Each month we give away a $1,000 microgrant at a public pitch party and this podcast will showcase the groups who pitched their ideas and the group who won the microgrant. We want to try to introduce you to some amazing initiatives around the city that might be flying under the radar and could use more exposure and more support.
We talk to Beth Pye from Go With The Flow Kingston, winner of the $1,000 February microgrant. She is part of a group of stitchers in Kingston who make reusable, washable feminine hygiene kits for girls and women in need. Have you heard of Awesome Kingston? We’re a group of 10 + volunteers from across Kingston that love our community, and are committed to giving $100 a month from our own pocket to make a $1,000 microgrant that we give away to a person, group, or initiative that’s trying to make Kingston more awesome. When I first joined the group it was described to me as funding for the unfundable, which is pretty accurate because we see everyone from juggling groups to kids wanting to sell ice cream to small businesses looking to launch a new product or marketing initiative.
On this podcast we’re going to profile the groups who are invited to pitch at our monthly pitch party, including the $1,000 winner, and highlight the good work they’re doing in our community. You’ll get to learn about some awesome people doing awesome things in our city who maybe fly under the radar sometimes, and are looking for more support.
