Jerry shares a (fairly) recent conversation with Erin O’Donnell. Erin was a singer/songwriter in the mid-1990s through the mid-2000s. The desire to be at home with her kids when they got off the school bus each day was greater than the desire to perform. Jerry caught up with her in late 2017 and they talked about that decision.

They're the world's largest hornets and they've been spotted in North America. Jerry talks with University of Georgia entomologist Dr. Nancy Hinkle about the Asian giant hornets, how deadly they really are and the very real risk they pose to honey bees.

If you live in Georgia and think you've spotted an Asian giant hornet (which, honestly, is very unlikely) you can email a photo to the UGA insect ID specialist, Lisa Ames at LAmes@uga.edu. Or you can ship an actual specimen to:

Lisa Ames

Diagnostic Lab

210 Cowart Building

1109 Experiment St

Griffin GA, 30223-1797

Dr. Hinkle suggests putting the specimens in just a spoonful of alcohol (any type), placing them in a waterproof container, then placing that inside a ziplock bag (just in case the 'waterproof' container really isn't), then boxing that up for shipment.  Include your name and contact information (cell number, email) so Ms. Ames can let you know the identity. Also, please include your county and the date it was collected.
