Listen: The Voices of 2020 is a 6 episode series that shares the stories and experiences of people across the globe, focussing on the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020. In this podcast, host Lara Graulich shares clips from interviews she conducted virtually with 63 people from 11 different countries from the ages of 18-91. In a world that seems increasingly divided, it is striking how similar we all are. Perhaps, this is a reminder that before we make judgements, we should listen.
This is the bonus episode, of Listen: The Voices of 2020, The First Voices of 2021. When I began this podcast, I thought that perhaps we would leave the majority of the uncertainty and the drama behind in the old year. However, the New Year proved very quickly that it was not to be underestimated. In this episode, we listen to the stories American citizens who describe living through the whirlwind first weeks of 2021. We hear from someone who was working in the capitol during the attack on January 6th, we also hear from a member of the US military currently deployed in Syria and from others who watched their capitol overtaken live on their laptops and phones. Without further ado, I invite you to listen.
In this episode, Government, Activism and the Media, I share people’s stories and experiences with the press, activism and their governments from around the world in 2020. Some describe protesting in a pandemic, others describe what lockdown was like in China and still others describe their sometimes difficult relationship with the media. Without further ado, I invite you to listen.
In this episode, Work and Education, I share people’s stories and experiences in navigating the ever changing environments in their professional and student lives in 2020. We hear from elementary school teachers, unemployed college graduates and many other professionals and students sharing how they have adapted and reacted to the changes in their workplaces and educational institutions.
In this first episode, I share people’s stories and experiences with the changes in their everyday lives caused by the COIVD-19 Pandemic in 2020. Some describe the initial panic that took over their countries and communities, others describe getting used to new habits like mask wearing and many more describe their reckoning with this strange, new reality that we call "the new normal".
