How long will it last and just how severe will it get? This economic downturn trigger layoffs and prompt some salespeople to panic. Now is not the time to panic, now is the time to be checking your sales activities, sharpening your sales pitch and using solid sales principles. The economy will change and since we have no clue when it will thrive again the only choice is to adapt. Knowing how to sell in a recession will be vital to keeping businesses in business. Are You an Ordertaker or a Rainmaker?
'Sales are down because of the coronavirus. My customers simply aren't buying as much'. After a tough day or some difficult sales calls, it’s easy to use the coronavirus as an excuse. If you do, people will hear it in your voice and you’ll sell less. Be a Rainmaker, not an Ordertaker. Use the down economy as a motivation to work harder and smarter, not as an excuse to back off. If you back off, business will go down. It's a self fulfilling prophecy. If you work harder and smarter, business will improve. As the saying goes: 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going'!
