easter, and wrap up our message series, "The Cross".
In episode 2 of "The Cross" Lead Pastor Greg Lee shows us the example that Jesus sets for all of us who follow him, and how the cross is the hinge point of everything He taught.
The Cross. It's powerful. It's personal. It's for everyone. In Episode 1, Lead Pastor Greg Lee kicks off our Easter series by walking through the sacrificial love of Jesus, and how that love brings redemption for everyone.
Christianity is the result of an event (the resurrection) that created a movement (the church) that produced sacred and reliable texts that were collected and bound into a book (the Bible). But how do we approach not being at peace with everything we read in the Bible? Join us as 4Cs Pastor Jamie Ward wraps up "The Bible for Grown-Ups".
The Old Testament chronicles God’s redemptive, sequential activity in history. It’s a fabulous, gritty, epic history of the Hebrew people in which, over and over, Israel is reminded that they are a divine means to an end. Join us this week for episode 3 of "The Bible for Grown-Ups"!
This week, Lead Pastor Greg Lee teaches how the origin story of Christianity paints a grand and unique picture of existence for each and every one of us.
As we kick off episode 1 of "The Bible for Grown-Ups", Lead Pastor Greg Lee walks us through the start story of the Bible... because the story of the Bible is almost as important as the stories in it.
With the series finale of "Be Rich" Lead Pastor Greg Lee tackles the practical wisdom from the Scriptures of getting our finances right and truly "being rich".
So you want to be a giver . . . now what? Watch as Lead Pastor Greg Lee explains through scripture what your generosity say about you and your faith.
Money can be tough, and we want to help you get it right. Greg Lee explains what money can provide, what it can't provide, and how to truly be rich.
What will you do in the next five years? More importantly, who will you be? In the final episode of “You in Five Years,” Lead Pastor Greg Lee will guide you to bring clarity and conviction to your vision of the future.
Could something be holding you back from the next five years? Whatever God calls you to, He'll resource you to do it! Here's week 2 of "You in Five Years."
God has a plan in store for our lives... we just have to engage in the journey. If you're going to compare where you're at on your journey, do it with your past and your future.
This year let's start off with a challenge... not just reading through the Bible, but hearing from God every day. This could be the best year of spiritual growth you've ever experienced.
When you see some things it's impossible to unsee them, and this Christmas we want you to lean in and experience the life-changing message of Jesus's coming. Once you see it, it's impossible to unsee it.
Are you feeling like the wait (and weight) of life is taking forever? To start the holiday season, Justin Davis from Hope City Church walks us through the prequel of the Christmas story to show us that God's delay is not a denial.
100,000 EXPRESSIONS OF GRATITUDE. Can you imagine the type of change that can bring to a community? Lead Pastor Greg Lee walks us through how we can be part of a pandemic-like spread of gratitude that could change the trajectory of Northwest Indiana forever.
It's great to express gratitude to others... but does God know that you're grateful? In this special, Thanksgiving edition of On-Demand, Lead Pastor, Greg Lee explains one weird idea that can change the rest of 2020, and potentially years to come.
As we approach the holiday season, it seems like a miss to not talk about gratitude... and we mean actually speak out loud gratitude. Because, unexpressed gratitude communicates ingratitude.
Jesus lets us know what Christians are supposed to be known by... and it's not their political stances. It's their love. Let's have a conversation about the 4 things that make true love uncomfortable (especially during an election season).
Unity is not uniformity. When we talk about the importance of diversity we can see how our togetherness, especially during an election season, is necessary. So, let's talk about the 4 bold steps towards diversity we all can take.
When we look at the 2020 political landscape, we could all benefit from learning the phrases, "Help me understand" and "I could be wrong". Our humility leads to civility, and Christians are encouraged by the early church to model this type of behavior.
What do you get when you mix religion and politics? Politics.
When we really boil down how the church and people who follow Jesus interact with our world there’s a clear separation between the way people identified themselves before and after Jesus.
When it boils down to it, at some point we've all been told "it's time to grow up". What if when we're talking about our faith, that phrase isn't a judgment... but an invitation?
When the early church was faced with horrible circumstances, James (the brother of Jesus) encouraged them with one thought: Just Hold On. The modern church, and Christians, could use the same encouragement.
We're all asking this question in some capacity: What do you do when you don't know what to do? The better question for most of us is: Who are you turning to when you don't know what to do?
It's human nature to avoid things we don't like. Because of that, it's easy to interpret discomfort, obstacles, and difficult things as something to escape from. What if there's a power to staying?
We've all felt the tension of 2020. Some of us have been asking the question: "Are we there yet?" What if instead of struggling to get through it we embrace the tension... because pain without gain would be a shame.
Jesus is mad when we let our indifference get in the way of others following Jesus... specifically when it gets in the way of the next generation.
Jesus is mad when we let hypocrisy get in the way of others following Jesus.
Jesus is mad when we SETTLE for DISTANCE with people unlike us.
Have you ever been made to feel like you couldn't keep up with what rules kept you with the "in crowd"? What makes Jesus mad? When people measure spirituality with rule-keeping.
Have you ever been made to feel like an outsider? What makes Jesus mad? When anyone does or says things that keep outsiders outside.
Jesus paints a pretty descriptive word picture of what being #blessed looks like... and he doesn't mention anything about a fast car or nice house. So, what does being #blessed actually look like? Actually, mean?
So many times we use the phrase "I'll pray about it..." as a means of:
1) Trying to make something more encouraging 2) Moving a moment along without sounding dismissive 3) Seeming spiritual
What if instead of saying "I'm the praying type" we actually were the praying type?
God never says he won't give you more than you can handle... He DOES promise that He won't give you more than HE can handle. In part 2 of "Dumb Stuff Christians Say" Lead Pastor Greg Lee walks us through how the sentiment that God won't give you more than you can handle can actually be a harmful phrase in your vocabulary.
Everything happens for a reason... sometimes that reason is that you're stupid and make bad decisions. As Lead Pastor, Greg Lee, kicks off our series "Dumb Stuff Christians Say", we are challenged to understand life as competing wills... our will and God's will.
When we talk about the end times, there are two ways to go about it: 1) Unhealthy: Wonder when & how 2) Healthy: Wonder what now
Lead Pastor, Greg Lee, walks us through a conversation about the end times, and what that means for you and me right now.
It's not "Christ & Country"... it's "Christ THEN country".
Over the 4th of July weekend, Lead Pastor Greg Lee walks us through a candid conversation about what it means to be a Christ-follower and an American.
We all experience shame... the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love and belonging. Guest Speaker, and Church Planter, Lou Pizzichillo walks us through how shame affects us, and what to do (with God) about it.
As we celebrate dads this Father's Day, Lead Pastor, Greg Lee took some time to interview two dads on the Suncrest Staff. Take a listen to this rich conversation about the wins, adjustments, and legacies of fatherhood.
When you look at what happy couples, and what happy singles, know it's very similar. Lead Pastor, Greg Lee, walks us through how to dismiss the "right person" myth as we aim for happiness.
Our county... state... country... the world is shedding light on racial injustice. What does it look like to actively face it, head-on?
Happy people know that happiness is all about relationships. When your relationships are good, life is good. Lead Pastor, Greg Lee, kicks off this series by talking about how friendships can make all the difference in your happiness.
Mr. Rogers used to ask us, "Won't you be my neighbor?" But what if you and your neighbor don't see eye to eye? Jesus gives His followers a very simple, yet challenging, way to approach how we are to relate to our neighbors.
Come & See || Come & Follow || Come & Die Everyone has a next step in their walk with Jesus. Where are you on your journey with God?
In the final message of Why Worry, Greg introduces us to an Old Testament character who is asked a question that alters his perspective on his worries. This question may be central to overcoming worry in your life today as well. 1 Kings 19:1-19
Worry steals from our relationships and our responsibilities. Jesus encourages us to look to God as a source for where to ground ourselves in moments of doubt. Matthew 6:25-34
Can God be trusted with your finances, your health, and your relationships? If so, then why do you worry? In Part 1 of Why Worry, Greg asks some penetrating questions that reveal why we worry. Matthew 6:25-34
In uncertain times, we can look back to see how God used his people to make a difference. The Resurrection of Jesus changes everything... including how we respond to chaos.
In uncertain times, we can look back to see how God used his people to make a difference. After all that Joshua had seen in his life, he still chose to follow God. And he calls us to the same. "As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
In uncertain times, we can look back to see how God used his people to make a difference. Moses' story points us to I AM... who is not just the creator of the universe, but who wants to know you deeply.
In uncertain times, we can look back to see how God used his people to make a difference. As we look at Esther's story, we ask ourselves the same question she was asked... "And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?"
Getting past your past is never detached from forgiveness. When we choose to forgive it creates a release that is complete, immediate, and unilateral. So, what part of your past are you going to leave in the past?
Getting past your past is never detached from forgiveness. The second step in this process is grieving that a relationship... a situation... life will not be the same as it was before. But, with forgiveness, we can start to move forward.
Getting past your past is never detached from forgiveness. The first step in this process is owning that there might be something from your past that is still shaping you today. So, what part of your past shapes your present?
We all feel the tick...tock...tick...tock of life, but when we get our rhythms of rest in balance the rest of life falls into place. Jesus offers us rest in Him.
In every relationship and situation, there are three parts at play: Your Part, Their Part, and God's Part. Consider this shape when you try to change someone, feel guilty, or omit God.
God offers each of us a chance to take up an identity as His children. When you mess up what's your reaction? "My dad is going to kill me..." or "I need my dad..."
Ever feel like God is distant? Silent? Doesn't care? We believe that a circle and three questions can change everything in your pursuit to understand your faith journey, and what God might be trying to tell you in the midst of it.
If our money could talk what would it tell us? "The most important thing you do with me is pay attention."
If our money could talk what would it tell us? "Do you want more stuff... or do you want more stories?"
Some of us have been given more in life... some have been given less. As we start a new year together what do you think God is saying to you about the things you've been given? What are you going to do about it?
O Night Divine: The coming of Jesus marked the coming of grace into the world. The holiday that you and I experience can be transcendent and meaningful.
God’s grace to us is an invitation to be amazing. It’s our chance to extend to others what God has freely extended to us. But while most of us are full of something . . . it’s usually not grace. So what are you full of? And what would it take for you to give someone what they don’t expect? Or deserve?
The kingdom of God is characterized by unsettling generosity —the kind of generosity that gives the undeserving what they don’t deserve and regardless of how unright we’ve been, makes us right with God. So what do we do when we’re faced with this math that doesn’t add up? And how do we respond to this unfair, unsettling system that Jesus came to invite us into?
There is an unsettling solution for just about everything, and we can sum it up in one word. Grace. It’s the undeserved, unearned, unearnable favor that Jesus came to offer us. So why wouldn’t we want Christianity to be true? And where should you start if it’s a word that was never part of the equation for you?
Pope Francis is known as a reformer, philanthropist, and world-renowned religious leader. What do you think Jesus would say in a conversation with Pope Francis?
Harvey Weinstein is known as a director, media mogul, academy award winner, and sexual abuser. What do you think Jesus would say in a conversation with Harvey Weinstein?
Ellen is known as a talk show host, bipartisan friend, entertainer, gay rights advocate, comedian, Dory, and Emmy-winning producer. What do you think Jesus would say in a conversation with Ellen?
Asking for help is part of God's work in your life. What do you need help with that you're not addressing? Who can you ask that you're not asking?
Do the people you talk with know the work of God in your life/your faith journey? Only you can tell your story: The story of your highs, your lows, and how God has been around for it all. It might feel uncomfortable to be vulnerable with your story, but it could be life-changing for you and all who might hear.
When you pick a fight, you lean into the relationships and things in the world that are less than you wish they are. Vibrant relationships and real life are on the other side of awkward.
Having a "safe life" actually leads to having a small life. When you step back from awkward you are stepping back from the possibility of making a difference by being used by God to change lives. So, is the story of your life settling for things as they are or seizing the opportunity to raise your hand?
Failure is inevitable. Forward is a choice. The stories of King David and King Solomon paint a picture of what this looks like in vivid detail.
Your friendships determine your future. So, who are the people with whom you are connecting in relationships where truth meets life?
A church who is outward, and cares about people far from God, believes: Lost People matter uniquely to God. Their separation from Jesus drives us. We regularly sacrifice for those who are not part of our church. We plant churches.
Jesus invited His first followers to drop everything and follow Him... even before they believed He was God. We can learn to pattern our lives by following the example of Peter in his willingness to serve no matter the cost.
Following Jesus is extraordinarily relational. By taking the time to listen to what God might be trying to say, you can find the gaps between life as you know it and the life that Jesus lived.
What goes around often comes around. The powerless often find themselves in a position of power and the people who hurt us may someday need us. In the moments when we’ve got those people right where we want ‘em, what we say will say as much about us as anything else. If our words are stones, will we choose to throw them, or use them to pave the way forward?
Our big mouths can be destructive, but they also have the power to build others up. What we say can impact the quality, and even the direction, of the lives of the people around us. How can we use this power for good?
Like a small spark that has the potential to scorch an entire green forest, our tongues are untamable, with the power to control our whole bodies. We have a tool that can be used to build up those around us or tear them down in just a few words. What do we do with that kind of power? We can’t lock it away. But we can learn to control it.
We all know what it’s like to be hurt by someone who just couldn’t listen long enough to understand us. Maybe in their attempt to be right, they damaged a relationship that could have been saved with a little patience and curiosity. You’ve probably been on the other side of that coin too. Taking the verbal offense may have won the argument but you lost relationally. What if we didn’t settle for being right, but tried to make things right instead? The longer we listen the more we learn, and the better chance we have of protecting ourselves from our own big mouths.
Good News: You can understand a confusing or surprising passage of Scripture. Good News: Don't draw lines on gender, but do on behavior. Good News: You are part of something bigger than you.
The Good News for Bad Christians... Followers of Jesus have a clear posture: Rarely a victim. Always an advocate.
The two questions Paul encourages us to ask: Who is in front of me? What does love require of me?
If the church is a family, then leaders within the church are "parents". Healthy churches have healthy parents who are helping their kids grow. So, who are you following?
The Spirit of God is something that is better experienced than explained. When was the last time, if ever, you said, "Holy Spirit, you are welcome here"?
When I'm tempted to pass judgment on you, I should stop and check for traces of judgment in me.
Worry is putting your trust in the wrong thing. When Jesus tells his followers "Do not worry," He is inviting them to put their trust in Him.
The resurrection of Jesus invites us to new life. Resurrection cannot happen without experiencing death.
The story of Easter, and following Jesus, is about Death, Burial, and Resurrection. Most people can understand the significance of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus. But, what does the Burial mean for us?
We all have two big questions when facing grief: Why didn't God intervene? How do I make sense of a loving God in the midst of my horrible circumstances?
When you plot a direction in life, it is easy to get thrown off course. How do you stay on track? By having someone in your life that can help you identify the appealing things that divert you.
Our direction, not our intentions, determine our destination. Our direction is a product of who we follow. So, who are you following?
Jesus encourages his followers with this thought: "Whatever you've done for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Why do we start new churches? So life-change can happen around the world.
When we ask the question, "Can I know God personally?", we need to first take a step back and ask ourselves, "Do I want to believe in Him?".
When we talk about the Bible's reliability, we have to look at the idea that Christianity isn't based on a book but is based on one, big event. The book that we read (the Bible) is a collection of writings from real people who really experienced something worth writing about.
If Jesus is really God... that's awesome. If Jesus is really God... that's challenging.
Many religions share common teachings with Christianity, but the foundations they are built on are drastically different. Christianity's uniqueness comes from who Jesus is.
There are two questions to ask when we wonder about why God allows pain and suffering; "What is going on in brokenness?" and "How can Christianity help me process brokenness?"
Many of us wrestle with the question, "Is there a God?" Many of us also simply stop wrestling once the question has been asked and don't dive into the sources of our beliefs and thoughts. How have you wrestled with this question?
"The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why." -Mark Twain
Weekly worship as a habit within your life can lead to exponentially significant change.
At some point in your faith journey, you received an invitation. God calls each of us to extend an invitation.
God has a history of calling His people to "be strong and courageous" as they look towards the future.
As we start NEXTlevel we ask the question... "Are we in sync with God's redemptive plan?"
"And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on His name." -Acts 22:16
Together is better than alone. Connecting in relationships where truth meets life, specifically in Groups, is how we move our church (and faith) experience from rows to circles.
Each generation either drifts from or drives towards The Original. How can you pattern your life after the rhythm, resolve, and responsibility modeled in the original church?
Paul gives us a great example in honoring those who have shaped our lives. Who are the people that you can give meaningful honor (1-5 minutes) to each day this week? Who can you give memorable honor (1-5 hours) to this month?
Christianity more than holds its own in intellectual circles. The content and approach Paul takes in Athens are a model for us in sharing our faith in many settings.
Jesus + anything = nothing Jesus + nothing = everything Are you adding anything to Jesus?
All kinds of people react to Jesus in all kinds of ways. I am not responsible for reactions, just introductions.
There's always a BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER in transformation. Where are you at in your faith journey?
When we do life in the Spirit, God uses even our worst losses to tell His beautiful story.
God's power unlocks new experiences, perspectives, and results. It all hinges on our dependence on Him.
Our devotions determine whether you are internally satisfied with your life, and the level of our impact on others. What are you devoted to?
The Holy Spirit leads people to the path of conviction, and when Christ followers experience that conviction there is always a call to respond.
The mission that Jesus gave to the original church gives us a vision to change the world, an identity of relationship and responsibility, and a power that is beyond us.
When we study the early followers of Jesus we look to explore, embed, and embrace the original experiences of the original church.
Peace with God...paves the way for peace with self...which equips us for peace with others.
The same power that brought Jesus back from the dead is alive in you and me. How can you see resurrection power in your own life today?
The Easter story starts with sacrifice. What does the complete forgiveness we receive through Jesus's death on the cross mean to you?
The moment after you die starts a series of events. There is plenty of mystery surrounding exactly how some things will happen, but that doesn't mean we can't know anything definitively.
Hell is the ugliest of realities. While humans are prone to avoiding tough conversations... avoiding this one has catastrophic consequences.
We all have an idea of what Heaven might be like. What if it's even better, and different, than we could ever imagine?
The reality of eternity is something that is impossible to capture... instead, we should captured by it.
When we give we have the chance to honor God. What is your next step in trusting and honoring God with your finances?
Most of us try to use money as a means to happiness, but all we end up doing is spending. What if the highest happiness is giving?
God places a high priority on two facets of relationships: singleness, and the sexual relationship within a marriage.
Sometimes people go outside of God's intended purpose for sex. Is your sex life healthy?
Cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus is one of the ways we grow. Worship plays a crucial part in our growth.
