Jeremiah lamented over the day he was born, but God has another view of the prophet's life and our lives: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). We are being formed and shaped by our Father. He is the Master Potter, we are the clay (Jeremiah 18). "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29: 11-13).

Psalm 1

Matthew 27:1-14
When Jesus was handed over to Pontius Pilate, His trial was illegal, according to Jewish law. Only when Jesus confessed to being the Messiah and God’s Son did they discover a way to destroy Him. The Jews did not have the authority to exercise capital punishment, so they sent the prisoner to Pilate. As Judas watched Jesus being carried away to Pilate, the enormity of his betrayal began to dawn on him as he realized they did indeed intend to kill Him. He had remorse, but there is an important difference between remorse and repentance. Instead of looking to Jesus for forgiveness and trusting in His atoning death, Judas’ perverted mind may have led him to believe that by dying he could somehow pay for his own sin.
Jesus Christ makes a claim on every human heart, and every heart must decide what to do with Him. Jesus was accused of blasphemy. As these wild allegations were hurled against Jesus, “He answered him not one word.” Pilate was amazed that Jesus didn’t defend Himself. Jesus didn’t need to. He was doing the will of the Father.

Matthew 26:57-75
Jesus was forsaken by the disciples. They all fled into the darkness of the garden, and He was alone. Every one needs to learn from His example of intimacy with God.
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus had a communion and intimacy with the Father that strengthened Him to endure the cross. We are living in a unique time of history. Take advantage of being alone with the Father! After His arrest, He was brutalized, beaten and spit upon.
And still alone. Even Peter denied Him. My heart goes out to Peter. For I have been in the same place, doing what I never thought I would do. I have failed. My flesh has failed. Yet Peter was restored -- and we are too!

Matthew 26:47-56
Jesus' arrest and betrayal: While Jesus was still speaking with the disciples in the garden, teaching them to be spiritually ready and prepared for temptation, behold Judas arrived with a great multitude with swords and clubs. Interesting that the Gospels never speak of Judas with overt disdain or hatred. He is just “one of the 12.”
Ever since he came on the stage of human history, Judas has been a symbol of ultimate betrayal. Judas was tested. The disciples were all being tested this night. The leadership of Israel was being tested. Crises do not make you or break you. They reveal you.
Character is revealed by the choices we make in the midst of a crisis. As the disciples' faithfulness decreased, Jesus demonstration of power and glory increased. While it appeared the enemy's plans prospered, the plan of God prospered all the more.

Matthew 26:36-46
The prayer that changed the world happened in the Garden of Gethsemane and has reverberated through all the centuries, for 2,000 years.
The Passion Jesus demonstrated on that momentous night has been depicted in music, books, poetry, and films for centuries. Even our language has been affected by these events, giving us phrases such as “he who lives by the sword dies by the sword,” “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak” and “sweating great drops of blood.”
Gethsemane is a place where we face God’s will head-on. At Gethsemane we look honestly and clearly at what God has called us to do. We consider that call and we count the cost.

• There are two words for hope in the Old Testament: the first is “yachal” which means trust, and the other is “towcheleth” which means guarantee. The New Testament word for hope is “elpis” which means, ‘to expect with pleasure.
• Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. - I Peter 1:3-6
IV. WE HAVE THIS HOPE AS AN ANCHOR FOR OUR SOULS. - HEBREWS 6:19

I. GOD IS USING THE CURRENT SITUATION TO___.
When God spoke from Mount Sinai His voice shook the earth, but now He makes another promise: ‘Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.’ This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain.’ {Hebrews 12:27 NLT}
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire. - Hebrews 12:28-2

In His Word we are reminded of His promises to us
When we dig into God’s Word, we are reminded of His power that He has been made available to us.
Reading the Bible points us to hundreds of prophecies that assure us of His ultimate victory.

And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.- Romans 13:11

Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in Me. In My Fathers house are many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you so that where I am, there you may be also.
