This week, we talk through what has been translated of Kyouko Ariyoshi's 1990s yuri manga, Applause. The translation includes two stories - Bruges, the tale of girls at a retreat reenacting a murder story, and San Francisco Story, a tale of love and pining and pride parades.

Clouds of Sils Maria (2014) is a beautiful movie by Olivier Assayas about inevitabilities of aging and the difficulty actors face when drawing the line between fiction and reality - if you haven't seen it, you might be interested to watch it before listening to this episode! We attempt to give our interpretation of the film, while also talking about a lot about its inspiration from The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant and a little about Assayas' other works and controversies.

The series is about two high school students, a track star and a socially awkward gardening enthusiast, who fall in love and start to spend their lives together. There was a lot we liked, and a fair amount to critique. We also got to talk about Eerie Queerie and BL manga, which we'll jump on at any opportunity.

This film is as much about white lesbian opulence as it is about sheer misanthropy. We discuss the curse of blue eyeshadow, what camp means to us, and how the hell it is that this film came out the same year as Pink Flamingos. Featuring a guest appearance from one of our best friends, Pepperjack the very squeaky cat.
We're a bit of a mess this week but we talk freely about our opinions on the monster girls at Monster High. Clawdeen's a lesbian, and so is Moanica, and most of the other girls. We also watched Ghouls Rule to give us some more fodder to talk about, and we have to admit, it does say "fuck the police" though.
