We flew up from Cape Town to Johannesburg for the day on the 28th April 2018 for the Saturday of HuntEx! HuntEx is an annual event that has to do with hunting, the outdoors and everything in between. This year's theme was "Sustainable hunting, nature conservation and the youth!" We were privileged to have our flights sponsored by the HuntEx CEO, Adriaan Woudstra. We interviewed Adriaan and will be featuring him in a future video and possibly a podcast.

The experience was absolutely unbelievable and we were able to check out and try some amazing things! From quad bikes to homes on wheels, HuntEx was Nature Hacker heaven!

We haven't posted for a while and are really excited to be posting. The video is full of epic gear, including quite a few cars and quad bikes, as well as knives. Joel cracks some bad jokes here and there and it is an all-round blast.

At Least 133 People Have Now Been Rescued From Peril By Drones
https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.wellness.com/Blog.efc2cd12-bd62-408d-a911-0129f0e20693.149277dcb8b3ec69076fcab84b51d237.original.jpgJune 6, 2018– We love hearing stories like this at Nature Hackers; putting some of our favourite outdoor gear to good use! DJI, the world’s leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging technology, marked a new milestone in public safety drone use last week, as four people were rescued by drones in three separate incidents on two continents on a single day. This brings the total number of people rescued from peril by drones around the world to at least 133.On Thursday, May 31, police and fire departments recorded these three rescues:* Police in the UK used a drone with a thermal imaging camera to find a missing semiconscious man at the edge of a steep Exmouth cliff face. Devon & Cornwall Police and Dorset Police posted video of the rescue here: https://twitter.com/PoliceDrones/status/1004368785346912256 * An Indiana fire department dropped a life vest to a criminal suspect who had fled into a pond and was struggling to stay afloat. The Wayne Township Fire Department posted video of the rescue here: https://twitter.com/Waynetwpfire/status/1002195763005452290 * Public safety agencies in Hill County, Texas, dropped a life vest to a mother and her 15-year-old daughter who were stranded in a rising river and didn’t know how to swim. News coverage of the rescue is available here: http://www.kwtx.com/content/news/Area-dam-shut-down-to-rescue-four-stranded-in-river-484245321.html

This marks the first time three drone rescues occurred in a single day. The previous record was two rescues on February 25, 2018, when the police department in Lincolnshire, UK, used a drone to save the lifeof an unconscious man in a ditch, while rescuers in SãoPaulo, Brazil, used a drone to drop a buoy to a kitesurfer who had lost his board and was struggling in the water.Police, fire and rescue services, as well as bystanders in the right place at the right time, have used drones to find missing people and deliver supplies to people stranded in water, forests, ditches, mountains and fields. Drones can cover far more area than searchers on land or water, and can use thermal imaging cameras to peer through smoke, fog, darkness or vegetation to find unconscious people. Drones also allow public safety agencies to reduce the risk of injury to rescuers, who might otherwise place themselves in peril on search and rescue missions.DJI tracks drone rescues reported on traditional and social media to illustrate the lifesaving value of drone technology and demonstrate how wider access to drones has helped improve public safety. DJI has compiled dozens of prior drone rescues, including links to news coverage and videos when available, in two reports available here and here. Public safety agencies which have saved lives with drones in cases that have not been previously reported should contact DJI to include them in this growing tally. For more information, visit DJI on:Website: www.dji.com Online Store: store.dji.com/Facebook: www.facebook.com/DJIInstagram: www.instagram.com/DJIGlobalTwitter: www.twitter.com/DJIGlobal

At the end of April an event is taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa called HuntEx. It is an expo to do with hunting and nature. This year's theme is around the youth, sustainable hunting and the conservation of nature! We think it is going to be really awesome and there will be things like camping trailers and other equipment for us to film, review and podcast on.

In the past there has been a HuntEx in Cape Town (where we are based), but due to the current political climate, there will not be one here this year.

Since we are teens that are passionate about nature and the outdoors we needed to find funding for our plane tickets! HuntEx Organiser, Adriaan Woudstra, came to the rescue and has sponsored us to go to HuntEx! We will be flying up for the day on the 28th April 2018! Are you going to be there? Let us know in the comments down below. We are really excited!

Recently I realised that I needed a larger flash drive to help backup all the footage I was recording for YouTube with Joel. I needed a storage solution of at least 64GB and wanted something that was durable, yet stylish at the same time. That's when I decided to pick up a Samsung USB 3.0 64GB Flashdrive.
The drive is definitely small, about the size of my pinkie finger and has a beautiful uni-body metal construction which would wow any user.
So where does the Nature Hackers part come into this? Well since I am editing video for Nature Hackers it means that I am generally on the go and in conditions which would demand a more resistant USB drive.
This little guy fits the bill perfectly. It HAS some serious specs:
-Waterproof
-Shockproof
-Magnet-proof
-USB 3.0 (look for the little blue line on the PC/MAC to see if you benefit with faster transfer speeds, if not you can still use this little guy.)
Let that soak in... This is the best storage device for the outdoors!
It is well protected, has fast transfer speeds and it looks brilliant.
