COVID changed everything—our freedoms, our beliefs, and even how we think about science itself. But in the aftermath of lockdowns, mandates, and mass fear, one question remains: Did we actually follow science, or just a carefully crafted narrative?

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Michael J. Schwartz, a medical expert specializing in genetics, respiratory pathogens, and immunology, who has analyzed over 19,000 patients and 44,000 test results throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. As a clinic owner, laboratory director, and author of “Fauci’s Fiction” and “Vaccine Fiction,” Dr. Schwartz has firsthand knowledge of how government policies, media narratives, and flawed data shaped the pandemic response.

We dig into the real numbers behind COVID testing and vaccines, the impact of lockdowns on public health, and the politicization of science. Did we follow the best medical practices, or did government agencies manipulate the narrative? Were vaccine mandates based on solid science, or were key data points ignored? And what happens the next time the world faces a crisis like this?

No matter where you stand on COVID, this episode will challenge you to rethink what we were told—and what we weren’t. Tune in now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.

Mindset and Motivation Kurt's mindset was shaped by his early experiences with bullying and dyslexia. He used these challenges as fuel for his success, maintaining an unwavering pace in training and competition. I was first introduced to my good friend John Harvey by our mutual bro Dave Fowler. At the time, John was the guy who was thumping away on the bass guitar with the emo band Secondhand Serenade.

During his touring days, John also played with artists like Jessie James Decker, Jackson Harris, Williams Honor, Natalie Stovall to name a few.

Nowadays John keeps busy composing original music for TV and movies while also running various successful side hustles and business ventures.

John is amongst my favorite conversationalists and deep thinkers and today we walk through his incredible musical journey and trace back his work ethic while taking several tangents along the way that I thoroughly enjoyed and I think you will too.

John is a complex guy, but somehow manages to keep things simple. He's a big believer in sticking to your guns, rolling with the punches, and he seems to have found an uncanny way to being ok with switching gears and leaving ego out of it, which for a musician is a rather rare accomplishment.

We talked about the digital world as a whole and how social media can be a tool that both connects us and throw us off our game, making us question our self-worth and the quality of our connections. It's a tricky balance, but he's navigated it with eyes wide open, aiming for real, meaningful interactions in a world that’s always online.

This chat is for anyone who’s ever wondered how to keep their creative spark alive while staying true to themselves in a digitized, often impersonal world. Whether you’re an artist, a musician, or someone with a dream and a day job, there’s something in John’s story for you.

Leave Us a Review In this episode I spoke to my long-time friend, globally acclaimed tattoo artist, and painter Mark Longenecker. Mark is a fellow native of New Jersey and like me spent much of his younger years surfing at the beaches of the Jersey Shore and skateboarding in the streets and on backyard ramps in the burbs. Mark studied Graphic Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design and is perhaps best known as a competitor in the national television show Ink Master. Longenecker made it to the Top four out of 18 artists and was recognized for his will to fight and never give up. Mark made his way to the warm waves and free spirit of Key West, Florida where he honed his artistic skills and worked as a graphic designer, designing logos and other artwork for the local businesses, as well as Jimmy Buffett’s recording studio. His style took on a tropical island vibe that he now calls "tropistyle." Mark began adorning himself with tattoos and designing them for friends, eventually leading him to Goldie's Tattoo, where he embarked on an apprenticeship that would change his life. Mark's dedication and talent took him on a journey across the vibrant Florida art scene, from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale. Settling in Cocoa Beach in 2004, he fulfilled his dream of opening Endless Summer Tattoo, a beachfront studio that feels like a fusion of a Tiki Bar, Surf Shop, and Skateboarding Museum. Beyond his art, Mark is a community icon and renaissance man. He generously gives his time and creativity to local charity events and fundraisers and also is recognized for spinning music as a DJ and teaching Yoga to Cocoa Beach locals. In our candid conversation, Mark talks about his relentless work ethic that artists need to thrive, the eventual impact of AI on creative professions, and the incredible journey that has defined his path as an artist. Jay Alders and Mark also talked about some “pinch me moments” and what it’s like to “make it” as an artist. I am so stoked to share my conversation with Adam Topol. Adam is a professional percussionist best known as the drummer with the legendary singer-songwriter and surfer, Jack Johnson.

This conversation took me on a journey through Adam's musical career, and his unwavering commitment to giving back to the community.

Adam let me dive in on the deep end of his mind to explore and we unearthed some fascinating topics that I could have talked about all day.

We traded thoughts on being creative from a place of intuition and emotion, and the importance of finding gratitude in the little things as an artist – which for many of us is challenging. We also talked about the music scene, rolling with celebrities, staying humble, and the importance of being a fan first so you never lose touch with the magic of music.

Professionally speaking, Adam spends a lot of his time touring the world and providing the heartbeat and rhythm behind Jack Johnson. Yet Adam’s musical collaborations reach far beyond the recognizable and super catchy drum fills in "Flake" and "Bubble Toes". Adam has jammed with Joey Santiago and Ziggy Marley and collaborated with musical icons like David Gilmour and Jimmy Cliff and as you'll hear in this episode Adam also has rubs cheeks (literally) with another one of my favorites, Dave Matthews.

Topol also has several side projects that keep him busy. The most notable is Culver City Dub Collective which is known for its captivating blend of Jamaican roots reggae, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and West Coast bossa beats. Topol has also put out three studio albums as a solo artist, the latest one titled “Cuando” in which he collaborated with producer and fellow singer-songwriter Matt Costa.

It was abundantly clear from our conversation, that Adam Topol is all about giving back and being authentic. As a former public school teacher, Adam looks for ways to not only entertain but to leave the world a better place than he found it.

Like his bandmate Jack Johnson, Adam believes in using his platform to make a positive impact on the planet and is deeply committed to volunteer service and connecting with others.

I felt the connection when talking to Adam too. He’s down to Earth, wears his heart on his sleeve, and is making art for the right reasons.

I went into this conversation not knowing which direction it would take and couldn’t be happier with the twists and turns of this exchange.

In this episode, I spoke to professional Photographer Anita Sadowska. Anita mainly focuses her lens on swimwear, fashion, and fine art nude models and has developed a thriving business with a diverse income stream.

Aside from her busy shooting schedule, over the past decade, she's built her YouTube channel to share her knowledge photographic gear, and techniques. Her 100,000 subscribers tune in regularly to learn about her photography techniques, editing methods, and how she works with models and to be inspired. Clearly she's doing something right with her videos having millions of views.

Sadowska talks about her love of travel and feels quite comfortable globe-trotting and documenting her world travels. Anita has called many places home including London, the United States, Bali, and throughout Europe.

Anita is passionate and vocal about breaking taboos around nudity and seeing the human body as an art form.

In this candid conversation with Anita, we also discussed how she uses NFTs and other digital assets to supplement her income stream.

I asked Anita about some of the conflicting moral issues and shame around nudity in society and where she sees her creative focus going in the future.

Matt Grundy is a California-based world-renowned multi-instrumentalist, touring, and studio musician. Matt has performed with and toured with some of the biggest names in the music industry including G. Love, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson as well as his main gig accompanying Donavon Frankenreiter which keeps him quite busy circling the globe year-round.

When not on tour, Grundy feels most himself with his wife, and daughter or in his music studio. Matt speaks from the heart about how he always seeks balance between living the rockstar life and being a bit more introverted at home.

Grundy describes his lifestyle and career as bipolar based on the extremes he experiences in both directions, from luxurious trips to Richard Branson’s Necker Island to staying in a room full of penis statues in Tahiti, to traveling around Europe in a souped-up cargo van with no heat and wooden bunks.

Matt has built up an impressive fluency on guitar, bass guitar, harmonica, vocals and drums, and aside from his gigging life he’s been developing his reputation as a singer-songwriter. Thus far he’s put out two studio albums and takes his music creation very seriously.

We go far and wide on this podcast. Matt shares his thoughts on AI and how it's affecting the music industry and how streaming platforms have become the new record label behemoth. Matt dives into his creative process and how he's constantly learning new things and improving his skills as a musician.

We touched upon what it’s like to be around true greatness and how toxic it can be to compare yourself to others. Matt says that he has a very obsessive mind and his former life with addiction has helped him to learn to point those compulsions at better things like fitness, sobriety, health, family, music and evolving as a human.

In talking to Grundy, it’s clear that he’s doing music for the right reason. He said that he's not looking to be rich and famous anymore, but he's always going to keep making music the way he wants to, regardless of who does or doesn't listen to it.

I’ve been friends with Matt since we were on tour together in Brazil in 2007 and I love my talks with Grundy.

Jay Shaughnessy, better known as "Bstract", is a British musician and visual artist who calls the Channel Islands his home, situated between England and France. Bstract produces his own pieces of art which are hand-painted and digitally enhanced, and are sold exclusively as non-fungible tokens.

His abstract symbolic works are inspired by his life as a professional musician, the beauty of nature and love, his travels through various cultures, and his fascination with technology and modernization. For more than a decade, Shaughnessy has been working as a professional bass plater and has played at several renowned festivals and venues across the UK and Europe.

He is also a member of the band Lloyd Yates and holds a degree in Popular Music (Bass) from the British and Irish Modern Music Institute.

The pandemic caused a break in his music career and gave him the opportunity to explore another passion - Art.

In the beginning of 2021, he discovered non-fungible tokens, and since then has been having a wild ride in the world of Web3. In the past year and a half in the crypto-art space, Bstract has had an amazing journey, with more than 200 sales and collaborations with some incredible artists.

His works have been showcased around the globe in places such as the UK, US, Europe and Asia, and even have the endorsement of Mark Cuban!

Recently, he was featured in Time's Emerging Artist series and won the Unstoppable Remix contest after Sia chose his work. He was also chosen to be a featured speaker at NFT London. Bstract has cultivated a unique style by combining his sound and visual art, and all of his projects are recorded on the blockchain, from his genesis collection to his upcoming works.

His newest piece has been selected to be displayed in Times Square in April 2023, and he will be speaking at the event alongside his fiancé Emily Faye.

Gabe Weis is a multidisciplinary artist and an absolute legend in the NFT space. When the Bay area-based fine artist is not selling out 5,000 piece collections in minutes he can be found hobnobbing with A-list celebrities like Paris Hilton and floating around in zero gravity airplanes making art.

Aside from selling millions of dollars in NFTs and artwork Gabe readily admits that he is "pretty good at self-promotion" and an expert in marketing and building communities which no doubt are some of the keys to his massive success.

Weis doesn't hold back in this conversation and openly talks about his beginnings growing up with a cookie-cutter, rather normal childhood to opening his mind with the help of psychedelics and becoming the rising star of NFTs that he is today.

Gabe talked about how The Stoics, his most popular NFT project took off and as of today has a sales volume of about $2.25 million dollars.

From his humble beginnings and a stint in politics, Gabe still focuses on making a difference in the world. Nowadays he lets his art do the work and focuses on family, building his brand, growing his community, and piling up one surreal experience on top of the other.

It was refreshing to speak to Gabe. I can feel the authenticity and excitement come out in the way he speaks about his life. There's no doubt that he is grateful for what he's built and his inner child is still very much still a big part of his persona.

"I don't make it to be perfect...I do like the challenge of kind of getting a piece where I like it...but I haven't spent every day on them...", Gabe says.

As we artists do, we take what we like, make it our own and push forward. The artwork of Gabe Weis could be described as Picasso meets Basquiat and Weis doesn't hide those influences. His cubist artwork is colorful, raw, vibrant, bold, and iconic and his hype extends beyond the boundaries of Twitter and the NFT space.

Please connect with Gabe and me (Jay Alders) on socials, share, subscribe, review, tag and do all that stuff that algorithms love please, we appreciate the love!

It's been an amazing journey throughout my first ever AMA (Ask Me Anything) episode and I couldn't be more thankful for the support from all of you.

As an artist, podcasting has been a great way to express my creative side and share my ideas with the world.

I'm so grateful to have had your help along the way, and I'm excited to see what the next AMA episode brings! With the help of my followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, I was able to make this last episode for 2022 something special.

So if you liked it, please show your support by sharing, tagging me, commenting and contributing questions for the next one!

In this #AMA episode I cover topics like:

  • Art Licensing, including how to get contacts and what is art licensing.
  • Tips for Artists looking to make a living from their artwork
  • Advice for self-employed creatives.
  • When to switch your side hustle into a full-time job. Some logical tips as well as some more risky approaches.
  • Music I love to listen to while painting and creating art.
  • Does 3D and sculpture translate into painting?
  • NFTs and Blockchain for Artists and collectors. Is there a future for NFTs? What are my thoughts on them?
  • What does my creative process look like?
  • How to tap into inspiration. Some practical tips from how I approach making artwork.
  • How to work on freelance art or commissioned pieces when you have a client or collector to please and it's not necessarily a subject matter you're into?
  • My regular artistic practice and how it is behind the scenes.
  • AI, especially how it pertains to art. Will AI ruin jobs for artists?
  • What else do I love to paint besides surfing and waves?
  • How to find a niche as an artist?
  • Family life while painting in my art studio.
  • And some fun random questions like the meaning of life.

Some more thoughts on the topics in this episode:

Art Licensing

Art Licensing is the process of obtaining the rights to reproduce a piece of artwork for commercial use. It involves securing permission from an artist or company to produce a specific item, such as a poster, book cover, or fabric design.

To get contacts and start art licensing, it is important to build relationships with artists, manufacturers, designers, and retailers. Networking with these industry professionals can help you find opportunities for art licensing.

3D and Sculpture and how they relate to painting

Yes, 3D art and sculpture can definitely translate into painting. In fact, many artists, include me use their understanding of form, perspective, and spatial relationships in 3D art to inform their 2D paintings.

For example, an artist who is skilled in sculpting may have a strong understanding of how to depict the human form in three dimensions, which can be helpful when creating a 2D portrait. Similarly, an artist who has experience with 3D art may have a good sense of how to use perspective and spatial relationships to create a sense of depth and volume in a painting.

Overall, the principles of 3D art, such as form, perspective, and spatial relationships, can be very useful in creating convincing and realistic paintings.

While painting and sculpture are different mediums, they both involve the use of form, composition, and visual elements to create a cohesive and visually appealing artwork.

I have studied both photography, 3D digital art and sculpture and having that background certainly has aided in my painting process.

Will AI take jobs from artists?

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to change the way that artists work and create, but it is unlikely to completely replace them entirely. While AI algorithms can be used to generate art or assist with the creative process, the final product will still require a human touch to ensure that it meets the standards of quality and creativity that are expected from professional artists.

Quickmer answer is that yes, it will have at least some negative impact on artists. However, it's unstoppable, so it's pointless to argue.

That said, there are already examples of AI being used in the art world, such as algorithms that can generate music or paintings based on certain inputs. However, these works are generally not considered to be on par with those created by human artists, and they are often used more as a tool or a starting point for human artists to build upon.

It is important to note that AI is not a replacement for human creativity and artistic expression. While it may be able to assist with certain aspects of the creative process, it cannot replicate the unique perspective and emotional depth that only a human artist can bring to their work.

Likely also is that AI will enable new genres and styles and act as a tool that could be debated to be good or bad. What do you think?

In this episode, I spoke with my friend of over 20 years, Barry Petersen.

Barry is an eclectic, talented, and hard-working dude who’s been nurturing his entrepreneurial spirit since he was a teenager. He shares his story with us and it’s one that you’ll find both inspiring, insightful, and relatable.

Depending on whom you speak to, those who know Barry could describe him in many ways. I don’t even know how I’d begin to describe him, but words like charismatic, entertaining, and smooth come to mind.

I said in this episode that Barry is someone who’s changed the most in the past twenty-plus years of knowing him, but he’s also someone who’s changed the least.

Barry is someone who is unapologetically and authentically…Barry.

For 25 years, he’s sold out concerts with his band, Barry and the Penetrators and he went on to found a popular brick and mortar cafe at the Jersey Shore. Barry had a line of surfboards, makes artwork and has a mural business with his fiancé Jill. Barry’s main business venture is Coffee Surf Co. which is sold in over 80 locations and has collaborated with Slightly Stoopid and myself.

Barry is a hustler. Not in a cheesy car salesman kinda way, but in the best sense of the word. He loves finding creativity in business and chasing sunrises, cold ocean plunges, and snowboarding and despite the rough times, he always comes out the other side of real challenges even stronger.

Let us know what you think about the episode and if you loved it, please subscribe and leave an honest review on Apple Podcasts or on whatever player you’re listening.

But also….

• The joys of fatherhood.
• A bi-coastal upbringing.
• Life lessons from business.
• The early days as a punk rocker and dreadlock reggae fan.
• Surf and skateboard lifestyle.
• His deep love of the Jersey Shore culture.
• Making music for the love of it.
• How he went from a lemonade stand sized coffee stand to scaling up his Coffee Surf empire.
• The art of the comeback.
• The mindset needed for success.

For most humans, being above average at one thing is enough to offer validation. For a handful of people, the idea of being in the top 10% at anything is a driving force powerful enough to motivate you for a lifetime. For the rare ones…the gifted few on the planet, being the best in the world is not only a dream, but a mission. In this episode, I spoke with 27 year old Renaissance woman, Dominyka Obelenyte who not only achieved World Champion status in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu once, twice or even seven times, but ten times. If you look up the “over achiever”, you might see a photo of Dom. She started grappling at the age of nine and by 19, she earned her black belt under the instruction of Jiu-Jitsu legend Marcelo Garcia. After High School, Dom studied visual art at Columbia University and is currently deeply focussed on developing her Jiu Jitsu legacy as well as launching a career as a Fine Artist. Most know Dominyka for her widely celebrated accomplishments in the world of BJJ, but in this episode I wanted to go a few layers deeper. Dominyka is a self-described Romanticist and admits “I often find myself trapped in moments of overthinking.” As a fellow artist, I deeply get that overthinking part. Being overly analytical is both a blessing and a curse for artists and as you’ll hear in this episode, there are more than a few mindset crossovers for Obelenyte. Dominyka’s artwork, like her personality consists of nuance and conflict, peace and angst, light-heartedness and self-reflection. A look into her body of work consists of detailed and intricate pieces intertwined with patterns and complex compositions as well as playful, mysterious and deep abstract elements. Let us know what you think about the episode and if you loved it, please subscribe and leave an honest review on Apple Podcasts or on whatever player you’re listening. But also…. • How Jiu Jitsu influences her Art…and vice versa. • Does creativity guide her grappling? • The backstory and evolvement of Dominyka’s Artwork. • The realities of making it as an artist. • The role of discipline and self-sacrifice. • How being tunnel visioned and sheltered gave Dom space and determination to make it. • Early childhood for Dominyka and how she’s grown as a person. • Self-expression in art and Jiu Jitsu. • Being in the moment and how the ego fits in. New Jersey native Colin Bell knows a thing or two about hustling as a musician.

We first met whilst Colin was the drummer for one of my favorite Reggae bands, Echo Movement (for whom I had my art on two of their studio albums).

Colin is a composer, instructor, and dad of two little boys, and has collaborated with the likes of Janina Gavankar, Questlove, and myself (Jay Alders).

Colin recently scored the upcoming biopic feature film “Bezos” directed by Khoa Le which chronicles the humble beginnings of Amazon and Jeff Bezos.

Please let me know what you think.

Artist Chris Dyer is a man who’s persona, mission, and brand are intertwined in the pursuits of truth, self-awareness, freedom of expression and elevated consciousness.

One could easily look at Chris’s life now as a world famous artist and think that he’s just one of the lucky ones. He has more success in a traditional sense of the word than most other creatives could dream of. And indeed he is. But that luck, like the rest of his life was largely by design.

Chris Dyer grew up in Lima, Peru where his life was influenced by skateboard, and surfing culture as well as his obsessive love of art and music. As he moved through his life experienced, he overcame substance abuse, violence, and self-doubt and became totally self-reliant.

Chris, as you’ll learn in this episode is a self-made man. He’s got a rare alchemy of right and left brain balance. He’s an anomaly in a lot of ways which makes his story that much more unique.

Dyer is both a free spirited, hippie dippy, free spirited, psychedelic taking, music festival going, wanderer as well as being an extremely analytical and hard working entrepreneur with both the intuition and experience to crush most everything he puts his mind to.

Chris has earned a growing following of hundreds of thousands of people around the world. He’s become recognized for his trippy, colorful, spiritually based and tribally influenced paintings and drawings. Dyer is also celebrated for his massive murals, street art, workshops and has a popular Podcast of his own.

Chris’s latest project, Galaktic Gang is a series of 5,555 NFT’s which has totally been totally killing it on OpenSea. At the time of this podcast, his NFT collection has had a sales volume of over 751 Ethereum. For you non-crypto people, that’s about $2 Million US Dollars by today’s ETH price.

If you’re an artist, entrepreneur, seeking your own path of spiritual truth or just a curious fan, you’ll love this episode.

Please let me know what you think.

Jason Chambers has always been an artist, but until NFT's entered his life he was working long hours at factory jobs and only doing art as his side passion.

Jason has explored various forms of art from illustration to portraiture, but his true passion has always been abstraction.

In early 2019 Jason transitioned fully into abstract art. His unique blend of shapes and lines create a realistic world of chaos as well as a sophisticated visual language.

His art is a way for him to sort through the craziness in this world. Jason’s individual style is influenced by cubism, surrealism, and abstract expressionism.

Over the past five months or so, his career has skyrocketed. Now, Jason's digital NFT artworks have soared in popularity on the NFT platform OpenSea beyond even his expectations.

At the time of writing this, his sales volume has reached 202 Ethereum. Which, again at the time of writing this is equivalent to more than $858,817.

UK-based Visual Artist Harry Pack has gained the kind of notoriety and success that most artists dream of.

His NFT Collection of trippy, surreal, and psychedelic art on OpenSea has skyrocketed him to success. In just months, he's earned worldwide recognition and heaps of Ethereum.

As we'll learn in this episode though, his recent accolades in the NFT space wasn't without sacrifice, disciplined hard work, and a lot of struggle along the way.

Harry was very open about his recovery and mental break which led him to near destruction. Were It not for the support of his mentors and support groups, he might not be where he is today with his art career.

Observing his behavior on Twitter even briefly and it's apparent that his hardships have left him with a sense of gratitude and humility and a commitment to help others with their dreams.

Harry's artwork is colorful, whimsical, trippy – and well, just really cool. However, his willingness to give of himself to others doesn't stop there.

For those who don't understand this whole NFT thing, there's plenty in this conversation that make it worth the listen.

And for all the rest of the #NFTCommunity, stick with it, there's a lot of juicy tips, insights, and talk about how Harry and I view the crypto art space and practical tips you can walk away with.

Brooklyn based fine artist Daniel Maidman’s drawings and paintings have been featured in The Huffington Post, and Forbes, and exhibited in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Long Beach Museum of Art.

Daniel's Instagram following at the time of writing this is over 124,000 people and it's well deserved. His mostly monochromatic figurative drawings of the human form are captivating and strike a delicate balance between highly labored renderings and minimalist linework.

In this episode, Daniel talks about what life is like as a working artist. We also talk about his signature style and how his love of previous generations of artists before him influenced his work.

We also got into the discipline of being a professional artist and the right and left brain connection of the entrepreneurial side of being an artist.

We even had a plot twist later in the episode when we learn that Daniel's work is heading to the moon. Like, literally...the Moon.

For most professional musicians, winning an Emmy Award and being Grammy-nominated would be the dream finish line of one’s career. But for David Nichtern it’s just another part of his journey.

David — rightfully so, seems to take pride in his ability to not be too attached to labels and ego based accolades, but by no means has that stopped him from achieving at levels most would envy.

Without giving away too much of his story, let’s assign some labels to him anyway. In no specific order, our guest today is an author, a senior Buddhist teacher, a CEO, a business consultant to clients such as Goldman Sachs. He’s a published composer, a producer, a professional guitarist. To add a little context, let me mention that David’s recorded and jammed with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Jerry Garcia, and Paul Simon and written songs for the soap opera “One Life To Live” and his song “Midnight At The Oasis” became a mainstream classic.

We got deep on this one. Really deep. We talked about some of my favorite topics including the importance of intention and awareness as spiritual beings, as well as creative process and life changing mile markers such as becoming a parent, making it as a and pivoting careers.

More About David

  • He was one of the original students of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche – a renowned Tibetan Buddhist meditation master who combined a contemporary, secular approach to meditation with the ancient practices and philosophies of Tibetan Buddhism.
  • At the apex of a diverse and prolific career, David has become the Founder and CEO of Dharma Moon – an online mindfulness-based education platform and global community. His team offers meditation training and meditation teacher training, life and career coaching, and creative and business incubation based on the principles from his most recent book and podcast, “Creativity,
  • Spirituality & Making A Buck,” (published in 2019 by Wisdom Publications). Dharma Moon has been established to help people integrate and balance their creative expression with their spiritual practice and livelihood.
  • David has been the Director of Karme Choling Meditation Center in Vermont, Director of Buddhist Studies and Practice at OM Yoga Center (NYC), and Director of the Dharmadhatu Meditation Center in Los Angeles. He has created and taught meditation teacher trainer programs for OM yoga, Empowered Yoga, Kaia Yoga, Metrowest Yoga, Samar asa Center (LA), True Nature Yoga (Tokyo), and Journey Meditation.
  • He has also been a business consultant with companies creating a variety of offerings integrating meditation in a larger health and well-being context – including Goldman Sachs, Balanced Athlete, and Journey Meditation, among many others.
  • David is also the writer of “Awakening From the Daydream: Re-imagining The Buddha’s Wheel of Life”, (released by Wisdom Publications in October, 2016). He has several online meditation workshops available through CreativeLive.com.
  • David records for and periodically tours with Grammy nominated kirtan performer Krishna Das.

New York-based Best Selling Author Daniel Paisner is recognized globally as one of the most sought-after ghostwriters, authors, and collaborators in the business.

Dan has evolved his craft to the point where people like Serena Williams, Ray Lewis, Daymond John, Denzel Washington, Steve Aoki, Bob Hurley, Izzy Paskowitz, Anthony Quinn, and John Kasich all have entrusted Dan to become their voice.

In this long-form conversation, Dan and I cover a lot of topics. Ranging from his early days as a class clown and how he became recognized for his writing and how his tenacity and ability to become one of the busiest collaborators in the Publishing world.

I pressed Dan for practical advice for writers and what it feels like to have a productive collaboration with some of the most successful and talented people on Earth and how he remains so damn humble and ego-free and he didn’t let down. We also talked about fatherhood and the creative process and our connection to surfing and a mutual friend connected us.

Whether you are an avid reader or a writer or just creatively curious, there are solid gold takeaways in this episode.

Burton LeBlanc is the head of the Makeup Department for the Emmy Award-winning show, The Handmaid’s Tale.

This show is single-handedly responsible for me having no fingernails left and Burton is the main guy that is responsible for the blood, gore, bruises, wounds, and perfectly groomed beards.

Burton talks candidly not only about his current role (which is a dream position that took him decades to earn), but we dive much deeper into his outlook on creativity and inspiration.

Particularly fascinating is how he is able to compartmentalize his very intense work with some truly gory scenes to keep his real life both mellow and spiritually balanced.

While Handmaid’s Tales fans won’t be let down by this behind the scenes perspective, Burton also talks more broadly about what it feels like to finally feel like he’s made it and how he stays grounded after being launched onto the red carpet with two Emmy Award nominations, a nomination for The Met Fashion Award and winning the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Award.

Burton and I would both love to know what you think about this conversation. Make sure to follow him on instagram.com/burtonleblanc as well as our show @shiftingperceptionspodcast and @JayAlders.

This conversation is a deep dive into creativity, artistic inspiration, and what it looks (and feels like) to dedicate yourself to your art.

We flipped the switch today for this episode. Artist, father, aspiring author, and serial entrepreneur Jay Alders is interviewed by fellow artist Tom Shepherd.

Jay Alders is a New Jersey shore based visual artist inspired by the beach, nature, ocean culture, romance, spirituality and surrealistic scenes from his mind's eye.

Alders' work has been seen around the world. From covers of magazines and on album art of music legends like Slightly Stoopid, Mishka and Echo Movement to TV appearances and on licensed products on shelves of your favorite stores.

Tom is based in Warwickshire, England. The birthplace of Shakespeare. He himself is a full-time artist that focuses on wildlife paintings and landscapes in watercolor and oil. And he spends a lot of time teaching and now on lockdown with his wife and new baby.

This interview was originally broadcast on Tom's own podcast, Creative Perspectives Podcast. But it was one of those magical conversations between artists worth sharing. So today, we bring it to you on Shifting Perceptions.

The dialogue floated between many topics that a creative person of any medium can relate to. We spoke about the grind and hustle of making it as an artist. And how the landscape of business has changed and evolved since the early days of social media. We talked about the challenges of finding time (and opportunity) as an artist and how to tap into flow states when creating art.

I talk about my personal philosophies and strategies around being a full-time artist and how purpose, intention, and having a mission are at the center of my mindset.

I really enjoyed having the roles reversed on this one. I hope you find this inspiring and entertaining as we both did.

Oregon based artist Erik Abel is highly recognized in the surf industry. His work is bold, geometric, and inspired largely by the Pacific Northwest and South Pacific and Central America and beach culture. His latest pursuit is abstraction and fatherhood.

I've known Erik for about a decade now. We've never actually met in person, but we've shared a camaraderie over the phone and internet. Erik's someone I consider a virtual colleague in a genre and industry that we both have common links to.

His original pieces have been featured in galleries across the country and abroad while his commercial work has attracted clients including Patagonia, Reef, REI and Billabong. Abel gives back to environmental and humanitarian projects through nonprofit partnerships, exhibitions, and commercial projects.

This conversation is one I've wanted to have for a long time now. We talked about inspiration, the hustle of the art world, navigating the business side with the artistic side and the challenges of balancing parenthood and entrepreneur-life.

No matter what your medium, if you're creative or working from home (which really, aren't we all right now?) you'll have something in this conversation to relate to.

From week four or lockdown, I bring you my fellow artist friend Erik Abel.

I had the pleasure of having a conversation with Artist and Designer Peter Robinson, better known around the world as “Ten Hundred” ).

He specializes in bright, colorful, imaginative character work which has been exhibited in iconic global art hubs as Seattle, Portland, Denver, Los Angele, Japan, and Brazil.

Ten Hundred pulls inspiration a wide variety of sources such as cartoons and anime, street art and graffiti, childlike imagination, comics, world cultures, religions, and folklore.

Ten Hundred is not only an accomplished and sought after street mural artist, but his commercial demand is growing with a client list thet includes Amazon, Nordstrom, Converse, Jet Blue, Lenscrafters, and Monster

I first stumbled upon Peter’s work on YouTube where he publishes art tutorials and documents his travels and his very diverse art career to his over 280,000 subscribers. With some of his videos getting close to 5 million views, it’s clear that this artist has some things really dialed in.

We didn’t just talk about art and process in this interview. Peter tells us about getting over drug addiction and hitting rock bottom. We talked about what it takes to make it in the arts and what hustling really looks like. "Ten Hun" walks us through his early days as a musician and working at Guitar Center and how he re-invented himself into a globally recognized artist, teacher and successful YouTuber.

I hope you love this in-depth interview with Artist and Designer, Ten Hundred.

As his online bio reads Chris, makes music with a guitar and lots of pedals. Chris is an accomplished soloist, studio musician and composer and has performed and/or recorded with the likes of Dweezil Zappa, Snarky Puppy, and Karsh Kale.

He’s authored eight books, 40 guitar courses and has taught guitarists from all over the world through Berklee College of Music, TrueFire, Guitar Player, Guitar One, Just Jazz Guitar, Hal Leonard, Alfred, Course Technology & Guitarinstructor.com.

On a personal note, Chris is a long-time friend of ours for many years and you can hear it in the Jersey style sarcasm and wise cracks between us.

This conversation isn’t just for Guitar geeks though. We talk about networking, marketing, the importance of self-promotion and good old fashion hustling. Chris is also the ultimate “slash”, which we’ll get into later. While on the topic of Slashes, we also reminisce about how Chris, Jay and the former guitarist for Guns N Roses (No, the other one), Bumblefoot shared laughs & Thai food during a photoshoot at Jay’s old beach house in Belmar.

This conversation with Chris Buono is a good one and we hope you walk away motivated, inspired & entertained.

Ruby Roth is an acclaimed activist, artist, former teacher, and author whose children’s books have been featured in The Huffington Post, Change.org, and Glamour. A passionate advocate for creating a more sustainable world, Ruby has taken her vegan food philosophy to major media outlets such as The Today Show, FOX, ABC, and CNN — and as a plant-based family ourselves, we couldn’t be more grateful for her work.

Ruby has been vegan since 2003, and she first discovered children’s interest in veganism while teaching art at an elementary school. This inspired her to write her book, “That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals” in 2009. “That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals” was the first non-fiction book of its kind and addresses issues such as factory farming and the effect that meat-eating has on the environment.

Most importantly, “That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals explains the emotional lives of animals and gives families an opportunity to sit down and open up a dialogue about sustainable living.

Since the runaway success of “That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals” Ruby has created five more beautifully illustrated children’s books, including; Vegan Is Love, V Is for Vegan, The Help Yourself Cookbook for Kids and the soon to be released, Bad Day. We love this collection of books, not only because it has helped countless parents educate and encourage their children to find a holistic approach to healthy living, but also because it stresses the power of good habits and their ability to change the world for the better.

We got to chat to Ruby about how growing up in a family of holocaust survivors influenced her childhood, what made her want to create such an illuminating series of children’s books, and how she manages the inevitable artistic blocks that all creatives face.

The Lasting Effects of Familial Trauma Ruby grew up in a family of Jewish holocaust survivors, and she was candid with us about how this shaped her childhood. As someone who’s grandparents were also holocaust survivors, I can relate to Ruby’s experience. We shared with each other how our families history permeated our psyche as children, from being proud of our collective resilience to having a deep-seated fear of loss and suffering.

“There’s a little bit of an undercurrent, and I wouldn’t know otherwise, where it came from, that things could get taken away, or that something bad could happen. You know, there are studies now in, in the field of neuroscience that shows how fear is passed down through generations — even if the children didn’t experience the cause of the fear.”

The Importance of Overcoming Resistance Almost every artist at some point experiences a creative block, it’s just part of the process, and can be difficult to navigate out of without conscious effort. Ruby explained to us that she views this resistance and lack of inspiration as something to overcome. One tool she uses to help her stay on track of her “resistance” is to create lists of tasks she needs to complete and to simply remind herself that she is only one person, and there is only so much she can achieve each day.

“There is constant resistance always, in me. And I think in every artist’s and creative mind, that is always something that I am overcoming all the time, sometimes it’s every day, sometimes multiple times a day. “

All You Can Do Is Try Does anyone truly have everything in life figured out? Whether you’re a creative pinpointing your ideal medium and niche, or a parent helping your kids to navigate childhood, most of us are just trying our best. Ruby explained to us the importance of experimenting with your business model and putting yourself out there — even if you aren’t sure what the end result might be.

“We are all trying, nobody knows. Even the even top-level people are still experimenting, and aren’t sure what’s going to work and what isn’t. And I often tell myself, you haven’t even begun to try. You know, when I’m feeling down or whatever, there are so many things to try and so many avenues to explore that we really cannot let ourselves go down any hole of like, ‘Oh, it’s not working. It’s not working.’ — You haven’t even tried, you know?”

Kara Goldin is a force to be reckoned with. An insanely successful entrepreneur, she is on a mission to improve the health of millions. We spoke to her about her early influences, what fuels her passion for healthy living, and how she stays motivated to inspire herself, and others.

Kara is the CEO and founder of the healthy lifestyle brand, Hint, Inc., based in San Francisco. Their products include fruit infused carbonated beverages that are free of artificial sweeteners and preservatives, naturally infused caffeine-based drinks, and a scented sunscreen spray that is oxybenzone and paraben-free.

Throughout her career, Kara has won numerous awards for her contributions to society and her business acumen. Named as one of Fortune's Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs, as well as one of Forbes' 40 Women to Watch Over 40, Kara is a trailblazing innovator who proves that women can, and will, do it all.

This awesomely insightful hour-long episode takes a deep dive into how Kara stumbled upon the benefits of healthy living, the challenges of juggling family life in the world of business, and the importance of both personal and professional growth.

Here are our favorite takeaways from wildly successful entrepreneur and all-around business guru Kara Goldin.

Healthy Perception VS Healthy Reality When Kara decided to develop Hint water, she was inspired by her own journey of trying to be a committed H2O drinker. After gaining a wonderful new baby, and a not so wonderful new diet soda habit, Kara realized that her weight was creeping up and her energy levels were severely lacking. On a mission to kick the coke and up her water intake, she committed herself to drink more water. But, like most people, Kara found drinking water became a chore. So she did what any brilliant business innovator would — she solved the problem.

After realizing that adding fruit to her water made it much more palatable, she set about trying to find a product that was similar. Unfortunately, all that she could locate in her local grocery store were pseudo health drinks, with more sugar than most soft drinks contained. Armed with this information, and a desire to provide consumers with a healthy alternative, Kara set about developing a shelf-stable beverage that contained no sweeteners and no artificial preservatives. Cue the birth of Hint.

Start From The Beginning A common theme throughout our discussion with Kara was that she's not afraid of diving into something new — because the fun is in the learning process. A self-confessed "scrappy" businesswoman, Kara explained to us the importance of jumping into a venture and educating yourself along the way.

When we asked Kara what significant lessons she had learned from being an entrepreneur, she told us that "Passion trumps experience," which really resonates with us as creatives. Almost every guest we chat to on this podcast has a passion for, and commitment, to what they do; it's not a coincidence; it's a correlation.

"I learned along the way that passion trumps experience any day. And curiosity is another one that's the key. If you can get somebody who just really loves what you're doing and emotionally excited about it, and curious, that's definitely something that is much more important."

Don't Put All Of Your Eggs In One Basket. Kara shared with us the importance of diversification as an entrepreneur, and how she almost learned that lesson the hard way.

After earning a lucrative deal to have her beverage stocked in Starbucks, Kara received a phone call 18 months into the contract letting her know that Starbucks had decided to go into a different, more profitable, direction. Rather than dwell on the temporary loss, Kara used the disappointment as fuel to help diversify Hint's business model. This quick thinking helped Hint to develop a new business relationship with Amazon's grocery delivery arm, and they quickly became one of Amazon's top-selling products.

"I always tell entrepreneurs to have a quick celebration about that victory, but then figure out how do you actually diversify, you know, so that you've got a lot more like victories and not just be trying to figure out how to make that one account, keep going."

Kara is a genuinely passionate and dedicated advocate for safe and clean products. We love how much she stressed the importance of consumer education, and the responsibility of companies to be totally transparent about their products and what they contain. Even with the best will in the world, it can be challenging to decipher past snazzy marketing gimmicks and pseudo-health marketing, so we appreciate companies like Hint, Inc., who care about their consumer and are socially conscious — not just profit-driven.

Todd "Speech" Thomas made his name in the lates 1980s as one of the pioneers of a socially conscious hip-hop movement with his group Arrested Development that he founded in 1988 — an alternative sound to the gangster rap that was permeating the African American music scene at the time.

Their debut album "3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of..." went four-times Platinum in the U.S., and the title refers to the length of time it took Arrested Development to get a record contract. Hailed by critics as being a trailblazer of afro-centric positivity, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of... won two Grammy awards and was included in a list of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

One of our favorite stories that Speech shared with us involves Spike Lee...yes, Spike Lee! Just a few months after the release of their debut album, he was tapped on the shoulder by the legendary film director and asked to compose a song for his upcoming biopic based on the life of Malcolm X. This chance encounter spawned the song Revolution", which was a focal point of the film's soundtrack when it was released in 1992.

Never wavering in his social activism and message of unity over the past 30 years, in the 2018 documentary, "16 Bars," Speech helped to mentor and guide four musical artists in the prison system — winning best documentary at the Downtown L.A. Film Festival in the process.

We talked to Speech about coming of age in Milwaukee and how his childhood molded his view of the world. From racism to gang crime and the suicide of a close friend, Speech has experienced many personal challenges, yet his positivity still endures. We are insanely stoked to present you with an episode that is as inspirational as the man himself.

Drew Duboff is a growth strategist, outsourcing expert, and founder of "Start Scaling Successfully."

An insanely insightful SEO guru, Drew discussed with us the importance of working smarter, not harder, and gave us some awesome tips on how to make Google’s algorithm works for you.

A fun (and serendipitous!), fact about Drew, is that his very first blogger clients were previous podcast guest, Alex Nerney, and Lauren McManus. Alex and Lauren run several insanely successful blogs (including Create & Go and Avocadu) and earn six-figures — per month! If that's not a testament to Drew's work, we’re not sure what is! We recently interviewed Alex and asked him about his meteoric rise to blogger royalty status. If you want to hear the full conversation — if you’re a blogger you absolutely should! — you can find it here.

One of the most poignant points that Drew shared is that after deciding to launch his business, it took five months of marketing and building his reputation before he landed his first freelance client. His dedication to his goals, as well as his refusal to give up, is impressive — especially in a world where instant success and reward is frequently expected.

Drew also shared with us tips for entrepreneurs who want to build their businesses, such as employing reliable and consistent freelancers who are easy to work with. This not only reduces the workload but also gives business owners a chance to focus on the tasks that generate them the most ROI.

This is a whole 40 minutes jam-packed with sage (and applicable!) advice for freelancers and entrepreneurs on smart ways to scale your business, increase your website traffic and maximize profits!

We had the honor of sitting down with 50-year surfing veteran & close friend Vince Troniec a couple of weeks ago...on his 69th birthday no less! We talked about surfing in the early days of Asbury Park, mindsets of surfing and what it was like being friends with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

This interview is special to us, as Vince is one of our closest family friends and a total local legend on the Jersey Shore. We have found every late night or oceanside chat with Vince to be one of the best talks we have ever had and felt it was about time we share him.

Vince started competing in surf competitions at an early age, and by age 17, he was invited to participate in the World Trials in Puerto Rico.

In 1968 the Vietnam war was being fought, and Vince had just lost his father. Going out on a limb, he relocated his mother and sister to Newport Beach, California, hoping that it would improve his mother's health issues. Thus ensued a wildly fun time spent in pre-Woodstock and hippy centric, 1960's California.

Vince paints a vivid picture for us of a time when surfing culture was in its infancy, and the likes of Janice Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin were making musical history — and he even has the concert ticket stubs to prove it.

From watching Asbury park grow into the hipster enclave it is today, to being one of the first people to stock Quiksilver in his surf store, Vince has a colorful and storied past, but is also an extraordinarily down-to-earth and impressively humble human.

He shared with us his early venture of owning a lucrative surf shop and how he has been fortunate enough to make a career out of his favorite thing to do — ride the waves.

So sit back, get comfortable, and prepare to visualize the history of surfing in all of its glory, told through the eyes of the incredibly passionate and insanely talented surf legend, Vince Troniec.

This week we sat down with professional climbing and bouldering champion Sierra Blair-Coyle, whose passion for the sport would inspire almost anyone to want to hit their local climbing wall.

As a family who loves to climb together, when Sierra told us that she loved rock climbing from the moment she tried it, it completely resonated with us.

The daughter of a gymnastics coach, Sierra tried gymnastics and karate herself, before she discovered climbing at the age of eight. Competing professionally ever since, Sierra achieved status as a professional climber at age 14.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable things about Sierra is her dedication to the sport, and her hunger to be the best that she can be. A World Cup Competitor since 2010, Sierra has also claimed the title of National Champion twice as a junior competitor.

Feeling truly blessed to be able to do what she loves, travel the world and earn a living from it, we chatted about her aspirations as an athlete, her plans for the future and what she hopes to accomplish.

Keep reading for some of our favorite insights from one of the most kick-ass women we've had the pleasure of talking to.

When You Know... You Know Sometimes you experience something for the first time, and it feels like it's feeding your soul. Sierra explained to us that she found her passion when she first tried out climbing because she thrived off the challenge it presented. Completely undeterred by the physicality and self-discipline it requires, climbing gave Sierra with an opportunity to prove to herself that she is capable of achieving whatever she sets her mind to.

"I tried other sports when I was younger, like gymnastics and karate, and what happened is that when it would get hard, or I had to work harder or put more effort in, I would quit — because I was a kid and wanted it to be easy. But there was something about climbing, when it got hard I wanted to keep doing it. I was pretty much all in from the beginning."

Follow Your Passion — and Always Have a Plan B Determined from a young age to be a professional climber, Sierra did all that she could to make her dream a reality. However, her pragmatic attitude toward hard work and discipline isn't only applicable to climbing. In 2016 she graduated with a degree in marketing from Arizona State University and explained to us that although climbing is her love and career, it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan.

"I always wanted to be a professional climber once I started, but honestly, even if I were in any other sport, I would want to be professional at that. I knew I wanted to do something great. As far as going to university, it was definitely a backup plan, because in climbing you're not making crazy money, I make a living, but nothing to retire on at this point, so it's just good to have that."

If It Feels Good, Do It Sierra's can-do attitude is infectious, and as the parents of a totally fearless daughter, we love how much of an energetic and motivating role model she is — for women of all ages.

"When I was a kid I was pretty much down for anything, I was definitely a tomboy, but then I also had more Barbies than I could even count, so I don't think my parents were super surprised when I started climbing. I was just having fun at it. I really enjoy doing something where I can push myself and achieve things, and I don't know what it was about it, but something about it just felt right to me."

If you would like to hear our full conversation with the insanely inspiring Sierra Blair-Coyle, you can listen along on our podcast – but don't be surprised if you get bit by the climbing bug!

Leave Us A Review This week we sat down with Marc Bell, whose innovative and fearless approach to life has led him to massive entrepreneurial successes.

Founding his first company, Globix, at the age of 21, today, his firm has investments across more than 160 companies.

We chatted to Marc about his early fascination with computers, how ADD impacted his schooling and why he started his working career as a janitor.

So, how does a man who doesn't really have an interest in Broadway become one of Broadway's most successful producers and the winner of multipleTony Awards? Marc's warmth and self-deprecating humor emanate when he explains to us that through all of his successes, he has also encountered some stumbling blocks along the way.

Ever humble and full of gratitude, Marc and his wife are actively involved in many philanthropic causes, and even welcomed over 70 foster children into their home, after they were displaced by Hurricane Irma.

Over the course of 72 hours, Marc and his neighbors served 800 meals, did 36 loads of laundry, arranged for over 80 much-needed baths and showers, as well as finding the time to celebrate four birthdays and a visit from the tooth fairy.

This story of selfless giving is genuinely inspiring and describes just one aspect of the multifaceted and wonderfully kind man behind some of the most innovative companies in the world.

Our Key Takeaways From Entrepreneur & Business Mogul Marc Bell

If There Is a Better Way to do Something... Do it Marc's revealed to us that during his earliest ventures, it wasn't all smooth sailing. After losing over $100,000 worth of equipment due to an AC malfunction, Marc realized that rather than relying on another business to host his servers, he could build his own data center — with a better network.

This early innovation and out-of-the-box thinking led Marc's newly formed company, PFM Communications, to land a contract with Microsoft — eventually driving over half of the Fortune 50 companies, operating at the time, to host with PFM Communications.

"As a kid, I didn't really grasp the magnitude of what I was building, I was very focussed on what I was doing every day, and didn't focus on the significance of some of the stuff we created."

Treat Everyone With Respect At one point, Marc's company employed more than 1000 people in New York City. He shared with us a funny and heartwarming story about the time he applied his own janitorial experience, to show a newly employed janitor in his office how to clean the toilets.

Noticing the staff member struggling in the bathroom, Marc proceeded to get onto his hands and knees and demonstrate to correct way to clean a toilet to the employee — cue three senior executives of the company entering the bathroom and looking down at their boss entirely perplexed — to which point he responded;

"Guys, we're all the same. We're all made the same, we all put our pants on the same way, we all eat the same way, we're all the same. It doesn't matter where we come from, or what opportunities we had or didn't have in life — we're all the same."

Work Ethic Is the Key Marc Bell's personality is as tenacious as his business acumen. We loved hearing him passionately discuss the importance of work ethic and being resilient when building your dreams.

Although a lot of entrepreneurs preach the importance of taking time away from work when needed, Marc told us about his 120-hour week work habit, and why taking time off from work doesn't serve him.

"Some people have hobbies. I don't have any hobbies. I work — that's my hobby, that's my passion, and I like what I do. So I can't complain."

We are completely enamored with Marc's selfless outlook on life and passion for helping children and youths to reach their full potential. As Marc puts it, "These kids are our future. They will be doctors, lawyers, scientists, you name it. But they will only get there with our help."

Listen to the whole fascinating conversation, and to find out how some of Jay's early artwork ended up on display in Marc’s house (this is a fun story!)

Suzanne Tucker is a powerhouse of positivity and nurturing energy. We had the joy of sitting down with her this week to discuss the wonders — and curveballs — that being a parent can bring.

The founder of Generation Mindful and the "Time-In ToolKit," an engaging collection of illustrations and games, Suzanne Tucker is dedicating her life to teaching children (and their parents!) how to acknowledge and express their emotions and behaviors.

A mom of four, physical therapist, and parent educator since 1992, Suzanne has been teaching gentle parenting and children's mindfulness classes for over two decades.

In 2016, after being inspired to find a solution for one of the parents in her positive parenting classes, Suzanne founded Generation Mindful, a social-mission driven company creating children's educational tools, toys, and programs that connect the generations and build emotional intelligence playfully.

Suzanne shares with us her optimism and belief that everyone can be a wonderful parent - and that it's totally okay (and actually pretty awesome) not to be perfect.

Passionate about giving parents the tools and understanding to enable them to practice connecting with their children — rather than feeling helpless and overwhelmed — Suzanne is a wealth of knowledge regarding human emotions and motivations.

Read on to hear some of our favorite takeaways from this super insightful chat.

Perfection is Stifling One of the most refreshing revelations Suzanne shared with us is that it's okay not to be perfect. As parents, we want to do the best for our kids and can sometimes feel disheartened if we don't meet the impossible standards we set for ourselves.

Suzanne explained that although a natural human emotion, chastising ourselves for not attaining 'perfection' is unrealistic — and that even chasing the bar of perfection can be detrimental.

"As conscious parents, we're not looking for perfect, we're looking for present, and I like to think of the word mindfulness as present in the moment, with joy and ease."

Emotions Are Okay (And Encouraged) Emotional intelligence is one of the greatest skills that you can help your child to master. Suzanne explained to us that encouraging your children to express their feelings, and their frustrations can have a calming and positive effect on your household.

According to Suzanne, when families become aware of their feelings, and in the process take ownership of them, they empower themselves to become more connected with each other.

"I think I was the keeper of my own prison because it was never overtly said that I can't express — that was modeled from my parents. We as human beings model, we model what we see. We have this beautiful thing called 'mirror neurons' where we literally mirror what is around us. So even though it was not overtly said, had I challenged this concept I was picking up on of 'happy happy happy' — I'm sure that my parents would have met it with curiosity, and maybe displeasure — but we would have gotten to the other side of it."

Launch The Bigger Picture We asked Suzanne what advice she had for fellow entrepreneurs who have a vision but aren't sure how to execute it.

"I think where the faith and trust that I was creating something of value came from was listening to pain points in my community here locally and thinking, 'I have an answer for that.' So for entrepreneurs out there, I would say instead of just being inspired to make something, I would say to really look at the problem and look at what you're creating as a solution."

This really resonated with us, because it truly encompasses what Suzanne and Generation Mindful are about - creating solutions that enrich families lives and enable them to live more mindfully.

If you would like to hear more of our conversation with Suzanne and the awesome work that Generation Mindful is doing with families, click the link to our podcast.

Leave Us A Review Chet Zar has garnered a legion of international fans and art collectors from his fine art paintings of dark and surreal creatures. We sat down with him this week to find out what his inspiration is behind his 'monster' art, and how he keeps such a positive attitude while immersed in a world that many people would be fearful of.

Starting his career in the film industry, Chet's talent for creating Hollywood special effects lead him to work on major Hollywood productions such as The Ring, Hellboy 1 and 2, Planet Of The Apes and critically acclaimed music videos for the band Tool.

Disillusioned with the politics and artistic compromises he felt he was having to make in his career, at age 33 Chet left the movie industry behind — to follow his bliss.

Chet is quite possibly one of the most philosophical and empathetic people that we have had the pleasure to chat with. An incredibly emotive artist, there is something extraordinary in the way that he uses his artistic outlet to work through emotional trauma.

Rather than shying away from societal fears, Chet's art shines a light on them — showing people that they're not alone in their fears and anxieties.

We talk about how an acid trip in a meat market caused him to have a vegan epiphany, as well as him trying (and failing) as a child, to terrify his mom with elaborate fake injuries. Chet gives us an illuminating look at the life experiences that have molded his dark — but beautiful — outlook on life.

Inspirational Takeaways from Our Conversation with Dark Art Creator Chet Zar Shining a Light on Fear Chet is a master at creating art that highlights humanities inner psyche and neuroticism. As multifaceted beings, we all have both dark and light aspects of our character. From an early age, we are told by society that darkness is something we should suppress — but at what cost?

Chet's art challenges the assumption that darkness is a negative outlet.

"The worst thing that you can do, I think, is not acknowledging your shadow side or fear and keeping that hidden — keep that fear pushed down. That's when it creates problems — when you try to deny that this side exists inside of you."

Patreon - The Artist's Peace of Mind Chet shared with us how using Patreon to help fund his art has allowed him the freedom to create and share with his fans in an organic way. He also stressed the need to build up a strong online following and the importance of offering value to your followers.

Choosing to put his money where his mouth is, Chet supports around 70 other artists on the Patreon platform.

"Patreon is whatever you make it. Some people have a Patreon with a tip jar, that's it — no tiers, no levels, they just say 'pay what you want.' And some people make that work. Some people say a dollar only, some people five dollars and up. And that's what kind of cool about it because you can do things that have never been done before — it’s all up to your creativity and how you market."

Preventing Burnout From creating art to hosting his podcast 'The Dark Arts Society,' Chet is relentless in his artistic pursuits. He explained to us that when he feels physically exhausted and emotionally drained, he allows himself a day or so to recuperate.

"What I usually do is I work too hard, I go too long, and then I get to a point where my body says, "Okay, you have to stop." And then I just take a day or two off and watch movies on Netflix or something."

Losing Your Ego Chet's passion for his art is so inspiring. He shared with us how important it is for him to lose his own ego during the creative process.

"I feel like whatever is painting, which is this weird subconscious part of my mind, it will do a better job than my conscious, intelligent part will do. It's better than I am at art and creating meaning."

Taking inspiration from the process of his childhood drawing, Chet strives to stay true to this purity and spirit when creating his art as an adult.

Learn the Fundamentals of Art Understanding the technical aspects of painting is an important skill to master to express your ideas effectively. Chet chatted to us about how he encourages other artists to build upon their fundamental knowledge of art, such as composition and understanding color and lighting — especially when distorting reality.

"Color temperature is so powerful. When you start throwing in different temperatures of the same colors, it makes the piece come alive."

Chet expresses himself and his art in such a way that it's impossible not to acknowledge the beauty of our own vulnerability.

Alex Nerney, along with his partner Lauren McManus, attract over 250,000 visitors & six-figure incomes from their blogs every month.

We sat down with him this week to find out what the catalyst was for him to give up a thriving personal training career to transition to full-time blogging.

Alex embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship. Sharp, witty, and most importantly, creative, he has harnessed his passions and skills to turn blogging into a six-figure monthly income.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Alex is his passion for teaching other people how to succeed. Rather than carefully guarding his success, he is an open book full of tips, tricks, and advice on ways that you can work smarter - not harder.

We talked about how managing your expectations is everything and the reality that most people aren't overnight successes.

From trading hours for dollars, to accidentally shooting what looked like soft porn during his first blog attempt, Alex takes us on his hilarious and very human journey of putting himself out there and learning something new.

Although Alex is careful to acknowledge that there is no surefire way to success, his optimism is infectious, and his work ethic is admirable.

Key Takeaways Seize Opportunities

Alex took a leap of faith into the world of blogging. After being invited to The Millionaire Fastlane Conference, he met other entrepreneurs and heard their success stories. This inspired him to create a scalable income and build his own dream - instead of someone else's.

From that moment, Alex began figuring out ways that he could monetize his interests, while also offering value to other people.

Not Everything You Touch Will Turn To Gold (without a plan!)

Alex's first foray into the world of blogging was not an instant success. The aptly named 'Health and Happy Hour' consisted of him and his buddy, sitting around at his dad's house, drinking and writing.

Health and Happy Hour served as a learning curve for Alex. As he puts it, "We learned very quickly that the thing that we think is awesome, doesn't mean that everyone else thinks it's awesome."

Understanding the need for a strategic marketing plan, Alex focussed on creating a definitive target demographic - which leads us to our next important takeaway.

Develop An Avatar

Alex stresses the importance of creating an avatar of your potential customer, and really getting to know who they are. He believes that this shift in his mindset allowed him to really up his blogging game.

When you create content, Alex recommends that you always ask questions through the eyes of your avatar during the process.

  • Would the content you're creating resonate with them?
  • Does it add value to their life?

If you can answer these questions in the affirmative, it's likely that you will connect with your target person.

The 'Poop' Phase is Okay

One of our favorite takeaways from our chat with Alex (besides the penis jokes) were his views on starting out at something new. We all know that initial stage - where your expectations are not mirrored by your results and everything you put out there seems to be 'poop.'

Alex explained to us that this is a necessary part of the growth process, whether you're blogging, learning an instrument, or playing a new sport. As you navigate through the poop stage and develop your skills, you will continue to get better and be more successful. These growing pains won't last forever, but they are an essential step in honing your craft.

Variety is The Spice of Life

If your passion is waning, it can be difficult to continue creating consistent content. Alex mitigates this by developing different outlets that he can focus on. From the insanely successful educational business Create & Go, to his more creative outlet WANDR, a travel vlog, he emphasizes the need to keep following ideas that fuel your fire.

I like working on the projects that I'm working on - And the ones that I don't, I'm getting much better at delegating to other people. Then every day is my own.”

Monetize Your Skill Set

Alex shared with us his recommended ways of making money from blogging - even if you don't have a product to sell. From utilizing ads and sponsored posts on your site, to aligning yourself with an amazon associates account, there are multiple ways that you can create streams of income from your blog.

Once you feel confident enough to educate others and create your own product or service, you can scale your business even further. As explained by Alex, "80% of (our earned) $100k a month happens through the process of someone reading a post, opting in for an email, and then getting sold a product."

They are some wild figures to wrap your head around!

Alex is truly an impressive business person. We learned so much from our chat with him and will absolutely be using some of the tips he shared with us!

If you want to hear more from our conversation with Alex (he's hilarious so we suggest you do!), you can click the link to our podcast and laugh along with us.

This weeks episode is with Asbury Park’s Golden Girl, Marilyn Schlossbach.

Many New Jersey and New York Locals already know Marilyn as the Queen Chef and co-owner of Langosta Lounge, Pop’s Garage, Labrador Lounge, and Asbury Park Yacht Club OR you may know about her because of her Asbury Park Political Run, her deep roots on the Jersey shore and developing our very eclectic food scene.

However, we are going on a decade of seeing Marilyn's entrepreneurial career grow and the first thing that comes to mind for us is her charitable side.

Marilyn’s community work in Asbury Park is enough to make anyone feel like it’s time to get off your butt…Like how many people did you help today? Her answer every day is hundreds!

Her current collaborations include Asbury Park’s Kula Café and Urban Farm, community gardening and surf lessons with the Boys and Girls Club of Asbury Park, and unwavering support of environmental organizations like Clean Ocean Action, Surfrider Foundation, American Littoral Society and Waves For Water that work to protect coastlines and marine environments.

Marilyn lets us go all the way in on this exclusive interview, we hear the downfalls and difficulties of being a restaurant owner, the parts that almost destroyed her and the major shifts that brought her businesses back to life.

This interview is honest, almost brutally so and gives us all a better picture of what it can look like when your talents and work collide.

Someday, we hope to see Marilyn running an ocean side garden restaurant in Nicaragua and we will come back to this interview and see the seeds were planted.

Matt Grundy plays bass, rhythm guitar, harmonica, and sings backing vocals and for professional surfer turned rock star Donavon Frankenreiter.

In this very unfiltered conversation, shares the highs and lows of parenting, the sacrifices that go into building a career in music, and life after being swallowed whole and spit out by addiction.

Contrary to popular belief, musicians and artists aren’t always hungry for fame. We are fortunate for souls like Matt who really couldn’t care less about where he was or how much he was making - all he needs is the music.

This interview is a really special one for us. Not only are we huge fans of Matt but over the past 10-12 years, he has become a dear friend and is someone that we have literally been around the Earth and back with.

Grundy is one of those gentle giants that you cannot help but fall in love with. We always meet in the middle on topics like jazz, poetry, Sam Harris and self-awareness...but realizing that he’s also a ridiculous musician on top of the rest is motivating and humbling.

We think that if you asked Grundy he would say he is just along for the ride...but when you hear all he has on his mind and all he is up to, you quickly realize that he is far more than a backup musician.

“I couldn’t be getting hammered and then waking up at 3 in the morning changing diapers. There’s just no way. I had to make this happen and I wanted to -- It’s not like it was hard, because I had this little
angel to take care of and it was amazing.” -Matt Grundy

“When you first start playing music, you’re lucky to even scrape together 250 bucks a week. For me, I didn’t care about the lack of security in it. I was willing to live in my car forever if it meant I was going to be able to play the guitar. It didn’t sound like something that was okay -- it sounded favorable to me”. -Matt Grundy

This week we had the pleasure of getting lost in the woods with two of the most colorful souls we’ve had the great fortune of befriending; seasoned RV podcasters, bloggers, and authors Jeremy and Stephanie Puglisi.

In the riveting interview, we were able to sit down with two crazy-passionate and multi-faceted people stripped of all inhibitions.

They say it like it is when it comes down to parenting, childhood, life on the campground, and how they were able to grapple with the hardships of parenting while making a living and doing what they loved - all in that order.

Contrary to popular belief, bloggers and podcasters alike don’t always start off thirsty for monetization. The Puglisi couple’s output was spun from a genuine place; as both were writers and adventurers at heart, even writing poetry from as early as high school.

Both Stephanie and Jeremy have a background in education and a fierce love for their family and they want to share the peace the campground brings to their soul. They’re on a mission to share with the world just how humbling and soulful life on the road can be.

This week we got to chat with professional competitive surfer and big wave charger Torrey Meister.

In this interview, we took the opportunity to ask all the questions you would want to ask a big wave surfer, such as:

  • What is on your mind right before you drop in?
  • Do you ever hesitate?
  • Do you worry about dying?
  • Do you worry about sharks?
  • How did you find the courage to go back after some of your major injuries?

We met Torrey this past summer when he came by our house with our favorite Sanuk rep Adam Walker.

We didn’t know who he was at the time but we adored his quiet demeanor, and most of all, the way he treated our kids. They played magnet blocks for an hour and our three year old twin boys taught him how to smash things.

Later that same night we went to an event to watch a surf film that he was in, and it was a strange moment realizing this guy charging Pipeline and JAWS was the same guy that had been playing toys and talking about his family in my living room.

In this interview, our goal was to put together the pieces of a big wave surfers mentality.

How can you be a religious and humble family man but also charge 60-foot waves?

We needed to bridge the gap.

Torrey is humble, loving, one of a kind and I hope we got to all the questions you would want to ask a big wave surfer!

This week we went on a serious trip with Holly Harman who is the Associate Director for Grof Transpersonal Training aka the originators of Holotropic Breathwork.

In this interview, we learned a lot about what Holotropic Breathwork can do and what the process really looks and feels like.

So, what is Holotropic breath work?

According to the Holotropic website, “it is a powerful approach to self-exploration and personal empowerment that relies on our innate inner wisdom and its capacity to move us toward positive transformation and wholeness.

Tell me more about Holotropic Breathwork

This modality originated from a deep curiosity about the psychedelic experience which led founder Stanislav Grof to scientific studies on the subject.

Holotropic Breathwork mimics some of the emotional, mental and physical responses to psychedelics without the need for external substances introduced into the body.

What are the Benefits?

Personal transformation happens during these sessions. The benefits extend beyond just the biographical dimension. We can re-connect with and heal past trauma from our birth up to the present moment.

If you suffer from anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, or just want a deeper look into your psyche and mind-body connection, Holotropic Breathwork may be what you've been looking for.

We have been by enamored by Paula Fuga's passion and love for music since the moment we met her 11 years ago.

In this interview Paula walks us through those first moments as a three year old singing in the car to living homeless on the beach in Hawaii.

Paula's story is filled with twists and turns and the one thing you learn as you listen is that she truly was always meant to be a singer and performer. Her voice is just the beginning of her magic.

Stop what you are doing and pay attention to this one…Paula's poetry is breathtaking. She holds a belief that she is 'of the stars' and a 'star child'. She lives knowing that she was meant to change this world for the better...and holy moly, that voice of hers.

Paula is a natural story teller and we probably could have chatted for hours. We loved learning about the steps it took to get her to where she is now, performing in front of thousands alongside music greats like Jack Johnson, John Cruz, Damian Marley and Mike Love. And oh, by the way was was invited three times to perform at the White House while Barack Obama was in office.

Paula says she doesn't believe in luck. Instead, she follows her intuition and signs from the Universe knowing that she'll be led to the where she belongs.

Paula finds positivity and the silver lining on everything. An early rejection from American Idol ended up being a good thing for her. A car accident she passed by inspired her to write her most well known song, Country Road, which made a long standing collaboration with Jack Johnson possible.

Even being homeless as a child with a mother on drugs is something she is grateful for since it let her become a more relatable mentor to children.

Paula Fuga lives on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii with her husband and has a new album coming out this year.

Our Favorite Quotes From This Interview:

  • "You can't rush magic, magic happens in its own time" - Paula Fuga
  • “I come from the stars, I am full of magic and so is my music” - Paula Fuga
  • When I get into that meditative space, when I close my eyes, when I sing I am transported to the stars…in my vision when I close my eyes, all I see is space and the stars are huge but they are far away from me…I always felt like I was a star, like an actual star in the heavens” - Paula Fuga

Brian Bishop is a former Pro-Skater and is known for his insane acrobatics, high-speed downhill racing, and big air competitions.

In the course of the 10+ years that we have known him, "Bish" has made some major shifts. He's changed his primary focus from a very successful career in longboard skateboarding to his current path towards becoming an Architect.

“Bish” is one of our closest friends and this interview was filled with laughter. We were even more curious than we even realized about how this major shift in Brian's life and career happened.

We talk about how a skateboarder becomes professional and the amount of falls, pain and starting over that it takes. It may all sound a bit insane, but that’s why Brian is such a fascinating interview.

"Bish" is hilarious, smart, down-to-Earth and he has a side to him that is perfectly ok with falling on a skateboard going 62MPH only to get up and try again.

In this interview, Brian tells us how he's made such a huge jump at the peak of his Pro-Skating career, and stuck the landing as only a skateboarder could.

We hope that you enjoy the singing, the beatboxing, the drinking, the laughter and the insanity of this very personal interview with one of our very favorite people.

This week we are stoked to introduce you all to the ever positive and ridiculously talented Surf Photographer, Sean Davey.

In this interview, we give you a taste of the man behind the art. Sean's photography is widely recognized and has been featured on over 140 magazine covers.

Sean has published four books and collaborated on many more. Sean has traveled just about anywhere and everywhere known for big waves and has many on going exhibits in Hawaii and throughout the world.

We chose to interview Sean because…well, you will see! After ten minutes of his story telling, his childlike love for his craft, his adoration of the sea and those who make a career out of it, you will love him the way we do.

We have known Sean for over 10 years and from the second we met him on the beach of the North Shore we could not get enough. His energy fills us up.

We covered old school photography methods and the craft of Surf Photography. Sean tells us how he makes decisions based on what he loves doing. We chat about his gnarly wife, growing up in Tasmania as a triplet. Casual encounters with Eddie Vedder, Hawaii's scariest waves and the biggest surf moments he has witnessed living on the North Shore.

I think this episode will have you seeing the bright side of your art form whatever that may be. This may even make you realize which parts of your craft or job makes you most playful, because guess what?...Those are the things you should probably be focusing on anyway.

This week we talked with Dr. Dave Jenkins, the Founder of SurfAid International.

We have been involved with SurfAid for over a decade now and this is the first time we actually got to hear Dave’s story of how a surf trip to the Mentawai Islands 18 years ago gave rise to an organization that has helped save & improve thousands of lives.

This interview will give you an inspiring perspective on SurfAid's global efforts to make drastic changes in isolated regions around the world and save lives.

Dr. Dave explains to us how SurfAid's helps small villages and undeveloped regions by aligning with their deeply rooted traditions and partnering with community leaders.

SurfAid can boast of very impressive statistics and improved mortality rates from their programs.

Just a few examples are: They haven’t had a woman die for three years, and the child mortality rate dropped from 25 to 2 (With the 2 being mostly freak accidents or uncontrollable incidents.)

Aside from his committed involvement with SurfAid, Dave is currently working alongside Dr. Dale Bredesen on a mission to end Alzheimer’s Disease and increase human longevity.

This week we got to chat with Welsh Astrophysicist Geraint F. Lewis. Geraint is best known for his work on dark energy, fine-tuning of the Universe, gravitational lensing, and galactic cannibalism.

He is a Professor of Astrophysics (Teaching and Research) at the Sydney Institute for Astronomy, part of the University of Sydney's School of Physics.

In this interview, we got to make all of Jay’s dreams come true by asking about black holes, time travel, Quantum Physics, consciousness and inquired on his predictions about the past and future of our universe and other universes.

We hear Geraint's thoughts on simulations of the Universe, the big bang, artificial intelligence and what discovery looks like in quantum physics and cosmology.

He walks us through the possibility of time travel and what may be on the other side of black holes.

We dip into the realms of science fiction, speculative physics and how close our movies often come to what could be real.

We also got to hear Chelsea stump an astrophysicist, which is worth the listen in its own right.

This interview will make your brain hurt, your universe grow and your creativity burst into directions of patterns and new discovery.

More on Geraint Lewis

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.” ― Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe**

This interview is with professional artist and big wave surfer Drew Brophy. Some magical things happened when we combined two surf artists to chat about surf, art, science, chakras, universal laws, intentional creativity and the energy in the universe...Jay and Drew got super nerdy and super gnarly in every direction.

We learned about Drew’s focus towards science-based art and how he got to where he is today in his ever-evolving career. Have fun with us as we ride through Drew's stories of Stand Up Paddling through the Grand Canyon and surfing waves bigger than my house.

Hearing Drew's humble beginnings in South Carolina of being told he wouldn't make it as a surfer or an artist and his courageous leap into painting surfboards as a stepping stone will have your head spinning with possibilities.

Alex’s art career has deep roots in the Surf and Music world, spanning from his early days working alongside legendary bands like Sublime and Weezer. Alex calls Pavones, Costa Rica home and if you have been anywhere in Costa Rica, it is almost a guarantee you've already seen his amazing murals that cover the country. Leave us a Review This week's episode is with the owner of Denver's David B. Smith Art Gallery, David B. Smith. We start our chat with David discussing how he shifted his path in life by using a MySpace Forum to create the reputation he needed to develop the reputable and dynamic art gallery he owns today. So, how do we define art? Since that's a question that we seem to debate together basically daily. We were excited to hear David discuss the many boundaries being broken in the modern art world. David talks about how he sees the impact on social change through edgy installations and impactful displays in his gallery. Then we got to probe David with questions on how as a gallery owner he chooses artists, what is the best way to approach a gallery and what are the things that excite him in the art world. But also.... * Banksy's latest stunt * Coffee Snobbery * Stefan Lessard and DMB * Just mail a Watermelon * Myspace groups * Social change through art * Denver art scene * What IS art?

Leave us a Rating & Review This weeks interview is with local New Jersey Native Quincy Mumford. We have known Quincy since he was a 16 year old kid playing in taco joints. So this months release of his oh so soulful single"ThankYou" off his forthcoming EP Titled"EveryWednesday" (which has reached almost 400K streams in four weeks we might add) has completely blown our minds. Not only is this a phenomenal new direction and sound for Quincy, but through our conversation we realize its the sound he has always been searching for. In this episode we discuss Quincy’s decision to wipe his entire musical history on iTunes clean and start fresh with his funky and soulful new album. We touch upon everything from the business side of being an artist, neglecting your art, being true to yourself and finding that sound and what it is like working with other people to make that vision happen. We could not adore Quincy and his family more, this interview means so much to us. We are so excited for you to get to know Quincy the way we do. But Also: * Tito from Rocket Power * Jersey Shore Love * The Stone Pony * Asbury Park * Failures * Song writing * ALO * Blondie * The Revivalists * Snowboarding * Surfing * Sweden * Slightly Stoopid * Tom Misch

This week on Shifting Perceptions we sat down and chatted with Will Conner. Will owns and runs a large hat brand called Conner Hats out of St. Augustine, Florida and performs his music alongside legends like Singer/Songwriter Jack Johnson and Pro-Surfer Dave Rastovich as his side gig.

Will is an incredible singer/songwriter, a successful entrepreneur, a surfer, an environmental activist, a father and a citizen of the world. His story is that of balance, passion, creativity and floating along to find huge success in all areas of his life.

Will walks us through what it was like to grow up in a hippie commune in Byron Bay, Australia and then coming to the U.S. He describes what it is like to still live in both countries while traveling back and forth with his family and where music fits in all of this.

He walks us through his creative process as a musician and tells us about his passionate for protecting the environment.

Will has one of the more fascinating upbringings that we’ve ever heard of and is a multi-facetted human being with many talents and successes. Will isn’t a bragger, but he sure has a lot to be proud of. Will and his story are inspirational.
