What does it actually mean to do what works for you? When I think about what works for me, it is so much more than what I'm eating and deciding to eat in a day. But in order to find balance and get the hell out of diet land, you really have to widen the lens about what it means to find what works. In today’s solo episode, I dive deeper into the subject of figuring out what works for you. I share what works for me and how I was able to reach that point, how I prioritize movement in my life, my decision to take a break from alcohol, why you don’t always have to be productive, and how to strike the perfect balance. In this episode, we cover: * What it means to do something that works for you [2:40] * Why movement matters to me [6:51] * Taking a break from alcohol [9:37] * The more you own your own decisions the more you inspire others [15:24] * You don’t always have to be in production mode [19:20] * Finding your tribe [24:25] * Striking the perfect balance [26:15] * Keep your boundaries [31:13]

Today's solo is inspired by a question that recently came into my Q&A box. This definitely is not the first time someone has asked me for my thoughts on this topic, but the way this listener asked the question totally inspired this episode. “Can you talk more about the differences between having a wellness mindset and a diet-punishment mindset?” What a fantastic question, and I know for many of you, this is something you’ve dealt with, and I know I have dealt with it on many occasions as well. I talk about how healing sometimes means taking steps back to unlearn and unpack fatphobic norms, the roots of diet culture, the way fatphobia shows up in medical and health fields, what is wellness, and the difference between habits and emotions. In this episode, we cover: * We live in a fatphobic society so there’s a lot of unlearning we have to do [0:52] * What is diet culture [5:49] * Focusing on BMI and other body image issues [10:46] * Without the diet industry, there would be greater body acceptance [17:26] * What is wellness? [20:37] * Letting our thoughts take over control [24:54] * Habits and emotions are separate things [28:56]

Hear me out, there are so many things that took me a long time to figure out, that I am happy about. For example, I'm proud that I didn't fully find out what I wanted to do with my life until I was 30. I'm also glad that I've had as many failures as I've had successes because what I've gotten out of all of that are lessons. But there are some things that I wish I would have gotten right the first time or around or at least I wish I knew about earlier. It would have saved me a lot of heartache if I just avoided things like dieting on and off or being frustrated with myself for not having it together. But guess what, everything I've learnt, I want to pass on and share with you! In today’s solo episode, I am talking about all the advice that has helped me become a healthier and happier person that I wish I knew sooner. I know that I'm not alone in shaming myself in the past for not being motivated enough to be the “healthiest” person at all times. Obviously, that shame is neither appropriate nor helpful, but I am human and it’s easy to beat yourself up over small things. In all honesty, being healthy has nothing to do with what you eat, it’s more than that. Being healthy involves a routine, a lifestyle, observing your habits and your mindset. It’s a holistic approach that goes beyond obsessing over what you eat or didn’t eat. In today’s episode, I am talking about all things logistics when it comes to setting up your kitchen to make healthy eating effortless. I talk about what it means to be healthy, some of the problems we face when we try to create a balanced life, and why you don’t need all this fancy equipment to be successful in the kitchen. In this episode, we cover: * What does healthy mean? [0:20] * The struggle to actually plan your week [5:28] * Have a set of go to meals [10:55] * Yes you have time you just need to make it [14:14] * Some hacks and tools to make your kitchen life easy [20:49] * Why the Vitamix has been a lifesaver for me [28:07] * Creating the perfect kitchen environment [34:25]

Despite it’s legalization in many states and countries, there is still a lot of stigma and misinformation surrounding cannabis. I haven’t shied away from this topic before, and I am quite open about being a cannabis user. Living in Colorado makes things a lot easier for me, and I want to use my platform to share some awareness. In today’s solo episode, I share my thoughts around cannabis. I have talked about this before in a previous episode I hosted with my two friends Phil Wolf and Whitney Adrian. This was such a popular episode, and I received so many comments and DMs asking me to explore the topic further. I speak on some interesting facts about cannabis use, the history of cannabis, and why you should give yourself permission to explore cannabis use if you want to! In this episode, we cover: * The history of cannabis in the United States [5:18] * Reconsidering the legality and taxation laws around cannabis [15:35] * How to deal with munchies [24:33] * Exploring your curiosity and working with local dispensary [29:36] * Why I use cannabis and what are my favorite stores [33:03]

As of 2019, the total combined debt of American millennials is $1 trillion. With this grim statistic in mind, paying off $40k in debt seems impossible, let alone saving up $100k for retirement, but this is a reality that is possible and achievable. In today’s episode, I talk to Chloe, a good friend of mine and founder of Clo. Chloe launched Clo Bare as a way to talk about money and personal growth. After starting her budgeting journey in 2018, in less than two years she paid off $40k in debt, saved $100k for retirement, and got on track to retire by 46. Now she is coaching folks on how to make their money work for them and live a life aligned with their values. During our powerful conversation, Chloe shares how she went from teaching English in China to setting herself up for retirement. She talks about how poor financial choices are some of the primary causes of stress and poor mental health, why money shouldn’t be a taboo subject, and how you can make better financial choices and get on track for savings and retirement. In this episode, we cover: * How Chloe and Cassidy first met + how their love for writing has carried on throughout the years [6:19] * Her journey to changing careers and founding her company Clo Bare, an accountability blog for personal growth that turned into a platform for coaching people’s financial choices and habits [16:49] * Many view money as a taboo subject. Chloe shares her own experiences with money mismanagement (living paycheck to paycheck dispute making $90k a year) and the steps she took to make better financial choices [26:21] * The biggest shift that sparked Chloe's financial change [33:58] * There shouldn’t be gatekeeping when it comes to investment, the time to start is now [43:48] * 3 tips to implement to get your finances back on track [48:45]

In today's episode Cassidy recounts her experience volunteering in prison with Defy Colorado, a non-profit organization that thinks that after people serve their time, they’ve repaid their debt to society and should be given the chance to start fresh. Defy’s entrepreneurial programs enable one of America’s largest forgotten communities to defy the odds. Defy equips them with new skills, new connections, and a new belief to match their new purpose, and succeed in their new life of economic independence.

The second half of today's part one episode of this two part series is with Stacey Putka, Executive Director of Defy Colorado. She sits down with Cassidy to discuss the realities of working within our prison system and what you can do to help.

Only her closest friends refer to Cassidy Ceresa as Cass, so the name Podcass couldn't be a more perfect title to take the relationship with her online community to the next level through this podcast.

Cassidy also goes by @cassidyeats on instagram where she shares a realistic approach to a healthy lifestyle through day to day life and experiences living in Denver.

In her words, "I'm ready to dive deeper into everything we as women confront -- topics like authenticity, food noise, body image, relationships, life in Colorado, taking great care of ourselves, along with stories and interviews with people I can’t get enough of."
