LeeAnne Hayden is a cancer survivor, podcast host, actor, and model that lives with a permanent colostomy. At the age of 45, I survived a very rare form of cancer which left me in a colostomy for life. “It is the challenges that you face every day that makes you stronger”, is my motto. I will show you how to make fear your ally, not your enemy.
Little did I know that these challenges I had faced would launch my life into another direction that I am forever grateful for. During this time, I had felt called to speak more about my Ostomy. To bring awareness to this medical device that GAVE ME a second chance at life.

Linda Mitchell is a fitness professional, graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, award-winning fitness competitor, author, and motivator with a passion for helping women discover the power of the Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T. (Strong Women Empowering Achieving Together). She holds over a dozen fitness- and nutrition-related certifications and has many decades of experience working in the fitness industry. In total, Linda has helped her clients lose thousands of pounds of unwanted weight, but more importantly, she has also helped those clients feel more confident in their own skin and feel happier with who they are.
Linda is passionate about helping her clients be their best selves, both on the inside and the outside. She experienced the amazing transformation that a fit lifestyle can bring firsthand, which is why she goes above and beyond to help her clients find their own transformations. Linda helps her clients achieve their goals through workouts, nutrition, and mindset work to tackle what’s been holding them back from losing weight, getting stronger, and living a healthier and happier lifestyle. Through individual and group work, her clients get the support they need to find new confidence in themselves as they improve their mindsets and shed inches off their bodies.
Linda’s love of fitness goes back to her childhood. Her mother suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts, which greatly affected Linda and motivated her to find a way to keep herself happy. As a teenager, she discovered that working out gave her an amazing endorphin rush and really helped improve her mood if she was feeling down. Soon, she was helping her friends get active to help them manage the ups and downs of high school in a healthy way, which eventually led to her career in health and fitness.
Her love of fitness has helped Linda get through other difficult times in her life. She experienced a lot of abuse in her first marriage, and in many ways, fitness saved her life. It gave her the confidence she needed to save herself and her children from the physical and emotional abuse of her ex-husband. And, staying active helped her work through the crippling emotional aftermath of that relationship. Fitness gave her the strength she needed to dig out of the dark hole she was in so she could become a more complete version of herself. It opened a doorway so Linda could do a lot of internal self-improvement, and she now teaches those same lessons to her clients.
Linda has been an avid fitness and bikini competitor for years. She has placed Top 5 at Fitness America/Fitness Universe seven times in Fitness, Bikini, and Figure. And, she has won seven Ms. Fitness titles. Most recently, Linda received her first invitation to WBFF Worlds and competed at the 2018 Worlds in Las Vegas, NV. Preparing for these competitions has taught Linda a lot about mental strength and willpower, and she uses these lessons to teach her clients how to push through plateaus and meet their goals. And, she hopes that her amazing success as a fitness and bikini competitor in her 50s helps convince other women that age is only a number.
You can find Linda on Instagram, Facebook, and hosting the Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T. podcast. She has also been featured on Fox, ABC, CBS, ESPN, Fox Sports, The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, several weight loss commercials, and hundreds of podcasts. And, Linda is the author of The Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T. and the S.W.E.A.T. Project journal, as well as a contributor to Ann Louise Gittleman’s Fat Flush for Life. She’s well-known as an expert in fitness and overcoming obstacles to meet your wellness and weight loss goals.

Born in the Midwest, Eddie Heintz fell in love with the great outdoors and bartending in equal measure. Moving to San Francisco in 1985, he established himself in “The City’s restaurants as a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants manager. After more than a decade managing some of San Francisco’s top restaurants, he began to grow restless. An opportunity on the Big Island of Hawaii enabled him to practice and fine-tune his passion; embracing great hospitality as a lifestyle. Four years later and armed with the spirit of Aloha, he returned to the mainland, where he engaged with staff and guests in restaurants, resorts, wineries and as an instructor at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone. He is currently practicing his style of hospitality in Napa, California.
Making Welcome: Enriching Life and Business with Hospitality
Book quote:
“We each get more out of hospitality than we put into it. It does not deplete; it recharges. You are not giving yourself as a martyr, you are recharging yourself because you know who you truly are. It comes from a place of strength. And with this strength, you are growing every day, nurturing yourself and allowing yourself to grow in your own way, an individual with a purposeful and joyous life…It’s a life based on trust…Trusting yourself is most important.”

In 2011, Ryan had a mountain bike accident in Girona, Spain while working with Trek Tavel. He injured his spine at the C4 vertebrae. When he returned to the United States after doing his acute rehab in Barcelona, Spain, he was med-flighted back to the USA where he spent invaluable time in the Inpatient Rehab at Spaulding in Boston.
He attended Empower Spinal Cord Injury (Empower SCI) in 2012 and 2013 where he learned how to be more independent and to get out of his comfort zone. In 2015 he co-founded an annual fundraiser called Knobby Tire Ride and Roll to benefit Empower SCI which brings his love of mountain biking back to the disabled community while raising nearly 40,000USD to date for the organization.
Because of Ryan's exposure to the amazing peer mentors while at Spaulding and Empower SCI, he became a mentor with the Great Boston Chapter of the United Spinal Association (GBC) in 2014. Three years later he became a board member and has put his experience in logistics, event planning, and management to good use in various chapter committees. He also took on the role of Digital Media Coordinator in 2018.

Jeff is an international speaker who has presented at conferences such as INBOUND, SXSW, and Australia’s Pausefest, showing audiences how major issues in the workplace can be solved using play. While we spend most of our time pretending to be important, serious grownups, it's when we let go of that facade and just play, that the real magic happens. Fully embracing your own nerdy genius -whatever that is- gives you the power to make a difference and change lives. Jeff believes that we already have many of the answers we seek, and by simply unleashing our inner child, we can find our purpose and, in turn, help to create a better world.

Tom has been involved in the Movember Foundation since 2010 and hasn't looked back. The thing that he likes so much about the Movember Foundation is that they're solely focused on men's health. The work with his team that they've created has been grassroots. They've been hosting events and simply having powerful conversations with other men in their lives focusing on their overall health and wellness. Claude McKnight was born into a very musical family in NYC. The family moved to Buffalo where Claude started his musical journey, first in his grandfather's church choir and then in school learning to play the trombone. This early training along with the eclectic albums that his parents had in the home helped shape and strengthen his ear towards a love for jazz, big band and A Capella music. High school and college furthered the quest for singing in small groups, specifically with his 3 brothers first and then in college starting his own quartet. This college quartet would be the platform for what would become the Grammy award winning vocal sextet, Take 6.
Claude also coaches vocalists all over the world, with his “Building Blocks of the Song Stylist” online classes, and is a budding filmmaker as well.

It's Men's Month on Survive to Thrive! Welcome to Season 3. This month of November I will be interviewing amazing men from all walks of life to know what are the current challenges of being men in the world today- what has shaped them to be who they are today, and how we can support men more effectively moving forward.
After being diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury in 1981, DeLynn Cooley went on to receive an associate of applied science in respiratory therapy and nursing. She worked as a respiratory therapist for approximately three years and a nurse for eighteen years; currently working in an assisted living facility. She has owned multiple businesses and an entrepreneur.
While she was pushing forward, she often found herself living in the rearview mirror. But one day she realized she needed to put that water back under the bridge, so she started a journey of healing. After healing, she begun another journey: writing this book. She wrote this book to help others wake up, stop being victimized by their past, and start living an abundant life in the moment. During the journey, she received the Coach’s Award at Author Advantage Live 2019 for her resilience through life’s storms.
She enjoys going on adventures with her family in the Big Horn Mountains or at Lake DeSmet, doing genealogy work, and traveling. She has a huge heart and loves to serve others.
She hopes her readers will learn not to get stuck in the past, embrace their unique self, and let their divine sparkle shine.

Jeff Harry shows individuals and companies how to tap into their true selves, to feel their happiest and most fulfilled — all by playing. Jeff has worked with Google, Microsoft, Southwest Airlines, Adobe, the NFL, Amazon, and Facebook, helping their staff to infuse more play into the day-to-day.
Jeff is an international speaker who has presented at conferences such as INBOUND, SXSW, and Australia’s Pausefest, showing audiences how major issues in the workplace can be solved using play. Jeff was selected by BambooHR & Engagedly as one of the Top 100 HR Influencers of 2020 for his organizational development work around dealing with toxic people in the workplace. His play work has most recently been featured in the NY Times article: How Do We Add More Play To Our Grown-Up Life - Even Now. He has also been featured on AJ+, SoulPancake, the SF Chronicle, and CNN.
While we spend most of our time pretending to be important, serious grownups, it's when we let go of that facade and just play, that the real magic happens. Fully embracing your own nerdy genius — whatever that is — gives you the power to make a difference and change lives. Jeff believes that we already have many of the answers we seek, and by simply unleashing our inner child, we can find our purpose and, in turn, help to create a better world.

Claude V. McKnight, III is a Jazz, R&B, and Gospel Music Singer, as well as the founding member of the award-winning a cappella performing group Take 6. Claude was born on October 2, 1962 in Brooklyn, New York to Claude Jr. and Elaine. He was the oldest of four boys (the others being Fred, Mike, and Brian). He lived and grew up primarily in Buffalo and Orlando. He received his earliest musical influences in Buffalo, mostly from his grandfather, Fred Willis Sr., who was the choir director at his church. His earliest musical memories are from going to rehearsal with his mom every Friday night. He was able to learn parts and harmonize and see how his grandfather was able to lead a group of people. While in fourth grade, McKnight decided that he would learn to play the trombone, although he found it cumbersome. Playing the trombone, however, enabled him to start training his ear for his future musical career. He played trombone throughout high school, and after his sophomore year, his family moved to Orlando, Florida, where he continued to play and sing in the chorus. At that time, one of his goals was to play in the Tonight Show band with Doc Severinson. McKnight also played basketball in school, and upon graduation had to make the choice of going to school to play ball, or to pursue music. Instead, he chose to attend Oakwood College, his parents' alma mater, despite the college not being known for its music or athletic programs at that time. His youngest brother Brian is also a musician. One of the first things he did during his freshman year was to put together a freshman quartet, singing mostly barbershop style harmonies. A story goes that Mark Kibble came into a bathroom where they were rehearsing and added a fifth part to what they were doing, and subsequently joined the group. From there, Mervyn Warren joined the group, making it a sextet. Over the years, people came and went from the group as students graduated, but from 1985 the group has had primarily the same lineup, apart from Joey Kibble replacing Mervyn Warren in 1991. In addition to starting Take 6, he has also been involved in producing, writing, and doing voice-over work.

To start, Brianna Ruelas is a freaking rock star and BADASS on multiple levels. Let me lead with the sexy sizzle - Brianna was a finalist on the most competitive season ever on American Idol. A committed mom, a restaurateur, and a business coach to people in the entertainment business; add in author, phew, now I know why I make people's head spin! Brianna is like me times 10 million! Haha! But, seriously now, what I dig about Brianna the most is her heart. She is the real deal through and through. As a singer and performer for thirty years, Brianna has studied internationally and performed all genres, from jazz to rock to pop, received a BA in Theatre Arts from Pepperdine University. After graduating college, Brianna departed from the theatre to pursue music as a solo artist and also worked as a commercial voice-over actor. Brianna has fronted her own rock band and experienced the reality television craze in its early days, as a Top 100 finalist on American Idol, Season 4. In order to play at a high level in life, you have to have grit, and Christina has a bucketful of it! I have been lucky enough to hit the gym with Christina as we were both members of the same CrossFit box and she always impressed me with her hard work ethic and her determination on top of her big ole smile that lit up the room!
