Yoni steaming is an ancient and traditional self-care practice used to help promote women's reproductive health. My next guest is here to explain what it is and some of its benefits.

After taking a career pause as a Physician Assistant, Dominique and her sister founded the holistic wellness company, Teas and Steams. She was looking to find natural methods to incorporate into her self-care routine to promote healing and self-love. Rediscovering her cultural roots, she was introduced to Yoni Steaming in 2019 and began to trace the practice back to her Haitian roots and herbalism through her Native American roots of the Saponi tribe. Having an educational background in medicine and ancestral wisdom of Yoni Steaming, Dominique aims to bridge the gap through education and empowerment of women and the Divine essence of their wombs.

Did you know the typical nine-to-five workday is based on a man’s circadian rhythm? As women, our bodies follow the infradian rhythm, which is any bodily cycle that exceeds 24 hours. During the different parts of our cycle, certain things are going to be easier for us, and we should structure our business around it. My next guest goes into more detail about this.

Amber White is a business mentor and coach focusing on whole-body health, female entrepreneurship, and work-life balance. With her background as a biological dental hygienist, holistic health practitioner, and hormone expert, she dives deeper and sees each client for their unique gifts. Amber’s approach is unique and approaches each business from the perspective of health and harmonious hormones first and business second.

In working with each client, Amber’s focus is not only on creating a solid foundation, balanced systems, and structure but also supporting a joyful life and optimized health. Be sure to follow Amber on Instagram @itsamberwhite.

In this episode, Tim Sandars and I talk about the harmful exposure to electromagnetic field radiation from electronic devices, especially with the ever-growing 5G towers all around us. After experiencing stress in his own body, he created a product to help block some of the exposure and explains how it works.

Tim Sandars is a British entrepreneur who set up the Omnia Radiation Balancer brand after meeting a scientist who claimed to be able to solve all the radiation problems in the world. This took him on a journey to understand the atom and radiation in a new way, opening up new knowledge that explains the reaction in the body to EMF from the perspective of ‘energy, frequency, and vibration’. Specifically, what is it about the vibration of an EMF field that affects the vibration of the body? Omnia products are tested on the heart, blood, muscle strength, and water structure to show great performance improvements.

Holistic Health Coach and Author Donna Sonkin Shaw wants to empower women over 40 (or at any age) with advice on how they can control their fertility journey as she did. After going through her own fertility challenges, she discovered that it's NOT as hopeless as many women over 40 are being told it is to have a baby naturally. At 43, she succeeded in having a healthy baby girl at 43 - with no drugs, no IVF, and with her own egg!

In her new book, Poppin' Past Forty, she uncovers the scientific practices that fertility doctors ignore or overlook that would substantially increase a woman's chances of conceiving naturally, even over 40! It’s not just about having a baby but also about women taking back their power over their own bodies – not feeling pressured to get married young in order to have a baby before 30 or feeling powerless when hearing statistics.

To get her book and to keep up with all that she's doing, follow her on IG at @donnasonkinshaw on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt5W4cFkLic and visit her website https://poppinpastforty.com/

The holistic space seems to be a bit female-dominated, so today I am excited to speak with Josh Whalen and hear about things from the male perspective. He is the Founder of Blokes.co, a virtual platform that provides game-changing hormonal treatments for guys. They are dedicated to making men’s healthcare more simple and straightforward and helping men become a better version of themselves.

Josh’s journey to creating Blokes started years ago when he experienced low energy, lack of focus, a dwindling drive, and yes, some failure to launch. With so much going on in the world lately, many people are feeling some big emotions and may not be sure how to deal with them. Jackie Kono is a holistic psychotherapy practitioner who combines traditional psychotherapy methods with attachment-focused EMDR and energy medicine (Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Reiki, yoga & mindfulness). She helps people process their emotions, connect with the root of why these emotions and triggers are surfacing, and work through them.

As a holistic therapist and through an intuitive and integrative approach, Jackie helps you tap into the wisdom of your own body's communication system while creating a sacred space for understanding why these symptoms might appear. Emotions are a messenger and once we learn to listen to what they are telling us, a channel opens up and we are able to heal.

In this episode, I’m speaking with Acupuncturist, Margo Voskanian. Margo graduated college with a bachelor’s degree in biology and worked in the pharmaceutical industry before pursuing her career as an acupuncturist. She completed a rigorous graduate program in Chinese Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine and earned a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) degree from the New England School of Acupuncture.

After struggling with gynecological and digestive issues and experiencing back pain, she decided to give acupuncture a try despite her fear of needles. She was so impressed by how the acupuncturist analyzed her past to figure out the root cause of her pain. After that, she was hooked and knew she wanted to pursue this field as a career.

Margo has found great resources to rebalance and resync her own health through Chinese Herbal Medicine, cupping therapy, and dietary adjustments. Both as an undergraduate and graduate student, she took courses on nutrition which helped her to develop a strong understanding of how food impacts our bodies. Her specialties as a practitioner include pain management, women’s health, and digestive health.

This week we have another returning guest, here to speak about our body clocks and how different seasons, parts of the year, and even times of the day the Doshas are more dominant. If you missed my previous conversation with Micayla I suggest listening to episode 13 where we discussed Ayurveda, the three Doshas, and how to restore balance to your body.

Micayla Kuehn is a Bay Area, California born & raised, Taurus sun//Taurus ascendant (hella earthy!), Certified Yoga Teacher & Ayurvedic Health Counselor (aka your holistic health hype woman), and a passionate lover of planet Earth, astrology, avocados, good puns, matcha, the Tropics, delicious & nutritious plant-based food & bevs, dreams, travel, social/emotional learning, personal development, and all things health & wellness.

Her healing journey began while living on the island of Kauai, in 2012. It was there, removed from the daily distractions of the usual hustle & grind, that she began to really connect with the environment & herself. She began doing yoga & meditation, studying nutrition and changing her diet, and started looking at her unhealthy habits and limiting beliefs about herself. For the first time in her life, she recognized how much she had been normalizing symptoms of poor digestion & stress, and had her “AH HAH'' moment when she began to return to balance in her mind & body and realized how good it feels to FEEL GOOOOOD. Micayla found that simply synching up with the natural rhythms of the day, getting solid sleep, eating real food, moving her body regularly, and being in nature daily, contributed to a newfound sense of balance, health, and overall well being.

The intention to unlearn her negative thought patterns & stories, to change her diet and lifestyle, and to begin loving & healing herself brought Micayla to Ayurveda, an ancient healing system that focuses on self-responsibility and self-care as a means to bring balance & health to the mind & body and to cultivate more self-love. She then studied at the California College of Ayurveda in 2015, where she also completed an Herbal Apprenticeship program & became a certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor & herb nerd. She went on to do a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, an Ayurvedic Massage & Body Therapy training, and a Vedic Immersion experience at Hale Pule (an Ayurveda & Yoga training center) on Kauai in 2017. In 2018, Micayla and her soul sister, Yvette co-created a business, Ancient Herban, where they create Ayurvedic herbal products and tools for self-care.

Micayla’s loving intention is to bridge the gap between ancient Ayurvedic wisdom and the modern-day hustler by making the information accessible, digestible (pun intended), and relatable so that her clients can actually implement and benefit from healthier diet & lifestyle habits.

Micayla’s Social media handles are @micayla_ayurveda and @ancientherban and her websites are www.micaylaayurveda.com and www.ancientherban.com

This week I am bringing back a previous guest, Peyton Berg. Being a mom is exhausting, but being so exhausted you are just watching your kids from the couch shouldn’t be the norm. It is important to get to the root cause of your symptoms then implement a few practical steps to get you back on track. Peyton’s focus is to help moms finally get healthy so they can have the vibrant energy they need to keep up with their kids.

Peyton is a mother of 3, a wife, and a Health Coach RN. Her background is in Pediatric Nursing, and she is certified in Functional Medicine. Her goal is to help mothers on a budget finally get healthy, so they can be healthy women raising healthy families. Whether your goal is to lose weight, regulate menstrual cycles, get pregnant then have a healthy pregnancy, or ensure your kids are healthy, there is a root cause for everything. In this episode, my guest and I are discussing how she can help. Peyton doesn't believe in the "pill for an ill" mentality that has overrun conventional medicine and is even starting to creep into Functional Medicine with all the supplements people are relying on. She works to get to the root cause of your symptoms, BELIEVE you when you say something is off, even when doctors have told you that your labs look fine, and give you root solutions. Building a life full of vibrant health and energy takes time, patience, and dedication to make it sustainable, but she’s in if you are!

Dr. Eva Yacobi is a natural medicine doctor intrigued by both the physiology AND the soul of human beings. She found her way to natural medicine and becoming a naturopathic doctor due to her own winding journey through health challenges.

As a youth gymnast, Eva found solace and grounding with her teammates and in the gym. Once that period of her life ended, she began to struggle with finding her place and purpose in the world. The one downside that came with gymnastics was the exposure to the high value put on being petite and thin. Coupled with a social environment focused on outer appearance, Eva struggled with anorexia nervosa by the time she was 17 years old.

Eva graduated college with a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology, pre-med, and after years of working in the corporate arena, she changed paths and is now proud to call herself a Naturopathic Doctor. Combining her training in natural medicine with 20+ years of self-development and mindset work, Eva primarily works with people in personalized wellness programs to dive deep, get to the root cause and bring about real transformation in one's health.

Dr. Renee Wellenstein is a double-board certified doctor who has been working with women for over 20 years. Due to her own personal health challenges, she stepped outside the box of conventional medicine to take a radically different approach to heal herself from the deep depths of burnout. About a decade ago, Dr. Renee was living what she thought was her dream life; she was an extremely busy Ob/Gyn, married to a doctor with toddler twins, and had moved to a quaint, quiet town in the country. One day in May 2012, Dr. Renee fell off of her horse during a riding lesson and broke her back. She not only struggled with severe back pain, but with fatigue and the inability to focus. Her doctor diagnosed her with depression, but her symptoms did not improve after trying two different antidepressants. Two years after her injury, Dr. Renee was still struggling with unexplained symptoms. After exhausting all of her options in the conventional healthcare system, she was put in contact with a doctor who was an “anti-aging” practitioner. She finally received the appropriate diagnosis, her symptoms resolved and she got back on her feet and joined the world of functional medicine.

In August 2019, Dr. Renee started Kaspira Elite Health Consulting, LLC. Throughout her journey, she has certainly faced her fair share of obstacles and has mastered the art of leaping into transitions with each pivot. Now Dr. Renee empowers women to take control of their health, jumpstart their energy, improve their confidence, and reignite their libido!

We are all placed on this earth plane for a specific reason, and Tami Cook feels her mission is to help people reconnect back to their original self through a holistic approach of touch therapy. Tami has been practicing the art of bodymind balance for over 12 years. Her journey began at the AVEDA Institute in Washington DC where she studied a holistic approach to Esthiology, learning how the merging of ancient eastern wisdom paired with western technology could bring forth transformational results within the integumentary system.

Desiring to dive deeper into the knowledge of the bodymind connection, Tami furthered her Education at the Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing where she developed her skills as a Bodyworker. Some of the modalities she’s studied were deep tissue massage, circulatory massage, spinal balancing, cranial sacral therapy, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, reflexology of feet, hands, and ears, structural visceral integration, rock taping, rock blading, polarity, Lomi Lomi, Reiki, and cupping therapy just to name a few.

Her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology paired with four years of experience as an educator in the Baltimore City Public high school system along with nine years of experience as an educator in the esthetic/massage industry gives Tami Cook a well-rounded approach to working with all people regardless of age, gender, culture or socioeconomic status. Acknowledging people as whole; their body, mind, and spirit is what brings life to the psychosomatic approach Tami takes in and out of her treatment room.

Tami Cook’s eclectic background has attracted people from all over the world who seek to know the ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind her ability to seamlessly integrate several modalities into one to create bodymind balance. When Tami Cook is not in the treatment room working one on one with her clients, she is traveling the world teaching her unique style of bodywork to fellow professionals seeking to deepen their awareness of the whole aspect of who we truly are.

Christine Forsythe is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a mission to address the root causes of her client’s symptoms through diet and lifestyle changes. Christine’s journey to becoming a dietitian started at a young age. Her whole family is in the medical field, so health and wellness are in her DNA. It wasn’t until after her first year in college at Oklahoma State that the power of food took hold in a personal way. Several years later, after suffering from weight gain, cystic acne, hair loss, and mild depression, Christine was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal condition that causes insulin resistance accompanied by inflammation. After receiving this diagnosis, Christine dug even more into her diet and found that there is a way to battle and alleviate her symptoms naturally and without medication.

Christine understands that food is a powerful tool. She has experience in the medical environment, helping patients maximize the healing process, and has also worked extensively with collegiate athletes optimizing performance with diet. From meal planning to tailoring recipes to suit an allergy to coming up with healthy snacks that fit your lifestyle, Christine can make it happen. My next guest is Jasmine Sidhu, a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner. She studied the Indian science of her ancestors, Ayurveda, which dates back to 5000 years ago. It is the sister science to Yoga that contains full branches of medicine in India such as Internal Medicine, Psychology, Pediatrics, Toxicology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Rejuvenation, and Aphrodisiacs. In the West, she practices the preventative and rejuvenate section of Ayurveda which focuses on nutrition, diet, and lifestyle that affect our emotional, physical, and spiritual bodies. The wisdom of Ayurveda is very logical, using mind-body types characterized as Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, to analyze one's natural physio/psychological constitution, and to identify the root causes which may be causing random symptoms.

Jasmine has experienced severe and crippling chest pains, hormonal imbalances, adult-acne, menstrual issues, fatigue, anxiety/depression, low libido, etc. by the age of 25. However, at the same time she was working out every day, intermittent fasting, and in the best 'physical shape' of her life. So where were all these symptoms coming from? When her doctors couldn't provide answers, she stumbled upon Ayurveda through her grandparents who sought Ayurvedic treatment where she received more answers through Ayurveda than any of her doctors combined. Ayurveda helped her understand why and how her body works/reacts the way it does and how to truly feel and look better. Jasmine’s hope as an Ayurvedic Practitioner is to bring you the answers and guidance you need to restore your body back to its best self, internally and externally. Ayurveda can help with all kinds of ailments such as IBS, Menstruation Imbalances, Menopause, Gut Health, Constipation, Gas, Bloating, Mal-Absorption, Weight Gain, Skin Issues as well as help minimize and maintain symptoms of severe diseases. Her ultimate goal is to build a curated health plan for you that works to keep you in balance and symptom-free, build your immunity, and prevents you from developing serious diseases later in life.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Emily Griffin, Ayurvedic Practitioner, and Yoga instructor. Emily works 1x1 with clients to remedy common imbalances (like GI & skin issues, hormonal imbalances, feeling crummy) by using diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies. Ayurveda is an individualized, ancient approach to health and wellness - it's not a diet or exercise plan - it's a way of life specifically designed for your symptoms, your goals, and your busy life.

Emily was young when a major digestive disorder disrupted her busy life. She had the good fortune of being single and childless when she suffered her bouts of exhaustion. She was in college, not in the middle of a high-powered career when her skin started breaking out. No one was depending on her to take care of them, so she got to take care of herself, and it changed her life. Now she helps other people, especially women, get back to feeling like themselves again.

Listen in to this episode to hear more about your Dosha (what body type you are), tips to reduce inflammation, and Ayurveda.

In today's episode, I interview the amazing Lauren Baca. Lauren is my herbalist and I've seen more progress working with her in the past 7 months than I have in years. Lauren's passion for root-cause wellness stemmed from growing up in a family riddled with degenerative diseases. Although she saw the benefits western medicine could offer by keeping her family alive, she noticed that their quality of life was greatly diminished. She made the connection that what we eat is intimately connected to our sense of vitality. Diseases that are labeled as "genetic" in allopathic medicine have the power to be either perpetuated or hindered by our lifestyle choices. This idea that our lifestyle could rewire our "pre-dispositions" is what pushed Lauren beyond the scope of nutritional biology and into the realm of holistic mind-body health.

Fast forward and Lauren's never-ceasing love for education has lent her to gain experience in a number of different areas including but not limited to nutrition, biochemistry, epidemiology, and west-to-east herbalism. Currently, she works with a wide range of clients helping them find their way back to wellness through the modalities offered at Root Cause Clinic, LLC.

After becoming diagnosed with Lyme Disease herself, she found a passion for helping those suffering from complex stealth infections including mold illness, Lyme, and co-infections. Although she holds space for these clients, her undying love for teaching others how to care for themselves is inclusive to all.
Lauren employs a trifecta of tools to guide her clients through bio-individual protocols that remind the body how to heal and restore innate body wisdom.

Listen to this episode to hear about the Root Cause Clinic, how Lauren works with her clients to get to the root cause and Lyme disease.
