Spring 2142 and Gated Galaxies has launched its 400 Oz-8000 ships, each carrying 50,000 "resting guests" to, hopefully, a new home on a shiny, brand-new planet. As soon as they find one. IF they find one.
This is the story of one of those ships – the Oz 9 – and its tiny crew of hopeless incompetents. So far, they've been in space half an hour and several hundred people are dead. So... bright future, clearly.
Exploring the Oz 9 isn't like exploring brave new worlds in the manner of highly questionable colonialists of eras past. Except for the alligators. And the swampy bits. Also not knowing what's safe to eat (hint: not bloody much). And the near-fatal encounters on a daily basis.
OK, so it's actually quite a bit like exploring brave new worlds, except for the bravery.
Just... listen to the episode. Try to stay out of the quagmires, and if you do get quagged, at least wipe your feet before you go wandering around the ship.
You've been listening to...

Be sure to join us next time as the mystery of the ketchup pen is finally solved! Maybe.
Exploration of the Oz 9 continues, and it's not going well. Though we did find some goldfish. And some bumper cars.
Traveling via vending machine is just unpredictable and not nearly as filling as you might imagine, but the crew are blundering around the ship from room to room and sandwich to sandwich, flirting with cowboys and this sentence is a bit long so I'm stopping now.

You know how they say "dog bites man" isn't a story, but "man bites dog" is? First, don't bite dogs. Second, think of how many things you've taken from a junk food machine. Yeah, there's a parallel in here somewhere, and it's super spooky, but I'm tired and you're going to have to make the connection yourself.
In this episode, Olivia's I-drops (iDrops?) have gotten mixed up with some other substances, and, well, if you thought added chaos might cancel out existing chaos....nope. It just piles on.

The Livestream for the Cure starts on May 17 and probably ends abruptly with much screaming on SATURDAY (not Sunday, ooops) May 20th at 8 pm when the Oz 9 crew takes over.
We hope you'll join us.
Learn more here: LivestreamForTheCure.com.
Our crew land on a strange planet ... and find someone truly strange.
BUT: here's your chance to hear a chunk of Dr. Theo's novel as our turnip greens attempt to evade what Joe refers to as "the stupidest way to die we've come up with yet."

John Faley writes our music; Lucas Elliott is responsible for our artwork. Sarah Golding is our dialogue editor, and sadly, Shannon Perry sound designed this mess.
Thanks for listening, space monkeys. Now go do something useful to make up for it.
Yes, I KNOW we said January, but hey, it's January somewhere, right?
The Oz 9 crew are finally (?) done with their plant-based emergency and have broken free of the Milky Way Galaxy. They're currently lurking in a galaxy that (if you're looking at it sideways and are 9 years old) has a vaguely rude shape. That should keep them entertained for a while.
Anyway, they might actually get off the 9 and explore a strange new world here soon, so now's probably a good time to say goodbye.
Please stay through the end credits to hear a very cool trailer for a very good show.
And we haven't gotten any reviews for, like, AGES, so you know , if you wanted to , you could, like, leave us one or something. No biggie.
You've been listening to:

Our music is by John Faley; our artwork is by Lucas Elliott. Sarah Golding is our dialog editor, and Oliver Morris is our sound designer. Oz 9 is written by Shannon Perry but if you say so in public, she'll deny it.
I tell ya, you turn your back for, like, three months, and someone just shoulders their way in there and takes over your ship, your characters... sheeesh.
ANYWAY, if you're familiar with A Ninth World Journal or Deconstructive Criticism, you've already enjoyed the work of our own Dr. Theo Bromae, better known as David S. Dear.
In this bonus episode, he gives us a glimpse of life behind the curtain. And in front of the toilet door COME ON ALREADY SOME OF US HAD RICE KUDZPIES AT SNACKTIME.
Tim Sherburn as Colin Bonnie Brantley as Jessie Shannon Perry as Madeline Kevin Hall as GregDavid S. Dear as himself Kyle Jones as Narrator 2 and Chris Nadolny Gourley as your Narrator
Our music is by John Faley; our artwork is by Lucas Elliott. Typically, Sarah Golding is our dialog editor, and Oliver Morris is our sound designer, but you have Shannon Perry to blame for those this time. This episode of Oz-9 was written by David S. Dear.
Welcome to the Audiotorium. It's Discussing Oz 9, with Narrator and Narrator 2, Pluto, and other assorted folks.
If you're not familiar with the Discussing Network and their stable of shows, Discussing Who, Discussing Trek, and Discussing Comics, you really could be listening to that instead of this. (http://www.discussingnetwork.com/)
But in the style of Discussing Stuff, it's a review of Oz 9's season 4, so if you haven't listened to all of season 4, well, spoilers, sweetie.
This episode was written by Kyle Jones and features ...
Chris Nadolny Gourley as your Narrator Kyle Jones as Narrator 2 (and far-too-briefly Clarence Brown as Narrator 2) Lee Shackleford as Pluto Tim Sherburn as Colin June Clark Eubanks as the Albatros Aaron Clark as Le Bichon Frise Richard Cowen as Leet Bonnie Brantley as Donna and Cpt Jessie Steven Crider as Rock Brickwell Richard Nadolny as the Alarm Shannon Perry as Olivia
Our music is by John Faley, our artwork by Lucas Elliott. Be sure to check out all the shows at our very dear friends' Discussing Network!
If you struggled through the classically complex and layered story of the last four seasons, you're not alone. It was, as Mrs Sheffield has it, "more twisty-turny than my graduate teaching assistant's insides after my AP Honours' Intestinal Inversion lecture and practicuum."
So Dr. Charles Tucket, who you may remember from another hiatus episode, The Oz 8000 Biosphere: Portrait of a Refuge, has been unthawed once again to provide some much-needed and hopefully not teeth-grittingly dull exposition and explanation.
Good luck. Take notes.
You've been listening to: Kyle Jones as the tour guide and Narrator Two. Chris Nadolny Gourley as your Narrator, and David S Dear as Dr. Charlie Tucket. Our music is by John Faley; our artwork by Lucas Elliott. Sarah Golding is the dialogue editor, and Oliver Morris is our sound designer. Oz 9 is written by Shannon Perry.
It's possible someone dies in this episode. I mean, it's possible someone dies in EVERY episode — it's really pretty astonishing when no one does — so you should probably pay attention today so you understand the chatter around the old fishbowl at work tomorrow.
Today's bonus information: a really tightly woven Italian suit can protect against some wimpier weaponry.
And just like that, another player is removed from the board. One episode left in Season Four, space monkeys. Will anyone survive?

Is anyone else hearing a weird ... flapping sound? And feeling a tiny bit of a breeze? But like, a weirdly hostile breeze that's just coiled up and waiting to turn into a tornado, given even a hint of a reason?
Just me? Huh.
Well, it's episode 78, and if you haven't learned your lesson by now, I can't help you.
Also, there will be a live listen-along for season-ending episode 80, so keep your eye on our Twitter (@oz9pocast) and our website (https://oz-9.com) for that one.

We're getting closer to the end of Season 4, and ... well, that's it, really. We're getting closer. Break out the confetti because you get a break from us!
Well, probably. We're kind of like barnacles — we have to be scraped off and then we still leave a sticky residue.
Anyway, lots going on in here, so I'll just leave you to it. Pass the sandwiches. And the tissue....

It's entirely possible this story has spun a wee bit out of control. But then, isn't that a lot like...life?
I mean, take your basic ergonomic keyboard. Don't you want to bash its tiny electronic brains out on a rock, only it was expensive and nominally doing something useful for your hands or wrists or something? While that might be an overreaction, might it also be considered an entirely understandable response to the fact that every time you try to type an exclamation point you get that weird squiggly tilde or whatever that thing is called, and let's face it, for some of us, there's just not that much call for a tilde, as I don't speak a language that requires it, nor do I need to indicate "approximately" that often-

SERIOUSLY????
Note: This is the final episode narrated by Richard Nadolny. HIs fabulous daughter Chris Nadolny Gourley takes over the mic in 76.
Other note: despite what the credits say, this episode was edited by Sarah Golding and sound designed by Oliver Morris. (Both geniuses; give them lots of gigs and money.)
We'd say the pace is picking up, but seriously, when you're just going around in circles because half of your engines are blown out, does pace really matter?
Also, did YOU know National Geographic has a Narrators' Lounge? Who do you suppose hangs out in there? Freeman and Attenborough, obv; surely Ron Howard drops by now and again, Benedict Cumberbatch probably quit coming by after that whole "peng-wing" incident... Oprah has her own wing...
Sorry, got a little distracted there. What were we talking about? Oh hell, I'm sure whatever it was, it wasn't very important.

It's episode 74, and you know what that means.... DO you know what it means? Could you write it on a note and slip it to us during study hall, because we've got nothing.
Things are just Nutty McNutface with this crew, and everyone's in the dark, literally and figuratively. Who can you trust when everyone's skulky and half the crew went to spy school but apparently no one actually read O Captain You're a Captain?

Brugmansia, it turns out, isn't a type of Italian leather shoe. Nor is it the third movement of something by Beethoven. And it is definitely NOT edible.
But it can be stuck in one's mouth and swallowed, so of course, the bumfluff crew of Oz 9 did.
BTW, St. Leonard's Day isn't a real thing. But it should be.

To start, massive cahooty thanks to Oliver Morris of Kane and Feels: Daytrippers without whom this episode might never have gotten edited and out. And do stay tuned for a taste of Kane and Feels at the end of the ep — it's delicious!
It's episode 72, and our squad of scrambled eggs are trying desperately to figure out who they can trust and who they can't, and the Gordion knot of it all will probably never be untangled, not that any of this crew have any notion what a Gordion knot is when it's at home.
Good luck to us all.

Before he left us, Richard recorded several episodes ahead. Hard as it is to hear his voice, it's also a joy to have a little more Narrator to share. He wanted these episodes to go out, and we want to honor that wish.
So you will hear Richard a few more times. If that's too much for you, skip on to 76, read the transcripts instead (you can find all our transcripts with their episodes on https://oz-9.com). Please do whatever it takes for you to care for yourself.
In this episode, you'll hear from many members of the cast, sharing their memories of Richard. You'll also hear a couple of big announcements about Oz 9's future.
Spoiler: starting Saturday, June 11, the adventure continues. See you 'round the bend, Space Monkeys.

Leet's been boiling up ... well, we're not sure what those are. He thought they were apples, and he was trying to make apple cider. Or maybe apple sauce, we're not really clear what he was aiming for. In any event, he ended up with something that can only be contained in these special jars the Albatros makes from clay from the bioswamp; it burns right through everything else.
Anyway, if someone invites you to have a swig of swamphooch, we really suggest you run away. Maybe punch them first, because clearly they're trying to kill you, and that'll give you a little more time to escape.

You thought your job was hard, imagine being Narrator (or Narrator 2, really) for this boatload of Twinkies. (Which, incidentally have still not shown any signs of decomposition in 2142, just sayin'.)

It's true many people complain that Oz 9 is not only NOT educational, it may in fact "leach information out of your brain as you listen." (thanks, mom — real nice)
We beg to differ. Did you know zebras were once called "hippotigruses" (hippotigri? whatever)? Think of how much you've learned about plants and space and maths and fugu and Sweden!

It's episode 61, and incredibly, it seems our crew might have actually lost some brain cells over the hiatus. I swear, if there's a skull and crossbones on it, this crew wants to eat it, marry it, or at least put it in the garage next to something flammable.
In this episode:
June Clark Eubanks as the Albatros
Tim Sherburn as Colin
Bonnie Brantley as Donna and Jessie
David S Dear as Dr. Theo
Eric Perry as Dr. von Haber Zetzer
Kevin Hall as Greg
Aaron Clark as Le Bichon Frise
Richard Cowen as Leet
Sarah Golding as Mrs Sheffield & Henri
Shannon Perry as Olivia and Madeline
and Richard Nadolny as your Narrator.
Our artwork is by Lucas Elliott; our music is composed and performed by John Faley. This episode was directed by June Clark Eubanks. Oz 9 is written and produced by Shannon Perry.
Our comic book is nearly out! Keep an eye on @oz9podcast on Twitter and our Etsy store at etsy.com/shop/Oz9podcast.
Written by Lee Shackleford of the awesome sci-fi audio drama Relativity, this bonus episode exposes you to yet more of Oz 9 that you were hoping to avoid.
Is it possible an advanced alien species is coming aboard the ship? Well, yeah, I mean — they're in space. But, are they friendly? This is the Oz 9. What are the chances?
HUGE thanks to Lee, who wrote AND produced this episode despite all our mostly unintentional efforts to thwart him. BTW, Lee is an amazing voice and stage actor, writer, and human being, so if you want to get in contact, find him at shacklefordfreelance.com.
We'd like to dedicate this second hiatus episode to our one fan in Zambia.
To date, according to our stats, there have been 86 downloads in Zambia. We figure that's one fan who listened to every episode, including all the hiatus and bonus stuff, and to him, her, or them, we say a profound "thank you!"
And the same "thank you" to everyone who listens. We know there's more important stuff you can be doing, like thinning out your spatula collection or arranging your vegetable garden in descending order, but you chose to spend it with us. That means a lot.
All the very best, space monkeys.
From yer ever-lovin',
Crew
"The hiatus ate us!" That line, courtesy of the brilliant Bonnie Brantley, is all too true.
We started our hiatus with great plans to do all kinds of fun Oz 9-y things in all that copious free time, only to have our ideas evaporate in the harsh light of real life.
Sorry. But here's some of us talking about stuff. Does that help?
This one is a beast. Go to the bathroom, get some water, maybe load up on some snacks. Is your listening device charged?
Get comfy. We have a lot to tell.

You've been awesome! No, really. I'd love to be able to reward your patience, but instead I just have an episode. I know it's not much, but I made it myself.

Special thanks to Ann Sloan of the awesome Carlötta Beautox Chronicles podcast, for the Smoking Ruin cocktail idea!
With just three episodes (well, this one plus two more) left in the season, is that a cliff I see ahead? With a small branch protruding from its face, just right for hanging?
Things are moving along at a rapid pace, much like the Oz 9 isn't, and there are surprises, tears, laughter, warming of hearts, girding of loins, rending of garments, and possibly smoochies ahead.
Oh, and you're gonna want to stick through the credits this time. YES, WE DID THAT THING WHERE WE PUT SOMETHING IMPORTANT AFTER THE CREDITS, WOULD IT KILL YOU TO LISTEN TO THEM ONCE IN A WHILE?
Sheesh.

This episode begins with a funeral, so you might want to have tissues handy.
The production assistant was supposed to get hypo-allergenic flowers for the ceremony but managed to find hyper-allergenic ones, which don't only make you sneeze, they cram themselves up your nose until you beg for mercy.
The PA has been fwipped, so if you have even remotely appropriate experience, we're hiring.

I'm contractually obligated to tell you that we're running a Kickstarter campaign to try to fund turning Oz 9 into a comic book. So please give us money, if you can, or tell other people to give us money. Or both. Thanks and whatever.
Here's a surprise: Jessie doesn't like comics. She says they're too colourful and she's never read one. I would have recommended she read them when she's not in a bad mood, but maybe that's what she's already doing?
Anyway, you know the drill. You've been listening to these people. Gourd knows why.
Shannon Perry as Madeline and Olivia
Richard Cowen as Leet
David S. Dear as Dr. Theo Bromaeeee...

Our artwork (which is also in the comic book, just sayin') is by Lucas Elliott; our music is composed and performed by John Faley, except the MCCACEC fight song, which was composed and ... lyricized? lyricked? by Sarah Golding. Oz 9 is written and produced by Shannon Perry.
Until next time, Space Monkeys!
A rift in time and space causes four members of the Oz 9 crew to get pulled off the space ship (bringing the median IQ up a significant number of notches) and swapped with four members of the EMF (aaaaaaaaaaand we're back to where we were, IQ-wise).
This is part two of a special two-part crossover with the frankly hilarious secret agent comedy, Mission: Rejected. If you haven't heard part one yet, stop, put us on pause, go out, listen to part 1 on the Mission: Rejected feed, come back, take us off pause, because from this moment forward....
I'd say "spoilers," but let's face it... it's mostly nonsense.
Be sure to listen to the fantastic comedy being dished up at Mission: Rejected (https://missionrejected.simplecast.com/). You won't regret it. Much.

OK, OK, yes, it's late AGAIN. We know. We've been having a really rough time lately, the kids are sick, the roof caved in when we had that thunderstorm last week, and then there was that other thing....
No, you're right. None of that is true. Our alarm is a bored dude just saying "alarm alarm alarm" over and over, so clearly this is not a well-financed, slick-and-professional thing we've got going here.
Throw some money at our Patreon or Kofi, and maybe we can talk about maintaining a schedule. It won't happen, but we can talk.

Until then, Space Monkeys!
All the backstory you never wanted and then some. We find out some stuff about Le Bichon Frise, some other stuff about Donna, blah blah blah. Greg falls over at one point, so that's pretty funny.
I'd say "sorry it's so late," but I feel like I ought to be it before I say it. So.... It's late.

Until next time, Space Monkeys, Narrator out!
The universe may be crashing around your ears, but as long as you know the difference between who and whom and how to scoop up a dangling participle, you'll be all right. It's kind of like knowing where your towel is.
In this very special episode, a guest pops onto the ship and into Leet's arms, and for a few moments at least, all seems right with the world.
A very few moments. And not really "right" so much as "slightly less wrong."

Do you know how to disable an invisible alarm? Yeah, well, listen close; someone on our crew is about to tell you.
Well, maybe... we're not entirely sure it works, so I don't know that I'd test it at the Louvre. Maybe Paddy MacDougal's Museum O'Naughty Limericks and Saucy Sea Shanties first.
Just steer clear of the green milkshakes. Actually, that's a really good lesson for the Oz 9 as well.
Anyway, here's the episode, it's late, and there are probably half a dozen limericks at Paddy's that could push it down and steal its lunch money, but never mind. Someone bring me some wine, and don't spare the chickens.

The crew aboard the Oz 9 are stalactites, holding tight to the ceiling in unexpected zero Gs, and the crew on the ground are stalagmites, who might survive if a crabby, oddly dressed ancient god decides to let them go.
You know, same old same old.
Oz 9 is back from holiday break, though why a crew that typically works a solid seven-minute day needs a break is yet to be determined.
We hope you missed us as much as we very nearly missed that very important satellite. Hey, who needs news in this day and age, amirite?
To punish Kevin Hall for having the gall to ... something, I can't remember what it was he did, but for sure he did something really bad to merit this kind of response.... Anyway, maybe just to be mean, we made him relisten to Oz 9, write a bunch of trivia questions, then ask them to four people who among them could barely scrape up an answer to the question of what they had for breakfast on that particular day.
It's nearly 90 minutes of "uhhhhhh....." and "hang on, I know I know this one," and "seriously, Kevin, where are you getting these questions?!" and very few answers, but if you like that sort of thing, it's good for an occasional laugh.
Seriously, thanks to Kevin for enduring, and for Bryan, Corey, and Jess for being amazing, fantastic sports.
EARLIER SOUND ISSUES HAVE BEEN CORRECTED, AND OUR PRODUCTION PERSON HAS BEEN FWIIIIIIIIIIII......
What happens when the alien aboard your ship gets hungry?
Usually really gross things involving lots of blood and gore and that, but fortunately for us, the grossest thing in this episode is a small critter popping out of an orifice. Which is actually less gross than it sounds. Wait for it.
The ships of Samantha Lyons and the Oz 9 have stumbled into one another in space, and Leet's had lots of caffeine, and there's some dancing.
Please note that Oz 9 will be taking a brief holiday hiatus and we'll be back in January of 2021. Happy hols to alls!
Humans on the receiving end of divine affections don't do so well, mythologically speaking. However, after having seen Donna in action, the smart money is on the homo sapien. Pluto better watch his gold lamé onesie, if he knows what's good for him.
With this episode, we are officially halfway through Season 3 of Oz 9, so let's all take a moment to realize this crew of idiots has managed to survive this long. Well, apart from Matt, that guard in the tunnel, Lady Nibble-Biscuit, the mime, several thousand pod-occupants, 1/3 of Sweden.... never mind.
As this gaggle of ninnies is still out there, do please be careful. Wear your mask, wash your hands, carry Idiot Repellant, and join us for WiFiSciFi on December 6!

I'd apologize for this being so late, but if you think about it, I gave you an extra 16-and-a-half Oz-free hours, which is, like, a decade in idiot years.
It's been a long day aboard the Oz 9. You think bad decision making is easy — Doritos for dinner? Yes, please. Easy! Go for a run or drink chocolate milk with vodka? Vodka. Definitely. Easy! —and yet, it's exhausting.
So, you'll get no apology from me, unless I come across one on my way to the couch.

Remember how there was that one week you were sick or maybe just on vacation but too poor to go anywhere? And you watched daytime TV, and even though you knew it was ridiculous and cheesy, by Friday you were desperate to know if little Suzy really was Armoire's daughter and if Aristato would find Nectarina in time to stop her from marrying ... I don't know, Ponderosa Jutjaw or whatever?
Just stay with me, this is relevant.
What I'm saying is, it's totally possible to get swept up in a story, even if the story is kind of nonsense and the characters are slightly less intelligent than waffles.
Don't believe me? This is episode 48.

What would you do if everything in your garden suddenly attacked you? Carrots shooting themselves at your eyes, radishes nibbling tiny, spicy holes in your ankles, kohlrabi shouting at you, probably in German, given how "kohlrabi" is spelled — does it seem German to you? just me? — and let's not even talk about what the watermelon is trying to do. I just caught a mosquito with my ... nope, there it is again.
Would you ever be able to eat a salad again?
This is vaguely relevant to episode 47, but only sort of. Meanwhile, I'm going to have nightmares about cauliflower.

Probably the most remarkable thing that happens in this entire episode is that Le Bichon Frise pronounces "assassinate" correctly.
I know. We were pretty shocked too.
It happens at the bottom of page 3, so if you just want to hear that and skip the rest, I don't suppose anyone would blame you.
Oh, and there's a bit about a butterfly that's funny. You might want to stick around for that. And the discount code for the chocolate. That's never a bad thing.

It's really late. The kind of late that keeps on getting later until it circles back round to early. When I'm this blurry and tired, I'm likely to say anything. Like how much more bearable life became on this ship with we busted Dr. Theo out of his pod. Geeky never looked so good....
See, now what did I say? Stop with the questions and the "oooo tell me everything" eyes. Dr. Theo is extremely fond of his personal space, and that's all there is to it. So shut up. I'm going to bed.

Have you ever considered taking up a REAL hobby? Like stamps or shuffleboard or knitting quilts or something?
It's episode 44, and no one is any smarter than they were 43 episodes ago, and that includes you, since your brain is no doubt deteriorating at a much faster clip than it would have if you'd done Sudoku or whatever it is instead.

If you've ever wondered about our crew's lives before they got wrapped up in the drama of the Oz 9, well, keep wondering, because you're not going to learn a damn thing from this disaster of an episode.
You're listening to:
Eric Perry as Dr. von Haber Zetzer and
Sarah Golding as pretty much everybody else. Except
Richard Nadolny as the Narrator.
Our theme is by John Faley; the other music in this episode comes from several artists on Storyblocks. Our art is by Lucas Elliott. This episode was directed by June Clark Eubanks and was written and produced by Shannon Perry.
Season 3 starts in one week (provided we don't blow ourselves up before then), so until July 19, Space Monkeys....
If you think Oz 9 looks like chaos from the front, well, it's just as raggedy and unkempt 'round the back (if slightly less dangerous). In this bonus episode for our hiatus, our 4 newest cast members, David S. Dear, Sarah Golding, Kevin Hall, and Iri Alexander, gathered to talk about life as a voice actor and the swirling tornado of imminent doom that is existence aboard the Oz 9.
We'll be back with our first episode of Season Three on July 19, 2020, so until then, Space Monkeys, stay silly.
The Oz ships failed under mysterious circumstances entirely caused by their on-board crews or natural disaster wholly unrelated to Gated Galaxies or its subsidiaries, officers, or agents. G2 accepts no responsibility or liability for loss of liberty, limb, or life due to incorrect use of machinery, gross negligence, intentional or reckless misconduct. By simply existing, you acknowledge that life is inherently dangerous and often fatal and absolve Gated Galaxies of any and all injury you may incur whilst voluntarily engaging in the hazardous activity known as living.
That said, Welcome to the Oz 9 Bioswamp!
It's the end of Season 2, and our crew are still dumb, still in space, and still hovering at the edge of death. Thanks to all the zig zagging around the galaxy, they're nearly back where they started, and the forniculator still hasn't been fixed.
So, if you've been with us for the past 39 episodes, well, you probably could have skipped this bit. Let's hope Season 3 is better.
In Season 2, you heard from:
Iri Alexander as Julie

Episode 39 means one more until the end of Season 2, and where we're going is no clearer than the muck at the bottom of the bioswamp. But hey, you've gotten this far, you might as well stick with us a little longer. Eventually, it'll all make sense.

Look, I've been up all night, and seriously the first person to speak to me may find themselves trying to pour coffee into a stump. Like, where their head used to be, not a tree, that was supposed to be sort of threatening and scary. Never mind.

Remember, space monkeys, stay safe and wash your hands.... Especially if you've touched anything on the Oz 9, yuck.

These are some crazy times, Space Monkeys, so take care and be well!
Beans — BIG beans — are about to be spilled aboard the Oz 9, and that could spell trouble for the crew. Especially if the beans land in a very particular way that happens to spell "trouble."
And someone aboard the Oz 9 is not doing their job. I realize I should probably narrow that down for you, as it's a hefty list, but just listen up and you'll figure it out.

What do you do when your Otologostealth X13 runs out of charge?
That wasn't actually a rhetorical question — the manual is in Ancient Mesopotamian (we think) and none of the charging cables we have fits. Anyone?
Anyway, we say goodbye to a crewmate this episode, so get your hanky ready or use your sleeve or whatever, just prepare to have your innards stepped on in the name of emotional manipulation.

No one said life in space would be easy. Though if they'd listened closely, the people buying seats on the Oz ships might have heard G2 officials mutter under their breath about how easy death in space was going to be ...
Anyway, it's a Thursday aboard the Oz 9, which means Leet is optimistic about their chances of survival. He's alone in that, but hey, he's a rebel.

It's the holiday season aboard the Oz 9, though how that happened when they launched in spring, like, a month ago, is anyone's guess.
But whatever the case, there's a mysterious box in Cargo Bay 7, and whether it was delivered by Santa or Satan... well, I guess you'll have to listen to find out, now won't you?

A very happy holidays to you, space monkeys!
On December 4, 2019, Oz 9 did a live show at the South Side Podfest at Bar 171 in Chicago, Illinois.
It was the evening of the Annual Assassins Holiday Dinner. Of course, the Albatros and le Bichon Frise attended, with chaperone Cpt. Madeline, who was very upset to learn that no one with any sense at all ate the delicious-smelling food.
Thank you to Nick Mataragas and Memoriam Development for creating this fun event and putting us on the list, thank you to Bar 171 for hosting us, and thank you to those who attended. Lady Trout’s henchmen will be visiting those who didn’t laugh enough, don’t think we didn’t see you.
Special thanks to Susan Franzen and Eric Davis for traveling vast distances – though not as far as us, we’re from outer space, for crying out loud – to take on special assassin duties.
You’ve been listening to:
June Clark Eubanks as the Albatros
Aaron Clark as le Bichon Frise
Introducing Susan Franzen as the Minx and Eric Davis as the Hound dog
Karin Heimdahl as Lady Trout,
Bonnie Brantley as Jessie
Shannon Perry as Olivia and Madeline,
And Richard Nadolny as your Narrator.
Until next time, Space Monkeys, Narrator out.
Episode 29, in which we learn the meaning of the Scottish slang word "boaking." Repeatedly. In vivid color.
In this episode, the world has gone topsy turvy — up is down, left is right, enemies are friends...
But the fugu is still poisonous, and our crew are still idiotic and imperiled.
And there's a gecko. An amorous one.
You’ve been listening to:
Aaron Clark as le Bichon Frise
Bonnie Brantley as Jessie
Eric Perry as Dr. von Haber-Zetzer, Head 1, and Joe

An episode so full of unexpected twist and turns, you should probably schedule an appointment with your chiropractor now.
Wet sandwiches, heat-resistant foxes, and some highly suspect popcorn flavoring are the very least of the crew's problems today, so be throw on some wooly slippers, grab a nibble that doesn't fight back, and enjoy NOT being on the Oz 9.

Does it sometimes seem like everything that is trying to kill you wants to talk to you about it first? I mean, I don't really feel like I need to connect with you on an emotional level when I'm just trying to keep breathing.
In episode 27, a very unexpected truth is revealed — but is it good news? Or very very bad indeed?
Smart money's on bad. I'm going with bad.

Who doesn't love a good origin story, amirite?
Here's hoping you also love a mediocre one.
Even a sort of lousy one that involves a lot of people with fishy sounding names (you'll get that joke once you've heard it).

Name three animals that can see in the dark.

It's the much-awaited (or not really), highly anticipated (or sort of mediumly anticipated) Full Cast Q & A, including the guy who does our music!
We had a rare opportunity to gather the entire cast of Oz 9 together in one room, so we quickly made a plan to cast even more doubts on our status as functioning adults by making everyone answer questions.
Thanks to some awesome patrons and Podcast Junkie discord server family, we had fun questions to ask, answer, and not have a clue about.
So much gratitude to Kyle Jones, Raymond Morse, Jessica Vest, Travis Hull, Paul Nicholls, and Eddie Louise Clark for the fantastic Qs (and we apologize in advance for our As).
You're listening to:
Our theme music (which "perfectly sets the tone," thank you, Kyle) is by John Faley. There are a couple of spoilers within, so if you haven't heard all of Season 1, you may want to do that first.
A behind-the-scenes, into-the-chaos peek into how Oz 9 gets made and why it's .... the way it is.
There are some spoilers here, so be sure you listen to the whole of Season 1 (maybe 2 or 3 times) before you take this on.

Somewhere aboard the Oz 9, a bomb is ticking. Actually, a crap-ton of things are going wrong aboard the Oz 9; this is just the biggest and most likely to kill our crew the soonest.

Thanks to Jessica Vest for submitting her awesome sandwich recipe, which we double-dog dare her to try.
If you've ever been in mortal peril, you know the most crucial decision you'll make in that situation is your choice of writing implement.
No? Well, that makes you smarter than this crowd, but before your head swells up just in time for bikini season, remember, we are talking about the dumbest bunch of sofa cushions ever to have their own theme song.
Things have never been good aboard the failing, flailing Oz 9, but they've recently taken a turn for the worse. And, given that all the left-side engines are out, they just keep turning.
With just 2 episodes left in Season 1 of Oz 9, the crew is running out of time. Join us as they waste a bunch of it, trying to survive another day.

You know that one colleague at work who is just hopeless? Tries earnestly to do the job, help out, and be useful, but usually ends up spilling his beer on the control panel and shorting out half the city? Yeah, would you mind taking him back because WE HAVE ENOUGH IDIOTS UP HERE, THANKS.
Sorry.
Seriously the best part of this whole episode is when someone named Kenzie tries to order Thai food.

It's that kind of day, innit? One minute, you're out having a quick ciggie next to the tip, and then the world goes all wobbly, and suddenly you're aboard someone else's spaceship, only it's held together with duct tape and optimism and crewed by the biggest bunch of idiots who ever graced the skies, and there's something ... or possibly someone ... all over your boots.
Big thanks to the Mark Restuccia of the Best in Galaxy podcast for lending us C4 for a while.

The episode that finally answers the critical question: why do robots climb like cows?
There's an arm under the sofa, Jessie's dangling from a shelf in Maintenance Bay 15, and we learn what ligatures are for.
It's, like, Day 7? 8? aboard the Oz 9, and things haven't gotten any better. Does anyone know a good pycnologist?

'Allo, little piggies!
The notorious assassin le Bichon Frise is circling our crew like a vulture who hopes his prey drops soon because he's tired and hungry and a little cranky and frankly probably a little dehydrated and his blood sugar's low, he just knows it, and this dry desert air is doing NOTHING for his skin.
He's ready to do some assassaning, but this bloody crew just will not cooperate.
Oh, and pod 666 just popped open, so it's anyone's guess what happens next.

Here's a shocker: the Oz 9 crew's lives are in danger. Suffocation, toxic gas, a loose assassin, the risk of being crushed under their own denseness–perils lurk around every corner and certainly between slices of bread.
Still, they've managed to make it through 14 episodes, so there may be hope for them yet.
Oh, who are we kidding. These people would starve to death on a broken carousel.

It's late, and there's an assassin loose aboard the Oz 9, but Leet isn't going to let that interrupt his conversation with sleeping people.
After all, in at least a dozen conversations, only one of them called him stupid.

Captain Jessie is now aboard the Oz 9, which is great, except she brought her assassin with her (pro tip: don't do that), and he's managed to get a hold of some fairly crucial information about the Oz 9.

It's Day Two And we're as startled as you are that anyone's still alive.
Day two on the Oz 9 sees the crew celebrating fewer fatalities (sorry, Matt) at least on board (sorry, Sweden) and making a critical discovery about cheese.
But the two-headed repairbot is awake again and wreaking some havoc, Madeline needs to warn Jessie about her crew, and apparently, if someone invites you to go on an adventure in space, don't go back for your purse or to the porta-loo.

Will Madeline and Joe be able to fix the copulatron and attach it to the forniculator before they realize neither of these things

Have you ever thrown the last of your milkshake out the car window, only to have it splat on the windshield of the car behind you? Still smoking from the launch pad, our band of space explorers can't quite get a grip on this whole "survival" idea. So I wouldn't get too attached to them.
On an otherwise unexceptional Tuesday in 2042, Gated Galaxies fired off 400 of its Oz 8000™ ships, each with 50,000 “resting guests” tucked into stasis pods, plus a skeleton crew of up to half-a-dozen total no-hopers.
It was a win-win for G2, as they’re known, as the Oz 8000 model was about to be declared “unfit for journeying to the nearest 7-Eleven, much less interstellar space” and recalled. G2 had a very large fleet of the 8000s, and a slight head start on the recall, as they’d paid off the head inspector to delay her report by promising the ships would be stripped and sold for parts. Instead, the ships were spit-shined, outfitted with some black market YugoPods™, and space aboard quietly sold to very very rich people on the promise that somewhere up there, screamingly wealthy and privileged lives away from the riff raff of Earth were to be had.
To their credit, there was a lot of screaming, so they had that right.
This is the story of one of those ships, the Oz 9, and the utterly futile attempts of its crew to fulfill its stated mission: to deliver the passengers safely to their new, terraformed planet. At its unstated (and unknown) mission – to make Gated Galaxies even richer by doing some sneaky, underhanded and occasionally homicidal things – it was a massive success.
