Jazmiere is a youth entrepreneur who owns Kin of Duncan. She creates shirts for pets and believes that fur-kids should be spoiled just like human kids! After making several matching shirts for herself and her dog, she decided to make items for other pet lovers. Jazmiere has her own pop up shop at the Gallery on Penn in the East Liberty area. She has added custom dog bandannas, fleece coats, paw balm, and now mask to her inventory. During the COVID-19 crisis Jazmiere had to shut down her pet shop and pivot her business by making masks. Currently Jazmiere has made over 300 masks for kids and adults living in Pittsburgh, Texas, and Florida. Also during COVID-19, Jazmiere noticed that pet owners struggled with providing pet food for their pets. So she was excited to partner with PAART and PGH Circles to provide a Dog Food donation drive. She performs "Classic," "Contemporary" and "Crossover" Jazz & Blues, and has produced shows with innovative, customized themes for charity performances and for concerts at theaters, festivals, jazz & blues clubs, arts centers and country & urban clubs throughout the country. Jessica has had the pleasure of writing, recording and performing with wonderfully talented musicians, and has long partnered with guitar great Mark Strickland to record and perform. Jessica's recorded songs have been included on seven international vocal compilation albums through EQ Music record label, and she has recorded four solo albums and is preparing to release several new live recordings. Ms. Lee is an ASCAP member and continues to write and perform original songs in collaboration with her many creative friends and colleagues. Jessica sings as a soloist, sings and accompanies herself on piano (for special occasions only), and leads Duos, Trios, Quartets & Full Bands for performances. Ms. Lee has also performed Jazz with Symphony Orchestra and Jazz with Big Band, and she performs Inspirational Music with many different types of ensembles. Jessica Lee is currently working on a "Fusion Street" project exploring Jazz & Blues when fused with music of other genres, including pop, Americana and world music. Dedicated to passing the Jazz & American Music art form on to the next generation, Jessica teaches private lessons (Voice & Piano-for-Singers) currently through private studio and through Sewickley Sweetwater Center for the Arts. And, she works as a social entreprenuer to start-up and accelerate the growth of new performance venues and programs in collaboration with several leading-edge nonprofit organizations. Empress of Biz interviews Joe Sestak on his mission to become the next Pennsylvania U. S. Senator. We will be discussing his views on small business and veterans and the vital role both of these groups play in the propserity and security of the United States. Joe Sestak was born and raised in Delaware County, PA. He served in the Navy for 31 years and retired as a 3 star Admiral. He served as a Congressman for Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District from 2007-2011. As a Congressman, Joe served on both the Armed Services and Education & Labor Committees, and was Vice Chairman of the Small Business Committee. According to the office of the House Historian, Joe is the highest-ranking former military officer ever to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. As an Admiral, he led a series of operational commands at sea, including Commander of an aircraft carrier battle group of 30 U.S. and allied ships with over 15,000 sailors and 100 aircraft that conducted operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. After 9/11, Joe was the first Director of Deep Blue, the Navy's anti-terrorism unit that established strategic and operations policies for the Global War on Terrorism. He served as President Clinton's Director for Defense Policy at the National Security Council in the White House, and also as the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations responsible for development of the Navy's five-year $350 billion warfare requirements. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University. Joe most recently taught courses on Ethical Leadership and on Restoring the American Dream at Carnegie Mellon University and Cheyney University, and was the General Omar N. Bradley Chair in Strategic Leadership, a joint faculty appointment at the United States Army War College, Dickinson College, and the Penn State University Dickinson School of Law and School of International Affairs. He also remains active in foreign affairs, education, disaster response, small businesses, energy and the environment, and health care, among other issues, through a variety of non-profits and other organizations, including the U.S Department of State. When he officially announced his bid for the U.S. Senate in March of this year at Independence Hall, he walked 422 miles on foot from Philadelphia to the Ohio border in order to show people how he wanted to serve them, earning their trust by a willingness to be held accountable. Joeâ??s book, â??Walking in Your Shoes to Restore the American Dream,â?? focuses on the hopes and challenges he saw as he walked with people across Pennsylvania.

The town of Charleroi is the site of a launch of a pilot program, Sustainable Marketplace for Arts, Artisans, and Recreation and Trending businesses. SMAART for short. This program, presented by The Monongahela River Valley Coalition, has the goal of launching a regional initiative directed at attracting small businesses to the Mon River Towns. Small towns are not only wonderful places to visit they are great places to be in business. One of the innovative efforts of STAART is a Business Plan Contest with a series of seminars to help small business obtain the information they need to build a thriving company. To kick off the program on, June 9, 2015 at the Charleroi Borough Building the Region III Administrator Natalia Olsen-Urtecho will be visiting the town of Charleroi.
